| Abstrakt | The aim of this research is to present the family farm income and production and its economic determinants according to the economic size of farms in the EU countries in 2004–2015. Research is based on European Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN), which includes information about average farms according to the economic size in the EU-28. In this article an attempt is made to use the panel models to evaluate the production and economic determinants of family farm income. The Gretl program is used to evaluate fixed effect models and random effect models. The production and economic determinants of family farm income depending on the farm’s size are indicated, such as: utilised agricultural area, crop and livestock production, net investment and cash flow and inputs. |

| Abstrakt | W opracowaniu skoncentrowano się na analizie produktywności pracy w rolnictwie polskim w latach 2005 i 2016 w porównaniu do wybranych krajów UE-15 (grupa 1.) i niektórych krajów, które przystąpiły do UE po 2004 roku (grupa 2.). W grupie 1. uwzględniono Austrię, Belgię, Danię, Holandię i Niemcy, natomiast w grupie 2. Czechy, Słowację, Litwę, Łotwę i Węgry. Przy wyborze krajów do badań kierowano się kryterium położenia w tej samej strefie klimatycznej. W analizie szczególnie uwzględniono rolę gospodarstw dużych, których wielkość przyjęto umownie na poziomie 30 ha UR. Celem badań było określenie wpływu gospodarstw dużych na poziom produktywności pracy w gospodarstwach ogółem oraz określenie możliwości zmniejszenia różnic między produktywnością pracy w polskich dużych gospodarstwach w stosunku do analogicznych gospodarstw w krajach UE-15. Stwierdzono w obydwu grupach krajów spadek liczby gospodarstw i zwiększenie produktywności pracy w rolnictwie ogółem i w badanych klasach gospodarstwach dużych. W krajach grupy 2. tempo wzrostu produktywności pracy było wyższe niż w grupie 1. jednak w niewielkim stopniu zmniejszyły się występujące różnice. Produktywność pracy w rolnictwie krajów grupy 1. była istotnie wyższa niż w grupie 2. Wzrost liczby i udziału gospodarstw dużych w strukturze gospodarstw był dodatnio skorelowany z produktywnością pracy w rolnictwie. |
| Abstract | The study focuses on the analysis of labor productivity in Polish agriculture in 2005 and 2016 in comparison to selected EU-15 countries (group 1) and some countries that joined the EU after 2004. In group 1, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany are included, while in group 2 - the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia and Hungary. The analysis particularly considers the role of large farms, the size of which was contractually agreed at 30 ha of UAA. The aim of the study was to determine the impact of large farms on the level of labor productivity in total farms and to determine the possibility of reducing the differences between labor productivity in Polish large farms in relation to analogous farms in EU-15 countries, and determining whether changes occurring in Poland differ from those occurring in large farms in other post-socialist countries. In both groups of countries there was a decrease in the number of farms and an increase in labor productivity in agriculture in general and in surveyed classes in large farms. In the countries of group 2. the rate of labor productivity growth was higher than in group 1. However, it slightly reduced the differences. Labor productivity in agriculture in the countries of Group 1 was significantly higher than in Group 2. The increase in the number and share of large farms in the structure of farms was positively correlated with labor productivity in agriculture. |

| Abstrakt | Celem badań było przedstawienie problemów zagadnienia nierówności i ubóstwa ekonomicznego na obszarach wiejskich w Polsce w latach 2010-2016. Przyjęto hipotezę badawczą zakładającą, iż wysoki poziom nierówności dochodowych prowadzi do wysokiego poziomu ubóstwa relatywnego. Wyniki badań pokazały, iż pomiędzy nierównościami dochodowymi mierzonymi współczynnikiem Giniego a ubóstwem relatywnym na obszarach wiejskich istnieje silna dodatnia zależność. Nie zaobserwowano natomiast żadnego związku pomiędzy zmiennymi dla grupy zawodowej rolników. Można zatem przyjąć, że wzrost nierówności dochodowych na obszarach wiejskich powoduje wzrost ubóstwa relatywnego, ale zależność ta nie dotyczyła ludności, której głównym źródłem utrzymania było gospodarstwo rolne. |
| Abstract | The aim of the paper was to present the level of disparities and economic poverty in rural areas of Poland in the period 2010-2016. The adopted research assumption was that a high level of income inequality led to a high level of relative poverty. The research was based on the analysis and synthesis of literature and secondary statistical data from the Central Statistical Office. In the theoretical part, the author presented an overview of inequality and poverty definitions. The research part used descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The obtained results demonstrate that there is a strong positive correlation between income inequality measured using the Gini index and relative poverty in rural areas. No correlation between variables for the professional group of farmers was observed. It can be thus assumed that an increase in income inequality in rural areas leads to an increase in relative poverty, however this correlation does not apply to households, where the main source of income is agriculture. |

| Abstrakt | Turkey’s bio-diversity, geographical structure and climatic conditions, makes it possible to produce a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Although, the high production capacity, half of the vegetables and fruits are lost during the supply chain processes from farmer to the end consumer because of the long and complex structure of the supply chain. At the same time the current supply chain structure leads to huge gaps between producer and consumer prices. The aim of this study is to determine the structure of the fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain in Turkey and develop alternative supply chain forms to prevent the “price differences” and “product losses” from farmer to the final consumer. The study included descriptive analyses with secondary data as well as literature review. In addition, this study emphasizes the asymmetric power relationship in the agricultural supply chain. The asymmetric power relationship is explained by the price differences between the farmer and the final consumer. The research findings suggest that the transition from the existing multi-intermediated supply chain to the non-intermediated model must be done in a gradual way and through strengthening of the farmers. |

| Abstrakt | Within the framework of the paper, the author introduces issues connected to short food supply chains. There are many different forms of short food supply chains (SFSC), but they share a common characteristic of reduced numbers of intermediaries between the farmer or food producer, and the consumer. The growing interest in SFSCs is shown in the paper – this reflects mainly the consumer demand for quality and traceability, given the alarming health crises in food markets. From a customers’ point of view, SFSCs transfer more complete information about the origin of the food and, for producers, SFSCs retain a higher share of added value. The overview on the impact of short supply chains is provided in the paper. The results of the analysis show that the supply chain may have some beneficial economic effects. It is noticed that the SFSCs have potential to increase farm value added (profit allocation), promote sustainable farming systems, diversify production and contribute to local economic development. |

| Abstrakt | Issues of tourists’ safety are gaining grounds in Ghana especially in the Ahanta West District in the Western Region where Ghana discovered commercial crude oil in Cape Three Points in 2007 and started drilling in 2010. Using purposive sampling method, observation, interviews and questionnaires, this study sought to examine the extent to which tourists perceive their own safety in this destination which is old but now renewed tourist destination due to the oil find in Ghana. Welcoming and friendly atmosphere to tourists was indicative of a safe and a secured destination for tourists. The display of globalization showed in the form of ‘glocalization’ in this destination. There is a conflict between land use for agricultural purposes and tourist facilities since the predominant cash crop in this area is oil palm, hence a threat to agricultural sustainability. It is recommended that the security agents should as a matter of urgency put in place the appropriate structures in this tourist destination and farming area for safety. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of the research was a multidimensional assessment of the quality of life in farmers’ households along with its synthetic measure and a typology of household classes, rendered by the measure. The 2015 data on 730 farmers’ households were used to analyse their quality of life in nine dimensions: material living conditions, employment, health, education, leisure and social relations, economic and physical security, civic participation, environmental quality, and the subjective assessment of well-being. Due to concomitance of features measured on metric and non-metric scales, generalized distance measure (GDM) was applied as part of the TOPSIS method to determine the distance of objects from the model values. The study drew on microdata from the Social Diagnosis survey conducted in 2015 by the Council for Social Monitoring, and employed clusterSim R-package for calculations. |

| Abstrakt | The purpose of the paper was to present the importance of welfare farms in Poland as a social element of mutual relations, connections and co-operation in local and regional development. The concept of welfare farms is characterised in the study and the main idea of their formation is presented. Examples of welfare farms in Poland as part of the first pilot project known as ‘Zielona opieka – gospodarstwa opiekuńcze w woj. kujawsko-pomorskim’ (Green care: welfare farms in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship) have also been presented. It was also pointed out that social farming plays an increasingly important role in the contemporary development of rural areas. The paper was compiled using the desk research method and a classical analysis of documents was used. The choice of methods was determined by the availability of source materials, some of which were of primary or secondary nature (social farming literature, reports and public statistic documents). This paper also pointed to the fact that welfare farms are increasingly becoming a popular form of social service in rural areas. It also testifies to the entrepreneurship of farmers, because they offer not only accommodation and catering, but also care on their farms. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of the research was to determine the production costs in farms specializing in viticulture in the selected European Union countries in the period 2004–2015. It was found that there was a large variation in terms of the structure of production costs. In the analysed period, the majority of countries recorded an increase in total costs per 1 ha, which was mostly due to the year by year increase of the direct costs. In direct costs the plant protection had the largest share, followed by fertilization costs, while the lowest were the costs of pruning. The share of indirect costs in total costs was relatively high and on EU average reached 82%. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of the paper is to present a decomposition of unemployment in the rural population into the structural and cyclical components in groups distinguished based on their main source of household income. This study was conducted using the method estimating the level of natural unemployment (equilibrium unemployment) proposed by the Centre for Economic Policy Research (1995). The analysis was based on individual, unweighted, quarterly raw data provided by the Polish LFS (BAEL) from the years 2002–2009 and 2016. The professional situation of the rural population in the analysed period improved, which was manifested in an increase in the employment rate and a reduction of the actual unemployment rate. Between the periods of 2002–2005 and 2006–2009 actual unemployment ‘followed’ the lower values of equilibrium unemployment. In 2016 the actual unemployment rate was lower than in previous periods; however, an adverse change was observed for its relation to the natural unemployment rate. If we assume that it will – as previously – strive to attain the equilibrium level, in the case of a downturn on the market for goods and services the actual unemployment among the rural population may considerably increase, particularly in the group of individuals whose main source of income is provided by unemployment benefits and the family farm. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of this paper is to determine the farm typology in Elbasan region and orient policy maker’s agriculture support scheme. Albania is divided into 12 regions and 61 municipality. Region of Elbasan is one of the intermediate ones4 and consists of 4 districts (district of Elbasan, Gramsh, Librazhd and Peqin). Elbasan ranked third by the availability of agricultural land in the country after Fier and Korca (72,872 ha or 10.4% of the agricultural land area at country level). Despite the size of the agricultural land area, it should be considered that a good part of it lies in hilly and mountainous part especially in Librazhd and Gramsh districts. Besides construction and development services, there is observed a growing trend of agricultural activity especially in terms of olive and vegetables cultivation in open field and greenhouses. In this region operate about 32,439 farms. The average farm family size is 4.9 persons, while the national average farm size is 4.5 persons (MAFCP, 2012). The farm typology was determined using nine indicators. Based on these indicators are identified the following type of cluster/typology for Elbasani district: poly-culture for market; livestock; leisure farms; fruit trees; arable crop farm; self-sufficiency. The farm performance was determined using factors productivity which reveals that farms that belong to the poly-culture for market, livestock and self-sufficient clusters are performing better than other clusters. |

| Abstrakt | Within the framework of implementation of overarching national tasks, special attention is paid to the food production and the matter of keeping up with the consumer demand for quality food, which is of national significance. The poultry industry is able to make its fairly considerable contribution into solving the problems of the consumer demand for valuable healthy food products; and to create conditions for the national food security owing to this industry economic growth based on its production potential development and strengthening. The domestic and foreign practice clearly demonstrates that it is possible to provide the population with quality food within a relatively short term, primarily due to the increase of egg and poultry meat production. The poultry industry is not only the most dynamic and fast-growing branch of the livestock farming, but also it has the most intensive production methods. The aim of this article is to determine the influence and the role of the poultry industry on providing the population with food supplies in present-day conditions in the world. |

| Abstrakt | The purpose of this paper is to assess the use of agricultural services in European Union countries in the context of selected features of agriculture. The Ward’s Method was used to isolate six typological clusters of European Union countries. It may be noticed that clusters with a high levels of fixed capital consumption and total intermediate consumption are characterized by a higher use of services than other clusters. The absence of a noticeable relation between the share of crop output in the structure of agricultural output, or between the labour input and the use of agricultural services can be explained by differences in natural conditions, traditional farming models and preferences in choosing between developing the farm’s own machinery or using services. |

The influence of integration processes on the formation of business-models of agro-industrial enterprises is analyzed. The world experience of agricultural cooperation is examined. For the results of the study is found that the effective form of integration that ensures competitiveness peasants and farmers, promotes their business efficiency by servicing its members in the field of processing, delivery, sales, marketing, consulting and even the production of major agricultural products, on the one hand and on the other hand provides a rural population with goods and services of daily use is agricultural service cooperatives. |

| Abstrakt | Celem opracowania było określenie pozycji polskiego rolnictwa ekologicznego natle rolnictwa ekologicznego w Unii Europejskiej (UE), regionalnego rozmieszczenia producentówekologicznych w Polsce, a także rozpoznanie zakresu wsparcia finansowego w ramach ProgramuRozwoju Obszarów Wiejskich w latach 2014–2020. W artykule wykorzystano dane wtórne i zastosowanometodę analizy porównawczej. Pod względem liczby gospodarstw ekologicznych Polskaw 2015 r. zajęła szóstą pozycję w UE. Z analizy wynika, że najwięcej wniosków o dofinansowanieprodukcji ekologicznej w ramach działania „Rolnictwo ekologiczne” zostało zrealizowanychw województwach z największą liczbą gospodarstw ekologicznych w Polsce, a więc zachodniopomorskim,warmińsko-mazurskim i podlaskim. |
| Abstract | The aim of the study was determination of the position of Polish organic farming comparingto organic farming in European Union, defining the regional locations of organic farming producersin Poland and identification of the financial support under the Rural Development Programme for2014–2020. In the article the secondary data and the method of comparative analysis were used.Concerning the number of ecological farms, Poland had the sixth position in the European Union in2015. The analysis shows that the largest number of applications for co-financing of organic productionwithin framework for action „Organic farming” were implemented in the voivodeships with thelargest number of organic farms in Poland: Zachodniopomorskie voivodeship, Warmińsko-mazurskievoivodeship and Podlaskie voivodeship. |

| Abstrakt | Celem opracowania było rozpoznanie i ocena determinantów wpływających narozwój agroturystyki w powiecie gorlickim. Materiał badawczy obejmował wyniki wywiadówprzeprowadzonych z kwaterodawcami oraz zebranych opinii od agroturystów. Oceniono najważniejszedeterminanty mające wpływ na rozwój agroturystyki na badanym obszarze. Dokonanaanaliza potwierdziła, że najważniejszym czynnikiem rozwoju agroturystyki w powieciegorlickim są uwarunkowania przyrodnicze regionu. Dowiodła również, że szansą na lepszefunkcjonowanie gospodarstw agroturystycznych byłaby wzajemna współpraca kwaterodawcóww ramach różnych organizacji. |
| Abstract | The aim was to identify and evaluate the determinants influencing the development of agritourismin the Gorlice county. The research material consisted of interviews with owners of agritourismfarms and opinions collected from agritourists. The most important determinants affecting thedevelopment of agritourism in the studied area were assessed. The analysis confirmed that the mostimportant factor in the development of agritourism in the Gorlice county are the natural conditionsof the region. It also proved that the chance for better functioning of agritourism farms would be themutual co-operation of quarters within various organizations. |

| Abstrakt | Celem opracowania było przedstawienie opinii respondentów (gości) na tematoferty gospodarstw agroturystycznych zlokalizowanych w powiecie gnieźnieńskim i należącychdo Wielkopolskiego Towarzystwa Agroturystyki i Turystyki Wiejskiej. W opracowaniuokreślono także powody wyboru wsi na miejsce wypoczynku oraz zaprezentowano preferowaneprzez gości sposoby spędzania czasu. Badania empiryczne zostały przeprowadzonewśród gości (turystów), którzy wypoczywali w tych gospodarstwach. Metodą badań był sondażdiagnostyczny z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza ankiety. Badane gospodarstwa oferowałyturystom atrakcyjne produkty agroturystyczne. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, iżrespondenci wypoczywający w gospodarstwach agroturystycznych wskazali, że powodemtego wyboru jest możliwość aktywnego wypoczynku, bliskość natury, świeże powietrze orazspożywanie posiłków przygotowanych przez właścicieli. Ważnym aspektem dla turystówbyła także dobra infrastruktura okołoturystyczna, która sprzyja uprawianiu różnych aktywności.Badani podkreślili także, iż niski koszt wypoczynku powoduje, że preferują wyjazdyweekendowe kilka razy w ciągu roku. |
| Abstract | The aim of the article was to presentation of respondents (guests) opinions on the offer ofagritourism farms located in the Gniezno poviat belonging to the Wielkopolska Agritourism and RuralTourism Association and are located in Gniezno County. An empirical study was conducted on visitors(agritourists) staying on these farms. The research was conducted by means of a diagnostic survey usinga questionnaire. The farms offered their guests a wide range of agritourist products and services.The research showed that the respondents staying on agritourist farms had chosen to spend theirholiday there due to active leisure, contact with nature, fresh air and the consumption of home-mademeals prepared by farm owners. The respondents found good tourist infrastructure, which enableddifferent activities, to be an important aspect of their leisure. Due to the low cost of the agritouristoffer the respondents preferred to make weekend trips a few times a year. |

| Abstrakt | Zwiększająca się w wyniku przemian cywilizacyjnych ilość czasu wolnego stawiaprzed współczesnym człowiekiem zadanie jego odpowiedniego wykorzystania. Czas tenspełnia jednocześnie wiele funkcji i formy jego spędzania są zróżnicowane. Podróże i czasowypobyt poza miejscem stałego zamieszkania mogą być dla wielu osób wartościową formą jegowykorzystania i zaspokajania różnorodnych potrzeb – w tym również tych związanych z edukacją.Turystyka edukacyjna oferowana przez właścicieli zagród edukacyjnych to ważne ogniwosystemu dydaktyczno-wychowawczego i element kształcenia ustawicznego. Z tego też względucelem publikacji była próba weryfikacji ofert zagród edukacyjnych w aspekcie roli, jaką mogąspełniać w procesie kształcenia osób dorosłych. Podstawę opracowania stanowiła analiza treścizawartych w materiałach źródłowych dostępnych na stronie www.zagroda-edukacyjna.pl.Stwierdzono, że oferta gospodarstw realizuje postulat kształcenia ustawicznego osób dorosłych,które chcą poszerzyć, zaktualizować lub uzupełnić swoją wiedzę oraz umiejętności. |
| Abstract | The growing of free time in result of alternatively civilization amount places before contemporaryhuman task his suitable the utilization. This time satisfy many functions simultaneously anddiverse spending of his forms. The trips and temporary accommodation outside place of permanentresidence to be perhaps valuable form of his utilization for many persons – including these connectedwith education. | Abstrakt | Celem pracy było rozpoznanie formy graficznej (projektowej), jaką najczęściejprzyjmują witryny internetowe gospodarstw agroturystycznych. W pracy postawiono pytaniebadawcze, czy najnowsze trendy projektowe znajdują zastosowanie w projektach takich witryn.Badaniom inspekcyjnym poddano 282 witryny obiektów, które zadeklarowały, że prowadządziałalność agroturystyczną. W trakcie badań inspekcyjnych weryfikowano występowaniekoncepcji projektowych, m.in.: responsive web design, one-page, long-page, flat design, materialdesign, a także hero image.W zbiorze badanych witryn nie odnotowano ani jednej utworzonej w koncepcji flat design lubmaterial design. Najpopularniejszym rozwiązaniem projektowym była tzw. karuzela obrazów.Tylko jedną witrynę oceniono jako zgodną z trendem one-page design. Nieco większą popularnościącieszyły się koncepcje responsywności oraz hero image. Witryny z badanego zbioru byływ większości wykonane w klasyczny, zachowawczy sposób, według standardów projektowychz lat 2008–2012. |
| Abstract | The aim of the paper was to recognize the graphic (design) form taken most frequently bythe websites of agrotouristic farms and whether the newest design trends are applied in designs ofsuch websites. 282 websites were subject to the inspective surveys, which declared that they are conductingagritourism activities. Occuring design concepts such as: responsive web design, one-page,long-page, flat design, material design and hero image were verified during the tests.Not one flat design or material design created in the concept were noted in the set of the surveyedwebsites. The most popular design solution was so called a carousel of images. Only one website wasestimated as compatible with the trend called one-page design. Concepts of responsiveness as wellas hero image were slightly more popular. The websites from the tested set were mostly performed ina classic, conservative way according to the design standards from the years 2008–2012. |

| Abstrakt | W artykule przedstawiono konkurencyjność i efektywność polskich gospodarstw ogrodniczych na tle analogicznych gospodarstw wybranych krajów Unii Europejskiej. Analizą objęto gospodarstwa objęte systemem monitoringu FADN w latach 2007-2009 i 2011-2013, specjalizujące się w uprawie warzyw, truskawek, kwiatów i roślin ozdobnych, grzybów i w szkółkarstwie. Konkurencyjność badanych gospodarstw ogrodniczych określono wskaźnikiem konkurencyjności, obliczonym jako stosunek dochodu z gospodarstwa rolnego do kosztów użycia własnych czynników produkcji: ziemi, pracy i kapitału (za W. Kleinhanssem). |
| Abstract | The article presents the competitiveness and efficiency of Polish vegetable farms against the similar farms from selected European Union countries. The analysis covered farms specializing in growing vegetables, strawberries, flowers and ornamental plants, mushrooms and nurseries covered by the FADN monitoring system in the years 2007-2009 and 2011-2013. The competitiveness of the researched vegetable farms was determined by the competitiveness index calculated as the ratio of farm income to the cost of using own factors of production: land, labor and capital (according to W. Kleinhanss). Competitive abilities were demonstrated by Polish vegetable farms with economic size of EUR 50-100 and 100-500 thousand of SO and area, respectively of 8.6 and 10.2 ha of UAA. These abilities were also demonstrated by Hungarian and Romanian farms of EUR 25-50 thousand of SO, French and German farms of EUR 100-500 thousand of SO as well as Italian and Spanish farms of EUR > 500 thousand of SO. Fully competitive were German farms of EUR > 500 thousand of SO and the Hungarian farms of EUR: 25-50, 50-100 and 100-500 thousand SO. |
