Abstrakt | It is determined that in economic science there is no single approach to the interpretation of the concept of ‘innovation’. It is suggested that taking into account the radical changes that are in the world economy today it is necessary to use the extended concept of innovation, which should be understood as the results of the development transformation, research, ideas and their combination into a radically new or improved technological, economic, social solution, the results of which can be applied in practice. The main indicators that determine the level of innovation development of a country or region and provide an opportunity to determine the impact on economic development are covered. The place of Ukraine in such ratings according to indicators of innovative development in 2017, 2018 and problems that cause their low level are defined. The improvement directions of the innovative development level of the country are defined and the real steps taken by the government of the country to correct the negative trends through the introduction of digital transformation of the country’s economy, the transition from raw material to high-tech production and the basis of innovative IT technologies and communications are shown. |

Abstrakt | In this paper, starting from the approach described in Chiarini et al. (2017), who have provided a subjective measure of the environmental impact of cities (subjective EIC) at the country level, we extend the analysis comparing their indicator with the objective measure of the environmental impact of cities (objective EIC) suggested by Agenda 2030, namely mean levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10). The comparison between subjective and objective indicators of the EIC is a novelty in the panorama of the available studies, and provides useful results for policy analysis. In fact, the relative ranking of countries changes according to the metric adopted, and the analysis of association with macroeconomic indicators of development and growth reveal that subjective and objective EIC indicators might influence/be influenced by different macrofactors. |

Abstrakt | The article specifies that intensive development of the economy can be achieved by attracting and effectively using investment resources. Based on the indicator of the level of investment sufficiency, it was established that, in the period under review, the level of investment adequacy in the country is less than the established ‘threshold’ value, which indicates a shortage of investment funds. The study analysed the dynamics of investment attraction in agriculture. It was found that the main source of financing for investment is own funds of enterprises and organizations. However, they are too insufficient to ensure the intensive development of the economy. An analysis of growth dynamics of the total volume of investment in agricultural enterprises per 100 ha of agricultural land and their financial provision was carried out. Research showed that the increase in the value of fixed assets is more intensive than the increase in the inflow of investment in fixed assets, which indicates additional sources of growth in the value of fixed assets. It was noted that the potential sources of investment resources should be the funds of foreign investors, which currently stand at an extremely low growth level. A number of negative factors influencing the process of attracting foreign direct investment were identified. The main current requirements of the Ukraine in the process of integration into the world economic space, is the formation of a mechanism of investment activity, an important component of which is the mechanism of investment provision. |

Abstrakt | The international shares placement via IPO on the WSE by several Ukrainian companies, mainly from the sector of agricultural production and processing, makes an appealing case of relatively quick and inexpensive access to foreign borrowing markets. The WIG Ukraine index shows optimistic start, period of positive gains, dramatic fall at one point and significant volatility afterwards due to both the political and macroeconomic upheavals in the home country as well as internal problems of emitents. The comparison with other indexes of WSE and other exchanges reasonably suggests that the latter reason was the main cause of the deterioration of the indicator. The investigation on the parameters of the regression model that describe time series of WIG-Ukraine index with the help of the ARIMA model reveals that short-time predictions dominate investors decisions. |

Abstrakt | The aim of this paper is to determine the farm typology in Elbasan region and orient policy maker’s agriculture support scheme. Albania is divided into 12 regions and 61 municipality. Region of Elbasan is one of the intermediate ones4 and consists of 4 districts (district of Elbasan, Gramsh, Librazhd and Peqin). Elbasan ranked third by the availability of agricultural land in the country after Fier and Korca (72,872 ha or 10.4% of the agricultural land area at country level). Despite the size of the agricultural land area, it should be considered that a good part of it lies in hilly and mountainous part especially in Librazhd and Gramsh districts. Besides construction and development services, there is observed a growing trend of agricultural activity especially in terms of olive and vegetables cultivation in open field and greenhouses. In this region operate about 32,439 farms. The average farm family size is 4.9 persons, while the national average farm size is 4.5 persons (MAFCP, 2012). The farm typology was determined using nine indicators. Based on these indicators are identified the following type of cluster/typology for Elbasani district: poly-culture for market; livestock; leisure farms; fruit trees; arable crop farm; self-sufficiency. The farm performance was determined using factors productivity which reveals that farms that belong to the poly-culture for market, livestock and self-sufficient clusters are performing better than other clusters. |

Abstrakt | The article identifies post-crisis determinants of strategic management of transnational banks in the market of direct investments by means of the correlation analysis of the dependence of growth of external assets of transnational banks of European countries on the indicators of profitability and financial stability of banking systems of the countries of placement of subsidiary banks, the efficiency of the transmission mechanism of monetary policy in these countries, the structure of a complex financial crisis and the speed of post-crisis recovery of the country, ease of doing business. There is no obvious connection between the presence of foreign banks in the banking system and indicators of profitability, ease of doing business and financial stability of banking systems. This is confirmed by the correlation analysis of 45 indicators on the example of 26 European countries for 2009–2011 (the period immediately after the end of the global financial crisis of 2008–2009). It is proved that in the post-crisis period, for transnational banks, the decision of increasing/decreasing the volume of assets in the banking system of the host country is dominated by: 1) the structure of a complex financial crisis; 2) the speed of post-crisis recovery of economies and banking systems of these countries; 3) the effectiveness of the transmission mechanism of monetary policy in these countries |

Abstrakt | The article is dedicated to studying contemporary situation and problems of torusim brand development in Kazakhstan. The results of the conducted survey have show that consumers are interested in such tourist-and-recreational resources as natural reserves and national parks and monuments, the Yassavi mausoleum, the branded direction – Borovoye and the mountains, as well as the symbol of the country could become the Golden man or the snow leopard. The research is based on authors own empirical research on the issues regarding tourists awareness and preferencess, as well as experts’ survey. The empirical research was provided based on literature review, primary data (in form of tourists surveys), secondary data collection, analysis and synthesis. To survey tourists a structured questionnaire was designed; 96 people were surveyed, including 55 women and 41 men as a random sampling. The experts’ survey was conducted in free form, and eight experts were surveyed. As was evidenced by the study results, international tourists are particularly interested in authentic cuisine as well as activities. Moreover, the research revealed that a gap between the way Kazakhstan officially defines its identity and the actual brand image the country has for now as a tourist destination. |

Abstrakt | W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych, przeprowadzonych metodą wywiadu bezpośredniego w 2014 roku na terenie Ukrainy, w mieście Łuck i Polski, w mieście Biała Podlaska. W badaniach uczestniczyło 100 osób pochodzących po połowie z Ukrainy i Polski. Kwestionariusz ankietowy zawierał dwanaście pytań, w tym dziesięć pytań zamkniętych i dwa, w których trzeba było wybrać 2-3 warianty odpowiedzi. Badania przeprowadzono anonimowo, uwzględniając pięć przedziałów wiekowych respondentów. Analiza udzielonych odpowiedzi wskazała, że większość ankietowanych uprawiało ziemniak w swoim gospodarstwie. W Polsce największa liczba respondentów stwierdziła, że spożywają bulwy ziemniaka 1-2 razy w tygodniu, mieszkańcy Ukrainy preferowali spożywanie 3-4 razy w tygodniu, a preferowaną formą w obu krajach były ziemniaki gotowane z wody. Bulwy do celów konsumpcyjnych pochodziły z własnej produkcji oraz kupowane były głównie na bazarze. Większość ankietowanych Polaków interesowała się krajem pochodzenia kupowanych ziemniaków oraz etykietą na opakowaniu. Na decyzje zakupowe mieszkańców Ukrainy wpływała głównie cena, a opakowanie miało najmniejsze znaczenie. Ankietowani pochodzący z obu krajów najbardziej doceniali w ziemniaku dobre walory smakowe, ponadto oczekiwali bulw o dobrej jakości kulinarnej i o dobrym wyglądzie zewnętrznym. Zdecydowanie mniejsze wymagania ankietowanych dotyczyły „bogatej” w informacje etykiety i przystępnej ceny. |
Abstract | The paper presents results of survey research conducted in Łuck (Ukraine) and Biała Podlaska (Poland) in 2014. A total of 100 people, half of them Polish and the other half Ukrainian, were interviewed in the study. They were asked twelve questions, including ten open-ended questions and two questions which had 2-3 answers to choose from. The survey was anonymous and was carried out in five age groups. Analysis of the answers demonstrated that most respondents grew their own potatoes. The majority of Polish respondents said they consumed potatoes once or twice per week, Ukrainians eating them three or four times per week. In both countries, the preferred consumption form was boiled potatoes. Tubers for consumption were produced by the respondents or were purchased, mainly at the market. The majority of Poles wanted to know the country of origin of the potatoes they wanted to buy. Also, they were interested in the label attached to the package of the potatoes. Ukrainians predominantly made their decisions based on the price, the labelling being the least important. Respondents from both countries paid the greatest attention to potato flavour; they expected potatoes to be characterised by good cooking quality and appealing external appearance. They were by far less interested in an informative label and affordable price. |

Uwzględnia ono funkcje pełnione przez nieruchomości, a jednym z segmentów wyodrębnianych na jego podstawie jest rynek nieruchomości rolnych. Dane dotyczące obrotu nieruchomościami rolnymi w skali kraju i poszczególnych województw mogą być wykorzystane dla różnych celów, w szczególności dla potrzeb wyznaczania kierunków przekształceń strukturalnych w rolnictwie. W tym kontekście istotne jest poznanie uwarunkowań tego zjawiska, jego natężenia oraz struktury, co jest przedmiotem niniejszego opracowania. |
Abstract | The property market is not a unite market and therefore depending on employed criteria can be divided into various segments. In order to provide an analysis the objective criterion is most often used. It refl ects functions of particular properties and on such basis the segment of agricultural properties can be distinguished. The data on agricultural property sales in the whole country scale as well as in provinces can be employed for various purposes, particularly for defining of structural changes in agriculture. In order to do so it is necessary to recognise the background of the property sales, their scope and structure which is the topic of the paper. |

Abstrakt | A spatial differentiation of the level of demographical senility was illustrated in the study, along with determination of dynamics of the European Union Member States ageing process (EU 27). The research period included years 1996-2016. The measures of demographical senility were used in the static and dynamical aspect. Country grouping due to the level of demographical senility advancement was performed based on statistical measures. A significant differentiation of the demographical senility level and population ageing process in the spatial system were found. The highest degree of demographical senility advancement was observed in the countries of “the old” Union but the greatest dynamics of this process was shown in the case of new Member States, including Poland and Baltic States. |

Abstrakt | Celem podjętych badań było określenie specyfiki zachowań konsumentów wołowiny z województwa świętokrzyskiego zarówno w odniesieniu do częstotliwości, wielkości i powodów jej spożywania, jak i innych aspektów zachowań żywieniowych konsumentów zamieszkujących ten region kraju. Analiza danych wtórnych oraz badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych wśród mieszkańców województwa świętokrzyskiego w okresie od lutego 2013 do września 2014 roku potwierdziła, że niezależnie od sytuacji makroekonomicznej regionu na poziom spożycia wołowiny w lokalnych gospodarstwach domowych wpływają statystycznie istotnie zmienne, takie jak: wiek członków rodziny, ich wykształcenie, wykonywane przez nich zawody, liczba dzieci w wieku do 18 lat na utrzymaniu. Nie zauważa się zaś, aby w gospodarstwach domowych w województwie o niekorzystnych wskaźnikach makroekonomicznych, istniał statystycznie istotny wpływ dochodu gospodarstwa na poziom, a więc i częstotliwość spożycia wołowiny. W skali ogólnopolskiej zaobserwowano zależność, że im większy dochód gospodarstwa, tym większe spożycie wołowiny. Nie udokumentowano tej zależności w badaniach przeprowadzonych w województwie świętokrzyskim, co można uzasadnić istnieniem w tym rejonie kraju żywszej tradycji konsumpcji wołowiny. Takie przypuszczenie potwierdzają również przedstawione w artykule spostrzeżenia dotyczące większego, niż stwierdzono średnio w Polsce odsetka konsumentów niezadowolonych z aktualnego poziomu spożycia wołowiny w ich gospodarstwach domowych. |
Abstract | The purpose of the study was to determine the specific behaviour of consumers living in the Świętokrzyskie voivodship towards beef, both in terms of frequency, the size and the reasons of its consumption and other aspects of the consumers’ nutrition behaviour. The analysis of secondary data and the results of survey conducted in the period between February of 2013 and September of 2014 confirmed that irrespective of the macroeconomic situation of the region, the level of beef consumption in the households located in this region is influenced by statistically significant variables, such as: age, education, occupation, number of children under 18 years of age. However, it is not noticed that households in the voivodship with unfavourable macroeconomic indicators had a statistically significant relationship of beef consumption frequency with the household income situation. Nevertheless, there is a nationwide presence of such correlation, indicating that the higher the household income is, the higher the consumption of beef. The lack of this relationship documented in studies conducted in the Świętokrzyskie voivodship can be explained in this region of the country by the more clear tradition of beef eating. This assumption is also confirmed by the observations in the study referring to the higher than the average percentage of dissatisfied consumers with the current level of beef consumption in their households. |

Abstrakt | Celem badań jest omówienie zróżnicowania państw Unii Europejskiej na podstawie wybranych wskaźników oddziaływania rolnictwa na środowisko. Dane liczbowe pochodzą z 2013 roku. Badanie przeprowadzono za pomocą analizy skupień. Do analizy przyjęto następujące cechy diagnostyczne: bilans azotu brutto, udział emisji gazów cieplarnianych pochodzących z rolnictwa danego państwa w całkowitej emisji gazów cieplarnianych pochodzących z rolnictwa państw UE, sprzedaż pestycydów na hektar użytków rolnych (UR), udział emisji amoniaku badanego państwa w ogólnej emisji amoniaku w UE, udział gruntów przystosowanych do nawadniania w ogólnej powierzchni UR oraz udział gruntów ekologicznych w powierzchni UR. W wyniku zastosowania analizy skupień podzielono badane państwa na sześć grup. |
Abstract | The main objective of this article is to discuss the diversity of European Union countries based on selected indicators of agriculture's impact on the environment. Figures come from 2013. The analysis was conducted using the cluster analysis. The following diagnostic features were used for the analysis: gross nitrogen balance, share of greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture in the selected country in total greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture in all of EU countries, pesticide sales per hectare UAA, the share of ammonia emissions in the selected country in total ammonia emissions of all EU countries, share of irrigable areas in total UAA and share of organic area in total UAA. As a result of the cluster analysis examined regions were divided into six groups. |

Abstrakt | The importance of biotech crops have risen dramatically in the last two decades since their first commercialization. The area of those crops is increasing fast. Soybeans, maize, canola and cotton represent almost 100 percent of area cultivated with biotech crops globally. The number of countries growing biotech crops is also increasing, however currently the United States, Brazil and Argentina are responsible for the largest share of biotech crops among all countries. In 2016, those countries accounted for more than 81% of total world biotech crop area. Judging the potential to introduce new biotechnology, currently the country with the highest number of biotechnology companies is the US followed by Spain and France. In terms of spending on R&D the US is followed by France, Switzerland and South Korea. It must be noted that the highest number of biotech companies and the highest spending is concentrated in the US. Agricultural biotechnology constitute only a small percentage of all biotechnology R&D expenditures. |

Abstrakt | Nowoczesny rynek produktów żywnościowych jest rynkiem o wysokim poziomie innowacyjności, co jest konsekwencją zmian otoczenia, a wraz z nimi coraz bardziej zróżnicowanych oczekiwań konsumentów. Produkty żywnościowe służą nie tylko zaspokojeniu potrzeb podstawowych, ale także różnych hedonistycznych pragnień, sprzyjają zachowaniu smukłej sylwetki, wzrostowi sił witalnych, oszczędzają czas oraz chronią środowisko (Gutkowska, 2011). Obecnie na rynku zarysowują się dwie przeciwstawne tendencje z jednej strony nasilająca się globalizacja przyczynia się do ujednolicania postaw i zachowań konsumentów, a z drugiej - nasila się rola tożsamości, co skłania do regionalizacji. Przemysł spożywczy staje się coraz bardziej globalny. Rozwój międzynarodowych korporacji, przepływ kapitału i siły roboczej w skali międzynarodowej powodują dyfuzję kultur oraz wzrost tendencji do utożsamiania się z wartościami ponadnarodowymi. Jednak zjawisko homogenizacji potrzeb jest mniej zauważalne w obrębie produktów żywnościowych. Konsumpcja żywności ma najsilniejszy związek z kulturą kraju, a zatem w stosunku do konsumpcji przemysłowej jest mniej podatna na proces globalizacji. Znajomość postaw i zachowań konsumentów wobec innowacji może w znacznym stopniu przyczynić się do wzrostu innowacyjności podmiotu. Konsument jest nieocenionym źródłem informacji, niezbędnych dla producentów, zwłaszcza tych funkcjonujących w obszarach przygranicznych, w trakcie przygotowywania strategii marketingowych związanych z projektowaniem i wprowadzaniem nowych produktów na rynek. Obecnie nie ma jednego wspólnego stanowiska, czy decyzje zakupu produktów żywnościowych przez konsumentów generacji Y są determinowane przez globalne trendy, czy też są one wynikiem uwarunkowań lokalnych. Dlatego podjęcie tego problemu badawczego znajduje swoje uzasadnienie poznawcze z powodu jego niewystarczającego rozpoznania. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest identyfikacja percepcji innowacji na rynku żywnościowym przez konsumentów generacji Y. W postępowaniu badawczym wykorzystano analizę literatury przedmiotu i wyniki własnych badań przeprowadzonych wśród 606 konsumentów generacji Y, z obszarów przygranicznych Polski i Czech. Wyniki badań dowodzą, że młodzi konsumenci są otwarci na nowości. Innowacje na rynku żywności to kategoria subiektywna, a niektóre sposoby jej postrzegania były zróżnicowane ze względu na płeć oraz kraj pochodzenia respondentów. |
Abstract | Modern food market is a market with a high level of innovativeness, what is a consequence of more and more differentiated expectations of consumers, not only about the hunger, but also various hedonistic desires, keeping slender figure, increasing vital forces, saving time, or protection of environment (Gutkowska, 2011). Food industry is becoming more and more global. Development of international corporations, movement of capital and workforce on the international scale, development of IT cause diffusion of consuming behavior patterns and there is growing tendency of identification with transnational values. However, phenomenon of homogenization of needs is less observable within the food products because consumers often manifest ethnocentric attitudes toward these products. Food consumption has the strongest relationship with the culture of the country and therefore, in comparison with industrial consumption is less susceptible to the process of globalization. Consumer is an invaluable source of information, indispensable for the producers during preparation of marketing strategies connected with designing and introduction of new products to the market. Knowledge of attitude and behaviors of the consumers towards innovations can significantly contribute to the growth of subject innovativeness. Currently, there is no single common position on how baying decisions of the Generation Y consumer are determined by global trends, and to what extent they are the result of cultural conditioning. Therefore, undertaking this issue has its cognitive justification due to insufficient diagnosis. The goal of this article is identification perception of Gen Y consumers towards innovations on the food market. The author used an analysis of the subject literature and results of her own surveys conducted among 606 consumers Generation Y, from the border areas of Poland and Czech Republic. Results of research have proven that young consumersare open to novelties. The innovations on the food market is a subjective category. Some of the ways of perception of innovations on the food market varied depending on sex and nationality of the respondents. |

Abstrakt | Celem artykułu było wskazanie funkcjonowania LGD Ziemi Kraśnickiej jako przykład aktywizacji terenów wiejskich w kraju Unii Europejskiej jakim jest Polska. Przedstawiono funkcjonowanie LGD prowadzącego swoją działalność na obszarze jednego z najbiedniejszych regionów Unii Europejskiej jakim jest województwo lubelskie, a w nim powiat kraśnicki. Zastosowaną metodą był sondaż diagnostyczny, a narzędziami badawczymi kwestionariusz ankiety i wywiadu. Podmiot badań to 96 członków funkcjonujących w grupie LGD. W opinii badanych LGD przyczyniło się do rozwoju działalności pozarolniczej w regionie, promocji gminy i zmniejszeniu bezrobocia. Walory przyrodnicze i turystyczne, istniejąca atrakcyjna infrastruktura inwestycyjna to najważniejsze walory badanego obszaru, a wspieranie lokalnej działalności, to główny cel funkcjonowania LGD. Strategia LGD w całości wypełnia swoje założenia na terenie objętym badaniom. Przyczynia się do rozwoju regionu, ukierunkowanego w szczególny sposób na odchodzeniu mieszkańców od produkcji rolniczej i przechodzenie do sektorów pozarolniczych, co jest podstawowym założeniem strategii LGD. |
Abstract | Main goal of the paper was to present the functioning of LAG Krasnik area as an example of rural areas activation in EU country - Poland. The operation of the LAG carrying out its activity in the area of one of the poorest regions of the European Union, the Lubelski Region, includes the Kraśnik district. The method used in the paper is a diagnostic survey using a questionnaire and interviews. The survey encompassed 96 members of the LAG. In their opinion LAG contributed to the development of non-agricultural activities and promotion of the area as well as reduction in unemployment. Outstanding natural features and landscapes as well as existing investment infrastructure were considered crucial qualities of the area and support for the local activity was thought to be the main goal of the LAG. Strategy of the LAG contributed to development of the region and to switching towards non-agricultural activities what was its core premise. |

Abstrakt | The main aim of this study is to identify a model organic food cluster situated on the territory of a selected European Union country and its operation effects. In the first part of the study a selected food market of France is characterized as a reference point of further analyses and studies. The data was obtained from French domestic reports which cover years 2007-2016. Dynamics of changes has been defined as well as the trends characteristic of the analyzed period. The method of least squares has been used. Moreover, a definition and the importance of clusters has been presented on the basis of the literature of that topic. The part of the study includes a description of functioning of a selected French organic food cluster is described and evaluated. The method of case study has been used. It has been found that in 2007-2016 the eco-sector in France has developed significantly. A distinctly rising linear trend in the number of organic farms, ecological companies, ecologically cultivated land, the size of the market and degree of French people's knowledge of organic food labels has been reported for the eco-branch in France. As many as 112 projects have been implemented in the analyzed cluster. Those projects involved innovative and export undertakings which allowed to achieve a competitive advantage on the domestic market and even abroad. Positive effects also include possibility of experience exchange and financial support particularly important for young entrepreneurs. |

Abstract | The objective of the case study was to give an overview of differences between Hungarian regions from the aspect of socioeconomic factors. The paper deals with the distinct situations of NUTS 2 regions in order to get a general view of the country fromthat angle. Although, that approach is not the most detailed one, it makes possible to easily distinguish the competitive parts of the country. Secondary data were provided by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) and National Territorial Development and SpatialPlanning Information System (TeIR) were used to present the distribution of population by various expositions. Unemployment rate, distribution of educational attainment, population growth, rate of ageing, vitality index, dependency ratio and GDP per capita were calculated and assembled to present the differences. The results are showing clearly, that Central Hungary (HU10), Central Transdanubia (HU21), Western Transdanubia (HU22) are currently competitive. The population of Southern Transdanubia (HU23) and Southern Great Plain (HU33) are aging, but stable from the view of economy related indexes. Northern Hungary (HU31) and Northern Great Plain (HU32) are considered laggards from that aspect, but have a considerable potential because of the age structure of the population. The paper alsointroduces some national and EU programmes which are meant to mitigate the effects of unfavourable situations. |

Abstract | The article studies the historical development of educational migration processes in Ukraine. It processes the classification of educational migration in view of global instability and manifestations of the crisis. It also suggests measures that should be implemented to prevent significant educational immigration from Ukraine. It also determines that the prerequisite for the educational migration is the desire of an individual to get certain education, which can be classified in terms of desired level of qualification, professional specialization, directions, methods and ways of getting education and the desired result. It is noted that a specific feature of educational migration is its impact not only on the profitability of the educational sector (or a particular university), but also on the economy of the country (region) that provides educational services in general. In addition, the consumers of educational services are a potential workforce of corresponding qualifications. In order to define characteristic features of educational migration from Ukraine, it was necessary to identify individual characteristics of such transferences; that is why classification of educational migration was done in view of global instability and manifestations of the crisis. To maintain and expand the reproduction of intellectual potential, it was suggested to use effective measures of educational and migration policy that would quickly adapt to the changes in the global economic environment. It is necessary to apply the mechanisms which could establish systematic movement of intelligence, capital, and information in two mutually symmetrical directions (into Ukraine and out of Ukraine). It is necessary to strengthen the competitive advantages of Ukraine in science, education and high technologies. |

Abstract | The paper constitutes an attempt at comparison of subsidies level in relation to utilised agricultural area, labour force and value of production throughout EU-25 member states in years 2005 – 2013. The main objective of the paper was assessment of the level of inequalities in agricultural subsidies in European Union and evaluation of their potential trends. Using FADN data aggregated at country level the Gini coefficient was calculated for mentioned dimensions of subsidies level. Additionally sigma and beta convergence analysis were carried out for subsidies and productivity levels. The general conclusion from performed analysis was that famers in EU-10N should now perceive the subsidies level throughout EU quite fair in contrast to 2005, it is especially true in case subsidies per utilised agricultural area with drop of Gini coefficient from 0.23 to 0.15, that is by 35%. On the other hand the productivity levels are converging on much slower pace than subsidies level, for both measures of productivity the beta coefficients in convergence analysis where negative but not significant at standard 5% significance level. |
