Abstract | For national income accounting, policy decision-makers need information about state “country economy” of national economy. In this paper the economic fundamentals of African selected countries are explained in order to place these countries’ economies in perspective before continuing to examine the GDP settings of the countries in order to similarly place their agricultural sectors in perspective. Secondary economic data is sourced from different informal bodies as United Nations World Development Indicators, the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) websites, with the most consistent recently available data used. Some examples on GDP are given, GDP is a crucial measure of the size and health of an economy and the economic measurements are defined. The difference between GDP and GNP as well as GDP components are explained. Differences between microeconomics and macroeconomics are also illustrated. |

Abstract | Agriculture as one of major industries of the national economy is closely connected with the development of the whole country, especially rural regions and food production. Therefore it should be viewed as an important factor of rural development and economic stability of the whole country. The main aim of article is to compare the position of plant production and agriculture in two EU countries: Slovakia and Latvia. Realization of the mentioned objective required the research within the period of the years 2009-2010. We used basic organizational and economic relations and numeric calculations while analyzing and forming the theoretical and practical solutions. According to crop production between Slovakia and Latvia outlines some similarities, the situation was reversed and crops production for most commodities has fallen, particularly in case of cereals, but some separate crops have the various tend. For example in Slovakia case crop production rise of legumes and sugar beet, parallel in Latvia case crop production increase rapidly of buckwheat and rape. In consequence it draws differences in crop production priorities which depends from a large number of different circumstances between two described countries. |

Abstract | The aim of this paper is look through the agrarian trade between Slovakia and Poland. The Slovak and Polish agriculture is managed by the Common Agricultural Policy. It has main impact on both national agrarian policies. The situation in agriculture in both countries is different. It is because of the historical development of agriculture in Poland and in Slovakia. Slovakia achieved negative trade balance with agrarian trade with Poland in 2010. It means that the Slovak Export of agrarian commodities is smaller than Polish import into Slovakia. It is because the Poland is neighbor country of Slovakia. The second important reason is that the prices of agrarian commodities are lower than in Slovakia. The reason is also because the same features of consumers. |
