Abstract | The aim of the paper was to analyze the influence of the agricultural land structure on incomes and economic efficiency of sheep breeding farms in Poland. The results show that incomes and productivity were higher in bigger farms. The paper argues that for Polish conditions, with regard to economic performance of sheep breeding farms, the optimal share of pastures in agricultural land structure should reach the level of 30-40%. |

Abstrakt | |
Abstract | Poland’s accession to the EU has caused a necessity of harmonising Polish with the union law also in the field of energy law. It also enforces achievement of 7,5% share of energy from alternative sources in the total energy consumption in 2010. Execution of this international commitment will require more economic and legal support from the state. The development of alternative sources of energy creates chances of development of rural areas where these kinds of installations are being mostly located. This article presents an analysis of the economic efficiency of energy production on an example of 5 small hydroelectric power stations. The analysis is based on a comparison of full unit costs and unit revenue from energy sale. Bigger stations proved economically efficient while for the smaller the break even point is associated with an average water flow of 153 million m3/year |

Abstrakt | |
Abstract | The future of dairy branch belongs to major concerns producing milk, in which high parameters of milk yields are achieved and wider opportunities for modernization of production exist. Indisputable advantage of scale enjoyed by large production units over the small-sized ones is an objective law which has world recognition. Besides when reforming the branch it is necessary to create a range of large corporate enterprises which will be based on modern market relations and various forms of management. Various cooperation-integration structures are being created in the republic today. They unite several enterprises within the limits of one area, and the interregional and republican specialized complexes both. |

Title | Macroeconomic efficiency of a small provincial public library |
Słowa kluczowe | |
Key words | public library, macroeconomic efficiency, contingent valuation |
Abstrakt | |
Abstract | The macroeconomic efficiency of a public library in a small town near Warsaw has been calculated in the form of benefit/cost ratio. The benefits have been estimated by the method of contingent valuation of the library services and by the revealed preferences expressed by the costs of travel to and from the library as well as the costs of library deposit fees. The macroeconomic costs have been assumed equal to the microeconomic costs, except for labour costs which have been estimated as social opportunity costs of labour and therefore corrected downwards because of the persistent unemployment in town. The BCR ratio turned to be far below zero (depending on assumptions varied between 0.37 and 0.76). However only the direct benefits accruing to the library customers have been included. |

Abstract | A horse riding centre with 13 owned and 17 boarded horses made in 2005 a profit of 60,390 PLN. In winter costs were higher than revenues. In summer, the reverse was true. Abstrakt | |
Abstract | Economic and Monetary Union is unique in that it combines centralised conduct of monetary policy by the European Central Bank (ECB) with national sovereignty over fiscal and other economic policies. Its main goals are providing greater macroeconomic stability and improving economic efficiency in the euro area. After implementation of the EU enlargement on l May 2004, the ten new EU member states now face the challenge of joining the Eurozone. Central and East European Countries (CEEC) differ significantly with regards to their economic performance. Of the eight countries in Central and Eastern Europe joined the EU, only Estonia and Lithuania currently meet all the Maastricht convergence criteria. EU membership gives the opportunity to catch up, but the actual economic outcomes depend on the quality of domestic policies. |

Title | The Level of Material Outlays and Economic Results of Private Farms |
Słowa kluczowe | |
Key words | |
Abstrakt | |
Abstract | In the paper the analysis of the relationship between economic results and the level of the material outlays' concentration in private farms is presented. In general, farms with the highest level of the material outlays' concentration were characterized by the highest profitability of land, while in the group of the lowest level of those outlays the profitability was the lowest. In the case of the productivity of land relationships were similar to the case of its profitability. Social and economic efficiency of labour was higher in the group of farms with the highest level of material outlays, what shows that resources and labour outlays were used effectively. In general farms with an average level of material outlays were characterized by the highest profitability of sale, while farms with the highest outlays were characterized by the lowest profitability. It may show that the effectiveness of material outlays decrease with the growth by unit of the level of outlays. One of possible reasons for that tendency, in comparison with the highest profitability of land in the third group of farms, is using purchased materials for the broader scale, what makes farms independent on their resources of land. |
