Abstract	In the paper tendencies of changes of factors of production prices in agriculture, agricultural products in the span of 1995–2007 as well as changes of parity farm area. As the result of faster growth rate of factors of production costs than agricultural prices, there occurs permanent increase of parity farm area. It causes deterioration of farmer’s income situation in comparison with working in non-agricultural branches. The main cause of deepen differences in the income situations of farmers is low mobility of labour factor in agriculture as well as land factor. Changes of the area of agricultural farms in Poland in comparison with chosen European countries were also presented. Against a background of that the model of Polish agriculture was presented

The role of agricultural policy is still increasing and thus, expenditure on agriculture and rural areas is raising. The aim of the paper is to define the size and structure of financial support for agricultural in Poland in compared to other countries and especially European Union members, based on the indicators used by OECD. Changes in the level and structure of support for producers and consumers of agricultural products in Poland and other countries were analyzed paying attention to the effectiveness of different support instrument.

Abstrakt	Zaprezentowano wyniki badań sytuacji ekonomicznej gospodarstw specjalizujących się w produkcji mleka, w różnych scenariuszach cenowych. Analizowane gospodarstwa są położone na terenie województwa mazowieckiego i podlaskiego. W celu obliczenia przyszłej dochodowości przyjęto trzy warianty kształtowania się cen na produkty rolne, na środki do produkcji rolnej oraz poziomu wsparcia w ramach WPR. Przeprowadzone badania wskazują na to, że w większości badanych gospodarstw dochodowość będzie charakteryzować się niższym poziomem w 2013 roku w porównaniu z rokiem 2008. Taka sytuacja będzie miała miejsce niezależnie od przyjętego w badaniach scenariusza. Jedynym wyjątkiem będzie gospodarstwo posiadające stado o wielkości 65 krów, w którym w scenariuszu optymistycznym dochodowość będzie wyższa w ostatnim roku analizy o około 20% w stosunku do 2008 roku.
Abstract	The paper analyzes the dairy farms located in mazowieckie and podlaskie provinces, which were diverse according to surface and milk cows, and which had carried out from 12 to 65 dairy herd. In the calculations of future income there were accepted three scenarios of agricultural products, agricultural inputs and level of support of agricultural production under Common Agricultural Policy. The conducted analysis show that in majority of farms the farm income in the year 2013 will be characterize with lower level compared to the year 2008. This situation occurred independently from applied scenarios. The only except will be the farm possessing herd about size 65 cows, in which in optimistic scenario shows that the income in the year 2013 will be higher about 20% in relation to the year 2008.

Do najważniejszych z nich należą: rosnące ceny żywności w wyniku spadku zbiorów, rosnących cen nakładów na produkcję, działań spekulacyjnych, a przede wszystkim przeznaczania produktów żywnościowych, zamiast na wyżywienie, na produkcję biopaliw. Kryzys gospodarczy i związane z nim bezrobocie oraz malejące transfery środków pieniężnych od rodzin osób zatrudnionych w krajach uprzemysłowionych zwiększyły do 1020 mln liczbę osób niedożywionych w krajach rozwijających się.
Abstract	The paper aims to analyze the reasons of increasing malnutrition in the Word. To the most important one could include: increasing prices of food due to decrease of harvests, increasing prices of production inputs, speculations, and devoting agricultural products to non food purposes, esp. biofuels. The economic crises and associating unemployment as well as decreasing financial transfers from family members living in developed countries resulted in increase up to 1020 mln. of people the number of malnourished in developing countries.

Abstrakt	Wspólna Polityka Rolna Unii Europejskiej stwarza szanse dla terenów Polski Wschodniej przez popieranie zmiany orientacji rozwojowej z rolniczej na wielofunkcyjną. Takiemu rozwojowi powinien towarzyszyć wzrost krajowego PKB, pociągający za sobą wzrost konsumpcji. Zamożne społeczeństwo będzie bowiem zawsze poszukiwał zróżnicowanej i bezpiecznej żywności. Taka żywność jest produkowana w analizowanym regionie. Drugi kierunek rozwoju regionu wiązać się może z sytuacją, w której sprzedaż dóbr publicznych, takich jak naturalny krajobraz czy bioróżnorodność, zaczną przynosić przychody większe niż sprzedaż produktów rolnych. Taka sytuacja może wystąpić w niedługim czasie w Polsce Wschodniej.
Abstract	The EU Common Agricultural Policy creates great opportunities for the areas of Eastern Poland, mainly by means of promoting a change of its orientation towards the development of its multifunctionality. These processes must be accompanied by an increase of GDP stimulating an increase in consumption, because a wealthy society is always seeking safe, differentiated food and such food is produced by agriculture in the analyzed region. Such phenomenon may contribute to the development of small farms. Another trend of strategic development of agriculture in the region may rely on the prospects for situation in which the revenues from sales of public goods in form of a natural landscape and biodiversity values become comparable or exceed the revenues from sales of agricultural products. Such state of things in the region of Eastern Poland is possible in a short period of time.

Abstract	The paper presents changes in structure and area of sown of main agricultural products, including: cereals, industrial and fodder plants in the years 1996–2007. The author states, that cereals predominated in the structure of sown area and that decreasing tendency of sown area of potatoes occurred, what is the result of animal output intensification, mainly pigs. The decrease of sugar beets sown area was also observed, chiefly as a result of limited demand for sugar in recent years. The increase of sown area of industrial plants occurred, in particular rape and agrimony. The reason of that tendency is an increase of using rape and agrimony for technical purposes, mainly for biofuel production.

Wpływ na rozwój wymiany handlowej miała również rosnąca konkurencyjność polskich produktów rolno-żywnościowych na rynku światowym
Abstract	The aim of the work was to investigate how the Polish integration with the EU structures effected on the development of foreign trade, in particular in agricultural products. According to the analysis, Poland’s participation in trade agreements triggered agricultural trade creation and diversion effects. Moreover, the development of trade was caused also by the growing competitiveness of Polish agricultural products in the world market.

Raw agricultural products prices within the common market have become more equalized. Exchange rates are the most important variable influencing the performance of the agricultural sector. Economic growth and inflation have weak influence on the agricultural market.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The paper aims to evaluate whether or not the last EU enlargement to the new 10 member states (EUN-10) has influenced the intra EU trade of agricultural products. In particular, the analysis focuses on the effects on trade between two groups of countries EU-15 and EUN-8 (i.e. the Central-Eastern Europe new members countries) of the EU-accession process. The import-export flows show a noticeable increase in trade between the two areas over the last decade. This increase surely stems from the opening up process, but according to second best theory in international trade which applies to Customs Unions – it not necessarily favours efficiency as far as social welfare is concerned. The analysis shows also that the comparative advantages in certain products, which ten years ago fuelled trade, do not appear to have altered the position of the two groups of countries. Focusing on agricultural products the integration process, which was already underway during the pre-accession period, has maintained and not reduced their specific specialization.

Abstract	The GATT agreement was the first to include agriculture and to cover both border protection and domestic and export subsidies for agricultural products. The round completed successfully in 1994. The subsequent Doha or Development round aimed at furthering progress launched in GATT has not been so successful. This paper explores why the Doha round has been difficult and why it now appears there will not be a meaningful agreement. Developing countries are much more numerous today in WTO, and they insist on an agreement to better their situation. Agricultural subsidies are still a major impasse between rich and poor countries. The absence of the industrial sector to balance agriculture also is an impediment. Furthermore, bilateral and regional agreements have made much more progress and provide many of the gains that might eventually come from a multilateral agreement. Recent work has concluded that domestic reforms are key to achieving the gains of any trade agreement, and they will be essential for Poland to capture the gains from EU membership

Abstract	The purpose of this study is to provide evidence on the relationships between prices of some agricultural products in Poland, Germany and France. The study is based on monthly price series of wheat, barley and milk. Findings show an existence of causal relationships between investigated markets, especially wheat markets. Results for the period 1995-2000 generally tend to show a lower degree of price transmission compared to the period 2001-2005, as might be expected.

Abstrakt	Opisane są obroty i wskazane główne bariery w handlu artykułami rolniczymi z krajami Bliskiego, Środkowego i Dalekiego Wschodu oraz karajami Europy Wschodniej.
Abstract	The author deals with Polish foreign trade in agricultural products with the East (Eastern Europe, Middle and Far East). Polish exports in the last two years have increased. The analysis starts with presentation of exports to the so-called Community of Independent States (Russia and former Soviet Republics). Recent barriers in exports to Russia and Ukraine are indicated. A general picture of trade with Middle and Far East Countries is presented and the main constraints in trade are listed.

Abstrakt	Podwyższenie wymogów w konkurencji na światowym rynku rolno-spożywczym zwiększa wagę problemu oceny międzynarodowej konkurencyjności sektoru rolnego Ukrainy oraz jej regionów. Aktualny problem oceny możliwości eksportu ukraińskich produktów rolniczo-spożywczych na rynki światowe jest przedstawiony poprzez obliczenia indeksów relatywnych przewag komparatywnych RCA (Relative Comparative Advantage Index) oraz RSCA, który stanowi symetryczną transformację RCA i pozwala określić perspektywiczne rynki zbytu regionalnych prodyktów spożywczych. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono stosunkom z Polską
Abstract	In order to evaluate the competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural products in world agri-food markets, indices RCA (Relative Comparative Advantage Index) and RSCA were calculated for products coming from the Zhytomir province in Ukraine. The perspectives of Ukrainian accession to the EU with respect to the agricultural sector and particularly the trade relations with Poland also were investigated
