Wyniki pokazują, że szkolenia powinny być bardzo specjalistyczne, a szkolenia wieloaspektowe być przeznaczone dla pracujących w tej dziedzinie albo dla specjalistów w wąskiej dziedzinie.
Abstract	Vocational training is a very important aspect of contemporary work. There is actually a necessity of competence development during the whole life time. That is why there is a wide range of possibilities to improve employees’ skills and knowledge. One of them was created by an international team of trainers from five European educational institutions developed within a project RURALpro. In order to get an indication of the demand for training which can be met by such a course, research in adult educational institutions in those five countries was conducted. The main conclusion from this research is that there is a real necessity to train people in sustainable development, but they usually need very specialized programs. A holistic approach can be appropriate for people who have already started working in this area or are specialists in a narrower field.

Abstrakt	Ocenę sytuacji ekonomicznej prowadzono w gospodarstwach, w których dominującym kierunkiem była produkcja mleka. Do badań wykorzystano dane z gospodarstw prowadzących rachunkowość rolną w 2003 roku z terenu całego kraju. Analizowane gospodarstwa podzielono na sześć grup w zależności od poziomu zadłużenia, mierzonego wskaźnikiem zadłużenia (całkowite zadłużenie do kapitału ogółem).
Abstract	The subject master of the studies there were farms specialized in milk production (type 411 milk cows according to the European Union’s classification, in which the influence of the level of borrowings on income of a farm and efficiency of production, assets and own capital were analyzed. Comparisons made in groups of different level of borrowings measured with a liability ratio (total borrowings to the capital expressed in%. The following groups of farms were established: up to 10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40, 40-50, 50 and more percent of borrowings. The conducted studies showed, that both with the increase of borrowings, and the production and incomes of examined farms increase for about 70 up to 80%. However, the increase of borrowings results in a quicker increase of efficiency of own capital than the increase of production and incomes. The efficiency of the capital in a group of farms of borrowings higher than 50% was 2,5 times higher than in a group of farms of the lowest borrowings (below 10% and amounted to 21,91%). The efficiency of the own capital in a group of farms of the lowest scale of production, considerably exceeds interest rate of bonds of long-term investments. It shows, that running farms of an appropriate scale of production is efficient and may ensure good remuneration of own work, return on the invested capital and performance bonus for taking the risk of running a farm. It also results from the studies, that the purchase of the basic and rotary stock shortly before accession to the EU was the basic direction of investing at dairy farms.

Abstrakt	W opracowaniu dokonano oceny dużych polskich gospodarstw specjalizujących się w produkcji mleka na tle gospodarstw z wybranych krajów europejskich. Do obliczeń wykorzystano model EDF, służący do porównań wyników ekonomicznych gospodarstw biorących udział w analizach sporządzanych na potrzeby Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Producentów Mleka. Badaniami objęto gospodarstwa mleczne o liczbie krów powyżej 150 z wybranych krajów Europy. Na bazie danych EDF dokonano także analizy mocnych i słabych stron trzech polskich gospodarstw mlecznych PL-18, PL-60, PL-20 z liczbą krów odpowiednio 501, 900, 1770. Przeprowadzona analiza wskazuje na dobrą pozycję konkurencyjną dużych polskich gospodarstw specjalizujących się w produkcji mleka, głównie dzięki niskim kosztom produkcji, rosnącej cenie mleka, a także wysokiemu poziomowi dochodu uzyskanego z prowadzenia tej działalności.
Abstract	The aim of this article is estimation of large polish farms specialized in milk production in comparison with the selected EU farms. The estimation prepared on the basis of EDF (European Dairy Farmers) model, which compare economic results of European farms within the EDF. In the article the results of the research of large (over 150 cows) farms from the EU. On the basis on EDF data the analysis of Strong and Weak Points of 3 big polish dairy farms was prepared. The results of the analysis showed a good condition of polish large dairy farms due to the low cost of milk production, rising milk price and relatively high income.

Zastosowana metodologia pozwoliła na jednoczesne porównanie uzyskanych wyników z rezultatami gospodarstw z pozostałych krajów Europy będących czołowymi producentami mleka. W pracy porównano produkcyjne i ekonomiczne wyniki gospodarstw oraz wyniki przeciętne w grupach gospodarstw z wybranych krajów należących do EDF.
Abstract	The article consists of two parts. In the first part comparison of the results of 29 Polish dairy farms were shown, in addition whole population for three group were divided, in condition of the size dairy herd. In the second part average results of chosen country (belonging to European Dairy Farmers) are presented. Analysis of the cost of production indicates the increasing trend together with the grow of dairy herd. In comparison with other country, polish farmers had the lowest costs of milk production and reached positive entreprenour’s profit.

Abstrakt	W opracowaniu przedstawiono problem oddziaływania systemu kwot mlecznych na zmiany w strukturze produkcji mleka, proces koncentracji, a także na poziom cen skupu w Unii Europejskiej. Stwierdzono, że wprowadzenie systemu kwot mlecznych istotnie spowolniło zmiany w strukturze gospodarstw oraz tempo koncentrowania się produkcji mleka. Siła oddziaływania limitów sprzedaży mleka zależy m in. od zasad zarządzania systemem kwot w poszczególnych krajach członkowskich oraz szczególnie w pierwszych latach kwotowania, od wielkości ograniczenia produkcji mleka przez kwoty. Ponadto stwierdzono, że administracyjne ograniczenie podaży mleka na rynku spowodowało wzrost cen skupu mleka oraz zerwanie zależności ich wzrostu od poziomu ceny kierunkowej oraz kosztów produkcji, co charakterystyczne było w okresie poprzedzającym wprowadzenie systemu kwot w UE.
Abstract	The problem of the milk quota system influencing on the EU dairy market has been analysed in that article. Especially changes in the milk production structure, rate of the concentration process and a level of the milk prices has been taken into account. As it was concluded, milk quotas, limiting the market milk deliveries and creating barriers for the farm development, significantly affected farm structural changes and slowed down foregoing rate of the concentration process in the researched countries. The effects caused by the milk quotas depend strongly on the particular rules of the system management, especially in the beginning years, on the milk production cut caused by the introduced limits. It was concluded also that milk quota system implemented in 1984 was one of the most important factors supporting growth of the milk prices until 1989 and sustaining them on the rather stable level after intervention reforms in 1988/89 and Mac Sharry Reforms in 1992. Milk quotas had broken down very significantly and there was a strong positive correlation (until 1984) between an increase of the target price of milk and the milk purchase price but also between milk price and dairy production costs.

Abstract	The article presents the results of public opinion poll about purchase habit. The data covering the period from 1998 to 2004, showing the changes of a liking for shopping. Consumer’s behavior is close to be European standard. The dissertation shows main economic factor of shopping decision. The shopping preferences are linked to household income, which influence also the food consumption level. Inadequate financial means cause the changes of consumer’s habits. Customers show most interest in those shops which compete with others via attractive prices. The main reasons of the choice of main shopping outlet are: low prices, high quality of products, proximity to home, pleasant staff, attractiveness of offered goods, habit, business hours, plus promotions and sales.

Abstract	In Central and Eastern Europe societies had problems in self-organising and creating civil virtues during transformation period. Polish citizens are still reluctant to join organisations, it is observed especially in rural areas. However it is people inhabiting rural areas who organize informally most often. This paper presents case studies of four villages in Podlasie region, in which citizens organized protests against closing their children’s primary schools. The analysis concerns group activeness before these protests, forms of the protests themselves, and activeness of the citizens after the decisions concerning the schools were taken by local authorities. It is concluded that willingness to associate and taking proper measures by citizens results among others from earlier experience in self-organising. Sometimes developing social activeness of local communities requires external help (such as mediation) or support of local authorities

Abstract	Food safety and quality are main issues in food economics. The first part of this paper deals with food quality in Poland before and after the process of integration with the EU. The conducted analysis have confirmed the improvement of Polish food quality. The sanitary conditions of Polish processing plants have also improved. But the concentration of nitrates is still very high in some vegetable products. The second part contains an analysis of the Polish exports and imports and their changes in the economic transition process. Wheat imports were higher than exports. In addition to this, the survey proved that Poland is self-sufficient in food production and food safety has improved in the transition period

Abstrakt
Abstract	The paper aims to evaluate whether or not the last EU enlargement to the new 10 member states (EUN-10) has influenced the intra EU trade of agricultural products. In particular, the analysis focuses on the effects on trade between two groups of countries EU-15 and EUN-8 (i.e. the Central-Eastern Europe new members countries) of the EU-accession process. The import-export flows show a noticeable increase in trade between the two areas over the last decade. This increase surely stems from the opening up process, but according to second best theory in international trade which applies to Customs Unions – it not necessarily favours efficiency as far as social welfare is concerned. The analysis shows also that the comparative advantages in certain products, which ten years ago fuelled trade, do not appear to have altered the position of the two groups of countries. Focusing on agricultural products the integration process, which was already underway during the pre-accession period, has maintained and not reduced their specific specialization.

The authors analyze situation in meat production in the Republic of Belarus and give their opinion thereupon. The present conditions are unfavourable and the volume of meat production is falling. It is necessary for the government to assist meat producers.

Abstrakt
Abstract	Poland is the largest producer of apples in Europe. Statistical analysis of data concerning harvests, yields, age and varieties of apple trees shows the Polish leader position. Visible changes in the new apple orchards are responding to the preferences of modern consumers. Russia and the European Union are main recipients of Polish apples. Though consumer apples are dominating in the structure of sales, also industrial apples and apple concentrate will be supplementing Polish exports abroad in the near future.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The aim of this paper was to analyse the changes in apple production and apple growing area in Poland and in the other big producing countries in the EU. Furthermore, future prospects for apple production in Poland were presented. Apple production and orchard area in Poland have increased for the last 10 years in contrast to the EU main producers. There are changes in the selection of apple varieties produced in Poland and an increase of production of the varieties popular in the EU. The growth of apple production in Poland is connected with establishing producer organizations.
