Abstract	The monetary policy of central bank influences the cost of money and determines the amount of credit incurred by households. The article presents the impact of National Bank of Poland’s interest rate on household’s liabilities. Theoretical analysis comes to a conclusion that an increase of interest rate will cause the decrease of household’s liabilities. The paper shows research’s results on the basis of data collected in the period of 2003–2011. Relationship between monetary policy and household’s liabilities was presented with reference to long-term and short-term debt.

Abstract	The paper is an attempt to analyze the shape of consumption of fruit and vegetable in Polish households. The analysis bases on the GUS (Central Statistical Office in Poland) data concerning individual Polish household budgets. Fruit and vegetable consumption in Poland is still small and amounts at 3.59 kg of fruit per capita per month and at 10.51 kg of vegetables, including 5.27 kg of potatoes. Apples are by far the most commonly eaten fruits – 1.25 kg per capita per month. The growing interest in tropical and southern fruits has been observed. Research results indicate, that preferences for fruits and vegetables differ between the socio- economic groups.

Abstract	The work presents an analysis of blackcurrant harvest time, profitability and cultivation profitability threshold when harvest was performed manually or mechanically by means of a tractor-mounted or self-propelled harvester. It has been demonstrated that mechanical harvest reduces both the harvest time and production costs as a result of which the cultivation becomes profitable. The minimum area under blackcurrant, which generates profit, is 0.39 ha for a tractor-mounted harvester and 0.35 ha for a self-propelled harvester.

Abstract	The aim of the paper is to classify districts of Małopolskie Voivodship with respect to the quality of live of the inhabitants. In order to do this the synthetic variable was constructed with the usage of Hellwig method; the diagnostic variables constituting the basis for this construction were such as the average income in given district, the level of unemployment, average area of flat and number of beds in hospitals per 10 thousand inhabitants. The analysis was based on the GUS data from 2009. As the result of the classification four groups of districts similar with respect to the quality of life were obtained.

Abstract	A discussion was made with regard to issues related to the visualization of data concerning agricultural producer groups and their concentration in Poland. Analysis was carried out with regard to differentiation of agricultural producer groups across provinces, and with regard to their profiles, which shows that the largest number of agricultural producer groups have been established in the provinces of Wielkopolska, Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Silesia. Most agricultural producer groups focus on the production of cereals, pigs and poultry, and the most common legal form for the groups is limited liability company.

Abstract	An analysis of price changes at particular levels of main agri-food markets, namely cereal market, dairy market and meat market, implies that price shifts that occurred over the period of 2004–2011 were favourable for agriculture. Polish accession to the EU triggered increase in retail food prices. Despite considerable short-term fluctuation there were no substantial changes in the share of producers, processors and traders in retail prices of food. Price mechanism assured efficient price transmission between particular stages of food markets which after price shocks recovered to previous proportions of particular margins resulting from long-term equilibrium.

Abstract	The aim of the paper is to present food situation and assess the range of food security in the European Union countries. The analysis was conducted both at national and at the household level. It was proved that nationally, in all EU countries minimum daily energy requirement was met with a surplus, but at the microeconomic level, difficulties in ensuring food security appeared in almost 9% of households in the EU-27 and even 20% of households in the EU-12. The prevalence of food insecurity varied depending on the size of the household.

Abstract	The paper presents an analysis of the process of shaping European Union legislation on GMO’s. Describes impact on the legislative process by the most important of the EU institutions: the Commission, the Council and the European Parliament as well as by various lobbing groups. The complexity and partial openness of the Union’s legislative process introduced in Lisbon Treaty was seen as an opportunity for consulting various Union’s social groups. As demonstrated in the work, existing system allows organized groups to delay substantially or even reject proposed changes in the EU legislation, important from the point of maintaining the global competitiveness of the European Union.

Abstract	The purpose of this article was to examine whether differences in the structure of consumption expenditures of Polish households are caused by different levels of citizens’ wealth. The analysis showed that the shape of these structures are highly influenced by the values of equivalent households’ income. Incomes received by the poorest households are more often spent on basic needs than in the case of wealthy ones.

Abstract	The aim of the paper is formulated by describing three research tasks: a) the identification of income sources of households in Poland, and their structure, with particular emphasis on income from individual farms in the years 1996– –2010; b) the analysis of the Middle Pomerania households structure – by sources of income; c) the evaluation of the agricultural income significance in household income of Middle Pomerania. The main source of households’ income in Poland was the hired labor, social security and social assistance benefits. Agricultural activity of farms is essential in realizing of the productively farms’ function in Poland. Different situation is in the region of Middle Pomerania. Households whose main source of income are pensions determine the largest percentage of the reference population (the greater extent in the Koszalin subregion than in the Slupsk subregion), followed by a household whose main income was wage labor, then farming. During the analyzed period the household income of farmers increased, but these entities are still the socio-economic group, which achieves some of the lowest income. Therefore, the households of farmers looking for alternative sources of income, or a completely abandon the agricultural business, which is confirmed by the decreasing number of farms in Poland.

Ratio analysis has been carried out, which indicates a good financial situation of the enterprise. The company’s financial situation has been studied by means of measures of liquidity and efficiency, as well as inventory and receivables conversion cycles. The company has also been analyzed in the direction of ROS and ROA. The final element of financial analysis study was to identify sources of business financing.

Abstract	The paper presents a preliminary method of ICT value analysis. The aim of this paper was to identify all ICT value sources, areas within which the economic role of ICT increases. The author finds that the main areas of independent, holistic ICT value growth are institutions, technologies, implementation, accessibility, affordability, know-how and actual use of ICT’s. They constitute a system, which is called ICT ecosystem or ICT value growth chain. The development of the ICT ecosystem is complete and sustainable (balanced), when it is carried out simultaneously within all of its areas. Each area produces some value, but it is not, technically speaking, the added value, represented collectively by the equivalent of “market price” good in the classic production chain, but the absolute value assessed from the perspective of its role in the economy. The presented structure provides the basis for presentation and analysis of multidimensional development of ICTs and its role in the economic growth.

Abstract	Risks are connected to each economy action. Risks in financial markets are mainly important because their occurring can evolve losses or gains. Precise instruments should be used in risk management process to minimize possibilities of occurring losses. In banking sector credit risk play a major role in loan activity. The aim of an article is to indicate an importance of credit risk management in aspect of monitoring of quality of granted loans. An examination is based on analysis of quality of credit portfolio as a share of threat loans in credit portfolio of banking sector in Poland. Results shown an increasing share of bad loans in following years in each group of borrowers with special progress in group of households loans.

Abstract	Commercial banks, the activity of which is based on economic criteria, are an important element of a financial system. Functioning of these entities as institutions of public trust, is associated with the occurrence of different risk forms, among which credit risk considered as one of the major threats for current and future bank’s activity, is primary. Despite of continuous changes present within banking sector, consisting in improving the techniques and methods of risk recognition and evaluation, there is a need to distinguish the manners for reducing the individual banking risk. It cannot be eliminated, but only influenced on its level due to efficient policies being a reflection of the solutions applied. Therefore, the aim of the present paper is to analyze the ways of reducing the individual banking risk (taking into considerations the credit risk) and to recognize all factors having some impact on its level.

Abstract	The elaboration presents forecast for financial risk of selected agribusiness firms in the świętokrzyskie Province. Two models were used to predict corporate bankruptcy: a model M. Hamrol, B. Czajka and M. Piechocki, and A. Hołda model. The data based on financial statements placed in the Polish B Monitor of selected companies of the agribusiness calculated rates which served the post of discriminatory chosen models for calculating the value stayed. Enterprises were provided with examinations: Bakery at the Telegraph Roman Smolarski in Kielce, Plant Fruit and Vegetable Industry Dwikozy S.A. in Dwikozy, AGROMA Kielce Ltd. z o.o. in Kielce, Department of Fruit Processing Ltd. SAMBOR in Samborcu, Plant Grain-Milling ROC S.A. in Kielce, Kielce Brewery Co. Ltd. in Kielce, EKOPLON S.A. in Grabkach Large, Horticultural Wholesale Market in Sandomierz S.A. in Sandomierz, Department of Poultry-Cold store imports and exports in Jędrzejów Stanisław Bik. The study covered years 2005– –2010, while in the case of a brewery in Kielce from 2004 to 2009 in Kielce. This enterprise was liquidated by the management board of the Brewing Company in September 2009. In the examination they used the comparative analysis which was exploited for verifying two models for the early stage of warning before the bankruptcy.

Abstract	The objective of the study was to assess the financial condition of a selected group of agricultural enterprises by the early warning model, which takes into account the specify of the agricultural sector. The study examines plant and animal for this study breeding companies owned by Agricultural Property Agency were selected. The analysis covered the years 2008–2010. The results showed that the end of the period, almost half surveyed companies were in poor financial condition. The biggest financial risk was noted in the companies of horse breeding. In 2010 almost two third of the companies obtained a value of early warning model substantially below the border point. The best financial condition was characterised by the company’s animal husbandry. The average index value YSHO during the period was above 4.0. Carried out the analysis indicated agricultural enterprises located in the best and the weakest financial condition. Companies in which the indicator YSHO signals financial risk should undergo a thorough ratio analysis to identify the critical areas of activity and determine the corrective action.
