Abstrakt	W artykule przedstawiono udział produkcji mleka w Polsce w latach 2000-2010 w strukturze towarowej produkcji rolniczej oraz zmiany poziomu i relacji między kosztami podstawowych czynników produkcji, pracy i kapitału a cenami zbytu produktów rolnych oraz pogarszającą się jednostkową opłacalność produkcji rolniczej, w tym także mleka. Dokonano oceny ekonomiki gospodarstw mlecznych w zależności od skali produkcji. Wskazano, że decydującym czynnikiem rozwoju gospodarstw mlecznych jest skala produkcji mleka. Szanse rozwojowe mają gospodarstwa mleczne utrzymujące ponad 30 krów mlecznych o wydajności rocznej ponad 5500 kg. Dokonano porównań efektów produkcyjnych i ekonomicznych gospodarstw z Polski i innych państw Unii Europejskiej nastawionych na produkcję mleka.
Abstract	The paper shows participation of milk production in total sold agricultural production in Poland in 2000- 2010. The changes of level and the relationship between costs of fundamental production factors, labour and capital, and agricultural products prices were described. The unit profitability of agricultural production, including milk production, is decreasing. A comparison of the economics of the groups of dairy farms isolated due to the scale of the production was done. It was found that the scale of production is a key factor of dairy farms development. Only farms keeping at least 30 dairy cows and characterized by milk yield amounts of at least 5500 kg have an opportunity to develop. The production and economic effects of Polish and European Union dairy farms were compared.

Abstrakt	W pracy zaprezentowano motywy i kolejne etapy deregulacji wspólnotowej organizacji rynku mleka począwszy od reformy WPR z 2003 r. Przedstawiono dane dotyczące restrukturyzacji i pozycji na rynku UE polskiego sektora mleczarskiego w ostatnich latach. W celu oceny skutków dalszej deregulacji, polegającej przede wszystkim na wycofaniu systemu limitów produkcji (kwot), przywołano wyniki badań z użyciem modeli ekonometrycznych przeprowadzonych na zlecenie KE i MRiRW, a także najnowsze długookresowe prognozy sytuacji na tym rynku. Można oczekiwać, iż z uwagi na dotychczasowe postępy w restrukturyzacji i modernizacji oraz możliwości dalszej poprawy efektywności polski sektor mleczarski poradzi sobie z ewentualnymi kolejnymi etapami deregulacji. Niezbędne dostosowania strukturalne generowałyby jednak koszty społeczne i środowiskowe. Istotnym czynnikiem w procesie adaptacji do nowych warunków będzie wysokość i ukierunkowanie wsparcia tego sektora w ramach nowej WPR po 2013 r.
Abstract	The article presents the rationale and consecutive steps of deregulation of the common market organization in the dairy sector, which has started with the 2003 CAP reform. The authors also present statistics on restructuring and performance of the Polish dairy sector in a single market over recent years. To asses potential implications of possible further deregulation, which would result in milk quota abolition, results of econometric analyses (commissioned by the EC and MARD) as well as recent long-term market projections have been quoted. Taking into account undergone restructuring and modernization as well as the still existing potential for further efficiency improvement one can expect that the Polish dairy sector can cope well with the further deregulation of the CAP market regime in this sector. The level and priorities of the support under the new CAP after 2013 will be of great significance for the adaptation process to the new policy conditions in this sector.

Abstract	The aim of the article is an attempt to look at the cultivation contract as an instrument of organisation of the agricultural market in the limited production system. The contract is considered with the example of one of the most ‘regulated’ agricultural markets, i.e. the sugar market. It is especially important to answer the question how much the current regulation of cultivation contracts enables the market to function effectively, in accordance with the assumptions of the Common Agricultural Policy. The article comprises both the issues concerning the changes taking place in the signing of cultivation contracts in different conditions of political systems and the role of the contract designated by the Community legislature after Poland’s accession to the European Union. The considerations end with an attempt to answer the question which direction the regulation of law concerning cultivation contracts should go from the point of view of a sugar beet grower and sugar manufacturer.

Abstract	The monetary policy of central bank influences the cost of money and determines the amount of credit incurred by households. The article presents the impact of National Bank of Poland’s interest rate on household’s liabilities. Theoretical analysis comes to a conclusion that an increase of interest rate will cause the decrease of household’s liabilities. The paper shows research’s results on the basis of data collected in the period of 2003–2011. Relationship between monetary policy and household’s liabilities was presented with reference to long-term and short-term debt.

Abstract	The paper is an attempt to analyze the shape of consumption of fruit and vegetable in Polish households. The analysis bases on the GUS (Central Statistical Office in Poland) data concerning individual Polish household budgets. Fruit and vegetable consumption in Poland is still small and amounts at 3.59 kg of fruit per capita per month and at 10.51 kg of vegetables, including 5.27 kg of potatoes. Apples are by far the most commonly eaten fruits – 1.25 kg per capita per month. The growing interest in tropical and southern fruits has been observed. Research results indicate, that preferences for fruits and vegetables differ between the socio- economic groups.

In Poland, the highest costs of social benefits due to accidents at work were reported in 2007 while the lowest costs were observed in 2006. In the food industry the highest average costs of social benefits due to accidents at work were recorded in 2008, and the lowest in 2006.

Abstract	Risks are connected to each economy action. Risks in financial markets are mainly important because their occurring can evolve losses or gains. Precise instruments should be used in risk management process to minimize possibilities of occurring losses. In banking sector credit risk play a major role in loan activity. The aim of an article is to indicate an importance of credit risk management in aspect of monitoring of quality of granted loans. An examination is based on analysis of quality of credit portfolio as a share of threat loans in credit portfolio of banking sector in Poland. Results shown an increasing share of bad loans in following years in each group of borrowers with special progress in group of households loans.

Abstract	The formulation of the nominal convergence criteria in the Treaty establishing the European Union was dictated by the need to examine the degree of consistency in the economies of Member States. These criteria enabled verification of their readiness to participate in the Monetary Union. In particular, establishment of the fiscal criterion was aimed to impose financial discipline. Poland participates in the third stage of Economic and Monetary Union on the rights of the State with a derogation, however, it does not exempt our country from fulfilling the fiscal criterion. Exceeding the reference level of the general government sector’s deficit triggered EC’s initialization of Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP) against our country in 2009. The answer to this challenge was the Government’s plan to consolidate public finances. In 2011, at the cost of raising tax rates and eliminating most of the allowances, while limiting transfers to Open Pension Funds (OFE) and reducing social spending, an improvement of the reference indicators was achieved. Nevertheless, the results after the first quarter of 2012 are not optimistic.

The effects of the global economic crisis from resulted in the decreasing levels of financial liquidity in companies of the branches analyzed.

Abstract	The aim of this study is to determine the scale and structure of the investment activity of Middle Pomerania agricultural enterprises. The analysis was based on the value of investment and gross fixed assets in enterprises employing more than 9 people. The study covered data published by the CSO (GUS). The analyzed companies represent the agricultural sector in the region of Middle Pomerania (the area of Zachodniopomorskie and Pomorskie Voivodships). The period of study covers the years 2002–2010. The study shows that the value of investments in Poland from 2002 to 2008, has grown steadily. From the moment of crisis in global markets investment dynamics decreased. In agricultural enterprises, contrary to others, there was an increase in investment outlays in 2010, compared to the previous period. The agricultural sector was characterized by the lowest share of investments. The participation of agricultural enterprises in the region of Middle Pomerania in investment spending of the surveyed companies was higher than the share of agricultural enterprises in Poland, reflecting the agricultural character of this area.

Abstract	The aim of the paper is formulated by describing three research tasks: a) the identification of income sources of households in Poland, and their structure, with particular emphasis on income from individual farms in the years 1996– –2010; b) the analysis of the Middle Pomerania households structure – by sources of income; c) the evaluation of the agricultural income significance in household income of Middle Pomerania. The main source of households’ income in Poland was the hired labor, social security and social assistance benefits. Agricultural activity of farms is essential in realizing of the productively farms’ function in Poland. Different situation is in the region of Middle Pomerania. Households whose main source of income are pensions determine the largest percentage of the reference population (the greater extent in the Koszalin subregion than in the Slupsk subregion), followed by a household whose main income was wage labor, then farming. During the analyzed period the household income of farmers increased, but these entities are still the socio-economic group, which achieves some of the lowest income. Therefore, the households of farmers looking for alternative sources of income, or a completely abandon the agricultural business, which is confirmed by the decreasing number of farms in Poland.

Abstract	The study provides an assessment of profitability of strawberries, grown for direct consumption in the traditional time of harvest. The aim was to determine the economic impact of strawberries in Poland and in the world, determine the direction of the use of strawberries in Poland and to determine the profitability of production and the factors shaping it. Our study was carried out for the period 2006–2011 in deliberately chosen farm, where for more than 10 years are produced strawberries. It was found that the fundamental determinants of profitability was the level of yields, the price obtained and the level of direct costs incurred in the production process.

Abstract	The article is aimed at giving the assessment of marketing actions carried out in the marketing environment on the market of foodstuff. The comparative and descriptive methods, as well as the method of descriptive statistics have been used in the paper. The research period covers the years 2004–2010. In the article the essence of the product in e-marketing has been presented, paying particular attention to the needs which are being met by consumers in digital economy – the necessity to study megaproducts covering the whole range of consumers’ needs. Further various strategies pursued by business in the Internet relating to a product, including the influence of different products on human senses have been presented. The article describes the development of services provided by the Internet in the countries of the European Union and the percentage of online buyers by gender groups. It has been noted that foodstuff sold as food products is only 1.3% share of sales and paid attention to the survey comparing the time spent by consumers to buy food through the Internet.

Abstract	A discussion was made with regard to issues related to the visualization of data concerning agricultural producer groups and their concentration in Poland. Analysis was carried out with regard to differentiation of agricultural producer groups across provinces, and with regard to their profiles, which shows that the largest number of agricultural producer groups have been established in the provinces of Wielkopolska, Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Silesia. Most agricultural producer groups focus on the production of cereals, pigs and poultry, and the most common legal form for the groups is limited liability company.

Abstract	The aim of the publication was to analyze the level of expenditure on research and development activities in European countries, the United States and Japan. The publication data from Eurostat, between years 2005–2008. Two indexes, GERD and GBAORD, were used to assess the expenditure in this countries. The United States lead in spending on research and development, both as a share in GDP and in absolute terms. Among European countries, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany and France spend the most on R&D. Poland holds on of the last positions. Similarly, Polish entrepreneurs invest too little in this area.
