Title	The influence of foreign direct investments on the labour market in Poland in the years 2000–2007

Abstract	The develop of foreign direct investments (FDI) in Poland in 2000–2007 and their influence on creating the places of the work and enlargement productivity of labour are presented in this article. In the first part of the paper was presented analyze of dynamics level and structure FDI and their spacing location. Moreover, size and structure employment and productivity labour with part of foreign capital was presented. The main conclusion from this analyze is positive influence FDI on increase employment and level of efficiency and high regional diversification. The most number of work places was created in heavy economics (strong economically regions), mainly in voivodships: mazowieckie, wielkopolskie i dolnośląskie.

Then subjected them to statistical verification, which confirmed its accuracy. The model used to predict the recorded and expected inflation, and unemployment rate. Theoretical values were close to real values.

Title	The production factors substitution in the food industry sector in Poland

Abstract	The article presents the results of parameter estimation of production function in food industry in Poland. Author also calculated the marginal productivity of factors of production and used the marginal rate of substitution as a measure of substitution. It was stated that the output elasticity is higher with regard to labour input than to capital input. It means that exist way to obtain bigger growth in production in food industry by increasing labour input. Moreover, in some branches of food industry the value of marginal rate of substitution indicates that decrease of labour input by one unit requires significant increase of capital input in order to maintain the previous level of production.

The role of agricultural policy is still increasing and thus, expenditure on agriculture and rural areas is raising. The aim of the paper is to define the size and structure of financial support for agricultural in Poland in compared to other countries and especially European Union members, based on the indicators used by OECD. Changes in the level and structure of support for producers and consumers of agricultural products in Poland and other countries were analyzed paying attention to the effectiveness of different support instrument.

Abstract	In the last few years, a dynamic development of the service sector has been observed in Poland. An increase in the importance of services is a result of a civilisation development, and it is getting more and more meaningful due to an increasing number of employees and the value of provided services. The main aim of this study was to analyze the preferences of consumers from big cities (on the example of Warsaw) on choosing the place and the frequency of dining in restaurants. I have tried to find the relations between the chosen demographic indicators (age, sex, place of stay) and dining habits. It was noticed that dining in restaurants, for almost all taking part in the survey, is rather occasional than common. However, for some of the respondents, it is an everyday (or almost everyday) way of dining. It was also noticed that dining out is common for young people at the ages between 25 and 29.

Abstract	The research aimed at making an inventory of recent and ongoing fruit market and fruit product innovations and at assessing what new or improved features they offer, and whether consumers are able to identify and/or recognise them. The list of innovations obtained has been coded, categorised, sorted, and reduced in subsequent stages. First, the examples received were categorised according to the Oslo Manual definitions. Second, product and marketing innovations were selected, as they are the only ones that were likely to be recognised by consumers. Next, the analysis revealed that the novelties these innovations offered related to Convenience, Health, Differentiation, Target Group, Information, Sensory Characteristics, In Home and/or Out of Home and Quality. Some innovations offered only one novel aspect, whereas others offered multiple aspects. Interrelationships between novel aspects are discussed for those innovations that offered a combination of aspects.

The theoretical part reviews the most important definitions of efficiency, its indicators and assessment methods. The key problem of small and medium enterprises, especially those with high level of innovation is lack of appropriate capital to finalize the conceptual works and to start business operations. Although there are available different sources of capital., i.e. business incubators, technological parks, special aid programs, those are not sufficient. In developed countries are well functioning formal and unofficial markets of venture capital that support business pioneer initiatives. In Poland this markets are in infancy. One of the forms of supporting innovative initiatives and solving problems of insufficient capital are Seed Founds. In Poland already operate 6 seed founds and next two are in implementation phase

Abstract	General subvention granted in Poland constitutes one of basic sources of incomes for local districts authorities – communities. In some cases it becomes the major income allotted for completion of local tasks. The general subvention in Poland consists of three elements, which are: compensation subvention, education subvention and balance subvention. These are regulated by the different regulations, i.e. Local District Authorities Income Act from 13th November 2003 and ordinances of the Minister of Finance. The major aim of the subvention is to supplement local own incomes, particularly when these incomes are not sufficient to carry out local authorities’ projects. However there appear some nuances which cast doubt on subvention’s effectiveness.

Abstract	The paper aims to analyze the possibility of applying franchising to finance activities of companies in Poland. It argues that one of the alternatives to commonly used external capital sources, which are often expensive and hard to gain, is franchising. It is a form of cooperation between legally and organizationally independent companies, from which one is the franchisor and the other one is the franchisee. The main issue of a franchise agreement is gaining, in exchange of agreed amount of money, entitlement of the franchisee to use the name, the brand and the knowledge of running a business of the franchisor. Franchising is recognized as an attractive source of financing for the both sides of the agreement. For the franchisor it means no assets in market expansion, for the franchisee it is the way to limit the costs of running a business

Abstract	The paper aims to evaluate the funds spent on environmental protection by various companies according to the compulsory commitments imposed by the European Union. The conducted analysis proved that Polish companies had taken over the dominant role from the State in financing expenditures on the environmental protection. Nevertheless, the state environmental policies scheduled for 2003–2006, and prolonged later for 2007–2010 have not been completed entirely yet. This is the reason why EU funds should be enlarged and in consequence contribute more to the growth of expenditures spent on environmental investments in private companies too

There will be compared international and Polish standards. The analysis focuses on the subjective scope of those solutions. The paper is an attempt to answer the question: For which entities those solutions are designed? In the opinion of the author, the national and international solutions present different approaches to the issues discussed in the paper. This divergence is a consequence, first of all, of the different notion of SMEs. In other words, the Exposure Draft of the proposed International Financial Reporting Standard for Small and Medium-sized Entities, in the opinion of the author, is incompatible with the specificity of SMEs in Poland
