Abstrakt	Obliczono wskaźniki efektywności technicznej w gospodarstwach zajmujących się produkcją mleka. Analiza wykazała, że poziom wskaźników efektywności w poszczególnych krajach zmienia się w zależności od zastosowanego modelu ekonometrycznego. Wykazano, że występują różnice w poziomie efektywności analizowanych krajów w poszczególnych latach. Najwięcej gospodarstw prowadzących efektywną produkcję mleka występuje w Holandii, Polsce, Irlandii, Francji, Ukrainie, Hiszpanii i Słowacji.
Abstract	The study presents estimation of technical efficiency for dairy farms. The results of research have shown that the level of indicators of technical efficiency depends on applied econometric models. Additionally, calculations give an overview of efficiency differences between countries in respective years. The executed analysis showed that the majority of effective dairy farms is located in: The Netherlands, Poland, Ireland, France, Ukraine, Spain and Slovakia.

Abstrakt	W artykule przedstawiono kształtowanie się kosztów bezpośrednich produkcji mleka, kosztów pracy i ziemi, kosztów budynków, kosztów kwoty mlecznej oraz kosztów całkowitych. Najważniejszym źródłem przychodów w analizowanych gospodarstwach były przychody ze sprzedaży mleka. Dodatkowym źródłem przychodów była sprzedaż bydła, a także płatności bezpośrednie oraz pozostałe przychody. Artykuł dostarcza także informacji o cenach uzyskiwanych za mleko, dochodowości oraz progach rentowności badanych gospodarstw. Do przeprowadzenia badania wykorzystano dane z gospodarstw specjalizujących się w produkcji mleka, utrzymujących do 50 krów, zebrane w ramach badań Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Producentów Mleka (ang. European Dairy Farmers) w 2011 roku.
Abstract	Costs, outputs and profitability of dairy farms keeping less than 50 cows in 2010 are analyzed in this paper. The analysis made by using European Dairy Farmers data. Research includes milk production, milk yield, milk price, direct costs of milk production, labour related costs, land costs, buildings costs, quota costs, milk and animal returns, farm income and break-even-points.

Abstract	The aim of this paper was to determine the situation of the EU farms in 2009 according to their production potential and to identify changes of the situation compared to 2004. FADN data was used in the paper. Then, grouping farms was conducted by means of cluster analysis. For clusters separated on farm’s equipment with production factors the financial indicators and income per farm and per employee were calculated. A more favourable income situation occurs in farms with a more correct relations between the resources of capital and other production factors, although the financial situation of those entities assessed on the basis of financial indicators is not always clearly favourable.

In order to deepen and disseminate the environmental attitudes there is a need of an increased effort and a variety of stimuli, supporting factors and fixatives. Coherent administrative, economic, legal and educational stimuli are needed: coupled in time and organized in the way, which ensures synergies in the form of the desired pro-ecological attitudes of residents – one of the pillars of sustainable development

Abstract	The formulation of the nominal convergence criteria in the Treaty establishing the European Union was dictated by the need to examine the degree of consistency in the economies of Member States. These criteria enabled verification of their readiness to participate in the Monetary Union. In particular, establishment of the fiscal criterion was aimed to impose financial discipline. Poland participates in the third stage of Economic and Monetary Union on the rights of the State with a derogation, however, it does not exempt our country from fulfilling the fiscal criterion. Exceeding the reference level of the general government sector’s deficit triggered EC’s initialization of Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP) against our country in 2009. The answer to this challenge was the Government’s plan to consolidate public finances. In 2011, at the cost of raising tax rates and eliminating most of the allowances, while limiting transfers to Open Pension Funds (OFE) and reducing social spending, an improvement of the reference indicators was achieved. Nevertheless, the results after the first quarter of 2012 are not optimistic.

Abstract	In the years 2000–2010 Polish cooperative banking sector was characterized by a strong and stable economic situation. In particular, the period 2000–2006 indicated a huge potential for cooperative banks, which allowed them to systematically increase the market share. Fundamental changes in the cooperative arrangements aimed at Western Europe – the merger of two banks associations and the ability to issue bonds by the cooperative banks, while viability of the sector and its high potential point to the significant development opportunities, further strengthening the capital and the ability to make better use of economies of scale, allowing both reduce operating costs, as well as improve the effectiveness of cooperative banks and allow the dynamic development of new technologies.

Abstract	The article is aimed at giving the assessment of marketing actions carried out in the marketing environment on the market of foodstuff. The comparative and descriptive methods, as well as the method of descriptive statistics have been used in the paper. The research period covers the years 2004–2010. In the article the essence of the product in e-marketing has been presented, paying particular attention to the needs which are being met by consumers in digital economy – the necessity to study megaproducts covering the whole range of consumers’ needs. Further various strategies pursued by business in the Internet relating to a product, including the influence of different products on human senses have been presented. The article describes the development of services provided by the Internet in the countries of the European Union and the percentage of online buyers by gender groups. It has been noted that foodstuff sold as food products is only 1.3% share of sales and paid attention to the survey comparing the time spent by consumers to buy food through the Internet.

Abstract	Structural changes in agriculture concern both production sphere as well as economic and social ones. Transformation in Polish agriculture has been performing for many years, first under influence of system transformation, next as the result of integration and globalization processes. These changes are similar to the changes in “old 15” countries of EU. Above mentioned changes regard employment reduction in agriculture, increase of production factors productivity, as well as improvement of rural farms area structure. The dynamics of transformation is greater than in “old EU – 15” countries. But productivity of production factors, especially labor productivity is far more lower than in high developed countries. The instruments of Common Agriculture Policy as well as coherence policy and structural policy are the chance for accelerating of transformation in agriculture.

Abstract	The aim of the paper is to present food situation and assess the range of food security in the European Union countries. The analysis was conducted both at national and at the household level. It was proved that nationally, in all EU countries minimum daily energy requirement was met with a surplus, but at the microeconomic level, difficulties in ensuring food security appeared in almost 9% of households in the EU-27 and even 20% of households in the EU-12. The prevalence of food insecurity varied depending on the size of the household.

Abstract	The economic crisis resulted in attempts to speed up the process of consolidation of public finances in the European Union. The purpose of this article is to determine the scale and nature of changes in the level of national state aid allocated to agriculture in recent years by the EU member states. The main source of data used on the types and scale of domestic agriculture aid granted by Member States of the EU in the period 2005–2010 was the European Commission. In the first part of the article the principles of aid for agriculture in the EU are discussed. Then the scale of support for this sector is presented. In the last part of the paper changes in the amount of support recorded in recent year are described.

However, this barrier can be overcome by food processing, resulting in more diversified food offer on the market. Analyses presented in this paper reveal, that in the countries that accessed EU in 2004 one can observe decline of the importance of agriculture. However, hypothesis concerning rise of the importance of food processing cannot be confirmed.

Abstract	The aim of the publication was to analyze the level of expenditure on research and development activities in European countries, the United States and Japan. The publication data from Eurostat, between years 2005–2008. Two indexes, GERD and GBAORD, were used to assess the expenditure in this countries. The United States lead in spending on research and development, both as a share in GDP and in absolute terms. Among European countries, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany and France spend the most on R&D. Poland holds on of the last positions. Similarly, Polish entrepreneurs invest too little in this area.

Abstract	The aim of the article is an attempt to look at the cultivation contract as an instrument of organisation of the agricultural market in the limited production system. The contract is considered with the example of one of the most ‘regulated’ agricultural markets, i.e. the sugar market. It is especially important to answer the question how much the current regulation of cultivation contracts enables the market to function effectively, in accordance with the assumptions of the Common Agricultural Policy. The article comprises both the issues concerning the changes taking place in the signing of cultivation contracts in different conditions of political systems and the role of the contract designated by the Community legislature after Poland’s accession to the European Union. The considerations end with an attempt to answer the question which direction the regulation of law concerning cultivation contracts should go from the point of view of a sugar beet grower and sugar manufacturer.

Abstrakt	Program przygotowań do przeprowadzenia w Polsce Mistrzostw Europy w piłce nożnej w 2012 r. jest od kilku lat strategicznym przedsięwzięciem. Na proces ten składają się dwa zasadnicze zagadnienia: przygotowanie infrastruktury warunkującej przeprowadzenie turnieju oraz stworzenie odpowiedniej organizacji pozwalającej na maksymalnie sprawne przeprowadzenie tak dużej i długiej imprezy masowej. Należy podkreślić, że wszystkie elementy przygotowań do turnieju wymagają zastosowania możliwie nowoczesnych i wydajnych metod zarządzania. Efektywna realizacja zadań w aspekcie organizacyjnym w tym przypadku nie będzie jednorazowym działaniem w sytuacji awaryjnej, czy też nadzwyczajnej. Zmiana kulturowa (jeśli się dokona) może oznaczać, że polskie instytucje funkcjonują skutecznie w nowoczesnym środowisku zarządczym.
Abstract	The preparations for the conduct of the European Championships in Poland in football in 2012 is the strategic project for several years. This process consists of two fundamental issues: preparation of the infrastructure to carry out the tournament and conditioning the development of an appropriate organization which allows for up to the efficient conduct of such a large and long mass event. It should be emphasized that all elements of preparation for the tournament possibly require modern and efficient management methods. Efficient implementation of tasks in terms of their organization, in this case is not one-off in an emergency situation or emergency. Cultural change (if made?) may mean that Polish institutions function effectively in the modern managerial environment.

Zmiany klimatyczne uwzględniano dotychczas w pakiecie zmian środowiskowych, aktualnie przewiduje się wyodrębnienie problematyki zapobiegania i adaptacji do zmian klimatycznych w nowych praktykach wspólnotowych w tym we Wspólnej Polityce Rolnej. Uwzględnienie zmian klimatycznych we WPR rodzi potrzebę rozwoju badań naukowych w tym zakresie.
Abstract	The article discusses climate change causes and effects on agriculture sector and rural areas. The analysis were performed in the context of current and future Common Agricultural Policy of European Union. European Union policy is predicting to distinguish climate change issues in the new practices including Common Agricultural Policy. Taking into account climate change policies causes the necessity for scientific research development in this area.
