Abstrakt
Abstract	Poland’s accession to the EU has caused a necessity of harmonising Polish with the union law also in the field of energy law. It also enforces achievement of 7,5% share of energy from alternative sources in the total energy consumption in 2010. Execution of this international commitment will require more economic and legal support from the state. The development of alternative sources of energy creates chances of development of rural areas where these kinds of installations are being mostly located. This article presents an analysis of the economic efficiency of energy production on an example of 5 small hydroelectric power stations. The analysis is based on a comparison of full unit costs and unit revenue from energy sale. Bigger stations proved economically efficient while for the smaller the break even point is associated with an average water flow of 153 million m3/year

Abstrakt	Wyniki badań zamieszczone w opracowaniu dotyczą problematyki efektywności produkcji mleka w gospodarstwach należących do Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Producentów Mleka. Dane do badań uzyskano z Raportu EDF . 2006. Analizy danych dokonano przy użyciu metody DEA, a w celu nadania badanym gospodarstwom rang posłużono się metodą DEA EMS (Efficiency Measurement System).
Abstract	The main aim of the article to estimate milk production efficiency in 2005 in farms concerning to European Dairy Farmers. The analysis were conducted on the basis of DEA method. Two groups of farms (>150 cows and <150 cows) have been analyzed. In all analyzed farms the average efficiency index CRS in steering on input model amounted to 0,840. In steering on input consideration VRS model, the average efficiency index VRS amounted to 0,857. In steering on output consideration VRS model, the average technical efficiency index VRS amounted to0,886. For a big farms, average efficiency index CRS in steering on input model amounted to 0,885, however the average technical efficiency index VRS amounted to 0,915. For a big farms, average technical efficiency index VRS amounted in steering on output model amounted 0,957. In small farms group, the average technical efficiency index CRS amounted to 0,859, the average technical efficiency index VRS for steering on input model amounted to 0,972, and the average technical efficiency index VRS for steering on output model amounted to 0,894.

Abstrakt	W artykule dokonano oceny wpływu skali spółdzielni mleczarskich na ich wyniki ekonomiczno-finansowe. Przeprowadzone badania na próbie 393 obiektów wskazuj ą, że wraz ze wzrostem skali mleczarni poprawie ulegają takie miary efektywności, jak: wydajność pracy, sprzedaż i ceny skupu mleka.
Abstract	This paper presents assessment of relation between scale of dairy cooperatives and their financial performance. The analysis based on 393 objects shows that scale of dairy is correlated with many of efficiency measures. The bigger scale leads to the higher labour productivity, monetary value per milk indicator and milk price offered to the members. However the research does not confirm hypothesis that bigger scale leads to the higher assets productivity and profitability of cooperatives. Further concentration of the dairy sector in Poland should lead to the better results of dairies.

Abstrakt	W artykule przestawiono analizę efektywności skali produkcji mleka w gospodarstwach zrzeszonych w sieci EDF. Badaniami, przy wykorzystaniu metody DEA wskazującej relatywną efektywność analizowanych obiektów, objęto 262 gospodarstwa z 16 krajów Europy. Przeprowadzone badania wykazują różnice w efektywności skali produkcji mleka wśród analizowanych gospodarstw. Z badań wynika, że na 188 gospodarstw o nieefektywnej skali produkcji 79 miało malejący charakter skali, tzn. za dużą skalę produkcji, natomiast 109 miało rosnący charakter skali, co oznacza za małą skalę produkcji. Wskazana nieefektywność informuje o tym, że istnieje lepsza struktura nakładów i efektów niż aktualnie posiadana przez gospodarstwo.
Abstract	The paper aims to compare the scale efficiency of milk production on the basis of data from selected farms associated in European Dairy Farmers network (EDF). The date for analysis were collected from 262 farms in 2005. The scale efficiency of milk production was computed by applying Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results of the study showed that 188 farms were inefficient, 79 farms had to high scale of production and 109 farms had too low scale of production. The later farms should therefore change the structure of inputs and outputs to get the optimal scale of production.

Abstract	The aim of the paper was to analyze the influence of the agricultural land structure on incomes and economic efficiency of sheep breeding farms in Poland. The results show that incomes and productivity were higher in bigger farms. The paper argues that for Polish conditions, with regard to economic performance of sheep breeding farms, the optimal share of pastures in agricultural land structure should reach the level of 30-40%.

Abstract	The paper aims to present the changes in the resources of the agricultural-based companies solely owned by the Agency of Agricultural Property that were listed in the .List 300. ranking by Nowe Zycie Gospodarcze magazine in the years 1996-2005. Additionally, there was also conducted the ratio-based assessment of their economic and financial performance. Although the analyzed firms are limited liability companies, their activity in majority is not purely commercial due to the breeding of agricultural plants and animals being of state-strategic interest. In the analyzed years these companies owned more agricultural land comparing to companies being in other legal and organizational forms. Within analyzed group there was also observed differentiation of area and quality of agricultural land due to the production profile. The employment was decreasing; however it was high with comparison to other ranked firms, which is due to the specific of performed activities. Moreover the plant breeding companies were characterized by higher profitability of market activity and profitability of assets ratios comparing to those specialized in animal breeding. However taking into account the production profile the capital profitability and value added ratios did not vary.

Wybrano 20 spółdzielni mleczarskich, które podzielono na trzy grupy o różnych poziomach wskaźnika zadłużenia ogólnego, a następnie za pomocą wybranych wskaźników oceniono efektywność ich działalności.
Abstract	The paper aims to analyze how the efficiency of dairy cooperatives depends on the debt ratio. The analyzes based on data from 20 selected dairy cooperatives. They have been divided into three groups according to different debt level. Then the ration-based assessment of the efficiency of their activity was conducted. The findings show that cooperatives, with average debt level, where the outside capital was properly used, could have obtained similar results like these, which largely use the outside capital.

Analizy prowadzono dla trzech największych klas wielkościekonomicznej. W miarę wzrostu skali produkcji, mierzonej wielkością ekonomiczną gospodarstw, naogół silnie rośnie efektywność pracy, majątku i kapitału własnego. Zaskakują najlepsze wyniki uzyskaneprzez gospodarstwa hiszpańskie i włoskie jak też słabe, w wielu przypadkach, uzyskane przezrozreklamowane gospodarstwa duńskie, francuskie, niemieckie czy holenderskie. Polskie gospodarstwa,zarówno pod względem dochodowości pracy własnej jak i rentowności majątku i kapitału, okazały siękonkurencyjne, szczególnie te specjalizujące się w uprawach polowych i chowie zwierząt ziarnożernych.
Abstract	Economical results of farms of three types of farming (TF13 – field crops, TF41 – diary farms,TF50 – grainvores livestock) in selected EU member states in 2004 were analysed basing on FADN data.The research was done for three classes of biggest economic size. Usually the bigger the productionoutput, measured by the economic size of farm, the bigger labour efficiency and assets and equityprofitability. What may wonder are the good results of Spanish and Italian farms and some poor results ofDanish, French, German or Dutch farms. Polish farms appeared to be competitive with regard to ownlabour productivity and profitability of assets and equity, especially these specialized in field crops andgrainvores livestock

Abstract	In the paper relationship between method of consolidation of the Żywiec Group balance and its financial assessment in the scope of ratios of profitability, liquidity and efficiency was presented. Connections of mutual claims and liabilities in capital group were various as regards sums of settlement as well as terms of maturity. There were significant differences of value of property statement between consolidated breweries, where there were small differences of structure. Breweries differ as regards strategy of financing an activity. The complete method of consolidation doesn’t change financial assessment of the Żywiec Group, where there were significant changes as regards capital structure. Proportional method of consolidation cause similar links of property and capital relationships to complete method of consolidation. Used method of consolidation has insignificant impact on the level of profitability ratios of capital and assets. The liquidity of Żywiec Group, regardless the method of consolidation, was unchanged. The use of proportional method of consolidation caused improvement of efficiency ratios

Abstract	In the paper the analysis of the dependence between an amount of working capital (WC) for the unit of net profit (NP) and financial standing of agricultural enterprises is presented. The lowest level of this relationship did not guarantee a stable level of profitability of property, own capital and land use. Too high level of that relationship contributed to the increase of efficiency in this scope, but on the level lower than in enterprises with average relationship WC/NP. Only in enterprises with the highest relationship WC/NP maintenance of quick and current liquidity ratio was stated. Enterprises of the lowest relationship WC/NP were endangered with loss of financial liquidity and were characterized with the highest debt. The vindication of dues was the most efficient in enterprises with the highest relationship WC/NP. The working capital is fundamental source of the current activity financing, while too high level of it could be inefficient. Therefore it is a necessity of search its optimum in relationship to the profit, what transfers to the efficiency of use of land, labour and capital.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The paper aims to evaluate whether or not the last EU enlargement to the new 10 member states (EUN-10) has influenced the intra EU trade of agricultural products. In particular, the analysis focuses on the effects on trade between two groups of countries EU-15 and EUN-8 (i.e. the Central-Eastern Europe new members countries) of the EU-accession process. The import-export flows show a noticeable increase in trade between the two areas over the last decade. This increase surely stems from the opening up process, but according to second best theory in international trade which applies to Customs Unions – it not necessarily favours efficiency as far as social welfare is concerned. The analysis shows also that the comparative advantages in certain products, which ten years ago fuelled trade, do not appear to have altered the position of the two groups of countries. Focusing on agricultural products the integration process, which was already underway during the pre-accession period, has maintained and not reduced their specific specialization.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The macroeconomic efficiency of a public library in a small town near Warsaw has been calculated in the form of benefit/cost ratio. The benefits have been estimated by the method of contingent valuation of the library services and by the revealed preferences expressed by the costs of travel to and from the library as well as the costs of library deposit fees. The macroeconomic costs have been assumed equal to the microeconomic costs, except for labour costs which have been estimated as social opportunity costs of labour and therefore corrected downwards because of the persistent unemployment in town. The BCR ratio turned to be far below zero (depending on assumptions varied between 0.37 and 0.76). However only the direct benefits accruing to the library customers have been included.

Abstrakt
Abstract	In the last years a disturbing tendency of reduction in the birth rate and increase in the death rate is observed, and the situation in the countryside is especially dangerous. The most qualified experts and youth leave countryside. Youth in its turn is a potential labour force. The state uses measures to improve the situation. However the further development of manufacture and the effective utilization of labour potential are impossible without labour efficiency growth.

Abstrakt
Abstract	A horse riding centre with 13 owned and 17 boarded horses made in 2005 a profit of 60,390 PLN. In winter costs were higher than revenues. In summer, the reverse was true. The difference between the seasons was considerable. The purchases of forage and employment of a horse riding instructor were the largest cost components.
