Abstract	The paper presents the identifi cation and interpretation of partial financial liquidity strategies according to the risk-return concept in the agricultural enterprises, depending on the rate of return on assets. The research embraces 100 enterprises. The study period was 2008. In the research the substantial dependence between the character of partial liquidity strategies according to risk-return concept and the rate of return of agricultural enterprises was determined. High financial results were accompanied by the high level of working capital, in particular the most liquid assets. The managers of the enterprises that generated losses revealed extremely aggressive approach to the strategy of liquidity.

Abstract	The elaboration presents the performance and the range of Co-Operative Savings and Credit Unions in Poland. The article deals with the role of these unions on the financial market. Other presented issue in article concerned the aspect of loans and deposit activity of Co-Operative Savings and Credit Unions. The presented research was surveyed mainly in years 2006–2010, and included all credit unions in Poland. The financial results of SKOK were determined by a financial situation of Unions with the highest value of assets. The structure of deposits in SKOK was determined by short-term savings while the loan structure was dominated by long-term borrowings of SKOK members. This relation could influence the higher risk of decreasing level of financial liquidity of Co-Operative Savings and Credit Unions.

Abstrakt	W opracowaniu przedstawiono wpływ dotacji z działania „Poprawa przetwórstwa i marketingu artykułów rolnych” z Sektorowego Programu Operacyjnego „Restrukturyzacja i modernizacja sektora żywnościowego oraz rozwój obszarów wiejskich” (SPO) na wyniki finansowe przedsiębiorstw przemysłu mięsnego, które skorzystały z tego wsparcia. Badaniami objęto 23 przedsiębiorstwa z wschodniej, centralnej i północno-wschodniej Polski (z województw: warmińsko-mazurskiego, podlaskiego, lubelskiego, mazowieckiego, łódzkiego i podkarpackiego), które podzielono na trzy grupy według kryterium wartości aktywów w roku bazowym 2004. Przeprowadzono analizę zysków i strat przedsiębiorstw w dwóch wariantach – z dotacją i bez dotacji. Na podstawie badań wykazano, że dotacje z SPO miały zróżnicowany wpływ na wyniki finansowe przedsiębiorstw. Pomoc finansowa część przedsiębiorstw (57%) uchroniła przed ujemnymi wynikami finansowymi lub zmniejszyła rozmiar poniesionych strat. Badania dowiodły również, że wielkość zysków netto pozostałych przedsiębiorstw (43%) pozwoliłaby im na dokonanie inwestycji w zakładanym zakresie bez otrzymania dotacji.
Abstract	The paper aims to analyze the effects of financial support co-financed by the EU under the Sectoral Operational Programme Restructuring and Modernisation of the Food Sector and Rural Development (SOP), activity Improvement of processing and marketing of agricultural products. The paper investigates the financial results obtained by the companies from meat industry, which benefited from this assistance. The study included 23 companies from eastern, central and north-eastern Poland (the provinces of Warmia and Mazury, Podlaskie, Lubelskie, Mazowieckie, Podkarpackie and Lodz), that were divided into three groups according to the value of assets in the base year 2004. The analysis on profits and losses in two scenarios with and without support were conducted. The paper argues thatthe SPO had varying effects on the financial performance of companies. Financial aid for majority of companies (57%) spared from the negative financial results or helped in reduction of the losses. Studies have shown that the net profits of remaining 43% of companies would allow them to invest also without receiving the support.

The communes were assessed according to the following criteria: independent profits, self-financing of expenditures, capacity to make loans and borrow as well as value of operating surplus and value of financial result. As a result of the survey a persistence of significant diversities of the financial situation of communes was stated in the regional diameter and its deterioration in the years 2008 and 2009.

Abstrakt	W opracowaniu określono determinanty kształtujące wynik finansowy w przedsiębiorstwach rolniczych. Analiz dokonano klasyczną metodą najmniejszych kwadratów z wykorzystaniem panelu niezbilansowanego 2616 przedsiębiorstw. Stwierdzono, że w badanej grupie przedsiębiorstw na wynik finansowy wpływają takie zmienne, jak: przychody netto ze sprzedaży, kapitał własny, kredyty długoterminowe, które są znane w literaturze z zakresu nauk ekonomicznych. Zidentyfikowano także specyficzną zmienną, która odzwierciedla odpłatne użytkowanie ziemi rolniczej.
Abstract	Determinants impacting profits in agricultural enterprises were defined in the article. It was based on the analyses with the classical least squares method using the unbalanced panel of 2616 enterprises. It was found that in the examined group of enterprises the financial result was influenced by classical variable, well-known in the literature from the range of economic sciences. Additionally, specific variable was identified, which was rental payment for utilization of the agricultural land. This makes agricultural enterprises specific.

Podejście takie daje pełniejszy obraz zbiorowości polskich gospodarstw rolniczych, który można włączyć do dyskusji nad ich przyszłością czy sposobem realizacji polityki państwa wobec nich.
Abstract	The article presents an analysis of the structure of inputs and production and financial results by area groups in the sample of farms from FADN 2004-2008. This will not only allow to assess the economic efficiency of farm commodity, depending on their surface, but also allow to observed concentrations of the various inputs and outputs of production and financial in particular groups. This approach gives a fuller picture the community of Polish farms during the continuing discussions over their future, and how to implement the state policy towards them.

Abstract	The aim of this paper is to assess the significance of current liabilities in financing businesses in Poland. The proposed thesis assumed that it is variable and highly dependent on the specificity of the sector in which the business operates. The article is a part of a broader study concerned the short-term finuancing sources of businesses in Poland. It presents the empirical verification based on the data from the Polish Central Statistical Office in 1998–2007. The statistical data include financial results of businesses keeping accounting books, in which the number of employees exceeds 9. Current liabilities of the companies were presented according to the types of activities based on the Polish Statistical Classification of Economic Activities.

Abstract	After Poland accession to the European Union the value of sold production in food industry has increased dynamically. After five years of functioning in the EU structure the value of sold production increased over half. The production revival in this branch industry was the direct reason of the improvement in economical and financial results of food producers. Their indexes grew 150% and had remained on this level by several years. This was a general phenomenon, taking a stand in majority food sectors. Not earlier than last year, the slight decline in the financial and economical results in the food industry has been observed, but still they have been better than before the integration into the EU. The increase of sale and profit generated by the food industry was a result of influence, equal extensive and intensive, of the qualified factors. The biggest effect on the increase of the turnover had the grown of wealth involved in the food branch, and a high grow of sale profitability enabled increase the amount of financial result of food producers.

Abstract	The elaboration presents chosen results of conducted research in cooperative dairy in the 2000–2005 in aspect of possessed equity and shareholders funds on financial results ground. It could be ascertained that together with increasing value of equity and shareholders fund noticed higher level of average price of milk, being paid to farmers. It evidenced the increased progression of improvements in cooperatives profitability. The strongest influence of these ratios was noticed in dairies which had had the highest equity and shareholders funds. Furthermore in these group noted also weaker relation between these funds and financial liquidity, whereas this financial indicator recorded stability and favourable level comparing to remain groups. The cooperative dairies which noticed higher profits and equity capital, decided to enlarge shareholders funds. It had resulted in secure of further development conducted activity. The applications of net profit in cooperatives was useful in effectiveness’ of financial situation assessment

Abstract	The study presents the importance of cash flow in the management of financial enterprise. Cash flow is used for management of liquidity, bankruptcy prediction and credit risk assessment. The ratio analysis in research based on cash flow complements information about the financial situation and regards to cash approach. The traditional indexes calculated on the basis of data from the balance sheet and income statement do not provide complete information about the financial situation of the enterprise. This reflects from financial results which are considered as non-cash transactions, such as depreciation. Cash flow rules emphasized the importance of cash in a free market economy. The enterprise could generate the profit but due to the lack of liquidity it goes bankrupt. It is not mandatory for all enterprises to draw up the cash flow statement. For this reason, the analysis of cash flow is often ignored.

Abstract	In the last years Ukraine has allocated considerable, with respect to their load on the budget, financial resources for agricultural support. However the significant increases of budgetary support do not substantially influence the effectiveness indices nor agricultural yields. Such information testifies to an imperfect nature of the internal support mechanism of Ukrainian agriculture. As the result, the domestic support did not become an effective stimulus for a production quality increase nor for a rise in the stock breeding production. In 2008 Ukraine gathered the biggest grain harvest. Increased production did not improve the financial results of agriculture and did not produce a stable and dynamic branch development because of the negative influence of world finance crises. Unbalanced supply and demand for agricultural production, low buying ability of inhabitants, lack of branch effective mechanism of domestic support caused complications of price situation in the domestic food market

Abstrakt	Celem analizy była próba oceny wpływu reformy systemu regulacji rynku cukru w UE na sytuację w polskim cukrownictwie. Analizę przeprowadzono w oparciu o dane statystyczne dotyczące sektora cukrowniczego w zakresie wyników produkcyjno-finansowych, z uwzględnieniem ramowych uwarunkowań prawnych. Reforma WPR miała zarówno korzystny jak i negatywny wpływ na sytuację krajowego sektora przemysłu cukrowniczego.
Abstract	An attempt is made of an assessment of the influence of sugar industry regulations in the EU on the Polish sugar industry. The analysis is based on statistical data concerning production and financial results as well as the legal framework concerning the sugar sector. The CAP reform has had both positive and negative influence on the situation in the Polish sugar industry.

Abstrakt	Procesy dostosowawcze przemysłu spożywczego do gospodarki rynkowej dobrze przygotowały ten sektor do funkcjonowania na wspólnym rynku europejskim. Po wejściu Polski do UE nastąpiło przyspieszenie rozwoju produkcji i sprzedaży wyrobów przemysłu spożywczego. Był to efekt wzrostu dochodów ludności i rozwoju krajowego rynku żywności oraz bardzo wysokiego tempa wzrostu eksportu produktów rolno-spożywczych. Duża była aktywność inwestycyjna producentów żywności, do czego przyczyniło się wsparcie funduszami UE. Nastąpiła radykalna poprawa wyników i stanu finansowego przedsiębiorstw tego sektora. Nie spełniły się obawy o masowej upadłości firm krajowych i zagrożeniu importem żywności z rozwiniętych krajów UE.
Abstract	Due to adjustment processes to the market economy Polish food industry was very well prepared to operate at the Single European Market. After the accession to the EU the production of food products as well as their sale have accelerated. It resulted from a rise in personal incomes, development of domestic food market and from high growth rate of agri-food exports. Polish food producers showed intensive investment activities, which reflected the support out of the EU funds. Finally there was a distinct improvement financial results and economic performance of the sector. The previous threats concerning mass bankruptcies of the domestic companies and a peaking up agri-food imports from the EU turned false.

Przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą gospodarstw ekologicznych i konwencjonalnych w wybranych krajach oraz sformułowano wnioski dotyczące uwarunkowań rozwoju ekologicznych metod produkcji. Określono ograniczenia i szanse rozwoju rolnictwa ekologicznego jako jednej z możliwych form rolniczego gospodarowania. W konkluzji stwierdzono, że rolnictwo ekologiczne pozostanie producentem żywności dla ograniczonej liczby konsumentów.
Abstract	The paper aims to analyze the state of development of organic farming in the world including Europe and Poland. There were analyzed economic and ecological goals of organic farms. Based on conducted analyzes of organic farms in Great Britain, Austria and Germany there were presented incomes, costs and financial result in both analyzed systems. There were also described chances and limitations of organic farming. The paper argues that the organic farming will be a producer of food however for limited amount of consumers.

Abstract	Making proper decisions by people who manage enterprises is not an easy work, therefore there is a large demand for the analytical information. The financial ratio analyse is conducted in most of enterprises. However, only its extension by the causal analysis enables to define factors that influence changes in economical phenomena of enterprises. The aim of this work is an attempt to assess the factors which are most powerful in affecting the financial result of the analyzed firms as well as an estimation of the management efficiency based on the conducted research. The partial differences method has been used in the Du Pont analysis model. The study comprised the years 2002–2006. The confectionery companies: Jutrzenka, Mieszko and Wawel, all three quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange were analyzed. There have been conducted two types of analysis. The financial ratio analysis and the causal analysis based on the Du Pont model. Obtained results can be used to estimate the financial situation of firms and to make optimal managerial decisions.

Abstract	The paper presents the average value of financial standing indicators (liquidity, debt, activity and profitability ratios) for group of agricultural holdings included into FADN. Data concern 2004 and have been presented for EU countries. Furthermore, the multi-dimensional statistical analysis of the financial results recorded by agricultural farms were conducted. As a result of grouping four homogeneous clusters of farms in the EU were identified. These groups are characterized by different value of the analyzed indicators. The analysis confirms thus the occurrence of considerable diversification of the financial performance in the EU countries. The research shows also that holdings in some “new” EU countries can be competitive for holdings in the EU-15

Abstract	This paper presents assessment of the relation between technical efficiency of dairy cooperatives and their financial performance. The analysis based on 169 cooperatives shows that technical efficiency is correlated with many of financial measures. Statistic test showed significant differences between cooperatives of low and high technical efficiency. Abstract	Joint stock companies from food sector quoted at the end of 2006 at the Stock Exchange in Warsaw have been gaining better and better financial results after the deterioration of economic situation, which took place at the beginning of this decade. It is possible to notice decided improvement of property and financial situation after 2004, it means after Polish joining the European Union. Thanks to investments made by the investigated companies before the access and opening new markets the improvement of the level of chosen factors of financial analysis was done. It confirms increase of sales and property management effectiveness.
