Abstrakt	The article aims at presenting factors that determine the effectiveness of managing production resources in ecological farms of different size. Within the examined groups of diverse sized ecological farms, the technical infrastructure of land resources and the saturation of land with materials as well as the input of human labour per agricultural land acreage were clearly showing a decrease proportional to the increase in farm size, which was connected with the organization of production in the farms under examination. The organization of production in those groups of farms, the effectiveness of their production and the prices of organic products in the analysed years were reflected in the structure of the value of production of particular farm groups. Fruit and vegetables had a clearly higher and preponderant share in the value of plant production in 20-hectare farms, which mainly determined higher productivity of land and capital resources as well as profitability of smaller farms’ land resources.

Due to the nature of the food supply chains, especially to a temporal imbalance of supply and demand, quality requirements and exchange of quality information an important issue in the context of increasing the efficiency of agri-food companies may be raising the level of cooperation within in the chains.

Abstrakt	In this paper the basic concepts of modern economics concerned with the market, market structures and the effectiveness of market functioning are presented. Definitions of the market were characterized on the basis of theoretical concepts. Classification of the types of market structures was proposed and the preconditions for the improvement of effectiveness of particular brand markets were stated. The market constitutes basic institution of market economy and so the rules of its functioning should be perfected. Historically, economic thought presented the market of agrifood products as an ideal of perfect competition. Currently, due to the processes of concentration on the demand side, agricultural markets function within the structure of imperfect competition (oligopsonistic).

Abstrakt	Difficult economic situation in developing countries is a result of a number of factors. Among others, low level of technique and technology, lack of skilled labor force or poor infrastructure. It should be noted, that many of these countries are based on natural economy, with dominating employment in agriculture; consequently, there is very shallow market for industrial goods. Taking into account the role of agriculture in these countries, it is not only industrial development, but mainly agricultural development and modernization that are crucial for making their situation better. Processes of globalization and regional integration, currently observed in the world economy, are favorable conditions for this purpose. The intensification of international trade accompanying these trends strongly influences the level of benefits achieved and the position of each country in the international division of labor. Unfortunately, despite the fact that the developed countries preach the ideas of liberalization of world agricultural trade, in fact they protect the market.

Abstract	This paper presents assessment of selected middle-sized meat plants, basing on a set of financial ratios. These were: ROA, ROE, ROS, current ratio, quick ratio, total debt ratio and debt structure. It was difficult to develop a clear and objective evaluation of meat plants based on such combination of indexes. Therefore these enterprises were also evaluated using the Hołda’s model. Basing on this model, the possibility of enterprise failure could be predicted. Among four evaluated meat plants, only one was close to be bankruptcy in the assessed period.

Abstract	The changes in the size and geographical structure of cut roses production in the world as well as in EU foreign trade have been studied. The direction and dynamics of cut roses imports and exports and trade balance have been analyzed. The main focus was to determine the geographic structure of EU trade, identifying the largest EU exporters and importers, export destinations and countries of import origin. The prices of imported cut roses according to origin have been analyzed as well. The study shows that the roses production in EU, also in Poland, is not competitive comparing to cheaper flowers from Africa. Growing demand will be satisfied by growing imports.

Abstract	The paper discusses the spatial distribution of rural communes in Mazovia region according to the tourism function index. The tourism function index consists of 8 variables, which characterize tourism development in three areas: tourist attendance, tourist infrastructure and tourist entrepreneurship. Further the natural breaks classification have been made in order to divide the communes into 4 categories. Finally, the statistical relation between tourism function index and some of the multifunctional development indicators have been analysed.

Abstrakt	We współczesnej gospodarce coraz częściej obserwuje się wykorzystywanie integracji pionowej i poziomej jako sposobów na wzrost i rozwój w długim okresie. Strategia ta stosowana jest także przez polskie firmy. Zjawisko to występuje w sektorze mięsnym – w segmencie mięsa czerwonego i drobiowego. Jako przykład skuteczności wykorzystywania pionowych więzi integracyjnych można podać rynek indyków i działającą na nim Grupę Kapitałową Indykpol S.A. Celem opracowania jest wykazanie, że integracja pionowa doprowadziła do uzyskania przez tą firmę pozycji lidera na rynku przetwórstwa indyczego. W opracowaniu przedstawiono historię powstania i ewolucję struktury GK Indykpol S.A. oraz jej zakres działalności. Na podstawie danych finansowych tego podmiotu za lata 2001-2011 wykazano, że przyjęta strategia okazała się właściwym sposobem na wzrost i rozwój w długim okresie.
Abstract	The article discusses the strategy of vertical integration in production and poultry processing in Poland. The Capital Group Indykpol was used as the example of the effectiveness of such action. The paper presents the history and evolution of the structure of the Group and its scope of activity. Hereinafter, chosen financial data of this subject between 2001 and 2011, were presented. It allowed to demonstrate, that the company strategy of vertical integration, accepted at the end of 1990s by Indykpol, turned out to be the right way for the growth and the development in the long term.

Abstrakt	W pracy badano kierunek i dynamikę zmian cen warzyw otrzymywanych przez producentów na rynku hurtowym w Polsce, zmienność tych cen i sezonowość, a także układ między cenami poszczególnych warzyw. Analizowano również kierunek i dynamikę zmian cen wybranych środków produkcji i płac w rolnictwie, a także relacje tych cen do cen warzyw w postaci ekwiwalentów naturalnych. Przy generalnej tendencji wzrostowej cen okazało się, że w najgorszej sytuacji byli producenci kapusty głowiastej i ogórków szklarniowych, których ceny rosły wolniej niż ceny wszystkich czynników produkcji, w najlepszej zaś producenci pietruszki i ogórków gruntowych, których ceny rosły wolniej jedynie od cen nawozów sztucznych. Większą sezonowość cen odnotowuje się w przypadku warzyw uprawianych całkowicie lub częściowo pod osłonami, choć uległa ona nieznacznemu zmniejszeniu.
Abstract	In this study, the direction and dynamics of changes in prices received by producers in the wholesale market of vegetables in Poland, their variability and seasonality, and price structure between the vegetables have been examined. The direction and dynamics of changes in prices of selected means of production and wages in agriculture, and the relationship of those prices to the prices of vegetables in the form of natural equivalents have been analyzed as well. With the general upward trend in prices, the worst situation concerned producers of cabbages and cucumbers from greenhouses, whose prices increased more slowly than the prices of all production factors. The producers of parsley and cucumbers cultivated in the open ground, found themselves in the best situation. Their prices grew slower only than the prices of fertilizers. Greater seasonality of prices has been found in the case of vegetables grown completely or partially under cover, although it has decreased slightly. There was no reduction in the price seasonality of vegetables grown in the open.

Abstrakt	W artykule podjęto problematykę przemian zachodzących w trójsektorowej strukturze osób pracujących w Polsce z podziałem na województwa. Zgodnie z teorią trzech sektorów w procesie rozwoju gospodarczego zmniejsza się odsetek pracujących w sektorze rolniczym, a wzrasta udział pracujących w sektorze usług. Stwierdzono, że bezpośrednio po uzyskaniu przez Polskę członkostwa w Unii Europejskiej prawidłowość ta nie występowała w niektórych województwach. Dotyczyło to zwłaszcza obszarów, gdzie udział sektora rolniczego w strukturze osób pracujących jest wysoki.
Abstract	The main aim of the article was to examine the changes in the three-sector structure of employees with regard to regions. According to the three-sector hypothesis, economic development results in the decrease of importance of the primary sector and systematic increase of importance in the service sector. It was stated that in the period succeeding Polish accession to the European Union such regularity didn’t occur in a few voivodeships. It concerns above all the areas where the percentage of employees in the agricultural sector is high.

Abstrakt	W opracowaniu przedstawiono zmiany poziomu i struktury kredytów oraz depozytów rolników w monetarnych instytucjach finansowych w okresie 1996-2012 w Polsce. Wartość zarówno kredytów, jak i depozytów rolników zwiększyła się wraz z napływem dofinansowania z Unii Europejskiej. W strukturze kredytów rolników dominują kredyty inwestycyjne, natomiast w strukturze depozytów największy jest udział depozytów bieżących.
Abstract	In the paper, an analysis of the use of the deposit and loan market by farmers in Poland is presented. Changes in structure and level of farmer loans and deposits in monetary financial institutions in the span of 1996-2012 are presented. The value of loans as well as deposits of farmers has increased in conjunction with the inflow of financing from the European Union. In the structure of farmer loans, investment loans predominate whilst in the deposit structure the share of current deposits is the largest.

Abstrakt	Przemiany strukturalne w sektorze gospodarstw rolniczych postępują we wszyst­kich krajach Unii Europejskiej (UE). Liczba gospodarstw zmniejsza się, a średnia powierzchnia stale się zwiększa. Jednak zarówno tempo tych przemian, jak i obecna struktura gospodarstw są bardzo zróżnicowane. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie zmian zachodzących w ostatnich latach w wybranych krajach UE w strukturze rolnictwa rozumianej jako struktura obszarowa gospodarstw oraz stopnia zaawansowania procesu tychże przemian na tle zmian podstawowych wskaźników charakteryzujących stan rozwoju gospodarczego. W artykule podjęto też próbę wskazania najkorzystniejszego kierunku przemian z punktu widzenia polskiego rolnictwa. Wyniki badań wskazują na istotne rozbieżności między tempem, poziomem zaawansowania i kierunkiem przemian strukturalnych sektora gospodarstw rolniczych w analizowanych krajach europejskich. Na podstawie badań wysunięto wniosek, że model przemian strukturalnych zmierzający w kierunku spolaryzowanej struktury obszarowej gospodarstw rolniczych może być adekwatny do polskich warunków.
Abstract	is decreasing while their average area is increasing. However, the rate of those changes and present farm structure is very diversified across Europe. The main aim of this paper is to present the changes in this subject and advancement in structural changes in agriculture against changes of main economic indicators in chosen European countries. Finally the authors attempt to indicate the optimal direction of structural changes in Polish agriculture. The direction, rate and advancement of structural changes in agriculture differ among selected European countries. Authors support the idea of applying a model of structural changes in Poland, leading to a polarized structure of farms.

Abstrakt	Program przygotowań do przeprowadzenia w Polsce Mistrzostw Europy w piłce nożnej w 2012 r. jest od kilku lat strategicznym przedsięwzięciem. Na proces ten składają się dwa zasadnicze zagadnienia: przygotowanie infrastruktury warunkującej przeprowadzenie turnieju oraz stworzenie odpowiedniej organizacji pozwalającej na maksymalnie sprawne przeprowadzenie tak dużej i długiej imprezy masowej. Należy podkreślić, że wszystkie elementy przygotowań do turnieju wymagają zastosowania możliwie nowoczesnych i wydajnych metod zarządzania. Efektywna realizacja zadań w aspekcie organizacyjnym w tym przypadku nie będzie jednorazowym działaniem w sytuacji awaryjnej, czy też nadzwyczajnej. Zmiana kulturowa (jeśli się dokona) może oznaczać, że polskie instytucje funkcjonują skutecznie w nowoczesnym środowisku zarządczym.
Abstract	The preparations for the conduct of the European Championships in Poland in football in 2012 is the strategic project for several years. This process consists of two fundamental issues: preparation of the infrastructure to carry out the tournament and conditioning the development of an appropriate organization which allows for up to the efficient conduct of such a large and long mass event. It should be emphasized that all elements of preparation for the tournament possibly require modern and efficient management methods. Efficient implementation of tasks in terms of their organization, in this case is not one-off in an emergency situation or emergency. Cultural change (if made?) may mean that Polish institutions function effectively in the modern managerial environment.

Abstract	The European Commission has adopted draft legislative packages which will frame European policies for a new financial perspective of 2014-2020. Among them, European Commission introduced a new instrument called Common Strategic Framework to reinforce horizontal and vertical coordination between policies, including policies for rural development The aim of the article was to discuss the evolution of the structure of EU funds supporting rural development and the architecture of Common Strategic Framework and its impact on programming of the second pillar of the Common Agricultural Policy.

Abstrakt	Na mocy Traktatu Rzymskiego ustanowiona została Wspólna Polityka Rolna (WPR). W Traktacie określone zostały jej cele i zasady. W trakcie tworzenia WPR dokonano jej podziału na: politykę rynkową i strukturalną. Źródłami finansowania tej polityki były fundusze: EFOGR, EFS i EFRR. W wyniku konsekwentnie prowadzonej WPR poprawie uległa w EWG struktura agrarna, zmalało zatrudnienie w rolnictwie, wzrosła produkcja rolna i jej intensywność, zapewniona została także samowystarczalność EWG w zakresie większości artykułów żywnościowych. Wraz jednak ze wzrostem produkcji rolnej powiększały się w magazynach zapasy, których eksport warunkowany był wydatkowaniem z budżetu EWG coraz większych kwot na subsydia. W konsekwencji w szybkim tempie zaczęły wzrastać wydatki z budżetu na finansowanie tej polityki. Niezbędna stała się reforma WPR, którą wdrożono w 1986 roku. Wprowadzone modyfikacje WPR nie przyniosły jednak spodziewanych rezultatów. Od tego czasu polityka ta była jeszcze kilkakrotnie reformowana.
Abstract	The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) has been enacted by the Treaty of Rome, which defined its objectives and principles. During its drafting process the CAP was divided into market policy and structural policy. The sources of funding of the CAP were three Funds: European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF), European Social Fund (ESF) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). As a result of consistent implementation of the CAP, the agrarian structure markedly improved, the volume of agricultural output substantially increased, allowing the EEC to attain self-sufficiency in most agricultural products, while improving the intensity of farming and reducing the employment in agriculture. However, the growing volume of the agricultural output resulted in mounting surplus of certain agricultural products, whose export depended on ever-increasing subsidies from the EEC budget. Consequently, the expenditures for financing the CAP from the budget started to increase rapidly. This necessitated the reform of the CAP, which was implemented in 1986. Since then, this policy has undergone a few reforms.

W oparciu o dane statystyczne prezentujące wyniki podmiotów gospodarczych prowadzących działalność na rynku żywności dokonano analizy zmian przychodów ze sprzedaży i wartości dodanej. Przeprowadzono również szczegółową analizę zmian struktury dochodów osiąganych w kanałach dystrybucji żywności.
Abstract	This paper presents the adaptation of enterprises operating in the food marketing channels to changing macroeconomic conditions. Based on the statistical data showing the results of economic entities operating in the food market the analysis of changes in sales and value added. Also carried out a detailed analysis of changes in the structure of income earned in the food distribution channels.

Abstract	The paper presents results of research carried out under the grant titled. he conditions of life and work of women in rural areas. The study was conducted in the Mazowieckie Province. Klembów, a rural commune, is one of the entities where the study was carried out. The commune has been evolving and seeking to overcome barriers of local development. The commune focuses on the development of core activities and key tasks concerning improvement of road, social and technical infrastructure. Year by year proportion of people using the water supply, sewage and gas has been increasing. It can be concluded that in the future this part of the technical infrastructure will be the biggest investment of an infrastructure. Investments carried out by Klembów also contribute to attractiveness of the commune in terms of investment or tourism. Development of technical infrastructure improves the competitiveness of the commune and leads to improving the standard of life of its community.
