Słowa kluczowe | global economic powers, growth factors, growth barriers, EU global position |
Key words | global economic powers, growth factors, growth barriers, EU global position |
Abstrakt | The subject of the paper is an analysis of the economic results of the main factors affecting GDP growth in the European Union in 2000-2016. The aim is to evaluate the global position of the EU as well as to identify the main factors affecting growth of the EU’s economic potential and effectiveness. The analysis also includes the long-term development gap in the EU-15/EU-28 versus the U.S.A. Quantitative and qualitative criteria were used in the assessment. Quantitative criteria include: growth rates of GDP, investments and exports, the EU’s share in global GDP, and global exports of goods and services. The qualitative criteria are: labour productivity and total factor productivity TFP. The results of the study are as follows: 1) evaluation of the EU position in the global economy (quantitative indicators) show a decline in the EU's share in global GDP, and trade and FDI were not greater than in the U.S.A.; 2) pertaining to the qualitative criteria the United States ranks better; 3) factors contributing the most to the weakening of the global economic position of the EU are: lower investment in the ICT sector compared to the U.S., differentiation of EU members in terms of their ability to grow, socio-economic divergence and a crisis in the eurozone. |

Abstract | The paper aims to analyze the changes in balancing of financial liquidity that took place in the European Union’s agricultural farms in the years 1989–2005. The comparative analysis was executed for chosen types of farms, namely: field crops (TF13), diary farms (TF41) and granivores livestock (TF50) based on current ratio. There were analyzed data collected by the EU Farm Accountancy Data Network. The results show that in analyzed period the average value of current ratio for chosen types of farms was at the level 2.5–4.5 comparing to 3.75–4.75 for all farms. Comparing only the chosen types of farms in 2005 the average values of their current ratio was very similar: 3.72–3.99, which is higher than recommended optimal value 1.5–2.0. However the current ratio values differs signify cantly among countries and were changing with no correlation. This did not allow to determine a trend for different types of farms in whole European Union. Regardless the type of farming low values of current ratio are observed in Denmark and Great Britain, the average values in Germany and France and the high values in Belgium, Italy, Portugal and Finland. The differences in current ratio between EU countries seams to be more significant than the differences between analyzed types of farming |

Title | Competitiveness of Polish agricultural farms of bigger economic size in comparison with those in selected EU member states |
Słowa kluczowe | dochód z rodzinnego gospodarstwa rolnego, typ rolniczy gospodarstwa, wartość dodana netto, wielkość ekonomiczna |
Key words | economic size, types of farming, farm net value added, family farm income |
Abstrakt | Na podstawie danych FADN analizowano wyniki ekonomiczne trzech typów rolniczychgospodarstw (TF13 – uprawy polowe, TF41 - bydło mleczne, TF50 – zwierzęta ziarnożerne) wwybranych krajach UE w 2004 r. Analizy prowadzono dla trzech największych klas wielkościekonomicznej. W miarę wzrostu skali produkcji, mierzonej wielkością ekonomiczną gospodarstw, naogół silnie rośnie efektywność pracy, majątku i kapitału własnego. Zaskakują najlepsze wyniki uzyskaneprzez gospodarstwa hiszpańskie i włoskie jak też słabe, w wielu przypadkach, uzyskane przezrozreklamowane gospodarstwa duńskie, francuskie, niemieckie czy holenderskie. Polskie gospodarstwa, zarówno pod względem dochodowości pracy własnej jak i rentowności majątku i kapitału, okazały siękonkurencyjne, szczególnie te specjalizujące się w uprawach polowych i chowie zwierząt ziarnożernych. |
Abstract | Economical results of farms of three types of farming (TF13 – field crops, TF41 – diary farms,TF50 – grainvores livestock) in selected EU member states in 2004 were analysed basing on FADN data. The research was done for three classes of biggest economic size. Usually the bigger the productionoutput, measured by the economic size of farm, the bigger labour efficiency and assets and equityprofitability. What may wonder are the good results of Spanish and Italian farms and some poor results ofDanish, French, German or Dutch farms. Polish farms appeared to be competitive with regard to ownlabour productivity and profitability of assets and equity, especially these specialized in field crops andgrainvores livestock |
