The importance of agritourism in rural development

Abstract
The paper presents the role and importance of agritourism in rural development. The concept and the essence of agritourism have been discussed, as well as the state of its development in Poland. It was followed by presentation of the preconditions for its development and its positive social and economic outcomes. The risks and negative consequences of this form of tourism were analysed.
