Abstract
The article describes changes in food consumption of households affected by unemployment. It is based on the results of author’s own research conducted in the Mazowieckie voivodeship, during which two samples consisting of 1048 and 1173 respondents were surveyed between June–August 2006 and March–May 2011, respectively. To capture changes in food consumption among households with unemployed members, first the households’ incomes and expenditures and the structure of their consumption expenditures are analysed. The next issues the article focuses on are food expenditures and their changes as observed among the households in the years 2006–2011, and income elasticity of demand for selected food articles in the selected population. The article closes with a summary of the discussion and major conclusions.
