Abstrakt	Enterprises from the SME sector significantly affect the quality of human capital in Poland and the standards of their management are rising every year. The aim of this article is to present the essence and specifics of human capital of SMEs, showing the impact of European integration on the devel-opment of human capital in this sector. In addition, the authors focus on finding the answer to the question whether employers willingly reach for EU funding (sources of knowledge, forms, types of funding, barriers to access to funds) to be able to support and develop human capital that they have in the long run. The study was carried out by a survey method. The analysis made allowed to formu-late the following conclusions. Entrepreneurs willingly undertake to raise funds from EU funds. Re-spondents were convinced that EU funds help in the development of their businesses, although ob-taining funding alone is not easy. The respondents pointed to barriers, which include complicated and lengthy procedures, as well as low availability of information.

Abstrakt	Artykuł zawiera wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych na grupie rolników, z których część wykonała inwestycje modernizacyjne lub dostosowujące gospodarstwa do standardów UE. Wykazay one duże zróżnicowanie pomiędzy dwiema analizowanymi typami przedsięwzięć, zarówno pod względem rzeczowym i finansowym, jak i dotyczącym motywacji wykonania. Inwestycje modernizacyjne charakteryzowały się większą kosztochłonnością, lecz ich realizacja wynikała z wewnętrznych potrzeb podmiotów. Wykonywane były przez gospodarstwa większe powierzchniowo. Przedsięwzięcia dostosowawcze z kolei realizowane były głównie ze względu na chęć późniejszego skorzystania z innych form pomocy UE, a ich wartość była ponad 10-ktornie niższa w stosunku do inwestycji modernizacyjnych
Abstract	The paper contains the results of surveys conducted on a group of farmers, some of which has done investments of modernization or adapting to EU standards. The investigation showed large differences between the two analyzed groups of projects, both in terms of substantive and financial, as well as the motivation for implementation. Modernization investments were characterized by higher costs, and their implementation was done due to the internal needs of the entities. Those investments were performed by holdings of a larger surface. Projects concerning EU standards meeting were mainly done due to the desire of use other forms of EU assistance, and their value was more than 10-time lower in relation to modernization investments

Abstract	The article offers an assessment of spatial differences in the structure of payment granting decisions under the EU Common Agricultural Policy. The analysis was conducted for individual EU assistance measures divided into two groups: 1) intensifying measures, intended to step up production and improve the competitiveness of agriculture and 2) extensifying measures, intended to improve the environment and to help rural areas to diversify into non-agricultural activities. It was demonstrated that payments of group 2 prevailed in numerical terms, which was largely a result of the high participation of agricultural holdings in the agri-environmental programm

Abstract	The crucial element which has influenced incomes in Polish agriculture is the EU assistance. Effectiveness of the funds transferred to the communes of the West-Pomeranian voivodship has been presented. The size of those funds has been related to the social and economic development of those communes. It has also been shown that the EU support funds are not being used as an effective tool for alleviating disproportions in development between communes of the given region.
