Title | ARE POLISH BANKS STABLE? A SYSTEMIC RISK ANALYSIS |
Słowa kluczowe | stabilność finansowa, ryzyko systemowe, model sieci |
Key words | financial stability, systemic risk, network model, banking system |
W ciągu ostatnich 10 lat podjęto wiele międzynarodowych i krajowych inicjatyw mających na celu wzmocnienie stabilności systemu finansowego, wprowadzając perspektywę makroostrożnościową do nadzoru finansowego. |
Abstract | The financial crisis that began in 2007 pointed out deficiencies in policy-makers’ responsesto systemic risk. It turned out that not only individual bank insolvencies but also spillovers fromnegative externalities among entities can cause serious threats to the financial sector. During thelast 10 years, many international and national initiatives were taken to strengthen the soundnessof the financial system, introducing a macroprudential perspective to financial supervision. However, the recent COVID19 pandemic resulted in a serious negative shock for many economiesand their financial sectors. In this paper, using the network model we try to analyse how theserecent unexpected developments affected the Polish banking sector with systemic risk. To analysePolish bank stability we developed a formal stress-testing framework based on the network modelthat allowed systemic risk identification, modelling and measurement. We tried to integrateanalysis of time and the cross-sectional nature of systemic risk. |

Key words | |
Abstrakt | Every taxpayer is obliged to pay tax on their profits, but if taxpayers feel that the government is opaque and ineffective with their taxes, their willingness to pay taxes is reduced. At the same time, the higher the tax rate for tax subjects, the lower their interest in paying taxes. The optimal tax burden should be a burden that encourages people to work and stimulate businesses to create value. Each state seeks to maximize tax revenues as part of its tax policy, while at the same time ensuring that the tax system does not interfere with the economy or negatively affect the business environment. The state strives to maintain the most optimal state tax system and to support the market economy and competitiveness. Therefore, the state must have a tax administration that can collect taxes efficiently, and consequently, the tax system in the state should be such that the redistribution of collected taxes will be as efficient and fair as possible. The main goal of the article is to examine the dependence of tax policy on the agricultural business economy and find an effective variant of enterprise income taxation, which should have a positive impact on the business activity and competitiveness of companies in the selected sector of the economy and such taxation still would be beneficial for the state. The article will also set out some hypotheses based on the gained theoretical knowledge, as well as on the set research question. |

Key words | |
Abstrakt | Controlling as an in-house management system is not only focused on profit management and cost control,in a selected region of the Slovak Republic. Liquidity is the ability of a company to transform assets into money and pay its liabilities on time. Effective financial management is one of the basic tasks of financial control. The main source of information for this control is the financial statement of companies. Based on the data from the financial statements of agricultural enterprises operating in the Nitra Region, we quantified and evaluated the development of current, quick, and cash ratio liquidity, as well as credit less and corrected liquidity for the period 2015–2019. The Nitra Region is one of the regions where agricultural activity has favourable conditions for its development. We analysed a total of 149 farms. From the point of view of the legal form, agricultural cooperatives show more favourable results of ʽclassic’ and credit fewer liquidities in all years. On the contrary, from the point of view of the calculation of corrected liquidities, which take into account the binding of selected items of assets and liabilities, trading companies achieve better results than agricultural cooperatives. |

Abstrakt | Many cities in developing countries are experiencing ecosystem modification and change. Today, about 10 million hectares of the world’s forest cover have been converted to other land uses. In Nigeria, there is an estimated increase of 8.75 million ha of cropland and decrease of about 1.71 million ha of forest cover between 1995 to 2020, indicating that Nigeria has been undergoing a wide range of land use and land cover changes. This paper analyses the changes in land use/cover in Ila Orangun, Southwestern, Nigeria from 1986 to 2018, with a view to providing adequate information on the pattern and trend of land use and land cover changes for proper monitoring and effective planning. The study utilized satellite images from Landsat 1986, 2002 and 2018. Remote sensing and Geographical Information System techniques as well as supervised image classification method were used to assess the magnitude of changes in the city over the study period. The results show that 26.36% of forest cover and 44.48% of waterbody were lost between the period of 1986 and 2018. There was a rapid increase in crop land by 365.7% and gradual increase in built-up areas by 103.85% at an annual rate of 3.25%. Forest was the only land cover type that recorded a constant reduction in areal extent. The study concluded that the changes in land use and land cover is a result of anthropogenic activities in the study area. |

Abstrakt | The study was conducted to find out female farmers’ agricultural information needs and their impact on food production, in the Imbulpe DS Division in Sri Lanka. Of the female farmers in the area, 238 were taken as the sample for the study from seven selected Grama Niladhari (GN) divisions in the area. Female farmers were selected by using a simple random sampling method from these purposively selected GN divisions. A pre-tested, interviewer-administered questionnaire survey was used as the primary data collection method from March to July 2019. Data analysis was done by using descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis. The result revealed that the majority (62.6%) of respondents were middle aged (40-59 years), married, and belonged to families with 4-5 members. Most respondents (64.3 %) had studied up to junior secondary education level. Their average farm land size is 0.84 acres and they have farming experience of about 15 years. Most of the respondents mentioned that they had obtained higher levels of information needs about improved crop varieties. In addition, female farmers reported that they moderately need information on application of agrochemicals, improved market systems and modern farming technologies. Extension agents and other female farmers act as their major sources of agricultural information and ICT equipment acts as the least important agricultural information source in this area. Moreover, there is a significant positive association between the agricultural information needs and food production. Therefore, providing necessary agricultural information and enhanced utilization of ICT tools for agricultural information sources, and encouraging female farmers to participate in farming societies will lead to enhanced food production in this area. |

Title | Outlook of Present Organic Agriculture Policies and Future Needs in Sri Lanka |
Słowa kluczowe | conventional agriculture, organic agriculture, organic farming policies, Sri Lanka |
Key words | conventional agriculture, organic agriculture, organic farming policies, Sri Lanka |
Abstrakt | Many countries are formulating organic agriculture or organic farming policies aimed at sustainable agricultural development. Therefore, the objectives of this study were: to understand the present situation of organic agriculture policies in Sri Lanka and also in other countries where successful organic agriculture is operating; identify problems in the organic agriculture sector; and suggest potential policy measures to be implemented in Sri Lanka in future. The research was conducted in two stages. In the first stage, a thorough literature review was conducted to study the suitable policies available in other countries and also in Sri Lanka at present. In the second stage, two field surveys were carried out using pre-tested questionnaires, from December 2019 to May 2020, in order to gather farmers’ and extension officers’ information related to organic farming policy suggestions. According to the findings of the literature review, organic systems in some countries are more integrated with national strategic plans and visions. Those governments are more involved in new initiatives and farmers are encouraged to go organic through reliable and feasible policies. Although Sri Lanka has a high potential for organic agriculture, at present it is at an initial stage. While most organic products in Sri Lanka go to the export market, a small portion is kept at local markets. Demand for organic products in export as well as domestic markets is increasing. Even though there are seven international food certification agencies operating in the country as external inspection and certification bodies, a limited number of accredited certifications exist for products on the domestic market. Results of the farmers’ survey showed that even if farmers have a significant level of knowledge, few of them practice organic farming due to several existing problems. Moreover, extension officers have also identified similar types of problems that are faced by the farmers related to organic farming. Evaluation of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) related to organic agriculture in the country helped to identify key problems facing policy-makers when balancing the supply and demand sides of organic products. Also, in developing organic agriculture, an effective linkage and coordination among government and private participants is crucial. Therefore, in Sri Lanka in this context, strategic focus on policy support for organic agriculture is needed. Current organic farming programs need to be revised in order to formulate policies covering all areas related to production, handling, processing, certification, labeling and marketing, in order to bring the benefits of organic agriculture to farmers, marketers and consumers in a fair manner. |

Title | Szara strefa i jej wpływ na potencjał finansowy kraju |
Słowa kluczowe | shadow economy, financial potential, developing countries, advanced economies, corruption. |
Key words | szara strefa, potencjał finansowy, kraje rozwijające się, gospodarki rozwinięte, korupcja. |
Abstrakt | The aim of the article is to reveal the essence of the shadow economy and its impact on the financial potential of a country. We have discovered that the shadow economy is an objective phenomenon which is inherent in the economic systems of all countries, and that its level is determined by the level of development of the economic system, the difficulty of identifying all possible variants of the shading processes, and the moral and cultural characteristics of the country. It has been established that the shadow economy plays a major role in developing countries and that the level of the shadow economy in advanced economies is significantly lower. Thus, due to the results of the correlation-regression analysis, an inverse relationship between the level of GDP and the shadow economy was established. A system of measures aimed at preventing and combating corruption is proposed. |
Abstract | Celem opracowania jest określenie istoty szarej strefy i jej wpływu na potencjał finansowy kraju. |

Abstrakt | The research points out the principal concept of the HACCP system, ensuring product safety along the whole food chain 'from the field to the table'. It focuses on HACCP as the food safety management system that proved to be effective and has been accepted globally. In recent years the HACCP system has been gradually introduced in Ukrainian business entities. The article reveals the emergence of the HACCP system and the adaptation of the legal base of Ukraine in the area of food safety requirements. It provides evidence that the harmonization of Ukrainian and international standards in the field of food quality and safety calls for the necessity to introduce HACCP-conforming technologies at all stages of production in Ukrainian companies. The results of the audits of food product safety in Ukraine for the period 2016-2019 were evaluated. |

It is noted that Ukraine belongs to the countries with high bioeconomic potential, the source of which is the production of biomass of agricultural origin that creates favorable conditions for the development of the bioeconomy. The dynamics of biomass production potential are characterized by a stable increase in the amount of biomass available for use, and its energy capacity is analysed. Using the methodology of 'smart specialization', a model of strategy formation was developed, which defines the priorities, goals, and objectives of the bioeconomic development of Ukraine's economy. |

Title | |
Słowa kluczowe | investments, farms, economic size, type of farming, farm migrations |
Key words | |
Abstrakt | The research aimed to identify the impact of the implemented projects on the change in the economic size and direction of farms. The research used studies of the literature on the subject and data from 4 803 farms that kept continuous accounting under the FADN system in 2005-2013. The analysed economy was grouped according to the value of investment outlays in funds, economic size, and production type. Research shows that the increase in the level of investment is conducive to increasing the economic strength of farms. However, these investments must be high enough to ensure the appropriate level of difficulty. For the lower average level of questions, smaller languages are less and very small. Moreover, investments favour and accelerate the processing of farms, which may also improve their economic effects. In the analysed group of mixed-type farms, they changed the destination for the cultivation of cereals and the place of milk. |

Key words | efektywność, gospodarstwa rolne, FADN, grupa Wyszehradzka |
Abstrakt | The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the use of production factors on farms of the Visegrad Group countries. The research covered farms participating in the European system for collecting accounting data from FADN (Farm Accountancy Data Network) farms. Under the main objective, an assessment was made of the productivity and profitability of land, labour and capital. The research period covered the years 2014-2017. Based on the analyses that was conducted, it was found that the most effective use of land resources was on farms in Hungary and Poland, and the least effective in Slovakia. Considering labour and capital productivity, the highest results were achieved by farms in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while the lowest by Polish farms. On the other hand, Hungarian farms were characterized by the highest profitability of labour and return on assets, where the analysed indicators were higher than the EU average. |
Abstract | Celem opracowania było określenie efektywności wykorzystania czynników produkcji w gospodarstwach rolniczych państw Grupy Wyszehradzkiej. Badaniami objęte zostały gospodarstwa uczestniczące w europejskim systemie zbierania danych rachunkowych z gospodarstw rolnych FADN (Farm Accountancy Data Network). W ramach celu głównego dokonano oceny produktywności i dochodowości ziemi, pracy i kapitału. |

Title | Wpływ wdrożenia systemu WMS na produktywność pracy. Przypadek trzech magazynów dystrybucyjnych |
Słowa kluczowe | WMS, warehouse, labour productivity |
Key words | WMS, magazyn, produktywność pracy |
Abstrakt | Solutions of Industry 4.0 cover more and more areas of the economy. In logistics, digitization applies to each of the functional areas. Introducing IT solutions in logistics leads to an increase in the reliability of communication, faster stock rotation, and a higher level of service. It enables higher work efficiency and overall productivity. Changes in work productivity in three warehouses as a result of the implementation of a WMS class system and accompanying necessary changes in the equipment and organization of warehouse space was analysed in this work. The source of data for the analysis was the measurement of labour productivity for 12 months: three months before the implementation of the WMS and nine after its implementation. Work productivity after the implementation of the WMS increased by 40% compared to the level before it. The period of introducing WMS and obtaining an increase in personnel productivity was at least six months. Labour productivity in the analysed period increased in each month of the analysis. Only one of the three warehouses showed stabilization of workforce productivity at a level 50% higher than before the implementation. The research results confirm that the presence of WMS in the warehouse makes it possible to reach a significant increase in work productivity in warehouses. |
Abstract | Cyfryzacja obejmuje coraz więcej obszarów gospodarki i życia społecznego. W logistyce obejmuje każdy z obszarów funkcjonalnych. Podstawowe cele, jakie są realizowane poprzez wdrożenia systemów informatycznych to wzrost szybkości i niezawodności obsługi, obniżenie strat, wzrost wydajności pracy, obniżka kosztów. W pracy analizowano zmiany produktywności pracy w trzech magazynach w wyniku wdrożenia systemu klasy WMS i koniecznych zmian w zakresie wyposażenia oraz organizacji przestrzeni magazynu. |

Key words | |
Abstrakt | The purpose of this study is to identify the global trends in bioeconomic development and to develop the Concept of a State Strategy of Bioeconomic Development in Ukraine for the period until 2030. The authors define the bioeconomy as a set of industries that ensure the sustainable use of renewable resources, the use of biotechnologies for production while reducing the potential environmental damage, contributing to the innovative development of relevant sectors, and providing positive aspects of socio-economic development. The article formulates approaches to measuring the state and effectiveness of the bioeconomic development in Ukraine and the EU countries. Based on the analysis of world experience, it is concluded that to accelerate the development of the bioeconomy in Ukraine, it is necessary to develop the Strategy for the development of the bioeconomy in Ukraine. The conceptual foundations of such a Strategy have been developed by the authors of the article. The results of the study are the basis for the development and implementation of the State Strategy for the Development of Bioeconomy in Ukraine. The relevance of this study is determined by the absence of the Bioeconomic Development Strategy in Ukraine, which makes it difficult for the country to reach a new technological and innovative level of development. At the same time, the development and implementation of this Strategy will help Ukraine enter the international system of production of new knowledge and technologies. |
