| Abstrakt | The scientific objective of the study was to identify consumption patterns in one-person households of never- married women and men, living independently. Ward’s grouping method make possible to establish the number of households’ clusters. The final stage of household grouping procedure, regarding consumption expenditures was accomplished with k-means clustering method. It can be concluded that distinguishing the consumption patterns for one-person households of never married is possible on the basis of diversification both level and structure of incomes in these households as well as socio-demographic differences between them. Depending on economic and socio-demographic variables, disparate consumption patterns for these types of households can be observed. In addition, it’s worth stressing that household having different level of income (although coming from similar source) but similar demographic structure show greater similarity than households having similar financial situation. |

| Abstrakt | The phenomenon of abandoning agricultural land is the same as discontinuing the agricultural use of certain agricultural land, the causes of which should be sought in environmental, economic and social factors. In the Podlaskie Voivodeship, agriculture plays a key role in economic life due to the significant number of lands classified as agricultural and century-old tradition of agriculture. The research assessed the existence of threats that could cause the problem of abandonment of agricultural land in the region and indicated the complexity of the land abandonment phenomenon. The study is based on opinions of advisers from the regional Agricultural Extension Service Centre. The results indicated that the process of ceasing to use agricultural land is the result of many factors that mutually influence and strengthen each other. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of the paper is to present a decomposition of unemployment in the rural population into the structural and cyclical components in groups distinguished based on their main source of household income. This study was conducted using the method estimating the level of natural unemployment (equilibrium unemployment) proposed by the Centre for Economic Policy Research (1995). The analysis was based on individual, unweighted, quarterly raw data provided by the Polish LFS (BAEL) from the years 2002–2009 and 2016. The professional situation of the rural population in the analysed period improved, which was manifested in an increase in the employment rate and a reduction of the actual unemployment rate. Between the periods of 2002–2005 and 2006–2009 actual unemployment ‘followed’ the lower values of equilibrium unemployment. In 2016 the actual unemployment rate was lower than in previous periods; however, an adverse change was observed for its relation to the natural unemployment rate. If we assume that it will – as previously – strive to attain the equilibrium level, in the case of a downturn on the market for goods and services the actual unemployment among the rural population may considerably increase, particularly in the group of individuals whose main source of income is provided by unemployment benefits and the family farm. |

| Abstrakt | The purpose of the paper was to present the importance of welfare farms in Poland as a social element of mutual relations, connections and co-operation in local and regional development. The concept of welfare farms is characterised in the study and the main idea of their formation is presented. Examples of welfare farms in Poland as part of the first pilot project known as ‘Zielona opieka – gospodarstwa opiekuńcze w woj. kujawsko-pomorskim’ (Green care: welfare farms in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship) have also been presented. It was also pointed out that social farming plays an increasingly important role in the contemporary development of rural areas. The paper was compiled using the desk research method and a classical analysis of documents was used. The choice of methods was determined by the availability of source materials, some of which were of primary or secondary nature (social farming literature, reports and public statistic documents). This paper also pointed to the fact that welfare farms are increasingly becoming a popular form of social service in rural areas. It also testifies to the entrepreneurship of farmers, because they offer not only accommodation and catering, but also care on their farms. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of this paper is to present changes in the role of EU countries, the USA and BRICS countries in international trade of goods and services and selected macroeconomic determinants of trade exchange in the analysed countries in the years 1960–2015 together with the projection of potential development of the situation until 2070. Investigated macroeconomic trade conditions included population size, GDP, GDP per capita and the inflation rate. Naive forecasting methods were used to estimate selected characteristics, as well as export and import volumes, considering their development trends. The analyses showed that currently, the largest global trade centres, i.e. the EU and the USA, are losing their share in global GDP. Their share in global exports and imports is decreasing to the advantage of BRICS countries. The simulation up to 2070 showed that the trends observed in previous years may be increasing, while the position of the EU and the USA in world trade may be weakening. |

| Abstrakt | Transport is a very important branch of the economy. It was quite well recognized in the case of industry services, however, there have been few studies on transport services provided in the agribusiness sector. This gap was filled by employees of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at WULS-SGGW. The subjects of interest were entities dealing in food processing. The study reviewed research and publications of the Faculty’s employees that were created in the 21st century. The majority of enterprises did not have a separate department dealing with transport. Apart from own transportation, small and micro enterprises also combined their own and external transport means. Forwarding services were used to a small extent in the shipping process organisation. The results of the research at WULS-SGGW and other studies were quite similar. |

| Abstrakt | A health care is characterised of creating an individual, specific relation between representatives of health care units and patients, which means that not only medical staff professionalism but also an empathetic attitude towards patients are important questions. Literature regarding the issue of communication with patients is growing, there are as well workshops in an effective communication, nevertheless the topic is still of minor importance. Meanwhile, relations between medical personnel and patients may put a major impact on the quality of health care as well as patients satisfaction with medical services, what is important from a management point of view. A proper way of patients’ treatment by medical personnel may result not only in better attitude towards therapy, but also it may influence a more efficient management of health care facilities, as patient satisfied with medical services may recommend an organisation, which may have a positive impact on an institution’s image, allowing a manager to focus on more important aspects of an institution management. For the above reasons it is important to get to know medical personnel’s attitude to developing as well as improving communication skills in order to provide a holistic patients care, what can significantly influence a health care units management. Medical staff communication skills are important not only from a treatment perspective, but they can also be significant from the perspective of health care organisations management. The study material was gathered in the first quarter of 2014. In the final analysis questionnaires from 113 representatives of various medical professions were taken into consideration. The study results show that in the process of medical professionals education there is only a little attention paid to acquiring communication skills regarding communication between a patient and medical personnel. Also, the hypothesis according to which medical personnel is satisfied with communication with patients was confirmed. Furthermore, medical staff agree in stating that they care for a proper communication with patients. Conclusions coming from the study results may define a specific way of health care units management, which should comprise, among others, financial resources for trainings in medical personnel soft skills improvement. |

| Abstrakt | In the article the essence and main characteristics of public and private goods are investigated, their main differences are revealed. Based on this, the main features of public goods were identified, including the nature of consumption, exclusivity of consumption, level of competition in providing services, exhaustiveness of services, level of social significance, etc. A comparative analysis of the peculiarities of funding for education at different levels (primary, secondary education, post-secondary/total tertiary education) and funding sources (public and private expenditures) has been conducted. It is substantiated that the basis for determining the optimal financial support structure for LLS development should be the level of compliance of educational services with the criteria for meeting public and private goods. On the basis of this, it was found that the ratio of budget and extrabudgetary funding for basic education services should be 90 to 10%; for vocational education services – 60–70% to 30–40%; and for services of additional education – 20–40% to 60–80%. |

| Abstrakt | The purpose of this paper is to assess the use of agricultural services in European Union countries in the context of selected features of agriculture. The Ward’s Method was used to isolate six typological clusters of European Union countries. It may be noticed that clusters with a high levels of fixed capital consumption and total intermediate consumption are characterized by a higher use of services than other clusters. The absence of a noticeable relation between the share of crop output in the structure of agricultural output, or between the labour input and the use of agricultural services can be explained by differences in natural conditions, traditional farming models and preferences in choosing between developing the farm’s own machinery or using services. |

| Abstrakt | The objective of this paper is to evaluate the customer service quality at the cooperative banks in Poland and to test the extent of the customer oriented approach of selling banking services based on the relational model. The customer service level at the cooperative banks was evaluated as low in comparison with the results achieved by the commercial banks. The principles of the relational model and the customer-oriented sales model were fulfilled in 36%. The analysis of the needs, using the feedback about the customer, the customer commitment and the effective sales were the least implemented. The highest level of implementation concerned the principles of comfortable customer service, the greeting and presentation of the offer. The selling efficiency is highly correlated with upholding the principles of a customer-oriented sales model. The study used the Mystery Shopper method. |

Following article consist short characteristic of activities connected with innovation issue. It was found that the number of entities conducting R&D activities increased four times, and thus the employment of people dealing with research and development would grow as well. Similarly, the expenditure of these entities on the implementation of innovations increased, which, however, depended to some extent on the availability of EU funds. Thereby, in the period of reduced access to EU programs supporting the conduct of R&D activity, the expenditure of entities on these activities also slightly decreased. |

This study presents the analysis of the evolution of the agritourism infrastructure and of the main tourism indicators for Romania as agritourism travel destination, emphasizing the importance of this sector in the development of the tourism industry. Quantitative and comparative analyses were carried out regarding the total number and the existing accommodation capacity for tourist boarding houses and agritourist boarding houses and the numerical evolution for domestic arrivals and international arrivals throughout the period between 2006 and 2016. In conclusion, Romania is an important agritourism destination, well known at national and international level for its natural and anthropic resources in rural areas. |

| Abstrakt | Celem opracowania jest charakterystyka źródeł zaopatrzenia lokali gastronomicznych w produkty nabiałowe z uwzględnieniem różnic ze względu na typ lokalu gastronomicznego, jego lokalizację oraz liczbę pracowników. Wyniki badań ilościowych zrealizowanych z menedżerami lokali gastronomicznych pokazują, że wybór źródła zaopatrzenia w te produkty jest zależny od typu placówki gastronomicznej. Restauracje mają największy udział zaopatrzenia w hurtowniach świadczących usługę dostawy zamówionego towaru do klienta i hurtowniach samoobsługowych. W barach duże znaczenie mają także zakupy u lokalnych sprzedawców. Dodatkowo wielkość przedsiębiorstwa i lokalizacja różnicują wybór źródła zaopatrzenia. Największe zróżnicowanie w wyborze źródła zaopatrzenia występuje ze względu na lokalizację przedsiębiorstwa gastronomicznego. Najczęstszymi dostawcami produktów nabiałowych do lokali gastronomicznych są lokalni dostawcy i hurtownie samoobsługowe Makro i Selgros. |
| Abstract | The purpose of the study is to characterize the sources of supply of catering establishments in dairy products due to the type of catering establishment, its location and the number of employees. The results of quantitative research conducted with catering establishments managers show that the source of supply depends on the type of catering establishment. In the case of restaurants the largest share of supply is wholesalers with delivery or self-service. In the case of bars it is also important to shop at local retailers. Also the size of the business and location differentiate the choice of source of supply. The greatest variation in the source of supply is due to the location of the catering company. The most frequent suppliers of dairy products to catering establishments are local suppliers and self-service wholesalers: Makro and Selgros. |

| Abstract | In this article the author derives a simple, indirect method to estimate a multi-channel influence of changes in excise tax on beer on state budget revenues in Poland, which uses publicly accessible statistical data. The channels included are changes of VAT, PIT, CIT and direct excise tax revenues of beer and substitutes (mainly vodka) paid by producers, retailers, wholesalers, gastronomy as well as of producers of raw materials, service and supplies providers for brewing beer. |

| Abstrakt | Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie regulacji prawnych, w których ujęto problematykę ochrony konsumentów na rynku wybranych usług oraz sposoby dochodzenia roszczeń przez konsumentów w przypadku naruszenia ich praw. W ramach badań dokonano analizy danych wtórnych, tj. aktów prawnych, sprawozdań wybranych podmiotów sektorowych (publicznych i niepublicznych) w zakresie pozasądowego rozwiązywania sporów między konsumentem a przedsiębiorcą, wynikających z zawartej z konsumentem umowy. Dokonane analizy wskazują, że nie zawsze przestrzegane są prawa konsumentów na rynku usług. Ponadto, pomimo zwiększającego się zainteresowania polubownym sposobem rozwiązywania sporów, nadal istnieje konieczność prowadzenia przez różne instytucje i organizacje działań informacyjno-edukacyjnych w tym zakresie. Przyczyni się to do wzrostu świadomości istnienia możliwości wykorzystania tego sposobu rozwiązywania sporów, zarówno wśród przedsiębiorców, jak i konsumentów. |
| Abstract | The purpose of this article is to present legal regulations which included the issues of consumer protection on the market of selected services and ways of pursuing claims by consumers in case of rights violation. The research consist of secondary data analysis i.e. legal acts, reports of selected sector entities (public and non-public) in terms of out-of-court dispute resolution between the consumer and the entrepreneur resulting from the contract concluded with the consumer. The results of the data analysis show that consumers’ rights are not always respected on the services market. Moreover, despite the growing interest in the amicable way of disputes resolving, there is still a need to carry out information and education activities in this area provided by various institutions and organizations. This will increase the awareness of existence the possibility of using this method of dispute resolution both among entrepreneurs and consumers. |

| Abstrakt | W opracowaniu autor podjął problematykę możliwości pozyskiwania dochodów na wsi z innych źródeł niż rolnictwo. Wskazał możliwe formy aktywności niszowej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem związanych z tworzeniem ośrodków pomocy społecznej. W związku z wydłużaniem życia ludzi oraz zmianą modelu życia rodzin (odejście od rodzin wielopokoleniowych) zainteresowanie miejscami w takich domach zwiększa się, a ich liczba rośnie. Około 40% takich obiektów istnieje na terenach wiejskich, stając się czynnikiem oddziałującym na sytuację społeczno-ekonomiczną gmin. Funkcjonowanie obiektów takich jak domy pomocy społecznej może przysporzyć terenom wiejskim wielu korzyści związanych ze sferą dochodową, poziomem zatrudnienia, wzrostem popytu na lokalne produkty i usługi czy też rozwojem infrastruktury oraz życia kulturalnego. Choć można spodziewać się pewnych negatywnych opinii związanych z przyjazdem „obcych”, to suma korzyści znacznie przeważa potencjalne zagrożenia. |
| Abstract | In the study the author took issues of the possibility of acquiring incomes in the country from alternative sources than the farming. He showed the niche activity possible forms, of social welfare centers with particular reference to connected with creating. In relation to extending the life of people and the change of the model of the life of families (peeling off from an extended families) an interest in places in such houses is increasing, and their number is increasing. About the 40% of such objects exists on the countryside, becoming a factor having an influence on a socioeconomic situation of communes. Functioning of such objects like care centers can cause the countryside many benefits associated with the income sphere, employments, with increase in demand for local products and services, or with development of infrastructure and of cultural life. It is possible to expect also certain negative opinions associated with the arrival of “strangers”. However the sum of the benefit much is outweighing potential hazards. |

| Abstrakt | Twitter oferuje bogaty zestaw narzędzi do budowy dialogu i interakcji z interesariuszem organizacji. Głównym celem badań była identyfikacja skali wykorzystania Twittera przez organizacje pożytku publicznego oraz ustalenie związku między wybranymi cechami organizacji pożytku publicznego, a częstotliwością wykorzystania w działalności tego serwisu mediów społecznościowych. Uzyskane rezultaty wskazują, że Twitter w polskich organizacjach pożytku publicznego ma znaczenie niewielkie. Badane organizacje cechuje duże zróżnicowanie pod względem aktywności publikacyjnej na Twitterze. Jednocześnie, organizacje aktywnie publikujące treści na Twitterze, również dużą aktywność przejawiają w wykorzystaniu innych serwisów social media. W celu identyfikacji związków pomiędzy analizowanymi zmiennymi wykorzystano analizę opartą na standardowych parametrach oraz badanie zależności wybranych zmiennych (test niezależności chi-kwadrat oraz współczynnik kontyngencji C). |
| Abstract | Twitter offers a opulent set of tools for building dialogue and interacting with an organization's stakeholder. The main objective of the research was to identify the scale of Twitter use by public benefit organizations and to establish a connection between selected features of public benefit organizations and the frequency of using social media in the operation of this service. The results indicate low importance of Twitter in Polish public benefit organizations. Nevertheless the surveyed organizations are characterized by large diversity in terms of their Twitter activity. At the same time, organizations actively publishing content on Twitter, also show great activity in the use of other social media services. In order to identify the relationships between the analyzed variables, an analysis based on standard parameters were used and also a study of the dependence of selected variables (chi-square independence test and coefficient of contingency C). |

| Abstrakt | The purpose of the research was to identify the volatilities of daily quotes of banks and financial services companies listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange in the six-year period ie 2011-2016. It was found that the volatility of the stock price of the eCard was the strongest correlated with BPH stock price volatility, while the volatility of KREDYTIN stock prices was strongly correlated with the volatility of BZ WBK shares, ING and PKO BP. The strongest correlation between the stock prices of banks and the surveyed financial services companies was on the day of their listing. Unlike banks, financial services companies are highly diversified. |
| Abstract | Celem badań było rozpoznanie zmienności dziennych notowań cen akcji banków oraz spółek z sektora usług finansowych notowanych na GPW w Warszawie w sześcioletnim okresie badawczym tj. w latach 2011-2016. Ustalono m.in., że zmienność notowań cen akcji spółki eCard najsilniej była skorelowana ze zmiennością cen akcji BPH, zmienność zaś cen akcji KREDYTIN najsilniej była skorelowana ze zmiennością cenami akcji BZ WBK, ING i PKO BP. Najsilniejsza związek między notowaniami cen akcji banków i badanych spółek usług finansowych występowała w dniu ich notowania. W przeciwieństwie do banków, przedsiębiorstwa sektora usług finansowych są silnie zróżnicowane. |
