Abstrakt	This paper deals with the agricultural production contracts, concerning deliveries of raw materials for the agri-food industry. The mutual relations between its parties – such as producer and contractor – may take many different forms. These contracts are perceived as an accomplishment of vertical integration, as they connect two stages of a production process. Their role in agri-business is growing. Thanks to the contracts the constant supply of agricultural products to the manufacturers is guaranteed, while – on another hand – the farmers are able to sell their products on previously agreed terms. Agricultural production contracts significantly reduce the uncertainty of both parties. Moreover, they enable quicker and safer adaptation to altering economic conditions.

Abstrakt	In this paper the basic concepts of modern economics concerned with the market, market structures and the effectiveness of market functioning are presented. Definitions of the market were characterized on the basis of theoretical concepts. Classification of the types of market structures was proposed and the preconditions for the improvement of effectiveness of particular brand markets were stated. The market constitutes basic institution of market economy and so the rules of its functioning should be perfected. Historically, economic thought presented the market of agrifood products as an ideal of perfect competition. Currently, due to the processes of concentration on the demand side, agricultural markets function within the structure of imperfect competition (oligopsonistic).

Abstrakt	Between 2003 and 2012, there was a reduction in the catch of the main species of fish. The main reason for this was the reduction of the fishing fleet. Additional factors, especially in the case of cod, included: inappropriate management of individual catch quotas, decrease in fishing profitability, and the obsolete, fragmented and non-modernized fishing fleet. An increase in the catch of the main species of fish, for which the resources actually allow, might result from improvements in the management of individual catch quotas, a closer cooperation between ship owners and the processing industry (with a view to increasing and stabilizing purchase prices) and modernization of the fishing fleet. Additionally, the catch quotas for cod could be used more efficiently if some of the herring-fishing units were redirected to fish for cod. This would additionally reduce the pressure on fishing for herring which has been a heavily exploited species in the recent years.

Abstrakt	The process of modernization of agriculture under the Common Agricultural Policy has in view, among other things, the creation of economically stable and competitive farms. The aim of this paper is to verify the thesis that Poland’s membership in the European Union, implying a change in agricultural conditions, has resulted in diminishing the differences between farms. As a measure of diversification, confidence intervals for expected values were adopted. To assess the degree of differentiation in the farms’ development, the following criteria were applied: economic size of farms, net value added per a full-time employee, value of production, subsidies for operations. The number of farms over 16 ESU decreased, whilst the number of farms below the 8ESU increased. The research into farms, categorized by economic size, revealed increased diversity in terms of economic size and net value added per person. The production value showed decreased diversification of such agricultural activities as permanent crops and grain-fed animals.

Abstrakt	Difficult economic situation in developing countries is a result of a number of factors. Among others, low level of technique and technology, lack of skilled labor force or poor infrastructure. It should be noted, that many of these countries are based on natural economy, with dominating employment in agriculture; consequently, there is very shallow market for industrial goods. Taking into account the role of agriculture in these countries, it is not only industrial development, but mainly agricultural development and modernization that are crucial for making their situation better. Processes of globalization and regional integration, currently observed in the world economy, are favorable conditions for this purpose. The intensification of international trade accompanying these trends strongly influences the level of benefits achieved and the position of each country in the international division of labor. Unfortunately, despite the fact that the developed countries preach the ideas of liberalization of world agricultural trade, in fact they protect the market.

Title	Capital expenditure in the Polish food industry from 2000 to 2011

Abstrakt	The main goal of this study was to present and assess the volume of capital expenditure in the Polish food industry from 2000 to 2011. The study was prepared on the basis of reference publications and unpublished statistics of the Central Statistical Office concerning investments and fixed assets according to the branches of the food industry. The analysis was based on measures of the dynamics of phenomena. In order to assess the investment activity a simple investment rate was used. As results from the research, capital expenditure increased in the Polish food industry from 2000 to 2011. Integration with the European Union considerably influenced the investment growth. In the period under analysis the highest mean investment rate was observed in the fishing, meat processing and dairy sectors. The investment activity was limited in 2009, which was a consequence of the world crisis.

Abstrakt	In the article the opinions of managers of agribusiness joint-stock companies on the possibilities of working capital management policy improvement were presented. With the help of questionnaire the opinions on current working capital policy, its goals and barriers in its forming were defined. According to the managers the main barriers in working capital management included higher priority for other goals of financial management, lack of acceptance from the clients and members of the organization. The highest level of satisfaction among managers had the buying policy and the process of invoicing, that was the result of high efficiency of this area of activity. The majority of the managers considered that the existent policies of liquidity led to the optimal level of liquidity in the enterprises.

Abstrakt	The article presents a description of group 03 biomass resources specified in the Ministry of Environment Directive of 27 September 2001. Waste of group 03 can be recognized as the so-called biomass, because it is waste left after wood processing and manufactured boards, furniture, cellulose, paper and cardboard production. After the elimination of pollutants that exist in waste of group 03 with the use of e.g. pyrolysis, there is a possibility of using biomass as solid fuel.

Abstrakt	A delayed succession is a relatively new phenomenon involving formal (usually, in the form of a notarial deed) transfer of a farm to a successor who, upon the transfer, does not want or is unable to take over all functions of the existing owner. The disturbance of the generational life cycle of farms leads to the disclosure of their declining stage which very often results in losing a major portion of the farm’s production potential. The research conducted confirmed that the processes of destruction on the surveyed farms were significantly advanced. The signs of the deterioration of farms were particularly visible on the farms used by persons of advanced age and on the farms owned by farmers engaged in outside-farm gainful activities.

Abstrakt	Integracja z Unią Europejską, umożliwiła restrukturyzację polskiego sektora rybackiego na niespotykaną do tej pory skalę. Dzięki środkom unijnym przeprowadzono redukcję floty rybackiej oraz dokonano jej częściowej modernizacji. Natomiast nie wprowadzono do eksploatacji żadnego nowego statku rybackiego, a restrukturyzacja floty rybackiej dokonała się prawie wyłącznie dzięki środkom unijnym. Zmiany w polskiej flocie rybackiej zwiększyły rentowność połowów oraz poprawiły konkurencyjność sektora. Nastąpiło to w wyniku zwiększenia indywidualnych kwot połowowych oraz unowocześnienia jednostek rybackich. Proces restrukturyzacji polskiej floty rybackiej nie został zakończony. Konieczne jest jej unowocześnienie. Przyszły Fundusz Morsko-Rybacki na lata 2014-2020, stwarza warunki do kontynuowania rozpoczętych zmian. Ma to nastąpić w wyniku ograniczenia hojnego subsydiowania rybołówstwa na rzecz większego wpływu rynku.
Abstract	Integration with the European Union allowed the restructuring of the Polish fishing sector on an unprecedented scale. Thanks to EU funding, the fishing fleet was reduced and partly modernized. No new fishing vessel was entered into operation. The restructuring of the fishing fleet was carried out almost exclusively owing to EU funding. Changes in the Polish fishing fleet improved the profitability of fishing and improved the sector’s competitiveness. This was a direct result of increased individual fishing quotas and modernized fishing vessels. The process of restructuring the Polish fishing fleet has not been concluded. Rejuvenation and modernization of the fleet are indispensable. The future Sea-Fishing Fund for 2014-2020 creates conditions for continuation of the changes already initiated. This will be possible thanks to limiting the generous subsidization of fishing in favor of the market’s greater influence.

Abstrakt	Niniejsze opracowanie prezentuje istotę, mechanizmy i cechy komunikacji marketingowej skierowanej do segmentu dziecięco-młodzieżowego. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na specyfikę przekazów reklamowych transmitowanych do młodego odbiorcy. Wskazano m.in., iż nastoletni konsumenci stają się coraz bardziej wymagającymi uczestnikami rynku, mającymi ścisłe sprecyzowane oczekiwania. Przedsiębiorstwa z kolei dzięki powszechnemu rozwojowi nowoczesnych technologii, mogą sprostać temu zadaniu, stosując w procesach komunikacyjnych różnorodne instrumenty, które dotrą do docelowych fragmentów rynku. Aby jednak komunikacja spełniła swoje funkcje, należy dokładnie poznać jej adresata i zadbać o to, aby informacja została właściwie rozkodowana i zinterpretowana.
Abstract	This paper presents the essence, mechanisms and characteristics of marketing communication directed to a segment of children and youth. Particular attention was paid to specific of advertising messages transmitted to the young audience. It was showed, among the other, that teen consumers are becoming more demanding market participants, having closely defined expectations. Enterprises, in turn, the widespread development of modern technologies, can meet this challenge by using a variety tools in communication processes, and that reach target market parts. However, communication has fulfilled its function, be sure to know the young consumer and make sure that the information has been properly decoded and interpreted.

Abstrakt	Celem niniejszego opracowania jest omówienie zasad wynikających z procesu zarządzania marką. Problematyka zarządzania marką została przeanalizowana w kontekście budowania pozycji konkurencyjnej firmy na rynku, na którym działa w oparciu o dostępną z tego zakresu literaturę przedmiotu. Rozważania dokonano analizując determinanty silnej marki oraz poszczególne działania marketingowe wynikające ze stosowanych przez przedsiębiorstwa elementów mieszanki marketingowej. Całość jest próbą ukazania roli poszczególnych działań składających się na proces zarządzania marką w zdobywaniu i umacnianiu przez przedsiębiorstwo pozycji na rynku, na którym działa i konkuruje z innymi podmiotami w zakresie zaspokajania potrzeb klientów, dążąc tym samym do pozyskania grupy osób lojalnych w stosunku do kreowanej marki.
Abstract	The purpose of this paper is to discuss the principles resulting from the process of brand management. The issue of brand management has been analyzed in the context of building a company's competitive position in the market in which it operates on the basis of the available literature in this area of the object. The considerations have been made by analyzing the determinants of a strong brand and individual marketing activities resulting from the companies use of marketing mix elements. The whole thing is an attempt to show the role of the various activities involved in the process of brand management in the acquisition and consolidation of the company position in the market in which it operates and competes with others to meet the needs of customers, aiming to raise the same group of people loyal to the one created brand.
