Abstrakt	Praca zawiera wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych w województwie pomorskim po pierwszym roku członkostwa Polski w Unii Europejskiej. Gospodarstwa, które zostały uwzględnione w badaniach, były zróżnicowane pod względem wielkości: od 1,5 ha do około 150 ha UR. Rolnicy województwa pomorskiego, korzystający z bezpośrednich dopłat do gruntów rolnych, przeznaczyli je przede wszystkim na bieżącą działalność rolniczą (73% wszystkich badanych). Zapytani o decyzje związane ze zmianą profilu produkcji po przystąpieniu Polski do Unii Europejskiej w większości odpowiedzieli, że zamierzają pozostać przy obecnym rodzaju produkcji (82%). Na uwagę zasługuje fakt, iż respondenci posiadający wykształcenie wyższe rolnicze osiągnęli prawie dwukrotnie większe dochody (2 118,17 zł z 1 ha UR) niż średnio, zaś ci bez wykształcenia (średnio 167,35 zł z 1 ha UR) zaledwie 14% średniej kwoty dochodów uzyskiwanych przez ankietowane gospodarstwa. Obostrzenia jakościowe dotyczące sprzedaży płodów rolnych nie wpłynęły zasadniczo na zmniejszenie dochodów badanych rolników (70%)
Abstract	The study contains the results of questionnaire surveys conducted in the Pomeranian province after the first year of Polish membership in the European Union. The inspected farms varied in size, from 1.5 ha to 150 ha of agricultural land. Farmers of the Pomeranian province, being asked about the decisions related to the change of production profile after the EU accession, in most cases (82%) responded that they are going to continue the current type of agricultural production. Respondents in most cases (70%) did not indicate that quality barriers caused a reduction of their products sales. A majority (73%) of the examined beneficiaries of direct subsidies to agricultural lands used these funds for the current agricultural activity. Respondents with higher agricultural education made almost a twice higher income (2 118.17 PLN/hectare) than the average. Farmers without education received on average only just 167.35 PLN per 1 ha, which constitutes only 14% of the average amount achieved by the surveyed farms

Abstrakt	Po integracji Polski z Unią Europejską zaznaczył się niezwykle szybki wzrost obrotów handlu zagranicznego produktami rolno-spożywczymi, zarówno eksportu, jak i importu. Rozwój wymiany handlowej szczególnie dotyczył krajów UE, w tym nowych państw członkowskich. W latach 2003-2010 eksport produktów rolno-spożywczych do krajów UE-12 wzrósł o blisko 365%, a import z tych krajów o 213%. W efekcie saldo obrotów handlowych produktami rolno-spożywczymi z krajami UE-12 zwiększyło się prawie sześciokrotnie. Dane te świadczą o konkurencyjności polskich producentów żywności na rynku krajów UE-12. Ocenę tę potwierdza analiza wybranych wskaźników konkurencyjności, tj. wskaźnika ujawnionych przewag komparatywnych w eksporcie Balassy (RCA) i wskaźnika Lafaya (LFI), a także wysoka intensywność handlu wewnątrzgałęziowego, mierzona wskaźnikiem Grubela i Lloyda (GL). Polskie produkty rolno-spożywcze postrzegane są jako dobre i relatywnie niedrogie, tj. charakteryzują się wysoką jakością, bezpieczeństwem zdrowotnym i walorami smakowymi, a jednocześnie są atrakcyjne cenowo dla zagranicznych konsumentów
Abstract	After the Polish integration with the European Union has an extremely rapid growth of foreign trade in agro-food products been revealed, both in exports and imports. The trade development related mainly to the EU countries, including the new member states. In the period 2003-2010 agrofood exports to the EU-12 countries increased by almost 365%, while imports from those countries rose by 213%. As a result, the trade balance in agro-food products to the EU-12 has increased almost six-time. These figures indicate a competitiveness of Polish food producers in the EU-12 market. This assessment is confirmed by an analysis of selected indicators of competitiveness, i.e. the Balass indicator of revealed comparative advantages in exports (RCA) and the Lafay index (LFI), and the high intensity of intra-industry trade, measured by the Grubel and Lloyd index (GL). Polish agro-food products are perceived as good and relatively inexpensive, i.e. characterized by high quality, health safety and flavor values, at the same time they are affordable to foreign consumers

Abstrakt	Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie problematyki procesów koncentracji ziemi i intensyfikacji upraw w rolnictwie konwencjonalnym na stan środowiska naturalnego w regionie zachodniopomorskim. Wynikiem pracy badawczej jest ukazanie, że nasilający się w ostatnich latach w regionie zachodniopomorskim proces koncentracji ziemi uprawnej, polegający na powstawaniu średnich i dużych gospodarstw rolnych przejmujących ziemię po byłych PGR-ach lub gospodarstwach indywidualnych wycofujących się z produkcji rolniczej, jest konsekwencją procesów koncentracji własności ziemi mających wymiar globalny. Procesy te wystąpiły już wcześniej w krajach rozwiniętych Europy Zachodniej i na świecie. Wraz z procesami własności koncentracji ziemi następują jednocześnie procesy intensyfikacji produkcji rolniczej, charakteryzujące się coraz większym zużyciem środków ochrony roślin w uprawie zbóż, środków farmakologicznych w hodowli zwierząt oraz coraz większym udziałem organizmów genetycznie modyfikowanych w innych uprawach np. warzywniczych. Powiększanie areałów monokulturowych upraw: rzepaku i zbóż, brak stosowania płodozmianów, zaorywanie miedz, likwidacja zadrzewień śródpolnych czy nadmierna melioracja negatywnie wpływają na zachowanie bioróżnorodności biologicznej oraz na stan środowiska naturalnego w regionie zachodniopomorskim
Abstract	Aim of this paper is to present the processes of land ownership concentration and intensification of cultivation in conventional agriculture on the environment in the West Pomeranian region. The result of research work is to show that the land ownership concentration process, escalating in recent years in the West Pomeranian region and involving the formation of larger farms acquiring land from the former state farms or farms which withdraw from the agricultural production is a consequence of these processes of a global dimension. These processes have already occurred in the developed countries of Western Europe and the remaining world. Along with the processes of land concentration occur simultaneously the processes of intensification in agricultural production, with increased consumption of plant protection products in cereals growing, pharmaceuticals in animal husbandry and with increasing participation of GMOs in other crops such as vegetables. Zooming areas of monoculture, like oilseed rape and cereals, lack of crop rotation, plowing in balks between fields, liquidation or mid-field tree belts and excessive drainage adversely affect the state of biological biodiversity and the environment in the West Pomeranian region

Abstract	The Common Agriculture Policy’s Fruit Scheme and School Milk Program are EU-wide institutional attempts to encourage consumption of selected food products among children by increasing their availability in schools. The number of pupils participating in both schemes in Poland has reached more than 67% and 38% of the appropriate target groups. Pilot studies, carried out in 2010 and 2011, indicate what products are most preferred by Polish schoolchildren from among those made available to them through the schemes. Circa 86% of the surveyed children living in cities would like to obtain more milk products in schools, especially yogurts. In order to make both CAP schemes more nutrition-oriented the education component should be strengthened since the availability and the price are important, but not exclusive determinants of food choice

Abstract	The aim of the article was to present the premises and evolution of protectionism in agricultural trade and to show the changes in significance of tariff and non-tariff barriers of intervention for the trade in agricultural products. The abolition of customs duties entails an increase in the number and the role of non-tariff barriers in trade policy applied by individual countries. The factors determining the degree of intensity in the use of protective instruments include the level of GDP per capita. In the agri-food sector, an intensified protectionism can be observed along with an increased degree of economic development. In spite of the fact that richer countries declare their support for free trade, they take intense actions to protect their domestic production from the competitive imports and are unwilling to abandon this policy, which can be observed e.g. in prolonged negotiations on further liberalisation of world agricultural trade in the WTO forum.

Abstract	The awareness of animal welfare and animal well-being is growing all over Europe and the world. The concerns are related to the applied policy regimes, economic sustainability of the production methods, food quality and safety, consumers’ health and behaviour and their willingness to pay for animal products obtained in animal-friendly conditions. The paper aims to analyse the consumers’ awareness and its effect on consumers’ purchasing behaviour in Bulgaria. The data were collected under the WELANIMAL project, based on a questionnaire. Later a statistical analysis was done. At the end it is concluded that consumers still need to be educated and there are opportunities to enhance their awareness of animal welfare standards through marketing actions

Abstract	There’s a strong link between the production of biofuels and energy crops. The first of these activities may contribute to the appearance of new products in agriculture, besides giving a boost to activities such as provision of services and aiding in the diversification of economic activities in rural areas. Farmers’ final decision to include energy crops into or exclude them from their productive alternatives depends on various factors of a different nature (political, legal, technical, economic or socio-cultural). This paper analyzes the socio-economic aspects related to the introduction of oil-seeds (sunflower and rape seed) as energy crops in one of the most important agricultural regions in Spain (Castile and Leon). Thus, using RRA (Rural Rapid Appraisal) and the Economic Accounts for Agriculture (EAA), the study provides an evaluation of the main economic accounts of these crops and an idea of their profitability, impact on the level of employment and environmental consequences

Abstrakt	W artykule przeanalizowano zmiany w światowym handlu artykułami rolno-spożywczymi w latach 2000-2009. Szczególną uwagę położono na określenie nowych tendencji, powstałych po 2004 roku wskutek rozszerzenia Unii Europejskiej o nowe państwa członkowskie. Do analizy wykorzystano dane z bazy Comtrade/UN oraz Eurostatu, przy użyciu klasyfikacji HS2 (kody 01-24).
Abstract	The article examines changes in the global trade in agri-food products in 2000-2009. Particular attention was placed on identifying new trends, created after 2004, due to the enlargement of the European Union with the new member states. For the analysis data from the Comtrade database / UN and the Eurostat, using the HS classification (codes from 01 to 24), were used.

Abstrakt	W Polsce po 1993 roku obserwowano dynamiczny rozwój produkcji ogrodniczej pod osłonami. Równocześnie obawiano się o jej przyszłość po zniesieniu barier celnych w wyniku akcesji do Unii Europejskiej. W pracy podjęto próbę zweryfikowania tych obaw. Przeprowadzono badania zmian w powierzchni upraw ogrodniczych pod osłonami w Polsce w latach 2000-2009. Analizowano kierunek i dynamikę zmian całkowitego areału pod osłonami oraz areału upraw warzywniczych i kwiaciarskich, w tym kwiatów ciętych, a także strukturę upraw według grup roślin i typów osłon oraz zróżnicowanie regionalne. Badania wykazały, iż przystąpienie do Unii Europejskiej nie miało istotnego wpływu na naszą produkcję pod osłonami. Od 2003 roku powierzchnia upraw warzyw jest na stabilnym poziomie, a powierzchnia upraw kwiaciarskich wykazuje niewielką tendencję rosnącą. Odnotowano zmiany w strukturze produkcji w poszczególnych województwach.
Abstract	A high rate of development of horticultural production under cover was observed in Poland since 1993. However, economists were anxious about its future after our integration with the UE and the abolishment of tariff walls. The aim of the study was to verify those opinions. The changes in the horticultural acreage under cover in Poland during the years 2000-2009 have been investigated. The tendency and dynamics of changes in the area under cover and their structure according to group of plants, cover types and regions of Poland have been analysed. It was found that our integration with the UE had no influence on our greenhouse production sector. Since 2003, the acreage under vegetable cultivation is stable and that under floriculture production shows a gradual increase. Changes in the production structure in particular provinces were noticed

Abstract	The dairy market In the EU is regulated by the Common Market Organization for milk and milk products. This policy is influencing together with changes in the Common Agricultural Policy. Within the Health Check the European Commission proposed a milk quota abolition, which will come into force from the year 2015. This paper presents a scenario analysis of milk quota abolition and the influence on production, price and demand on farm gate milk, butter and skimmed milk powder. Analysis was divided on two groups EU-15 and ten countries whose accession to EU in the year 2004. Special case was made for Germany, France, Great Britain and Poland as the largest milk producers in the EU. Conclusions fl owing from analysis show decline of real milk farm gate price to the year 2020, about 20% in the comparison with the average from the period 2003–2005. The supply of milk will increase with simultaneous decline of butter production and skimmed milk powder. Unfortunately the majority of unfavorable changes will in the group of countries UE-10

Abstract	The article describes the phase of the audit of the HACCP system, together with Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Hygiene Practice, as well as highlighted the importance of verification of systems to ensure food safety for the quality of the health-produced food products in restaurants. Presenting the phase of preparation for internal audit of the HACCP system for restaurants, identifying the areas to which the auditor should read and consider before proceeding to the verification process, on-site catering. The proper preparation of the audit allows for quick and efficient conduct of the process, and above all to prevent the omission of material misstatement.

The results show that after the accession the price volatility decreased. Lower values of price volatility indexes in Poland after the accession tend to decrease the price risk of production decisions.

Title	Foreign trade with vegetables and their products in Poland and the European Union in the years 2002–2008

Abstract	Foreign trade pays an important role in the development of both world and Polish economy. In the years 2002–2008 Poland reported negative balance of foreign trade of all kinds of products, while since 2003 the balance of trade with agricultural products was positive. In the structure of Polish export of agricultural products in the year 2008, fruits and vegetables paid a dominant role (ca. 20% of total export). In the years 2002–2008 the European Union was the net importer of all kinds of vegetables and vegetable products. Since the year 2004 when 10 New Member States accessed to the UE, the enlarged Community was the net importer of fresh tomatos, onions, peppers, courgettes, legumes and sweet corn. As the processed vegetables are concerned the EU net imported frozen vegetables, canned and dry tomatos. The positive trade balance was reported for canned vegetables and tomato puree. As the trade between Poland and other Member States is concerned, Poland reports positive balance of both fresh and processed vegetables. In the years 2002–2008 in Poland dominated positive and growing foreign trade balance with fresh vegetables and their products. It was possible thanks to positive foreign trade balance of processed vegetables, because the balance of trade with fresh vegetables was negative. Main exporting countries of Polish vegetables and their products were Holland, Germany and United Kingdom. Poland imported such products mostly from the UE, especially from Spain and Holland.
