Abstract	The paper presents results of studies on costs and profitability of milk production in various diets of dairy cows. For the three farms specialized in milk production, were developed two variants of feeding cows on the basis of hay silage produced on the farm. One scenario assumes maintenance of current milk yield of dairy cows and use of concentrates. The second eliminated concentrates from the feed and assumes a reduction of milk yield of cows. The analysis included the costs and profitability of milk production in farms.

Abstract	The article presents the results of researches based on interviews among farm with milk production about possibilities and barriers of this production in Malopolska region. Detailed analyzing were the barriers and opportunities, including: barriers of location and economic. The study shows also deficiencies that hinder the most milk production, and the opportunities that may be used by farmers to production. The article contains information about the changes that the respondents intended to introduce on their farms in the coming years. The findings were presented to the division of farms into groups depending on the number of dairy cows in the herd.

Abstract	The dairy market In the EU is regulated by the Common Market Organization for milk and milk products. This policy is influencing together with changes in the Common Agricultural Policy. Within the Health Check the European Commission proposed a milk quota abolition, which will come into force from the year 2015. This paper presents a scenario analysis of milk quota abolition and the influence on production, price and demand on farm gate milk, butter and skimmed milk powder. Analysis was divided on two groups EU-15 and ten countries whose accession to EU in the year 2004. Special case was made for Germany, France, Great Britain and Poland as the largest milk producers in the EU. Conclusions fl owing from analysis show decline of real milk farm gate price to the year 2020, about 20% in the comparison with the average from the period 2003–2005. The supply of milk will increase with simultaneous decline of butter production and skimmed milk powder. Unfortunately the majority of unfavorable changes will in the group of countries UE-10

Presenting the phase of preparation for internal audit of the HACCP system for restaurants, identifying the areas to which the auditor should read and consider before proceeding to the verification process, on-site catering. The proper preparation of the audit allows for quick and efficient conduct of the process, and above all to prevent the omission of material misstatement.

Abstract	The paper aims to evaluate the usefulness of discriminatory models in the process of running a company. In the work there was verified the efficiency of action of 23 functions estimated in Polish research centers. One based on the financial information coming from the financial statements of six stock quoted companies. The companies had to cope with the bankruptcy crisis in the 2009. Moreover, on the basis of the results of the conducted analysis, there were specified factors determining the appropriate choice of the model to the prediction of the enterprise’s bankruptcy. There was also presented a ranking of tested models with the annual, two, and three-year forecast.

Abstract	Measurements of descriptive statistics were used to examine changes in fixed assets and their sets of groups in agriculture in the period 2004–2008. Studies confirmed an increased rate of renewal of fixed assets, especially mobile sets of groups of these assets in agriculture after entering the UE. Technical progress expressed as an increase of the share of the gross value of the set of group of machines, technical devices and tools and the set of group of means of transport in the total gross value of fixed assets increased only by 2 per cent. Moreover, one could notice changes in the directions of reproduction of particular sets of groups of fixed assets.

Abstrakt	Celem pracy jest znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie, na ile wspólna polityka rolna dąży do osiągnięcia optymalności na poziomie mikro i makroekonomicznym, przy jednoczesnym uwzględnieniu kryteriów społecznych i środowiskowych. Autorzy chcą zwrócić uwagę na problem „błędu złożenia” mechanizmów WPR, czyli sprzeczności w dążeniu do zrównoważenia sektora rolnego. Z przeprowadzonej oceny instrumentarium unijnej polityki rolnej wynika, że osiągniecie optimum równocześnie w trzech płaszczyznach (ekonomicznej, społecznej i środowiskowej) jest niemożliwe, można tylko dążyć do zmniejszenia rozbieżności. W artykule wykazano, że część rozwiązań WPR nie jest wolna od klasycznego błędu złożenia, chociaż kolejne reformy polityki rolnej zmierzają w kierunku jego ograniczenia.
Abstract	The aim of the study is to find the answer to the question of how the Common Agricultural Policy aims to achieve optimality at the micro and macro levels, while taking into account social and environmental criteria. The authors wish to draw attention to the problem of ‘composition error’ in the mechanisms of CAP, or contradictions in the pursuit of sustainability in agricultural sector. The achievement by the EU agricultural policy instruments of an optimum simultaneously in three dimensions (economic, social and environmental) is impossible, one can only strive to reduce discrepancies between them. The article shows that a part of solutions in CAP is not free from a classical ‘compostion error’, although consecutive reforms of agricultural policy head towards its limitation.

Abstrakt
Abstract	This paper investigates the possible development of Ukrainian agriculture in terms of creation of a free trade area (FTA) with the European Union. Prospects for export-import relations between Ukraine and the EU as well as the competitiveness of domestic agricultural goods in domestic and foreign markets are analyzed. An economic-mathematical model was used for determining negative and positive consequences of the FTA formation for grain, dairy and meat industries. It is expected that the current positive Ukrainian trade balance in agri-food products will decrease significantly as a result of the trade liberalization. The analysis also shows possible changes in the gross domestic product, trade, level of economic activity, human welfare etc. Suggestions how to avoid the negative effects of the FTA on agricultural markets in Ukraine have been developed.

Abstract	The aim of the paper was to assess the competitive position of the most important producers of plant raw materials in the intra-EU trade in 2004 and 2008. The analysis covered such product groups as cereals, oil seeds, fruit and vegetable. The competitiveness was assessed with the use of a selected set of quantitative measures of international competitive position. Moreover, the shares of the studied countries in the EU trade were assessed as well as the relative intensity of plant raw materials export from each country.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The article offers a territorial analysis of funds acquired by Polish agricultural holdings in the years 2004-2006 via direct payments and through participation in measures of the Rural Development Programme and the Sectoral Operational Programme ‘Restructuring and Modernisation of the Food Sector and Rural Development’. The analysis was based on the data on subsidies obtained in individual spatial units (voivodeship, poviat) as expressed by two indices: PLN per farm and PLN per hectare of agricultural land. It was found that owing to the structure of payments with a predominance of area payments, those areas were preferred that had a favourable farm-size structure and a high, historically developed level of farming. Such an allocation of the EU subsidies had contributed very little to the levelling out of structural differences in Polish farming.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The paper reviews the institutional structure or strategic framework, the Wine Industry Transformation Charter and Scorecard, adopted on 31 July 2007, through which good governance and social responsibility programmes are fostered, implemented and monitored in the South African wine industry. In other words, the paper outlines how the wine industry seeks to foster social change through integrated socioeconomic support structures, as based on the Wine Industry Plan (WIP). The wine charter and scorecard components are a representation of good governance in the industry, whereas the social capital development approach is the focus of social responsibility programmes in the wine industry. The seven components of the wine transformation charter are: (i) ownership, (ii) management/control, (iii) employment equity, (iv) skills development, (v) enterprise development, (vi) preferential procurement, and (vii) rural development, land reform and poverty alleviation. Five areas that constitute the programmes of social responsibility are: (i) the responsible alcohol use, (ii) rural development and poverty alleviation, (iii) security of tenure, (iv) land, and (v) sectoral determination. The implications for the agri-food sector and conclusions are provided.

Developing international knowledge is the foremost management challenge in the emerging global market place. The aim of this paper is to introduce the ‘Star Analysis’ as a method for applying this knowledge to obtain international competitive advantage. The results have been developed by the research project MSM 6215648904 ‘The Czech Economy in the Process of Integration and Globalisation, and the Development of Agricultural Sector and the Sector of Services under the New Conditions of the Integrated European Market’ of Mendel University in Brno, Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies.
