Abstrakt	Przedstawiono analizę efektywności spółdzielni mleczarskich w zależności od wielkości skali produkcji. Spółdzielnie poddano analizie porównawczej według takich miar efektywności, jak: produktywność aktywów, efektywność płacy, rentowność aktywów, rentowność sprzedaży, rentowność kapitału własnego, wskaźnik efektywności Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) oraz Indeks Malmquista. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że wraz ze wzrostem skali poprawie ulega: efektywność płacy, rentowność sprzedaży, rentowność aktywów, rentowność kapitału własnego oraz wskaźnik efektywności DEA w modelu CCR.
Abstract	This paper presents assessment of relation between scale of dairy cooperatives and their efficiency. The analysis based on 333 objects shows that the large scale leads to the higher labour productivity, return on assets (ROA), return on sales (ROS), return on equity (ROE) and efficiency indicator based on DEA (input-orientated measures CCR). However the research does not confirm that large scale leads to the higher assets productivity and Malmquist Index.

Abstrakt	Artykuł dotyczy analizy przestrzennej ogólnego poziomu rolnictwa w Polsce oraz poziomu aktywności gospodarstw rolnych w zakresie pozyskiwania środków UE. Wyniki przedstawiono w formie średniej wartości znormalizowanej, a różnicę między nimi określono jako wskaźnik oddziaływania absorpcji funduszy UE na poziom rolnictwa. Przeprowadzona analiza wykazała, że pozytywne oddziaływanie środków UE na rolnictwo (poziom aktywności rolników był wyższy od poziomu rozwoju rolnictwa) szczególnie wyraźnie zaznacza się w województwach kujawskopomorskim, lubelskim, pomorskim i świętokrzyskim
Abstract	The article deals with a spatial analysis of the general condition of Polish agriculture and the level of farmers’ activity in obtaining subsidies from the EU funds. The results have been presented in the form of an average standardized value while the difference between them has been interpreted as an indicator of influence of the EU funds on the level of agricultural development. The analysis indicates that a positive influence of the EU funds on agriculture (farmers’ activity level exceeded the agricultural development level) was most conspicuous in the following voivodeships: Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Lublin, Pomeranian and Świętokrzyskie.

Abstrakt	Celem opracowania jest określenie stopnia wykorzystania potencjału plonowania odmian zbóż w produkcji rolniczej w Polsce w okresie 1970-2007. Stwierdzono, że poziom wykorzystania postępu w plonowaniu wprowadzanego w nowych odmianach był relatywnie niski. Wynosił on od 7% dla jęczmienia jarego do 80% dla pszenicy. średnio było to 55%. Wynikiem takiego wykorzystania było zwiększenie luki plonowania z 40 do 55% w analizowanym okresie. Stwierdzono, że główną przyczyną niskiego wykorzystania potencjalnej produktywności odmian było ograniczanie poziomu nawożenia mineralnego w latach 90., a zmniejszanie luki technologicznej może pozwalać na wzrost produkcji nawet o 20-30% bez wzrostu nakładów.
Abstract	This paper presents results of estimates of utilization of cereals species potential productivity in Polish agriculture in 1970-2007. Series of yield indicators were employed to ascertain the level of species potential utilization. The results gained shows that the potential of yielding bringing by new varieties was weak utilized in production. The lowest level, only 7% was observed for spring barley and the highest, 80 percent for winter wheat, while for all cereals average it was 55%. Between 1970 and 2007 yield gap rose from 40 to 55%. The main reason of yields declining was dramatically low use of mineral fertilizer after 1990. The analysis suggest that it is possible to increase of cereals production in Poland by about 20-30% if farmers will avoid many inaccuracies in production technology.

W analizie opartej na danych statystycznych GUS, uwzględniono zmiany w produkcji roślinnej i zwierzęcej oraz w intensywno .ci i strukturze produkcji towarowej polskiego rolnictwa, w latach 2000-2007.
Abstract	The paper deals with the regional differentiation of changes of some indicators characteristic for Polish agriculture. Based on statistical data from the years 2000 and 2007, it was found that the trends and dynamics of the changes considerably vary between the provinces. Such a situation is caused not only by the general macroeconomic conditions, but also by the unique character of agriculture in particular provinces. This is the agrarian structure that greatly affects the dynamics of indicator changes. The analysis proved that the regional agricultural differentiation has strengthened over the last years. While in western and northern Poland commercial farms become more and more important, a large number of small farms in south-eastern part of the country lose the commercial character and transform into self sufficient, social farms. The regional differentiation of changes in Polish agriculture should be analyzed regularly as some phenomena and trends seem evident after longer periods of time.

Abstrakt
Abstract	This paper addresses the question of distribution of support from the EU budget and the national budget to agricultural holders in Mazovia region in comparison with Poland as a whole. In the first main section, the characteristics of the agricultural sector in the region, using main sectoral indicators, is presented. The second section illustrates the agricultural and rural support under the Rural Development Program and the Sectoral Operational Program “Restructuring and modernization of agriculture and rural development” provided to Mazovian beneficiaries with reference to this support at whole country level. Empirical analyses are based on Eurostat statistics as well as on data obtained from the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Results of the study show that the Mazovian province, which is a region that can be placed in front of agricultural development, was awarded over the period 2004-2007 a relatively high level of support and ranked first or second among all 16 provinces according to selected measures

Abstract	The paper presents the average value of financial standing indicators (liquidity, debt, activity and profitability ratios) for group of agricultural holdings included into FADN. Data concern 2004 and have been presented for EU countries. Furthermore, the multi-dimensional statistical analysis of the financial results recorded by agricultural farms were conducted. As a result of grouping four homogeneous clusters of farms in the EU were identified. These groups are characterized by different value of the analyzed indicators. The analysis confirms thus the occurrence of considerable diversification of the financial performance in the EU countries. The research shows also that holdings in some “new” EU countries can be competitive for holdings in the EU-15

Abstract	The elaboration introduced dependences between the debt level and European Size Unit (ESU) with relation to efficiency of individual agricultural farms. Farms which have been using the greatest degree of the external financing resources were characterized with the highest profitability of the equity capital. The interests charge from credits of the agriculture income from the family-holding was the highest in the economically weakest farms with the biggest debt level. The income indicators of the cropland area and the economic work productivity increased together with higher ESU. The farms with the biggest debt level noticed the highest current financial liquidity, however this index was similar to recommended size. In farms without liabilities appeared the highest participation of the working capital in relation to assets. However this participation was the lowest in most economically strong agriculture farms. Managers of these farms streamlined the level of a current financial liquidity and amount of the working capital, that enabled to obtain the highest efficiency of the productive factors usage

Abstract	The paper presents the issue of potential relation between dynamics of dairy cooperatives’ scale and financial performance. The review of the literature in the analyzed area was done. Next the results of analysis of differences between dairies of low, medium and high dynamics of assets growth was presented. Statistics tests showed significant differences between analyzed three groups among such indicators as current liquidity, acid test, debts to assets ratio, debts to equity ratio, labour efficiency ratio and profitability ratios.

Abstract	The paper presents the cost-analysis carried out in agricultural farms in relation to cropland area and the level of debts. The analysis were conducted for 2005. The researches were executed for individual agricultural farms in Mazowsze and Podlasie regions. The highest participation of production costs in revenues was noticed in farms with the smallest cropland area and the lowest level of debts. This results in higher cost absorption of the agriculture production, as well as the lack of modern machines which could contribute to decrease of production costs. In the smallest farms, which have had high level of debts, the production cost in relation to work counted per hour was the highest, which is due to work engagement of whole farmer’s family. The participation of farming costs in amount of all costs was decreasing together with the height cropland area. The highest participation of depreciation in production costs was observed in the group of the smallest farms, which owns very depreciated fixed assets

Abstract	The paper aims to analyze the economic and financial conditions of the companies owned by the Agency of Agricultural Property. The applied ratio analysis is based on different economic and financial indicators. There were analyzed three groups of companies . plant breeding companies, animal breeding companies as well as horses breeding companies. In results similarities and differences between these groups of companies in different areas of activities were shown.

Abstract	The paper aims to present the financial and economic situation of plant and animal breeding companies owned by the Agency of Agricultural Property. The research period cover the years 1997- 2007 and the analysis were conducted for 51 companies. There were analyzed indicators of labour efficiency, financial liquidity, effectiveness of activity, profitability and indebtedness. Accordingly the areas of the activity of the researched companies were analyzed. The results show that in case of almost all indicators, besides indicator of debt payment and return of fixed assets, there was a positive tendency.

Abstrakt	Przedstawiono ocenę stopnia zrównoważonego rozwoju 105 rodzinnych gospodarstw rolniczych, specjalizujących się w produkcji mleka w zależności od udziału trwałych użytków zielonych powierzchni użytków rolnych. Badania z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza wywiadu przeprowadzono na terenie trzech gmin w województwie podlaskim. Zaproponowano również formułę syntetycznego wskaźnika do oceny zgodności praktyk rolniczych z zasadami gospodarowania zrównoważonego. Badania wykazały, że z udziałem trwałych użytków zielonych w strukturze użytków rolnych były istotnie ujemnie skorelowane takie zmienne, jak: intensywność organizacji produkcji roślinnej, wskaźnik bonitacji użytków rolnych, poziomy nawożenia N i P, wielkość i wartość (towarowa) produkcji roślinnej, salda bilansowe N i P, wskaźnik pokrycia gruntów ornych roślinnością oraz syntetyczny wskażnik zgodności praktyk rolniczych z zasadami gospodarowania zrównoważonego. Natomiast z udziałem TUZ wysoce dodatnio korelował wskaźnik pokrycia użytków rolnych roślinnością.
Abstract	The paper presents an evaluation of the degree of sustainable development of dairy farms depending on the percentage of grasslands in their total acreage under crops. The soils of the surveyed farms were light and classified as rye-growing complexes. Criteria and indices related to production, environment and farm economics were included in the evaluation. A synthetic indicator was proposed to assess the compatibility of farming practices with sustainable management principles. The study showed the percentage of grassland to be negatively correlated with such variables intensiveness of crop production organization, as soil quality indicator, N and P fertilization rates, crop production volume and commercial value, N and P input-uptake soil balance, vegetation cover indicator, and the synthetic indicator of the compatibility of farming practices with sustainable management principles. The only positively correlated factor was cropland vegetation cover over the year.

Abstrakt	W artykule podjęto próbę analizy zróżnicowania społeczno-ekonomicznego, potencja??u produkcyjnego oraz efektywności wytwarzania w rolnictwie regionów Polski i Niemiec. Wykazano, że rolnictwo polskie i niemieckie charakteryzuje się dużym zróżnicowaniem międzyregionalnym w zakresie analizowanych cech.
Abstract	Socio-economic differentiation, production potential and efficiency of production in agriculture in Polish and German regions were analysed in the article. It was affirmed that both Polish and German agriculture is characterized by a strong regional differentiation with regard to the indicators.

Abstract	The article presents some considerations about the support for agriculture in the UE-15 and Poland and the role of its macroeconomic conditions. Stimuli applied by fiscal policy are of the great importance for creating a target model for transformation. The article consists of two parts. In the first part the most important indicators according to OECD’s methodology, through prism of a created agricultural model are analyzed. A selection of macroeconomic determinants and assumptions of a pendulum model are presented. In the second part the transition of macroeconomic determinants and the evaluation of economic policy of support for agriculture in selected countries are described. The level and divergence of support is being observed. Some changes in the structure of support are3 noticed. At last the transition in macroeconomic conditions is characterized. From 1990 to 2005 a domination of stabilization option in the economic policy, slowing down of economic growth and raising unemployment rate prevailed. In the EU the economic policy managed to isolate the support for agriculture from the macroeconomic conditions, especially from the budget deficit, the interest rate and the unemployment rate but in Poland it did not

Abstrakt	Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie aktualnego stanu oraz prognoz związanych z rolnictwem ekologicznym w Polsce. Przeprowadzono analizę wykorzystując dane statystyczne z opracowań GUS, IJHARS oraz Ministerstwa Rolnictwa i Rozwoju Wsi, dotyczące gospodarstw produkujących metodami ekologicznymi w Polsce. W Polsce warunki do produkcji metodami ekologicznymi są sprzyjające. Integracja z Unią Europejską stworzyła możliwości wzrostu tego sektora gospodarki żywnościowej.
Abstract	Presentation of the current state of organic agriculture in Poland is the aim of this article, its changes as well as prognoses for the farms using organic methods of production. The analysis was conducted using studies by GUS, IJHARS as well as statistical data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, relating to farms using organic methods in Poland. Conditions for organic production are favourable in Poland. The integration with the European Union created a possibility of growth of this sector of food economy

Abstrakt
Abstract	The paper examines the impact of development of agricultural sector on performance of the cooperative banks in Poland in years 1997-2004. The levels of the agricultural development and the economic/financial situation of the banks were assessed by using country-level and regional-level aggregate indicators based on the factor analysis. The research results show that the type of region (i.e. voivodeship and macro-region) has a statistically significant impact both on the aggregate indicator of agricultural development and the aggregate indicator of banks’ performance. As for the relationship between the agricultural development level and the economic/financial situation of banks, statistically significant correlations were found only for four out of sixteen voivodeships.
