Abstract	In the paper the analysis of the dependence between an amount of working capital (WC) for the unit of net profit (NP) and financial standing of agricultural enterprises is presented. The lowest level of this relationship did not guarantee a stable level of profitability of property, own capital and land use. Too high level of that relationship contributed to the increase of efficiency in this scope, but on the level lower than in enterprises with average relationship WC/NP. Only in enterprises with the highest relationship WC/NP maintenance of quick and current liquidity ratio was stated. Enterprises of the lowest relationship WC/NP were endangered with loss of financial liquidity and were characterized with the highest debt. The vindication of dues was the most efficient in enterprises with the highest relationship WC/NP. The working capital is fundamental source of the current activity financing, while too high level of it could be inefficient. Therefore it is a necessity of search its optimum in relationship to the profit, what transfers to the efficiency of use of land, labour and capital.

Abstract	In the paper relationship between method of consolidation of the Żywiec Group balance and its financial assessment in the scope of ratios of profitability, liquidity and efficiency was presented. Connections of mutual claims and liabilities in capital group were various as regards sums of settlement as well as terms of maturity. There were significant differences of value of property statement between consolidated breweries, where there were small differences of structure. Breweries differ as regards strategy of financing an activity. The complete method of consolidation doesn’t change financial assessment of the Żywiec Group, where there were significant changes as regards capital structure. Proportional method of consolidation cause similar links of property and capital relationships to complete method of consolidation. Used method of consolidation has insignificant impact on the level of profitability ratios of capital and assets. The liquidity of Żywiec Group, regardless the method of consolidation, was unchanged. The use of proportional method of consolidation caused improvement of efficiency ratios

Proponowana metoda, do budowy syntetycznego miernika generującego porządek w zbiorze obiektów, wykorzystuje zarówno pojęcie wzorca, jak i funkcji użyteczności. Podane w pracy postacie funkcji użyteczności mają tą własność, że dwa obiekty, które są jednakowo odległe względem metryki Euklidesa od obiektu maksymalnego oraz obiektu minimalnego, mają tą samą użyteczność. W pracy zamieszczony został przykład, który pokazuje, że obiekt uznany za najgorszy według jednego wzorca może być najlepszy według drugiego wzorca

The applied method uses comparative multidimensional analysis and conception of models, normalization, preference relations and utility functions as the preference indicators. Abstrakt	Poniższa praca prezentuje testy badające zasadność stosowania modelu wyceny aktywów kapitałowych CAPM w przypadku Giełdy Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie SA. Wykorzystano dwa podejścia do testowania modelu: tradycyjne (zaproponowane przez Fama i MacBeth) oraz warunkowe (zaproponowane przez Pettengill, Sundaram oraz Matur). Podejście warunkowe zawiera dodatkowo test średnio dodatnich nadwyżek rynkowych oraz test symetryczności zależności ryzyko – dochód w okresach dodatnich i ujemnych nadwyżek rynkowych. Weryfikację modelu przeprowadzono dla dziennych logarytmicznych stóp zwrotu z akcji 92 spółek notowanych na GPW w okresie styczeń 2000 – grudzień 2005
Abstract	This paper presents some tests of validity of CAPM using data from the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE). Two approaches are presented: the traditional approach (proposed by Fama and MacBeth) and conditional approach (proposed by Pettengill, Sundaram and Mathur). The conditional approach contains additionally two tests: first one, that the excess market returns are, on average, positive and second one – that the risk – return relationship is symmetrical between periods of positive and negative excess market returns. To test the assumptions of CAPM the daily log-returns of 92 stocks listed in the WSE for the period January 2000 to December 2005 are used in this study

Określono rentowność kapitału własnego i majątku, bieżącą i natychmiastową płynność finansową, sprawność zarządzania zapasami, należnościami oraz zobowiązaniami.
Abstract	The paper presents the analysis of THE relations between a working capital management strategy and a financial situation of dairy cooperatives. The cooperatives of a conservative strategy of working capital management had the highest level of equity, assets and leverage. A positive tendency of the factors changes was noticed in cooperatives of an aggressive strategy of working capital management. Receivables and liabilities management has been assessed positively as well. In the two initial years, the most effective ability to recover receivables was represented by these cooperatives, which carried a moderate strategy of working capital management. Afterwards, however, the cooperatives of an aggressive strategy of working capital management dominated. Moreover, they had the shortest period of liabilities discharge. The cooperatives of a conservative strategy of working capital management dominated in relation to liquidity. On the contrary, the cooperatives of an aggressive strategy of working capital management were at risk of loosing their liquidity, especially regarding the lowest level of inventory. Working capital management in dairy cooperatives is one of the most essential areas of financial deciding. Therefore, actions taken up in the area ought to keep liquidity and lead to optimize an amount and a structure of current assets.

Abstract	Agricultural production exhibits seasonal fluctuations, caused by both natural and economic factors. These in turn result in varying volumes of supply and subsequently the prices of agricultural products. In order to counteract these unfavourable phenomena, individual countries and their economic groups make various attempts to stabilise the agricultural product markets and farmer incomes. The paper presents the theoretical and practical results of milk quota trading in agricultural holdings. It discusses the problems of estimation of the value of milk quota, the relations between the demand and supply and milk quota prices on the market and determines the economical effects of milk quota transfer in dairy farms.

Abstract	The development of future contracts market can be divided into two stages. The first stage includes the period 1998-1999, when future contracts appeared and strengthen its position at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The second stage includes the period 2000-2004, when a dynamic development of future contracts occurred. In the first stage quotations of unconditional future contracts futures WIG20, futures USD, futures EURO were started, while in the second stage: futures Tech WIG, futures on shares and futures on MIDWIG. In the analyzed period the contract futures WIG20 was of great importance with the share of 98% in total turnovers on derivatives. The future contracts market is the fastest developing market on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. In 1998, the year of the debut, the value of turnovers of future contracts amounted to 1 % of spot market turnovers. In the next year this relationship amounted to 7%. In the end of 2000 turnovers of future contracts amounted to 17% of spot market turnovers. In the years 2001-2002 the value of turnovers of derivatives amounted to 119% of the value of spot market turnovers. In 2003 the dynamic development of future contracts was continued. Turnovers of future contracts amounted to 158% of spot market turnovers.

Abstract	The author suggests putting new index- - specialist identification successors. It is a quotient of number or participation of farms with the successors in the given specialization to number or participation farms with successors all in all - in the percentage expression. The research took place in the specialist milk farms of Central Macroregion in the years 1997-2001. The relationship between quantity of direct surplus from milk production in the farm and the index of specialist identification successors in milk production were observed in 2000. The bigger was this surplus, the bigger was the share of successors interested in continuation of milk production after talking over the farm. Moreover it was also observed, that the index of specialist identification successors increased with the increase of the number of cows in the farm. In the period 1997-2001 in the examined milk farms the quantity of the index of specialist identification successors was changing from 72.0% in the year 2001to79.2% in 2000.

Abstract	In the paper the analysis of the relationship between economic results and the level of the material outlays' concentration in private farms is presented. In general, farms with the highest level of the material outlays' concentration were characterized by the highest profitability of land, while in the group of the lowest level of those outlays the profitability was the lowest. In the case of the productivity of land relationships were similar to the case of its profitability. Social and economic efficiency of labour was higher in the group of farms with the highest level of material outlays, what shows that resources and labour outlays were used effectively. In general farms with an average level of material outlays were characterized by the highest profitability of sale, while farms with the highest outlays were characterized by the lowest profitability. It may show that the effectiveness of material outlays decrease with the growth by unit of the level of outlays. One of possible reasons for that tendency, in comparison with the highest profitability of land in the third group of farms, is using purchased materials for the broader scale, what makes farms independent on their resources of land.

Title	Bureaucracy and Country's Economic Growth

Abstract	The objective of this paper is to show that the type of state bureaucracy is a key determinant of the country' s economic growth. In its theoretical part, the paper reviews the scientific literature that addresses the impact of the state organisation and quality of governance on economic growth and development: In the second part, the author empirically examines a quantitative relationship between macroeconomic performance in Poland over the 1995-2002 period and such bureaucracy characteristics as employment in public administration, defence and compulsory social security as well as the average remunerations in this section. The findings indicate that the country's economic growth rate and its GDP per capita are directly correlated to the level of employment and wages in public administration sector. According to simple linear regression analysis, both an increase in the number of public bureaucrats and the level of their wages adversely affect the rate of economic growth.
