Abstract
The paper is an attempt to analyze the shape of consumption of fruit and vegetable in Polish households. The analysis bases on the GUS (Central Statistical Office in Poland) data concerning individual Polish household budgets. Fruit and vegetable consumption in Poland is still small and amounts at 3.59 kg of fruit per capita per month and at 10.51 kg of vegetables, including 5.27 kg of potatoes. Apples are by far the most commonly eaten fruits – 1.25 kg per capita per month. The growing interest in tropical and southern fruits has been observed. Research results indicate, that preferences for fruits and vegetables differ between the socio- economic groups.
