| Abstrakt | International enterprises (in this paper, international companies are understood as companies that sell their products and services abroad) are precious for the national economy because, through their experience in international sales, they stimulate the development of other companies in the same industry and their subcontractors. The knowledge that these companies have gained on international markets through the spillover effect spreads on their suppliers, as well as through imitation or cooperation on their competitors. Also, international companies (in the meaning: domestic export companies) are often the first to use new technological solutions and product innovations, which contributes to the modernization of products in the entire business sector. Dynamic and robust international companies usually also build networks with entities from different countries in order to cooperate on development, negotiation, and sales, which also encourages similar activities of their competitors. For all these reasons, national governments should take action to help to export companies, or at least monitor the problems that such entities report. The purpose of the publication is to draw attention to the higher demand for the debt that exists in such enterprises and to discuss the reasons for this. In particular, the purpose of the publication was to verify 2 research hypotheses: H1: Internationalization increases indebtedness of a company measured with the debt to equity ratio, and H2: The scale of internationalization (measured with the share of foreign sales to total sales) is positively related to the level of indebtedness (measured with the debt to equity ratio). For both hypotheses we found no grounds to reject these hypotheses. In the opinion of the authors, the demand for debt from exporters should be monitored, especially in terms of the availability of this form of financing for exporters from the SME sector. The paper used the Arellano-Bond model and data downloaded from the Orbis database for years 2007 – 2017. |

| Abstrakt | Biomass is a major source of renewable energy in the EU and Poland, stimulating the growth of the wood pellet sector. Wood pellet demand is stimulated by a complex interaction of market forces and policies including EU climate, energy, and environmental regulations, Poland’s program to improve air quality, and subsidies for the replacement of inefficient stoves used by households. This article focuses on the growth of the wood pellet industry, imports and exports in Poland, and wood pellet quality and use by households. The main issues faced by the EU wood pellet sector between 2013 and 2016 are further considered in the context of opinions of Polish wood pellet manufacturers. Industry opinions were collected in response to an open-ended question that probed for the main issues faced by wood pellet producers during the survey implemented by the authors in 2019. Respondents identified difficulties in obtaining raw material for pellet production and poor pellet quality as major problems. Although the majority did not feel concerned about competition from imported wood pellets, a small number of respondents viewed such competition as a problem reflecting the reversal of decreasing imports in 2017. Overall, the domestic wood pellet industry can be expected to grow because of increasing pressure to expand the use of renewable energy and will be driven by the household sector switching to more efficient, wood burning stoves. Additionally, the expanding area of private Polish forests may become a source of much-needed raw material for wood pellet manufacturing. |

| Abstrakt | Polityka społeczna ma na celu w głównej mierze minimalizowanie problemów społecznych, a zwłaszcza dysproporcji dochodowych zarówno między grupami zawodowymi, jak i w ujęciu regionalnym. Jednym z przyjętych zadań analizowanej polityki jest wsparcie finansowe udzielane gospodarstwom domowym między innymi przez zagwarantowanie im poczucia bezpieczeństwa, zwłaszcza w zakresie dochodów. Przedmiotem badań było oszacowanie skuteczności polityki społecznej realizowanej w Polsce na przykładzie gminy wiejskiej. W opracowaniu podjęto próbę wskazania wymiernych efektów wprowadzonego w Polsce instrumentu polityki społecznej, jakim jest program „Rodzina 500+”. Wspiera on finansowo rodziny, polepszając ich sytuację materialną. Ponadto w założeniu jego twórców ma na celu poprawę współczynnika przyrostu naturalnego w Polsce. Zauważalne są również niedoskonałości analizowanego instrumentu polityki społecznej, który negatywnie wpływa na sytuację zawodową ludności, w szczególności kobiet. Jednak w większości program „Rodzina 500+” jest oceniany pozytywnie przez jego beneficjentów. Na podstawie odpowiedzi ankietowanych nie można stwierdzić, że jego wprowadzenie przyczyni się do przyrostu urodzeń, a według respondentów koszty z tym związane mogą przyczyniać się do ograniczania współfinansowania obszarów życia równie pożądanych przez społeczeństwo (edukacja, ochrona zdrowia, infrastruktura publiczna). |
| Abstract | Social policy primarily aims to minimise social problems, in particular the issues concerning income disparities amongst professional groups as well as regionally. One of the adopted objectives of the analysed policy is the financial support for households, including guaranteeing a sense of security, especially in terms of income. The subject of the study was to assess the effectiveness of social policy implemented in Poland on the example of a rural municipality. The study attempts to indicate the measurable effects of a social policy instrument implemented in Poland, specifically the “Family 500+” programme. The programme supports families by improving their financial situation. In addition, according to its creators, the objective of the programme is to increase the birth rate in Poland. The imperfections of the analysed social policy instrument are also noticeable. It negatively affects the employment situation in the country, particularly for women. However, in most cases, the “Family 500+” programme is positively rated by the beneficiaries. Based on the results of the conducted study, it cannot be concluded that the “Family 500+” programme contributes to the increase in the birth rate, while the costs of its implementation may contribute to limiting the cofinancing of other areas of life, ones that are desired by the society to the same degree (education, health care, public infrastructure). |

| Abstrakt | The demographic potential, especially in the peripheral and remote areas, Has been deteriorating. Negative natural increase, low or negative migration balances, unfavourable values of the feminisation index and growing relation of the number of people at post-working age to the number of people at working age have been threatening rural development. The aim of the research was to show spatial concentrations of municipalities (LAU 2 level) with a similar level of demographic potential. The study was carried out for 2169 municipalities (LAU 2 level), including rural and semi-urban (urban-rural, including small towns) ones. It was based on the data from the Statistics Poland. The municipalities were are ranked by the level of demographic potential (by 4 variables) and put into 5 groups by the potential level using the taxonomic development measure of Hellwig. The results were presented in maps using cartogram method. The most favourable and promising situation according to demographic potential is observed in central and southern Poland, especially in semi-urban and suburban areas of large cities. The worst demographic potential level and at the same time the least favourable demographic forecasts concern mostly the Eastern Poland, already known as problem area. The spiral of negative conditions accelerates, causing more disadvantages, making young people looking for new places to work and live, deepening current demographic problems and leading to socio-economic development pathologies. |

| Abstrakt | The article is dedicated to studying contemporary situation and problems of torusim brand development in Kazakhstan. The results of the conducted survey have show that consumers are interested in such tourist-and-recreational resources as natural reserves and national parks and monuments, the Yassavi mausoleum, the branded direction – Borovoye and the mountains, as well as the symbol of the country could become the Golden man or the snow leopard. The research is based on authors own empirical research on the issues regarding tourists awareness and preferencess, as well as experts’ survey. The empirical research was provided based on literature review, primary data (in form of tourists surveys), secondary data collection, analysis and synthesis. To survey tourists a structured questionnaire was designed; 96 people were surveyed, including 55 women and 41 men as a random sampling. The experts’ survey was conducted in free form, and eight experts were surveyed. As was evidenced by the study results, international tourists are particularly interested in authentic cuisine as well as activities. Moreover, the research revealed that a gap between the way Kazakhstan officially defines its identity and the actual brand image the country has for now as a tourist destination. |

| Abstrakt | Celem artykułu jest analiza determinant i konsekwencji spadku cen ropy naftowej w okresie 2014/2015. Epizody te są słabiej opisane w literaturze przedmiotu, w porównaniu do okresów wzrostu, zarówno na gruncie badań teoretycznych, jak i empirycznych. Wynika to z mniejszej częstotliwości występowania okresów spadku cen, jak i oczekiwanych w mniejszym stopniu negatywnych konsekwencji. Doświadczenia lat 2014/2015 wykazują, że także okres spadku cen surowca ma negatywne konsekwencje, przede wszystkim dla eksporterów, ale także dla importerów oraz gospodarki globalnej. W artykule wykorzystano zasadniczo dwa obszerne raporty międzynarodowych instytucji: Banku Światowego i Międzynarodowego Funduszu Walutowego oraz dokonano przeglądu literatury światowej. Zwrócono uwagę na dylematy krajów eksporterów z wyborem odpowiedniej polityki dostosowawczej, w tym rolę polityki fiskalnej i kursowej, oraz reformy strukturalne w zarządzaniu powstałą nierównowagą zewnętrzną i fiskalną tej grupy krajów. |
| Abstract | The aim of the article is to investigate the main determinants and implications of the fall of oil prices during the period of 2014/2015. The episodes of oil prices’ plunge are not presented in the literature, both theoretical and empirical one, as much as the episodes of price increases. The episodes of plunge are not as common in the economy as episodes of increases, and the negative consequences of the former are supposed not to be as severe as these of the latter. On the basis of the experiences of the last oil price plunge one can see the negative consequences can tackle both exporters and importers. The article is based mainly on two broad reports, of IMF and World Bank, and a set of publications. It discusses the problems of adjustment policy, especially fiscal and exchange rate policies, and structural reforms taken by exporting countries in the process of management of external and fiscal imbalances. |

| Abstrakt | In recent decades considerable attention has been paid to alternative and renewable energy. Among the alternative sources, the sun’s energy is most appealing. Therefore, the development of solar energy, in the long run, is one of the top priorities. In practice, there are numerous barriers to the growth of the solar energy market. First of all, economic: fairly high prices for solar systems and payback period; the absence of working capital from manufacturing enterprises, the absence of specific mechanisms for stimulating production in the form of subsidies, tax exemptions, preferential tariff policies, etc. Therefore, research into the development of solar energy, as a real tool for a comprehensive solution to economic and environmental problems, is becoming increasingly relevant. The paper considers the energy policy of the use of renewable energy sources in rural areas. The theoretically feasible and technically achievable potential of solar energy in the territory of Ukraine was characterized. It was noted that the sun is the most affordable supplier of energy on earth today. The use of solar radiation is expedient for the development of thermal and electric energy and is possible throughout the territory of Ukraine. The dynamics of the commissioning of solar power plants by private households was analysed. The attention is focused on the application of the ‘green’ tariff, which stimulates the increase in the number of solar projects implemented in households. A financial model of private households of choosing a solar power plant option was proposed. The problems were identified and the possibilities of using solar energy for ensuring energy independence of households and profit generation were assessed. The forecast for the development of solar energy of the period up to 2020 was made. |

| Abstrakt | The international shares placement via IPO on the WSE by several Ukrainian companies, mainly from the sector of agricultural production and processing, makes an appealing case of relatively quick and inexpensive access to foreign borrowing markets. The WIG Ukraine index shows optimistic start, period of positive gains, dramatic fall at one point and significant volatility afterwards due to both the political and macroeconomic upheavals in the home country as well as internal problems of emitents. The comparison with other indexes of WSE and other exchanges reasonably suggests that the latter reason was the main cause of the deterioration of the indicator. The investigation on the parameters of the regression model that describe time series of WIG-Ukraine index with the help of the ARIMA model reveals that short-time predictions dominate investors decisions. |

| Abstrakt | In the study the features and dynamics of investment support of Ukrainian agricultural enterprises are investigated. It concerns estimated investment in fixed assets of Ukrainian agrarian enterprises by sources of financing. It is proved that investment support is the most important prerequisite for the effective functioning and development of agricultural enterprises, as it contributes to an increase in resource potential, thus increasing industry efficiency, strengthening the country’s food security, creating preconditions for the development of the social sphere and increasing soil fertility. The main problems of enticing investments in the agrarian sphere are considered. Integral indicators of ensuring and efficiency of the use of resources in agricultural production is calculated. Modelling of investment support for the use of resource potential of agricultural enterprises is carried out. The optimal directions of increase of investment support of use of resource potential of Ukrainian agricultural enterprises are offered. |

| Abstrakt | Within the framework of implementation of overarching national tasks, special attention is paid to the food production and the matter of keeping up with the consumer demand for quality food, which is of national significance. The poultry industry is able to make its fairly considerable contribution into solving the problems of the consumer demand for valuable healthy food products; and to create conditions for the national food security owing to this industry economic growth based on its production potential development and strengthening. The domestic and foreign practice clearly demonstrates that it is possible to provide the population with quality food within a relatively short term, primarily due to the increase of egg and poultry meat production. The poultry industry is not only the most dynamic and fast-growing branch of the livestock farming, but also it has the most intensive production methods. The aim of this article is to determine the influence and the role of the poultry industry on providing the population with food supplies in present-day conditions in the world. |

| Abstrakt | The main purpose of the study is to identify food security problems in Sub-Saharan African countries. Despite progress in increasing food security in the world, it is still one of the most important challenges facing Sub- -Saharan Africa. The research shows that the food security is different across countries. The more favourable situation takes place in South Africa, Botswana, while at the other extreme are countries such as Madagascar, Burundi and Sierra Leone. The economic affordability of food seems to be the most important problem for these countries. So an inclusive growth could be a chance to improve the level of food security. |

| Abstrakt | Multi-Level Marketing is a kind of novelty in the business reality. The greatest popularity gained in Western countries, where it functions as a kind of hybrid method in distribution of the goods with the design of the sales network. It is one of the most secure business models. In Poland the awareness of this type of activity is still small and remains a wide spectrum of scientific research. This situation has led to the creation of this article. The aim of the publication is to highlight the problems of Multi-Level Marketing, an indication of the essence of this phenomenon, and show how far is different than traditional marketing. The article presents the system of functioning of this kind of business, how it works a system of charging commissions and indicated a practical example of this system. Considerations based on literature studies and case studies. |

| Abstrakt | Albania has considerable potential for growth in the fruit and vegetable market. Its climate-arable conditions are very adequate for the successful growth of a wide range of fruits and vegetables. Albania has an interior market in development and a non structured exporting market. The study is aimed at estimating and identifying export growth opportunities and constraints for fruit and vegetable exporters. The paper investigates the opinions of producers and exporters in south-west Albania. A face-to-face interview survey method was conducted. Database elaboration was made through the SPSS program. An ordinary probit regression was used to evaluate the constraints of fruit and vegetable producers in Albania. We conclude that there are several problems that hamper exportation growth in Albania. Albanian producers are usually not able to penetrate into foreign markets because they are not part of consolidated marketing distribution channels. |

| Abstrakt | Teren wschodniej Polski, szczególnie obszar leżący w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie granicy państwa, jest równocześnie wschodnim pograniczem Unii Europejskiej. Ma on wszystkie cechy typowe dla obszarów peryferyjnych. Utrudnione możliwości rozwoju gospodarczego sprawiają, że na znaczeniu zyskuje turystyka. Celem artykułu jest ocena rozwoju funkcji turystycznej na terenie powiatów leżących wzdłuż wschodniej granicy Polski. Jej poziom w poszczególnych powiatach jest zróżnicowany, co zobrazowano wskaźnikami. Analizę wskaźników uzupełniono prezentacją informacji pozyskanych z badań ankietowych wykonanych na próbie 600 mieszkańców tego terenu. Wyniki ankiety wskazały, że mieszkańcy oczekują rozwoju funkcji turystycznej oraz potrafi ą właściwie ocenić korzyści i problemy z niej wynikające. |
| Abstract | The area of eastern Poland, especially the area lying in the immediate vicinity of the state border, is also the eastern borderland of the European Union. It has all the features typical of peripheral areas. Difficult opportunities for economic development make tourism more important. The aim of the article is to assess the development of the tourist function in the poviats along the eastern Polish border. Its level in particular poviats is varied, as illustrated by indicators. The analysis of indicators was supplemented with the presentation of information obtained from surveys made on a sample of 600 inhabitants of this area. The results of the survey indicated that the inhabitants expect the development of a tourist function and are able to properly assess the benefi ts and problems resulting from it. |

| Abstrakt | Specyfika usług implikuje konieczność monitorowania ich jakości. Stale poszukiwane są metody oceny usług nieangażujące konsumentów. Jedną z nich jest metoda tajemniczego klienta. Celem publikacji jest diagnoza procedur stosowanych w badaniach marketingowych, a w szczególności wykorzystanie metody tajemniczego klienta w której ocena jest prowadzona przez zespół osób. Dla sprawdzenia tego podejścia zastosowano ocenę jakości usług gastronomicznych w wybranych placówkach sieci restauracji, takich jak: Pizza Hut, Pizzeria Da Grasso, Bobby Burger i Bierhalle. Innowacją w badaniu było wykorzystanie grupowej oceny usługi. Przyjęta metodyka pozwoliła na przeprowadzenie badania w zbliżonych do rzeczywistych warunków, gdyż zwykle ludzie idą do restauracji w kilka osób. Budowanie zespołów, które wspólnie oceniałyby jakość usług, daje również możliwość redukcji zróżnicowanej percepcji i różnych doświadczeń osób uczestniczących w badaniu. |
| Abstract | The specificity of services implies the need to monitor their quality. Methods for assessing non-consumer services are constantly sought after. The mystery client method is one of them. The purpose of this publication is to diagnose the procedures used in marketing research, and in particular to use the mysterious client method in which the assessment is conducted by a team of people. To verify this approach, the quality assessment of gastronomic services was used in selected restaurant chains, such as Pizza Hut, Pizzeria Da Grasso, Bobby Burger and Bierhalle. The innovation in the study was the use of group to evaluate services. The adopted methodology allowed to conduct the study in close to real conditions, because usually people go to a restaurant together. Building teams that would jointly assess the quality of services gives also the opportunity to reduce the diversification in perception and different experiences of people participating in the study. |
