Abstract | Direct selling of agricultural products means selling of products directly to consumers away from a fixed retail location without using any other organization or company. The success of direct selling is determined by the factors such as distance of the company from the homes of customers, important is also transportation network, readiness of the company for this type of selling as well as following the given rules and legislation together with respecting market potential and marketing approach of the company. Extending the activities of the company in this direction is strongly connected with utilization of marketing tools within marketing conception. Success of this activity is influenced by recognition of motivation as well as other conditions for direct selling of agricultural products from original producer. Paper points at importance of direct selling of agricultural products based on own questionnaire research. To get as close as possible to final consumers with fresh products and selling these products directly to consumers away from a fixed retail location are the most important points. Producers are constantly looking for adequate distribution channels for their produce which would satisfied requirements of customers and obtain a reasonable effect for producers as well. Direct selling of agricultural products is a form of sales, which does not appear so frequently in the practice because of urgent need for industrial treatment of most agricultural products. Despite this fact, direct selling of agricultural products has its own unique economic, commercial and non-productive substantiation. For direct selling is the most important to use the tools of product policy . The direct selling of agricultural products is concentrated mainly on traditional agricultural products or their processed food products - dominant is quality of sold product. Quality of the product influences directly image of the product as well as the groups of customers of direct selling. Direct selling from the farms in the Slovak Republic contributes to the total revenues for the agricultural production capacity from 6% to 7%. Direct selling is more intensive in the companies selling fruit and vegetables, where the volume of direct sales reaches 10% to 15% share of sales. Although direct selling is the just additional distribution way, it is appropriate to choose a strategy that respects the manufacturing offer of the company and the economy of the sales. Within direct selling of agricultural products, there is also a need to use the tools of communication policy, such as advertising, sales promotion and public relations to get closer to the target customer. |

Abstract | The Contribution Fund of the Farmers Social Insurance (part of The Agricultural Social Insurance Fund – KRUS) is created form contributions into accident, health and maternity insurance and other sources specified in the statutes assuring full coverage of the contribution fund expenditure. For this type of insurance are not involved funds from the state budget. In recent years the fund has a quota of about 0.5 billion zł, equating income to expenditure. However, projections indicate that in the coming years, the Fund will not be able to meet its revenue expenditure. There are some opportunities to improve its financial situation. This would require the conversion of the Fund's insurance company. It seems that the path of restructuring in this case is straightforward because the Contribution Fund shall have legal personality, the Supervisory Board and Executive Board. If the Contribution Fund has become an insurance company, then it could result in crop insurance, buildings and livestock with subsidies from the state budget. This fund as an insurance company could realize the catastrophic insurance and insurance of forests or other agricultural assets, which currently does not insure commercial insurance companies. |

Abstract | The preparations for the conduct of the European Championships in Poland in football in 2012 is the strategic project for several years. This process consists of two fundamental issues: preparation of the infrastructure to carry out the tournament and conditioning the development of an appropriate organization which allows for up to the efficient conduct of such a large and long mass event. It should be emphasized that all elements of preparation for the tournament possibly require modern and efficient management methods. Efficient implementation of tasks in terms of their organization, in this case is not one-off in an emergency situation or emergency. Cultural change (if made?) may mean that Polish institutions function effectively in the modern managerial environment. |

Abstract | This article shows the changes of structural census of agricultural enterprises which was lastly performed in 2010. The census of agriculture is published every ten years. The aim of the article is to show the impact of farm’s legal forms on sources of funding which is one of two main objectives of article’s research. Second objective explains the correlation of legal status of enterprises and sources of external funds. From the comparison of these two points, the result will either confirm or refute the claims that farms should have the highest contribution of external capital to achieve the ideal results. In the paper the difference in funding between the two legal forms was confirmed. The indebtedness of commercial companies is considerably higher in both observed years (2003, 2009). Another finding is that during the observed period (2003-2009) the proportion of commercial companies with higher indebtedness increased significantly. Since Slovakia joined the EU the amount of external sources has risen and it is still rising. But a positive respond in profitability of agriculture enterprises was not observed, as would be expected. According to the Cluster Analysis the centroids of both legal forms were unprofitable in 2003. By comparison between the year 2003, the year in which Slovakia joined the EU and the year 2009, we observe an overall increase in the economic result from the negative to the positive integers. The year 2009 from the point of view of the farmers we can apperceive as a positive year in terms of the world prices, which were on the historical highest level. These prices were supported by a weak U.S. dollar. In the paper the difference in management of the two legal forms was confirmed. In both observed years commercial companies have the highest ratio of external funds, the lowest number employees and the lowest area per hectare. And cooperatives can be characterized with the highest number of employees and also the highest area per hectare. |

Abstract | Growing of oil crops has spread considerably in the last years. The most important oil crop grown in our conditions is oilseed rape. In this paper we evaluate the growing of oilseed rape from the production and economic point of view. We focused on the years 2004 – 2010. Obtained results show that the economic advantage of oilseed rape growing is affected mainly by the climatic conditions as well as by the intensification of production and support policy. The year 2008 was economically most advantageous of evaluated years. The highest loss within the growing of oilseed rape was recorded in 2009. Higher hectare yield of oilseed rape can be achieved by the intensification of production. |

Abstract | Agriculture as one of major industries of the national economy is closely connected with the development of the whole country, especially rural regions and food production. Therefore it should be viewed as an important factor of rural development and economic stability of the whole country. The main aim of article is to compare the position of plant production and agriculture in two EU countries: Slovakia and Latvia. Realization of the mentioned objective required the research within the period of the years 2009-2010. We used basic organizational and economic relations and numeric calculations while analyzing and forming the theoretical and practical solutions. According to crop production between Slovakia and Latvia outlines some similarities, the situation was reversed and crops production for most commodities has fallen, particularly in case of cereals, but some separate crops have the various tend. For example in Slovakia case crop production rise of legumes and sugar beet, parallel in Latvia case crop production increase rapidly of buckwheat and rape. In consequence it draws differences in crop production priorities which depends from a large number of different circumstances between two described countries. |

Abstract | New Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in 2014-2020 introduces the changes in direct payments. Progressive reduction and capping of the payment will have impact mainly on big enterprises managing large land area. This is a reality in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The paper is devoted to quantify and model the impact of forthcoming changes on the management of farms in Slovakia. As the results in chosen enterprises in Slovakia proved, these changes have a negative effect on the enterprises which are mainly the large ones with the low sales as well as the small salaries paid per hectare in comparison with the rest of the companies in Slovakia. In sense of effectiveness and rural development we do consider planned changes in direct payments as rational. |

Abstract | The primary goal of the paper is to state the development of cash-flow in Slovak agriculture. The observed period covers 11 years, which offers the opportunity to analyze three separate periods: the pre-accession period 2000-2003, the old CAP from 2004-2006 and the current CAP 2007-2010. The data for individual companies - corporations - were obtained from The Research Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics (RIAFE) for the period 2000 – 2010. The research has shown that entering EU and adopting Common agricultural policy had a positive impact on the cash flow from operating activities.
