Abstract	In Poland, in the sequence of recent years, changes in financing SME activity took place. Entrepreneurs are diverging from internal source of finances more and more by devoting to others forms of raising possessed capital. It is caused by increasing competition which is forcing companies to taking higher risk. A competent choice of the financing source is a substantial problem. It should have a beneficial influence on the profitability in the enterprise, as well as keeping the financial risk at reasonable level. The main direct benefit was a possibility of using structural funds after the accession of Poland into the EU, especially for the SME business sector. The implementation of programs which are co-financed by the EU funds is bringing visible effects more and more.

Abstract	The elaborations presents the level of agriculture tax in farms which conduced, during the researched period, agriculture accountancy according to FADN system. The article deals also with the relationship between generate sales revenues (total output) and family farm income. The presented research was surveyed in 2004–2007 in Mazowsze and Podlasie region. Farms have been characterized by criterion of cropland area, agriculture type and Economic Size Unit. The highest agriculture tax burden noticed in farms which characterized with the lowest economic power. The level of paid agriculture tax in relation to sale revenues was low and the highest tax burden noticed in group 10–30 ha of cropland area. The visible influence of this tax was perceptible in farms which managed a crop production.

Abstract	The elaboration presents the debt level in relation to possessed cropland area used in agriculture farms. The article deals also with statistical regression model in which as a dependent variable chose the level of liabilities calculated per one hectare of cropland area. The presented research was surveyed in years 2004–2007, in Mazowsze and Podlasie region. Farms have been characterized by criterion of cropland area and were divided into six groups according to classification of PL-FADN. The regression models, estimated in elaborations showed that a variable of debt calculated per hectare of cropland area influenced on the degree of financial leverage and supply turnover in each year. It presented specific factors which had an impact on farmers investments decisions. The highest number of agriculture farms, which recorded foreign capital usage in financing structure, noticed in group of farms which noticed over 40 hectares of cropland area.

Abstract	The elaboration presents chosen results of conducted research in cooperative dairy in the 2000–2005 in aspect of possessed equity and shareholders funds on financial results ground. It could be ascertained that together with increasing value of equity and shareholders fund noticed higher level of average price of milk, being paid to farmers. It evidenced the increased progression of improvements in cooperatives profitability. The strongest influence of these ratios was noticed in dairies which had had the highest equity and shareholders funds. Furthermore in these group noted also weaker relation between these funds and financial liquidity, whereas this financial indicator recorded stability and favourable level comparing to remain groups. The cooperative dairies which noticed higher profits and equity capital, decided to enlarge shareholders funds. It had resulted in secure of further development conducted activity. The applications of net profit in cooperatives was useful in effectiveness’ of financial situation assessment

Abstract	In article undertook attempt to asses the financial leverage and rate on equity (ROE) in two agriculture farms which differentiate with the level of cash and financing strategy. The elaboration deals with two types of investments: purchase of a cropland area and animals, which were supported by preferential credit from Agency of Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA). The conducted research indicated that the level of cash did not affected the level of obtain financial leverage, whereas it was necessary to take advantage from foreign capital used in farm activity. The survey confirmed that farmers should not postpone investments because it had negative influence on the level of possible losses

Abstract	The develop of foreign direct investments (FDI) in Poland in 2000–2007 and their influence on creating the places of the work and enlargement productivity of labour are presented in this article. In the first part of the paper was presented analyze of dynamics level and structure FDI and their spacing location. Moreover, size and structure employment and productivity labour with part of foreign capital was presented. The main conclusion from this analyze is positive influence FDI on increase employment and level of efficiency and high regional diversification. The most number of work places was created in heavy economics (strong economically regions), mainly in voivodships: mazowieckie, wielkopolskie i dolnośląskie.

Abstract	The problem of balanced development is closely connected to the process of multi-functional development of rural areas. Lowering role of agricultural activity as source of maintenance rural population requires implementing of non-agricultural economic activities into rural areas. The goal of the paper was to identify most important factors that have influence on the development of entrepreneurship what leads to improvement of life status in rural areas. Social and economic transformation of Polish rural areas is still in progress. Low level of technical and social infrastructure, the characteristic feature of Polis countryside does not attract investors. Therefore the entrepreneurship level can develop proper only if supported by local and state authorities.

Abstrakt
Abstract	In the last years Ukraine has allocated considerable, with respect to their load on the budget, financial resources for agricultural support. However the significant increases of budgetary support do not substantially influence the effectiveness indices nor agricultural yields. Such information testifies to an imperfect nature of the internal support mechanism of Ukrainian agriculture. As the result, the domestic support did not become an effective stimulus for a production quality increase nor for a rise in the stock breeding production. In 2008 Ukraine gathered the biggest grain harvest. Increased production did not improve the financial results of agriculture and did not produce a stable and dynamic branch development because of the negative influence of world finance crises. Unbalanced supply and demand for agricultural production, low buying ability of inhabitants, lack of branch effective mechanism of domestic support caused complications of price situation in the domestic food market

Abstrakt
Abstract	Authors define and explain the meaning of two concepts, namely human and social capital and their influence on the socio-economic progress in agriculture and rural areas. The presented studies and analyses point to the link between the growing role of these two factors and the general socio-economic progress. A major part of the paper is devoted to analysing the past and current state of human and social capital in Poland, focusing on their deficiencies and the need to improve their quality. In conclusion the authors note that the significant inflow of financial means after the the Polisj accession to the EU as well as structural and administrative changes will not bring in full the possible benefits in the future unless there is an improvement in quality and an increase of creative participation of the human and social capital. The health aspect is also explored in the paper as a crucial element influencing human capital in the Polish rural areas.

Abstrakt	W artykule przedstawiono zmiany zachodzące w zasobach siły roboczej w rolnictwie w latach 1996-2007 pod wpływem przemian społeczno-gospodarczych oraz członkostwa Polski w Unii Europejskiej. Szczegółowej analizie poddano zmiany liczby pracujących w gospodarstwach rolnych w jednostkach AWU na tle zmian demograficznych i ekonomicznych (wielkości gospodarstw rolnych) oraz zmiany w strukturze płci i wieku użytkowników gospodarstwa rolnego.
Abstract	The article shows the changes in the labour force in agriculture in the years 1996-2007, against the background of changes in demography and economy (farm size), as a result of socioeconomic changes and Poland’s membership in the European Union. The fact that Poland joined the European Union has positively influenced the economic activity in agriculture and, at the same time, it has slowed down the process of transferring agricultural labour force to non-farming jobs. In 2007 a positive change in the demographic structure of farming population was recorded. Generally, between 1996 and 2007 a decline in labour force was noted, but between 2002 and 2007 a slight increase was recorded. A negative phenomenon, however, is the fact that a large portion of the labour force in individual farms remains unused. Over-intensive employment in farming may lead to both open and hidden agricultural unemployment. Structural and quantitative changes in labour force show diverse intensity in individual voivodeships. Northern Poland, where large-size farms predominate, has lower density of farming population and a larger percentage of hired labour force. Central and South-Eastern Poland, however, shows a high density of population working in farming and a high share of people in working age running family farms.

Abstrakt	Celem opracowania było określenie wpływu przystąpienia Polski do Unii Europejskiej na produkcję i wykorzystanie surowców żywnościowych. Analizę przeprowadzono w oparciu o dane wtórne pochodzące z opracowań Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego oraz Instytutu Ekonomiki Rolnictwa i Gospodarki Żywnościowej. Uwzględniono okres od 2000 do 2007 r. Stwierdzono, że na wielu rynkach surowców żywnościowych zaszły zmiany będące wynikiem m.in. funkcjonowania instrumentów Wspólnej Polityki Rolnej. W konsekwencji pojawiły się zmiany w przeciętnym spożyciu żywności.
Abstract	The aim of the study was to define and quantify the influence of Polish accession to the EU on production and utilization of food raw materials. The analysis was based on secondary data from studies of the Central Statistical Office and the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics. The analysed period was 2000-2007. It was stated that after the Polish entry into the European Union a lot of changes in many food raw material markets took place as a result of functioning of the Common Agricultural Policy instruments. At the same time alterations in average food consumption appeared.

Abstrakt	Celem niniejszego opracowania jest próba ukazania wpływu cech jakościowych zasobów pracy jako czynnika różnicującego wydajność zbioru owoców truskawki. W analizie zostały uwzględnione takie czynniki jak wiek i płeć zbieraczy, suma dni pracy, wiek plantacji, data i termin zbioru (początek, pełnia i koniec zbioru). Przeciętna wydajność zbioru owoców truskawki w badanym gospodarstwie w 2008 roku wyniosła 6,47 kg na jedną godzinę pracy. Wiek i płeć pracownika miały istotny wpływ na poziom wydajności zbioru owoców truskawki.
Abstract	The purpose of this paper is an attempt of showing the role of qualitative features of labour resources as a factor which diversifies the level of strawberry harvesting productivity. Such features as age and sex of pickers, total number of picking days, age of plantation and harvest date and time were taken into consideration in the analysis. The average productivity in strawberry picking in the investigated farm in 2008 amounted to 6.47 kg per hour. The age and sex of pickers had an influence on the level of strawberry picking productivity.

Abstract	Price linkages between the Polish and foreign markets of grains and pork were investigated in the paper. The analysis indicates a decrease in price differences between the Polish and the EU markets and their increase between the Polish and the US markets. Causality tests and VAR models indicate a strong influence of foreign prices on the Polish markets.

Abstrakt	Artykuł dotyczy analizy przestrzennej ogólnego poziomu rolnictwa w Polsce oraz poziomu aktywności gospodarstw rolnych w zakresie pozyskiwania środków UE. Wyniki przedstawiono w formie średniej wartości znormalizowanej, a różnicę między nimi określono jako wskaźnik oddziaływania absorpcji funduszy UE na poziom rolnictwa. Przeprowadzona analiza wykazała, że pozytywne oddziaływanie środków UE na rolnictwo (poziom aktywności rolników był wyższy od poziomu rozwoju rolnictwa) szczególnie wyraźnie zaznacza się w województwach kujawskopomorskim, lubelskim, pomorskim i świętokrzyskim
Abstract	The article deals with a spatial analysis of the general condition of Polish agriculture and the level of farmers’ activity in obtaining subsidies from the EU funds. The results have been presented in the form of an average standardized value while the difference between them has been interpreted as an indicator of influence of the EU funds on the level of agricultural development. The analysis indicates that a positive influence of the EU funds on agriculture (farmers’ activity level exceeded the agricultural development level) was most conspicuous in the following voivodeships: Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Lublin, Pomeranian and Świętokrzyskie.

Abstrakt	W opracowaniu przedstawiono rozważania nad wpływem wprowadzenia instrumentu cross-compliance na konkurencyjność gospodarstw rolnych w Unii Europejskiej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sytuacji polskiej. Przeanalizowano znaczenie oraz wskazano słabości wprowadzanego systemu, a także alternatywy korzystnych przekształceń inspirowanych przez wprowadzenie cross-compliance. Analizy przeprowadzono na podstawie danych GUS, danych Urzędu Statystycznego Unii Europejskiej EUROSTAT oraz danych Agencji Restrukturyzacji i Modernizacji Rolnictwa (ARiMR).
Abstract	Considerations are presented over the cross-compliance principle influence for the agricultural farms competitiveness in the European Union, particularly with regard to the Polish position. Their meaning is anlysed and the existing weaknesses are indicated, as well as the beneficial transformations inspired by the cross-compliance requirements. The data were taken from the Central Statistical Office, the European Union Statistical Office EUROSTAT and the Agency for Agriculture Restructuring and Modernisation.
