| Abstrakt | The international shares placement via IPO on the WSE by several Ukrainian companies, mainly from the sector of agricultural production and processing, makes an appealing case of relatively quick and inexpensive access to foreign borrowing markets. The WIG Ukraine index shows optimistic start, period of positive gains, dramatic fall at one point and significant volatility afterwards due to both the political and macroeconomic upheavals in the home country as well as internal problems of emitents. The comparison with other indexes of WSE and other exchanges reasonably suggests that the latter reason was the main cause of the deterioration of the indicator. The investigation on the parameters of the regression model that describe time series of WIG-Ukraine index with the help of the ARIMA model reveals that short-time predictions dominate investors decisions. |

| Abstrakt | In the study the features and dynamics of investment support of Ukrainian agricultural enterprises are investigated. It concerns estimated investment in fixed assets of Ukrainian agrarian enterprises by sources of financing. It is proved that investment support is the most important prerequisite for the effective functioning and development of agricultural enterprises, as it contributes to an increase in resource potential, thus increasing industry efficiency, strengthening the country’s food security, creating preconditions for the development of the social sphere and increasing soil fertility. The main problems of enticing investments in the agrarian sphere are considered. Integral indicators of ensuring and efficiency of the use of resources in agricultural production is calculated. Modelling of investment support for the use of resource potential of agricultural enterprises is carried out. The optimal directions of increase of investment support of use of resource potential of Ukrainian agricultural enterprises are offered. |

| Abstrakt | The objective of this paper is to evaluate the customer service quality at the cooperative banks in Poland and to test the extent of the customer oriented approach of selling banking services based on the relational model. The customer service level at the cooperative banks was evaluated as low in comparison with the results achieved by the commercial banks. The principles of the relational model and the customer-oriented sales model were fulfilled in 36%. The analysis of the needs, using the feedback about the customer, the customer commitment and the effective sales were the least implemented. The highest level of implementation concerned the principles of comfortable customer service, the greeting and presentation of the offer. The selling efficiency is highly correlated with upholding the principles of a customer-oriented sales model. The study used the Mystery Shopper method. |

| Abstrakt | The purpose of this paper is to assess the use of agricultural services in European Union countries in the context of selected features of agriculture. The Ward’s Method was used to isolate six typological clusters of European Union countries. It may be noticed that clusters with a high levels of fixed capital consumption and total intermediate consumption are characterized by a higher use of services than other clusters. The absence of a noticeable relation between the share of crop output in the structure of agricultural output, or between the labour input and the use of agricultural services can be explained by differences in natural conditions, traditional farming models and preferences in choosing between developing the farm’s own machinery or using services. |

| Abstrakt | Up until now, a model approach has constituted the core of mainstream economics with regard to the decision maker and decision-making conditions. The financial (and economic) crises appearing with increased frequency and numerous market anomalies, although considered predictable by economists and being only a residual component of econometric models, are related to the growing financialization of the economy and an existing asymmetry of information in the absence of full decision-maker rationality. The importance of the psychological characteristics of individuals, their knowledge, the level of trust and priorities, recognized more and more commonly in economic practice, make it necessary to conduct research to identify ‘difficult quantifiable’ characteristics of decision-makers, including their purely economic considerations. (as a supplement to previous economic considerations, including the inclusion of new variables to econometric models that have been in operation for years). The aim of the study was to systematize the evolution of the homo oeconomicus concept along with an indication of further possible directions in its development. A survey of behavioural finance in relation to agribusiness has also been reviewed, which is a perfect example of the evolution of mainstream economics. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of this research is to present the family farm income and production and its economic determinants according to the economic size of farms in the EU countries in 2004–2015. Research is based on European Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN), which includes information about average farms according to the economic size in the EU-28. In this article an attempt is made to use the panel models to evaluate the production and economic determinants of family farm income. The Gretl program is used to evaluate fixed effect models and random effect models. The production and economic determinants of family farm income depending on the farm’s size are indicated, such as: utilised agricultural area, crop and livestock production, net investment and cash flow and inputs. |

| Abstrakt | Agriculture is an important sector of the national economy. Modelling in agriculture is extensively used to evaluate and simulate the development of this industry. There are two main purposes for the development of agricultural models: to develop a scientific understanding of a particular system and obtain information in order to justify agricultural policy decisions and predict their implications. The purpose of this study is to analyse the models used in agriculture in the European Union (EU). To reach these purposes, the following research tasks were set: (1) to analyse the theoretical aspects of simulation modelling; (2) to explore the key agricultural simulation models employed in the EU. The research found that simulation modelling is often used in agriculture by policy makers. There are eight key models of different complexity which are being used to predict the development of the agricultural sector in the EU. |

| Abstrakt | The purpose of this paper is to assess the global differences in labour productivity in the agribusiness. The relationship between a country’s economic development level (measured as GDP per capita) and labour productivity in the agriculture and across the entire agribusiness was measured in 39 countries around the world (which are entered to the World Input-Output Database and for which the relevant I/O tables were prepared) in 2000 and 2014. The input-output analysis, employed as the main research method, enabled the calculation of value added in the agriculture and elsewhere in the agribusiness. The results suggest the existence of a positive linear association between agribusiness labour productivity and economic development level, as corroborated by previous observations. In turn, two separate groups are noticeable in the relationship between agricultural labour productivity and the level of development of a country. In the first group of countries, agricultural labour productivity grows fast as the economy grows whereas in the second group, the growth rate of labour productivity clearly decreases as the economy grows. This study is a part of the discussion on the global agricultural development model which, on the one hand, calls for increasing the productivity of agricultural labour and, on the other, shows a need to reduce environmental degradation. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of this study was to analyse the transfer of extreme price risk between selected EU milling wheat markets in the years 2005–2015. Extreme price risk (value at risk) was estimated using the ARMA-GARCH- -EVT models. In turn, the risk transfer phenomenon was identified using the Granger causality in risk test according to Cheung and Ng, the Granger test in relation to logarithmic price increments exceeding values at risk and the quotient of these increments and values at risk. Results of these tests indicate the effect of extreme price risk transfer on the EU milling wheat markets in the years 2005–2015. The market from which the risk was most frequently transferred was the wheat market in France, while the wheat markets in Poland and in Germany were those, onto which the risk was most frequently transferred. |

The 2015 data on 730 farmers’ households were used to analyse their quality of life in nine dimensions: material living conditions, employment, health, education, leisure and social relations, economic and physical security, civic participation, environmental quality, and the subjective assessment of well-being. Due to concomitance of features measured on metric and non-metric scales, generalized distance measure (GDM) was applied as part of the TOPSIS method to determine the distance of objects from the model values. The study drew on microdata from the Social Diagnosis survey conducted in 2015 by the Council for Social Monitoring, and employed clusterSim R-package for calculations. |

| Abstrakt | Turkey’s bio-diversity, geographical structure and climatic conditions, makes it possible to produce a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Although, the high production capacity, half of the vegetables and fruits are lost during the supply chain processes from farmer to the end consumer because of the long and complex structure of the supply chain. At the same time the current supply chain structure leads to huge gaps between producer and consumer prices. The aim of this study is to determine the structure of the fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain in Turkey and develop alternative supply chain forms to prevent the “price differences” and “product losses” from farmer to the final consumer. The study included descriptive analyses with secondary data as well as literature review. In addition, this study emphasizes the asymmetric power relationship in the agricultural supply chain. The asymmetric power relationship is explained by the price differences between the farmer and the final consumer. The research findings suggest that the transition from the existing multi-intermediated supply chain to the non-intermediated model must be done in a gradual way and through strengthening of the farmers. |

W pracy ustalono model regresji prostoliniowej między rozpatrywanymi zmiennymi i dokonano oceny statystycznej skonstruowanego modelu. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że koszty BHP ponoszone przez przedsiębiorstwa sektora spożywczego, mimo że wzrastały, były ogólnie niewystarczające i ponoszone zbyt późno. |
| Abstract | The paper describes the economic conditions of prevention and occupational accidents. The study covers large enterprises of the food industry in the Lodz region. The straight line regression model between the considered variables was developed and statistically evaluated.. It can be concluded that the health and safety costs incurred by enterprises in the food sector, although they grow, are generally insufficient and incurred too late. |

| Abstrakt | W opracowaniu autor podjął problematykę możliwości pozyskiwania dochodów na wsi z innych źródeł niż rolnictwo. Wskazał możliwe formy aktywności niszowej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem związanych z tworzeniem ośrodków pomocy społecznej. W związku z wydłużaniem życia ludzi oraz zmianą modelu życia rodzin (odejście od rodzin wielopokoleniowych) zainteresowanie miejscami w takich domach zwiększa się, a ich liczba rośnie. Około 40% takich obiektów istnieje na terenach wiejskich, stając się czynnikiem oddziałującym na sytuację społeczno-ekonomiczną gmin. Funkcjonowanie obiektów takich jak domy pomocy społecznej może przysporzyć terenom wiejskim wielu korzyści związanych ze sferą dochodową, poziomem zatrudnienia, wzrostem popytu na lokalne produkty i usługi czy też rozwojem infrastruktury oraz życia kulturalnego. Choć można spodziewać się pewnych negatywnych opinii związanych z przyjazdem „obcych”, to suma korzyści znacznie przeważa potencjalne zagrożenia. |
| Abstract | In the study the author took issues of the possibility of acquiring incomes in the country from alternative sources than the farming. He showed the niche activity possible forms, of social welfare centers with particular reference to connected with creating. In relation to extending the life of people and the change of the model of the life of families (peeling off from an extended families) an interest in places in such houses is increasing, and their number is increasing. About the 40% of such objects exists on the countryside, becoming a factor having an influence on a socioeconomic situation of communes. Functioning of such objects like care centers can cause the countryside many benefits associated with the income sphere, employments, with increase in demand for local products and services, or with development of infrastructure and of cultural life. It is possible to expect also certain negative opinions associated with the arrival of “strangers”. However the sum of the benefit much is outweighing potential hazards. |

| Abstrakt | Cel: Celem artykułu jest analiza zmian w podejściu do zarządzania dziedzictwem kulturowym w procesie budowania marek miast przy zastosowaniu elementów koncepcji miasta inteligentnego. Ewolucja paradygmatu zarządzania dziedzictwem od ochrony, poprzez konserwację po planowanie wymaga od decydentów przyjęcia proaktywnej postawy wobec użytkowników miasta w procesach współdecydowania o definiowaniu i wykorzystywaniu lokalnego dziedzictwa. Wykorzystanie inteligentnych narzędzi w komunikowaniu się z użytkownikami, tworzeniu zasobów, czy dystrybucji dóbr kultury służy usprawnieniu procesów tworzenia marek miast opartych o kulturę. Metody: Wchodząc od paradygmatu planowania dziedzictwa, jako modelowego ujęcia nowoczesnej polityki kulturalnej, przeanalizowano dane wtórne dotyczące praktyk wybranych miast z zakresu zarządzania kulturą, które wpisują się w koncepcję smart city. Dokonano przeglądu dobrych praktyk w zakresie inteligentnego zarządzania dziedzictwem kulturowym pochodzących z miast zrzeszonych w sieci miast kreatywnych UNESCO, które z dziedzictwa kulturowego uczyniły idee przewodnią swoich marek. Na tym tle zaprezentowano dyskusję na temat aktualnych uwarunkowań budowania marki miasta, traktując dziedzictwo kulturowe jako jeden z jej najważniejszych komponentów. Wyniki: W opracowaniu zidentyfikowano metody i narzędzia bazujące na nowych technologiach, które są najbardziej użyteczne w obszarze zarządzania dziedzictwem kulturowym jako komponentem marki miasta. Wskazano na kluczowe znaczenie nowych technologii w brandingu miast w obszarze kultury, jako narzędzi, które pozwalają na najpełniejszą realizację idei partycypacji obywatelskiej i koprodukcji (integracja wymiarów smart living i smart people w polityce kulturalnej miast inteligentnych). |
| Abstract | Objective: The purpose of this article is to analyse the changes in the approach to cultural heritage management in the context of city brand building by application of smart city concepts. The evolution of the heritage management paradigms from protection, through conservation to planning, requires the city decision-makers to adopt a proactive approach toward city users in the process of local heritage planning. Application of smart tools to communicate with users, to define cultural assets, or to distribute cultural goods facilitates the process of culture-based city branding.Methods: Treating the paradigm of heritage planning as a normative model of modern cultural policy, the authors analyse secondary data regarding the cultural management activities of selected cities, focusing on the practices that stem from the smart city concept. Selected cites from the UNESCO creative cities network were taken into consideration as those whose brands are based on their cultural heritage. The policies and activities were set in the context of culture-based city branding with smart technologies seen as the vehicles for democratization and participatory character of both: city branding and heritage management. Findings: The paper identifies ‘smart’ methods and instruments, applicable and beneficial for the culture-driven city brand building. The new technologies were recognized as a key instrument of city branding in the area of cultural heritage as those that enable to the greatest extent the realization of the paradigms of citizen participation and coproduction and allow for the integration of smart living and smart people dimensions in the smart city’s cultural policy |

| Abstrakt | W opracowaniu podjęto próbę poszukiwania i objaśnienia analogii pomiędzy uniwersalizmem zjawiska decepcji w przyrodzie i oszustwa w sferze ekonomii. W obydwu obszarach analizy, zjawisko to najczęściej przyjmuje formę mimikry obronnej lub agresywnej. Do wykształcenia złożonych form oszukiwania, czy zwodzenia w świecie zwierząt doprowadziło rozpowszechnienie modelu drapieżca-ofiara, który poprzez maskowanie się lub udawanie kogoś innego, miał zapewnić ochronę przed atakiem lub taki atak ułatwić. W ekonomii można natomiast spotkać postawy przybierające postać mimikry, a więc analogicznego do przyrody kreowania się na kogoś innego, poprzez oszukańcze strategie stosowane przez różnorodnych wyzyskiwaczy, żerujących na naiwności stereotypach i automatyzmach ludzkich reakcji. Najczęściej są one spotykane w sferze marketingu, przybierając bardzo profesjonalne i wyrafinowane formy postaw marketerów i podmiotów przez nich reprezentowanych. Można tam dostrzec pewien symetryzm i analogie postępowań w zakresie odnoszenia indywidualnych korzyści kosztem innych. |
| Abstract | The aim of the study was to find and evaluate the analogy between the universality of the phenomenon of deception in nature and in economy. In both areas of the analysis, this most often takes a form of mimicry (defensive or aggressive). To create such complex forms of deception among animals, mostly contributed the prevalance of predator-victim model, and using guises or pretending to be something else, was supposed to provide protection against attack or just to facilitate such attack. In the economy one can find attitudes that take the form of mimicry, and thus analogous to the nature, which are also based on pretending to be someone else. This is used by some exploiters, reaping on stereotypes and automatisms of human behaviour. They are most often found in the marketing sphere, taking up very professional and sophisticated forms of attitudes of marketers and represented by them entities. Also there may be found some symmetry and analogies of behaviours in terms of gaining individual benefits at the expense of others. |

| Abstrakt | The paper sets out the key principles for taxation of agriculture in selected European Union countries. The theoretical foundations of tax systems in the context of their functions and features specified as desirable in the literature are discussed. EU agricultural taxation systems are presented in reference to optimisation and tax competitiveness. Some shared features of these agricultural taxation systems were pointed out and their division in two basic models (the British model and the continental model), which was presented taking as example the countries in which these models operate. Taxation of income derived from agricultural business activity is a natural direction of changes in tax systems. The tax policy implemented in the European Union countries in relation to agriculture make use of the principle of tax justice to the highest possible extent. The diversity of the tax rules and structures applied in the EU makes it possible to tax agricultural income without limiting the development potential of agricultural enterprises (farms), and often stimulates them. The form of individual tax systems results from numerous economic, social and political circumstances. Special tax treatment of agriculture is expressed through tax construction elements, e.g. right to deduct the value of generated loss or investment expenditure from taxable income. |

| Abstrakt | Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia zastosowanie modeli grawitacyjnych w bilateralnym handlu takimi artykułami rolnymi jak: pszenica, owies i kukurydza między UE a USA. Analiza obejmowała lata 2000-2016, a w skład zmiennych objaśniających weszły PKB, wskaźnik PSE, wartość dodana w rolnictwie oraz wartość dodana na pracownika w rolnictwie. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały występowanie znacznych zakłóceń w wymianie handlowej wybranymi produktami rolnymi pomiędzy UE i USA. W konsekwencji model grawitacyjny zastosowany dla pszenicy, owsa i kukurydzy nie potwierdził, że masy gospodarek wyrażone w ich realnym PKB przyciągają się i umacniają wymianę handlową. Zjawisko odpychania zauważono także dla wartości dodanych w rolnictwie. Badania pozwoliły natomiast wykazać, iż wsparcie rolnictwa tworzy efekty przyciągania handlu, dla pszenicy i owsa. |
| Abstract | This article presents the use of gravity models in bilateral trade in agricultural products such as wheat, oats and maize between the EU and the USA. The analysis covered the years 2000-2016, and the explanatory variables included GDP, PSE index, value added in agriculture and value added per employee in agriculture. The conducted research revealed significant disturbances in trade between selected EU and US agricultural products. Consequently, the gravity model applied to wheat, oats and maize did not confirm that the masses of economies expressed in their real GDP are attracting and strengthening trade. The phenomenon of repulsion was also noticed for added values in agriculture. However, the research has shown that agricultural support creates the effects of attracting trade, for wheat and oats. |
