Abstract	The aim of his article is to present the situation of the dairy market in China and India in relation to the European Union and particularly Poland. The analysis has been based on the data provided by International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN). Milk production in China and India is developing very dynamically. In 1981–2004 milk production in India increased over three times whereas in China more than eight times. Dairy production is stimulated by the domestic demand. In China in 2000–2005 milk consumption increased from 9.7 to 22.6 kg per capita per year. It has been estimated that in the following 4 years milk demand in China will double. Increasing demand along with not sufficient production capacity in China may trigger the increase in milk import. The estimated deficiency of milk products in next 4 years may amount from 13 up to 23 million tons. This situation creates new opportunities for the exporters of dairy products (the UE, Poland)

Abstract	In presented paper changes in the sugar production and in the nursery of the sugar beet in the EU brought about were described with implementing the reform of the market of the sugar. An too small interest in limiting the sugar production in 2007 caused the yr the European Commission modified principles of the reform and a possibility of the resignation led farmers from the right into the cultivation of the sugar beet in exchange for high bonuses in the framework of the so-called farmer’s initiative. At the same time they enabled sugar factories to assume this initiative under the condition of limiting the sugar production, in case of Poland, by the 13.5%. All sugar concerns took advantage of this possibility. However it turned out, that considerable part of farmers, on account of the low profitability of the cultivation of the sugar beet, doesn’t want to plant this plant. In April 2008 yr, sugar concerns had a problem with contracting the essential amount of the raw material. Therefore they persuaded farmers which relinquished their right to the cultivation to produce the raw material in frames of the limit of the sugar factory. However such a situation can cause, that Poland will become the net importer of the sugar, or else the domestic production in 2008 will be shorter than the demand

Abstract	In the paper we present the results of the research regarding relationship among euro/dollar exchange rate and other variables from financial and good markets. The analyzed time series are observed daily. In the first stage we investigate selected variables from financial and good markets that influence the euro/dollar exchange rate applying the Granger causality test. Our investigation shows that futures contract influences the euro/dollar exchange rate the most. In the second stage we construct the econometric models (ARMA-DL and ARMADL with GARCH) and artificial neural networks (Multilayer Perceptron) that are used to modelling and forecasting of the euro/dollar exchange rate. In the last stage we compare different models using goodness-of-fi t measures, Theil inequality statistic and its decomposition

Abstract	In 2005, expenditure on social protection accounted for 27.2% of GDP in the EU-27. However, the percentage share in one country can be more than double that in another. Expenditure was highest in Sweden (32.0%) and lowest in Latvia (12.4%). Expenditure on old-age and survivors benefits accounts for a large proportion of social benefits in most countries. Sickness/health care expenditure increased steadily over the period 2000–2005 in the EU-25 (by 3.4% per annum on average)

Abstract	The aim of the paper is to analyse the employment changes in Poland and the European Union in the 2000–2007 period. The main source of performed research was the Eurostat database. In examined time the employment rate increased in the whole European Union. Also the employment rate in Poland raised up (to 57% level) at the end of the year 2007, however it was lower by about 8,4 percentage points than employment average for the European Union. The employment rate of woman in Poland increased from 48,9% to 50,6% between of 2000 and 2007. Furthermore, the employment rate for older people in 55–64 age amounted to 28,4% in 2000, but in 2007 also rose to 29,7% level. Besides improving the situation on labour market, Poland will have serious difficulties in achievement the Lisbon and Stockholm Strategy target

Simple consumption function in the form proposed by Keynes. 2. Consumption function consistent with the life-cycle hypothesis by Ando and Modigliani. 3. Consumption function consistent with the theory of permanent income of Friedman. Equations of the consumption were estimated on the basis of Eurostat macroeconomic data concerning years 1995–2007. Abstract	Warsaw Stock Exchange in the years 2007 was characterized by the highest capitalization among stock exchanges of new member countries of the European Union and it is the middle size stock exchange in Europe. At the end of the year 2007 the index of capitalization of domestic companies to gross domestic product of Poland amounted to 47.3%, what shows at quantitative and qualitative development of Warsaw Stock Exchange and well realized strategy. WSE is characterized by low liquidity ratio in comparison with exchanges of Central and Eastern Europe. At the end of 2007 liquidity ratio of WSE amounted to 44.3%, when in Hungary amounted to 109,8% and in Czech Republic to 76,2%.

Abstrakt
Abstract	In the result of the EU enlargement not only a united legislative and economical body was formed on European basis, but also the support payments in many branches of economy in the new member states have increased substantially, including those in agriculture and rural development. A brief characteristics of place of agriculture in the economy of the Baltic states and Poland is given in the article, as well as that of the changes in total amount of support achieved before the entry into the EU. The effect of this support upon different agricultural holdings performance parameters (net value added, production net value added, net investments) in the period of years 2002-2006 is studied. A comparative analysis gave basis for the conclusions on the specificity of support use in the economic activity of holdings in different states.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The paper presents an analysis of the impact of the EU enlargement in 2004 on the agricultural output and incomes of the EU Member States. The main aim of the study is to test the significance of difference of reaction to enlargement in three distinct groups of members, namely the ‘old’ fifteen Member States, the ‘new’ ten Member States which accessed the EU on May 1st 2004, and the two ‘newest’ Member States, i.e. Romania and Bulgaria which accessed the EU on January 1st 2007. For the purpose of description of different countries behaviour a linear mixed model was applied.

The aim of the paper is to make an attempt at presenting the coincidence of three factors conducive to the development of lifelong learning process in rural areas: 1) EU and Polish legislation concerning the cross-compliance rule enforcement, 2) EU financial support for human capital development in the EU second programming period, 3) new banking product connected with financing adult education (Individual Learning Accounts, ILA).

Abstrakt
Abstract	This paper addresses the question of distribution of support from the EU budget and the national budget to agricultural holders in Mazovia region in comparison with Poland as a whole. In the first main section, the characteristics of the agricultural sector in the region, using main sectoral indicators, is presented. The second section illustrates the agricultural and rural support under the Rural Development Program and the Sectoral Operational Program “Restructuring and modernization of agriculture and rural development” provided to Mazovian beneficiaries with reference to this support at whole country level. Empirical analyses are based on Eurostat statistics as well as on data obtained from the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Results of the study show that the Mazovian province, which is a region that can be placed in front of agricultural development, was awarded over the period 2004-2007 a relatively high level of support and ranked first or second among all 16 provinces according to selected measures
