Abstract | The paper presents an analysis of the banking sector in China applying concentration and profi tability measures as well as clusters’ analysis. The high level of concentration of the sector was shown. The level of effi ciency was determined based on ROE and ROA indicators. Using grouping metho ds the clusters of banks were created and described in the multidimensional space of features. |

Abstract | This paper aims is to show the place of good governance in enterprises that have passed through the operating status of the national economy. Management dominates the companies to operate correctly, in connection with other enterprises, creating ever-larger and stronger company, but also is responsible for properly conducted information policy towards its shareholders and complying with all principles of good governance. This way, the activities of companies are even more effective and the risks associated with their operation are reduced. Presentation of “Best Practices” used by some companies in the index WIG – Food in the article was meant to demonstrate attitude of the boards of those companies having their application in economic practice, which became a requirement of our times. |

The land resource acquired by APA was characterized in numbers. The development process of of the Agricultural Property of the State Treasury in the years 1992–2009 was analyzed. The status of the resource at the end of 2009 was presented and commented on proposed legal changes related to the Agricultural Property of the State Treasury. |

Abstract | Sectoral Operational Programme Restructuring and Modernization of the Food Sector and Rural Development (SOP AGRICULTURAL) in 66% co-financed by EU funds and in 34% from the national budget, was one of the tools of agricultural policy in Poland in the first period after accession. As a part of this program 15 measures were implemented. One of these measure was called: “Improving in processing and marketing of agricultural products”, with a budget of 0.5 billion EUR, which made a quarter the entire programme budget. The support for processing under the SOP AGRICULTURAL consisted in the capital expenditures reimbursement to companies for construction or modernization of production facilities and infrastructure for wholesale trade in agricultural products. One of the conditions indispensable to receive support was the economic viability – i.e. the ability of companies to implement the project and to the further continuation of profitable business in the sector. The aim of the article is to present the results of “Improving in processing and marketing of agricultural products” under the SOP of Agriculture in the meat industry sector, by analyzing the financial performance of companies that have benefited from support. The study complies 20 companies from the area of five provinces from Central Poland and North-East of Poland: warmińsko - mazurskie, podlaskie, lubelskie, mazowieckie and łódzkie. Companies were divided into three groups, taking as a criterion for division the value of their assets in the base year of 2004. The study results show that some enterprises, improved financial results in line with the program. These are companies with value of assets ranging from 30 to 90 million zł. The smaller companies (asset value to 30 million zł) observed decline in financial performance. Financial situation of the largest companies (assets in excess of 90 million zł) did not change. |

Abstract | The importance of retailer’s own brands on the Polish market is inseparably connected with development of the hypermarkets’ network (so called Modern Distribution Channels, that is: hipermarkets, supermarkets and discount shops) in the trade sector. The highest share of the own brands exists in the countries of Western Europe, in Switzerland their share of the entire sale comes out at 50%, in Great Britain, Belgium, Germany and Spain about 40%. In Central and Eastern Europe the own brand’s market share comes out at between 30%–40%. Intensified concentration processes in the trade sector, stronger market competition are favourable for the increase of the own brands’ share in the sale sector also in Poland, however the share of this category of own brands on the market is the lowest in Europe and comes out at 21%. |

Abstract | The significance of organic farming in the World is increasing constantly. Especially in the European Union, partially through the more environmentally orientated reforms of the CAP. Moreover it combines economic, social and environmental objectives. Implementation of financial support made the growth of the number of organic farms in Poland possible. Unfortunately this process didn’t influence the development of the organic market. This research paper confirms the negative impacts of enforcement of organic financial support in Poland. In the future, this could result in the change in the target group for the subsidies towards organic farms that produce goods mainly for the organic market. But it will also reduce support for small family farms which future, in this case, brings into question. |

Abstract | This paper attempts to answer the question about the role of Mazovian Chamber of Agriculture in the awareness of farmers. A survey addressed to farmers was used for this purpose. The study was conducted at the turn of 2008/2009 and covered 120 farmers. Particular attention has been paid to services provided for farmers, co-operation of the Chamber with individuals being active in the agricultural sector in Poland and the local government. Examined issues are presented from the point of view of Mazovian Chamber of Agriculture as well as Mazovian farmers. |

Abstract | In this article, the sources of students financial ability and assessment of scholarship granted at Warsaw University of Life Sciences were presented. The research indicates that approximately 94% of respondents didn’t use the student’s loans and almost half of the respondents didn’t receive the scholarships from the university during their studies. It can be observed, that the most just is the system of granting scientific scholarships, and the least fair are the social, housing or maintenance scholarships. Almost three quarters of the researched population received financial support from their families. |
