Abstrakt | The article is devoted to the research of local determinants of HoReCa sphere subject economic behavior in the wholesale markets of agricultural production under hospitality sphere globalization in Ukraine. The authors generalized the key provisions of consumer market behavior theories and its formation factors in HoReCa sphere. The peculiarities of agricultural wholesale market functioning are defined and the competitive surrounding of wholesale food market in western region of Ukraine is characterized. Main principles of business organization in HoReCa sphere are studied; the impact of globalization and foreign economic activity vectors on this sphere internationalization is outlined. The results of research project made by the authors are given, which was aimed at examining motives and peculiarities of HoReCa customers market behavior when wholesale purchasing agricultural production for their own business. The research was conducted on the basis of “Shuvar” market of agricultural production Ltd. - the largest in Western Ukraine wholesale agricultural market. It consists of several specialized food halls, including HoReCa centre. The structure of HoReCa establishments, that are “Shuvar” wholesale market clients, is analyzed. The factors influencing their managers’ decisions, concerning purchase assortment, its frequency, the most convenient time of goods delivery, are investigated. The evaluation of significance degree of certain products purchase, including price, products homogeneity, their constant availability, exclusiveness, is received. HoReCa sphere subjects’ wishes were studied, concerning purchase information support in the wholesale market, for service quality improvement. |

Abstrakt | This study scrutinized the effect of outreach on financial sustainability and profitability of SACCOs in Eastern Ethiopia using balanced panel data from 33 SACCOs over the period of 2017-2019. Quantitative approach and explanatory design were employed to realize the stated objective. This study used secondary data sources, mainly audited financial statement of the SACCOs, in the study period. The analysis revealed that SACCOs in Eastern Ethiopia are profitable but not financially sustainable. Random effect model results show that gross loan to asset ratio, yield on gross loan portfolio, managerial and operational efficiency has statistically significant and positive effect on the financial sustainability of SACCOs, while average loan size has statistically significant but negative effect. Likewise, gross loan to asset ratio, managerial efficiency, and average loan size has statistically significant and positive effect on the profitability of SACCOs in Eastern Ethiopia. However, the portion of women borrowers and number of active borrowers has statistically significant but negative effect on the profitability of the SACCOs in the study area. Finally, the study suggests that increasing the number of borrowing clients and sales volume (loan portfolio) could benefit SACCOs in Eastern Ethiopia from economics of scale. |

Abstrakt | W artykule zostały zaprezentowane wybrane modele regresji logistycznej, które służą do analizy przedsiębiorstw w zakresie zagrożenia bankructwem jak i zmiany w sytuacji finansowej. Jak wynika z literatury z zakresu finansów do oceny kondycji finansowej przedsiębiorstwa należy zastosować odpowiednie metody. Błędna ocena może przynieść przykre konsekwencje dla przedsiębiorstwa, w postaci podjęcia nietrafionych decyzji przez zarządzających, odmowy udzielenia kredytu bankowego lub niepodjęcia współpracy przez dostawców i odbiorców. Celem artykułu była weryfikacja skuteczności predykcji 12 modeli regresji logistycznej, które pozwalają na dokonanie oceny zagrożenia bankructwem przedsiębiorstwa a także zajęcia stanowiska odnośnie przyszłej kondycji finansowej. Próba badawcza wynosiła 40 przedsiębiorstw, w tym 8 przedsiębiorstw, dla których został złożony wniosek o upadłość. Jak wynika z przeprowadzonych badań, poszczególne modele odznaczają się różną sprawnością ogólną, która wyniosła od 54% do 98%. Ponadto wykazano, że wraz ze wzrostem wskaźników analizy finansowej użytych w konstrukcji funkcji nie zwiększa się sprawność poszczególnych modeli. Autor podsumowuje, że w celu uniknięcia ryzyka przeprowadzenia niewiarygodnej oceny kondycji finansowej przedsiębiorstwa, należy zastosować co najmniej kilka modeli logitowych. |
Abstract | The article presents selected logistic regression models that are used to analyze enterprises in terms of their risk of bankruptcy and changes in their financial situation. As it appears from the literature on finance, it is necessary to apply appropriate methods to assess the financial condition of an enterprise. Incorrect assessment may cause unpleasant consequences for the company, in the form of taking wrong decisions by managers, refusal to be granted a bank loan or failure to undertake cooperation with suppliers and customers. The aim of the article was to verify the effectiveness of the prediction of 12 logistic regression models, that allow for the assessment of an enterprise’s bankruptcy risk and its future financial condition. The research sample was 40 companies, including 8 enterprises for which a bankruptcy petition had been filed. As results from the conducted research, individual models have different general efficiency, which ranged from 54% to 98%. In addition, it was seen that the efficiency of particular models does not increase with an increase of the financial analysis indicators used in the construction of the function. The author concludes that in order to avoid the risk of making an unreliable assessment of the financial condition of a company, at least 10 logistic models should be used. |

Abstrakt | Celem artykułu było wskazanie determinant rozwoju ekoinnowacji wprowadzanych w przedsiębiorstwach agrobiznesu oraz głównych barier powodujących niechęć dla działań inwestycyjnych o charakterze ekologicznym. Badania przeprowadzono w drugim kwartale 2019 roku na obszarach wiejskich województwa pomorskiego wśród właścicieli, kierowników bądź osób zajmujących się ochroną środowiska. Badania wykazały, że oprócz korzyści środowiskowych czynnikiem determinującym wprowadzanie ekoinnowacji są korzyści ekonomiczne i społeczne. Badane przedsiębiorstwa inwestowały najczęściej w OZE, segregację odpadów i modernizację linii technologicznych. Wskazano również na bariery, na jakie napotykają przedsiębiorstwa agrobiznesu. Wśród najważniejszych należy wymienić przestarzałą infrastrukturę, ograniczenia finansowe, wysokie koszty ekoinnowacji i prowadzenie działalności w warunkach niepewności rynkowej. |
Abstract | The aim of the article was to indicate determinants of the development of eco-innovations implemented in agribusiness companies and chief barriers that trigger reluctance towards investments of ecological nature. Research was conducted in rural areas of Pomorskie Province in the second quarter of 2019 among owners, managers and others who operate in the field of environment protection. The research showed that, besides environmental benefits, the decisive factor for the implementation of eco-innovations are the economical and social benefits. The surveyed companies mostly invested in RES, waste segregation and modernization of existing technological lines. Also, certain barriers were indicated which agribusiness companies still encounter. The most important of those include outmoded infrastructure, financial limitations, high cost of eco-innovations and operating in the conditions of market instability. |

Abstrakt | The article aims to identify areas/factors that may motivate or discourage managers of cultural institutions from getting actively involved in the process of building the Lodz brand for cultural resources. The article describes the manager profile of cultural institutions and presents an ordered list of factors (stimuli) that have a positive or negative impact on the activities of managers of cultural institutions in the area of creating the city brand. The empirical basis of the article is interviews with managers and promotion employees in the city's cultural institutions in Lodz. Data analysis was carried out by the principles of grounded theory methodology. The research has been carried out since December 2017 within the Department of Marketing and the Department of City and Region Management of the Faculty of Management at the University of Lodz as part of the project: "Cooperation of public administration with cultural institutions in the context of building a city brand". |
Abstract | Celem artykułu jest zidentyfikowanie obszarów/ czynników, które mogą motywować lub też zniechęcać menedżerów instytucji kultury do aktywnego zaangażowania się w proces budowania marki Łodzi o zasoby kultury. W artykule opisano profil menedżera instytucji kultury oraz zaprezentowano uporządkowaną lisy czynników (bodźców), które mają pozytywny bądź negatywny wpływ na działania menedżerów instytucji kultury w obszarze kreowania marki miasta. Podstawę empiryczną artykułu stanowią wywiady przeprowadzone z menedżerami i pracownikami ds. promocji w miejskich instytucjach kultury w Łodzi. Analiza danych została przeprowadzona zgodnie z zasadami metodologii teorii ugruntowanej. Abstrakt | The article substantiates that the contemporary labour market with its flexibility, volatility, high innovation dynamics, as its main features, introduces new requirements for employees. The study analyses the Ukrainian population’s employment, in the rural areas, forestry and fishing, in particular. The study determines the problems of the insufficient level of satisfaction of the employers’ need in employees. The research sums up different scientific approaches to the expectation that employers have to professional specialists. It establishes that employers' requirements for future employees differ regarding their professional experience. The article explains the findings of the research assisting specialists to focus on the core knowledge concerning the practical aspect. The article provides analysis that refers to the set of personal qualities and abilities acting as factors of managers’ compliance with the demands of the contemporary labour market. The findings of the article single out the role and significance of logical thinking as a component of forming successful managers. |

As a part of empirical studies, we carried out interviews with managers at 52 of food industry companies. Poland’s accession to the EU, the managers’ experience gained on foreign markets and geographical proximity of foreign markets were the main determinants of internationalization for the respondents. For food industry companies, EU markets are the most attractive while export activities constitute the most common form of internationalization. |

Abstrakt | W ostatnich latach w Polsce rosną ceny ziemi rolniczej, a maleje jej podaż na rynku prywatnym. Sprzyja to rozwojowi zjawiska dzierżawy, która w wielu krajach europejskich jest podstawą prowadzenia działalności rolniczej. Celem opracowania jest charakterystyka dochodów otrzymywanych przez gospodarstwa indywidualne w Polsce z dzierżawy ziemi użytkowanej rolniczo i zmian dochodów w latach 2005-2016. Podstawę analiz stanowiły jednostkowe dane empiryczne, dane z badań sondażowych przeprowadzanych corocznie przez GUS, a ich uzupełnieniem były dane IERiGŻ-PIB, ANR (obecnie KOWR) i opracowania wtórne GUS. W wyniku badań stwierdzono, że dochody z dzierżaw prywatnych uległy podwojeniu w latach 2005-2016 i stanowiły ważny składnik dochodów korzystających z nich rodzin, ale z deklaracji badanych wynika, że miały one niewielką skalę (przeciętnie 0,3% gospodarstw indywidualnych). Grunty rolne były wydzierżawiane przez małe gospodarstwa, których głównym źródłem utrzymania była praca najemna, czasem za granicą, a kierownicy byli starsi niż przeciętnie. Często sytuacja rodzinna była nieuregulowana (np. starszy rodzic z dorosłym, ale jeszcze samotnym dzieckiem, które jeszcze ostatecznie nie zdecydowało o swej przeszłości), a okresowe wydzierżawienie gruntów pozwalało na podjęcie decyzji o ewentualnej sprzedaży gospodarstwa w późniejszym czasie. |
Abstract | In last years, the prices of agricultural land in Poland have been rising, and the supply on the private market is decreasing. This favors the development of the lease phenomenon, which in many European countries is the basis for conducting agricultural activity.The purpose of the article was to characterize the income received by individual farms in Poland, from the lease of agriculture land and their changes in the years 2005-2016. The analysis was based of polls unitary empirical data, carried out annually by the Central Statistical Office, and supplemented by data of Institute of Agricultural Economics (IERiGŻ-PIB), Agricultural Property Agency (currently KOWR) and secondary studies of the Central Statistical Office. As a result of the research, it was found that revenues from private leases doubled in 2005-2016 and constitute an important component of revenues for families using them, but the respondents’ declarations show that they are small (on average 0.3% of individual farms). This is small farms, whose main source of income is wage labor, sometimes abroad, and managers are older than average. Often the family situation is unregulated (eg. an elderly parent with an adult but has not yet decided his past), and a periodic land lease allows for a decision on the possible sale of the farm at a later time. |

Abstrakt | The idea of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) represents the voluntary effort that companies invest in social life. Companies incorporate the concept of CSR strategy in their businesses, knowing its importance to the benefit of the public at large and to sustainable development. Any activity of any major company is exposed to public opinion, which plays a key role in shaping the image of the company. Companies compete to win social trust and acceptance of their activity. The aim of the article was to present the value and significance of CSR activities undertaken by companies, using the example of two businesses, i.e. Polski Koncern Naftowy (PKN) Orlen and Kompania Piwowarska in reference to sustainable development. The article compares the CSR measurement matrix that allows assessing whether a given company is socially responsible, to what extent CSR activities affect the company's stakeholders and to what extent they are consistent with sustainable development (assigning particular CSR development tools by Stakeholders applying the weights from 1 to 3). ISO 26000 standards define the principles of social and environmental responsibility as a guide for organizations and in the analysed companies are a tool that exerts one of the greatest impacts on stakeholders. For both companies, the most important stakeholders are Shareholders and Managers, and they are the ones who, to the largest extent, conduct a socially responsible dialogue for which all CSR development tools are important. Both companies conduct key activities, PKN Orlen used 91% and Kompania Piwowarska 73% of all CSR development tools considered in this study. |

Abstrakt | Celem opracowania jest charakterystyka źródeł zaopatrzenia lokali gastronomicznych w produkty nabiałowe z uwzględnieniem różnic ze względu na typ lokalu gastronomicznego, jego lokalizację oraz liczbę pracowników. Wyniki badań ilościowych zrealizowanych z menedżerami lokali gastronomicznych pokazują, że wybór źródła zaopatrzenia w te produkty jest zależny od typu placówki gastronomicznej. Restauracje mają największy udział zaopatrzenia w hurtowniach świadczących usługę dostawy zamówionego towaru do klienta i hurtowniach samoobsługowych. W barach duże znaczenie mają także zakupy u lokalnych sprzedawców. Dodatkowo wielkość przedsiębiorstwa i lokalizacja różnicują wybór źródła zaopatrzenia. Największe zróżnicowanie w wyborze źródła zaopatrzenia występuje ze względu na lokalizację przedsiębiorstwa gastronomicznego. Najczęstszymi dostawcami produktów nabiałowych do lokali gastronomicznych są lokalni dostawcy i hurtownie samoobsługowe Makro i Selgros. |
Abstract | The purpose of the study is to characterize the sources of supply of catering establishments in dairy products due to the type of catering establishment, its location and the number of employees. The results of quantitative research conducted with catering establishments managers show that the source of supply depends on the type of catering establishment. In the case of restaurants the largest share of supply is wholesalers with delivery or self-service. In the case of bars it is also important to shop at local retailers. Also the size of the business and location differentiate the choice of source of supply. The greatest variation in the source of supply is due to the location of the catering company. The most frequent suppliers of dairy products to catering establishments are local suppliers and self-service wholesalers: Makro and Selgros. |

Abstrakt | Open innovation requires skills to manage various processes of knowledge development, such as the ability to acquire knowledge, its commercialization, development and protection of intellectual property, shaping the relationship between the company and its surroundings. Many companies declare openness to innovations, at the same time the organizational structure, existing procedures, management culture, incentive systems are not ready to seek and transfer knowledge. The biggest challenge for managers is to carry out a transformation process from closed organization to an origination that is open to innovation. The article analyses the possibility of building an organizational and legal structure with the so-called ‘permeable borders’, open to innovation. After reviewing the literature, analysing the cases of chemical companies, conducting interviews with members of the Grupa Azoty Puławy consortium, I propose a cooperation platform for various organizations operating for the agricultural market which is open to acquiring and implementing innovations, but also for outsourcing. |

Abstrakt | The aim of the article is to analyse the scale of use and to assess the services related to modern information and communication technologies at food processing enterprises and to identify the dependencies between the obtained indices and the features characterising the entities surveyed. The grounds for considerations are findings of the surveys with 201 managers of enterprises of this sector, differentiated in terms of size. The analysis comprised the three areas of ICT services: telecommunications services, services related to software and consultancy in the IT area, and information-related services. The results indicate a wide scope of the use of ICT services – telecommunication services are used by all the entities surveyed, those related to software and consultancy – by three quarters, while information-related services – by almost 60%. In case of all entities there are noted growing outlays on their application, justified, on the one side, by the demand, and, on the other side, by high appraisals of their quality and up-to-datedness (more than 70% of indications) as well as their impact on competitiveness of the entities using them (percentages at the level of more than 60%). It must be said that there occur quite big differences in the indices obtained, due to the features of the enterprises in question. Most often statistically significant dependencies appear in case of information-related services – they are determined by the size of enterprises and the origin of their capital. In case of the services related to software and IT consultancy, the said dependencies also concern the enterprises’ size and, additionally, the range of their activities. Definitely most seldom the statistically significant dependencies occur in case of telecommunication services. |

Abstrakt | The impact assessment of the Common Agricultural Policy on transformation process of Polish agriculture following Poland’s accession to European Union has been carried out. The analysis took into account the changes of the Common Agricultural Policy in terms of goals and the directions of its evolution. In the paper the alterations in land, labour and capital resources of Polish agriculture were also analysed. It has been established that funds coming from the Community budget allowed Polish agriculture to adjust to the requirement of new environment. Integration into the European Union has created good conditions to dynamic development of the agri-food sector as a whole. Acceleration of the modernization and restructuring processes of Polish farms has taken place. These developments have resulted in a reduction in the total number of farms (by 52%) at the simultaneous rise in their average area (by 78%). Union financial measures have also influenced on generational renewal amongst farms managers. The funds considerably enhanced farmers’ incomes, which increased by 156%, thus promoting expenditure on investments. As a result the improvement of technical utilities of farms has been achieved. Consequently, labour productivity growth in Polish agriculture has also been recorded. A wide range of measures within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy enables to overcome many obstacles of the rural areas in Poland. It also creates possibilities to take advantage of naturally occurring assets in order to effectively compete on the external market. |

Abstrakt | A health care is characterised of creating an individual, specific relation between representatives of health care units and patients, which means that not only medical staff professionalism but also an empathetic attitude towards patients are important questions. Literature regarding the issue of communication with patients is growing, there are as well workshops in an effective communication, nevertheless the topic is still of minor importance. Meanwhile, relations between medical personnel and patients may put a major impact on the quality of health care as well as patients satisfaction with medical services, what is important from a management point of view. A proper way of patients’ treatment by medical personnel may result not only in better attitude towards therapy, but also it may influence a more efficient management of health care facilities, as patient satisfied with medical services may recommend an organisation, which may have a positive impact on an institution’s image, allowing a manager to focus on more important aspects of an institution management. For the above reasons it is important to get to know medical personnel’s attitude to developing as well as improving communication skills in order to provide a holistic patients care, what can significantly influence a health care units management. Medical staff communication skills are important not only from a treatment perspective, but they can also be significant from the perspective of health care organisations management. The study material was gathered in the first quarter of 2014. In the final analysis questionnaires from 113 representatives of various medical professions were taken into consideration. The study results show that in the process of medical professionals education there is only a little attention paid to acquiring communication skills regarding communication between a patient and medical personnel. Also, the hypothesis according to which medical personnel is satisfied with communication with patients was confirmed. Furthermore, medical staff agree in stating that they care for a proper communication with patients. Conclusions coming from the study results may define a specific way of health care units management, which should comprise, among others, financial resources for trainings in medical personnel soft skills improvement. |

Abstrakt | W artykule zaprezentowane i omówione zostały czynniki motywacji personelu sprzedażowego. Podstawowa teza artykułu skoncentrowana została na omówieniu instrumentów wykorzystanych przez kadrę menadżerską do konstruowania systemu motywacji. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja instrumentów motywacji stosowanych w przedsiębiorstwach z uwzględnieniem kryterium wielkości oraz segmentu rynku i rodzaju klientów. Zidentyfikowane zależności mogą mieć istotny wpływ na przyszły kształt i charakter tworzonych systemów motywacyjnych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roli personelu sprzedażowego, działającego w bezpośrednim kontakcie z klientami.W autorskich badaniach, dotyczących zarządzania relacjami z klientem, przeprowadzonych metodą CATI wśród małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w województwie opolskim, podjęte zostały m.in. zagadnienia związane z funkcjonowaniem personelu sprzedażowego odpowiedzialnego za współpracę z kapitałem klientów w tych przedsiębiorstwach.Na podstawie wyników przeprowadzonej kwerendy literaturowej, doświadczeń płynących ze współpracy z przedsiębiorstwami regionu oraz autorskich badań dot. zarządzania relacjami z kapitałem klienckim w sektorze MŚP, opracowane zostały rekomendacje dotyczące działań mających na celu kreowanie zaangażowania personelu sprzedażowego. |
Abstract | The article presents and discusses the motivations of sales staff. The basic thesis of the article was focused on discussing the instruments used by the managerial staff to construct the motivation system.The purpose of the article is to identify motivation instruments used in enterprises, taking into account the size criterion as well as market segments and the type of clients. Identified dependencies may have a significant impact on the future shape and nature of the motivation systems, developed with particular emphasis on the role of sales staff operating in direct contact with customers.In the author's research on customer relationship management carried out among small and medium-sized enterprises in the Opolskie voivodship, issues related to the operation of sales staff responsible for cooperation with clients' capital in these enterprises were also undertaken.Based on the results of a literature query, experience from cooperation with regional enterprises and original research on managing customer-relationship relations in the SME sector, recommendations have been developed regarding activities aimed at creating involvement of sales staff. |

Abstrakt | Postępująca globalizacja, rozwój technologii, wahania koniunktury rynkowej to tylko niektóre trendy mające wpływ na tworzenie specyficznych wymagań kompetencyjnych wobec menedżerów. Spółdzielnie są ważnymi podmiotami na całym świecie, szczególnie w rolnictwie, a zwłaszcza w przetwórstwie mleka. Warto zatem zastanowić się, jakimi kompetencjami powinna wyróżniać się zatrudniona w nich kadra kierownicza, aby zapewniać im stabilny i długotrwały rozwój. Celem opracowania jest zaprezentowanie zestawu pożądanych kompetencji dla kadry kierowniczej w spółdzielniach mleczarskich. Do realizacji przyjętego celu oraz weryfikacji postawionych tez zastosowano analizę literatury krajowej i zagranicznej oraz badania eksperckie. Wśród kompetencji menedżerskich w spółdzielniach mleczarskich wyodrębniono: kompetencje osobiste wyznaczone cechami osobowymi, kompetencje społeczne związane ze stosunkiem do drugiego człowieka i kompetencje menedżerskie polegające na sposobie realizacji roli kierowników. Menedżerowie spółdzielni mleczarskich powinni posiadać szereg typowych kompetencji menedżerskich, takich jak: motywowanie, myślenie analityczne i strategiczne, orientacja w biznesie i orientacja na klienta oraz przywództwo. |
Abstract | Increasing globalization, technological development, and market fluctuations are just some of the trends that influence the formation of specific competence requirements for managers. Cooperatives are important players in the world, particularly in agriculture, and especially in the processing of milk. It is therefore worth considering what competencies should be developed by managers employed in this industry, in order to provide them with stable and long-term opportunities. The aim of this article is to develop a set of desired competencies for executives in dairy cooperatives. The research included analysis of domestic and foreign literature and of research experts. Among the managerial competencies needed for dairy cooperatives were: personal competencies designated by personal qualities, social competencies related to inter-personal relationships and managerial competencies in the methods used by managers. Dairy cooperative managers should also have a number of typical managerial competencies such as motivation, analytical and strategic thinking, business orientation, customer orientation and leadership. |

Abstrakt | W artykule przedstawiono ocenę motywowania pracowników wykonawczych w spółkach hodowlanych należących do Agencji Nieruchomości Rolnych. W ocenie tej skupiono się na określeniu stopnia zaspokojenia oczekiwań pracowników, rozpoznaniu hierarchii ważności podstawowych motywów pracy oraz ocenie umiejętności kadry kierowniczej dotyczących motywowania pracowników. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że gros oczekiwań pracowników nie było w pełni zaspokajanych. W największym stopniu dotyczyło to oczekiwań związanych z podwyżką wynagrodzeń oraz awansem. Najważniejszymi motywami wykonywania pracy okazały się wysokość wynagrodzenia oraz pewność posiadania pracy. Umiejętności kadry kierowniczej dotyczące motywowania pracowników były na średnim poziomie. W motywowaniu pracowników kadra kierownicza zbyt mało wagi przywiązywała do indywidualnego rozwoju zawodowego poszczególnych pracowników. |
Abstract | The aim of the paper was to evaluate motivating of the workforce in state owned breeding companies of the Agricultural Property Agency. The evaluation focused on the level of meeting employees’ expectations, identification of the hierarchy of motives as well as assessment of managers’ skills in the field of motivating employees. The results of the study show that the majority of employees’ expectations were not met. It applied particularly to expectations connected with wage increase and promotion. Both level of wage and work stability turned out to be the most important motives. Managerial skills in motivating employees to work were rated as mediocre. Managers attached too little attention to professional development of individual employees. |
