Abstract	This article presents the financial position of transport company on the example of Świętokrzyskie Centre for Sanitary Rescue and Transport in Kielce. Ratio analysis has been carried out, which indicates a good financial situation of the enterprise. The company’s financial situation has been studied by means of measures of liquidity and efficiency, as well as inventory and receivables conversion cycles. The company has also been analyzed in the direction of ROS and ROA. The final element of financial analysis study was to identify sources of business financing.

Abstract	In the article the opinions of agribusiness joint stock companies’ managers concerning strategies of financing are presented. By means of survey technique the hierarchy of sources of financing, factors influencing the capital structure and methods of equity capital estimation were defined. It was stated that in the companies of agribusiness variable strategies of capital management were applied, with the advantage of moderate strategies. The most effective source of financing was long-term debt. The main reason for increasing the debt level was the necessity to finance new investment projects. Among the most important factors determining the choice between long-term and short-term debt were the necessity to synchronize the term of debt with the period of current assets’ cycle as well as the lower interest rate of the short-term debt comparing to long-term debt.

Their operations are usually limited to local governments, agricultural companies, small businesses and local individual clients due to a low level of assets and a lack of proper capital resources. In fact, since 2009 cooperative banks through special bond trading platforms Catalyst run by WSE may issue bonds to domestic and international investors. Thanks to such instruments small cooperative banks may develop their credit activity, restructure their financing structure, improve capital adequacy and get long-term stability of equity.

The level of own funds also affects the safety of bank operations, sizes of credit activities and development opportunities. Low capitalization is a dangerous phenomenon, because it limits lending activity and reduces the profitability of the bank. Cooperative banking sector in order to compete with commercial banks must continually increase their capital base and improve efficiency. The purpose of this article is determine the financial situation of the cooperative banks, depending on the level of own funds.

Abstract	The aim of this paper was to determine the situation of the EU farms in 2009 according to their production potential and to identify changes of the situation compared to 2004. FADN data was used in the paper. Then, grouping farms was conducted by means of cluster analysis. For clusters separated on farm’s equipment with production factors the financial indicators and income per farm and per employee were calculated. A more favourable income situation occurs in farms with a more correct relations between the resources of capital and other production factors, although the financial situation of those entities assessed on the basis of financial indicators is not always clearly favourable.

Abstract	The aim of the paper is formulated by describing three research tasks: a) the identification of income sources of households in Poland, and their structure, with particular emphasis on income from individual farms in the years 1996– –2010; b) the analysis of the Middle Pomerania households structure – by sources of income; c) the evaluation of the agricultural income significance in household income of Middle Pomerania. The main source of households’ income in Poland was the hired labor, social security and social assistance benefits. Agricultural activity of farms is essential in realizing of the productively farms’ function in Poland. Different situation is in the region of Middle Pomerania. Households whose main source of income are pensions determine the largest percentage of the reference population (the greater extent in the Koszalin subregion than in the Slupsk subregion), followed by a household whose main income was wage labor, then farming. During the analyzed period the household income of farmers increased, but these entities are still the socio-economic group, which achieves some of the lowest income. Therefore, the households of farmers looking for alternative sources of income, or a completely abandon the agricultural business, which is confirmed by the decreasing number of farms in Poland.

Abstract	Tax incidence is a rational reaction of taxpayers to taxation. The taxpayer will attempt to shift the tax burden to other market entities. In order to analyze the degree of such shift, it is necessary to be able to measure it. This publication presents the tax incidence measure as the sum of two components: the percentage of taxation shift from the taxpayer to the recipient and the percentage of taxation shift from the taxpayer to the supplier. This index appears to be a good tool. Its advantages include an ability to measure tax incidence impacts in varying directions, the possibility to combine forward and backward incidence to show incidence against base price levels – that is the differentiation between partial, full and over incidence. The index which specifies the degree of tax incidence means it becomes an operational value, that is, it becomes measurable. We will be able to predict the effects of taxation more easily, measuring the degree of taxpayers’ reaction to taxation.

Research objectives were individual farms from podlaskie voivodships participating in the FADN (46 farmers). The results of the interview questionnaire indicate that farmers draw up cash flow budget in order to efficient the financial management of farms. Most of the farmers said that they examine the balance of cash flows from operating, investing, financial and private activities.

Abstract	The paper presents the opinions of farmers from the Lublin on the importance of financial liquidity for agricultural farms. Owners of farms surveyed recognized the importance of the ability to regulate short-term liabilities primarily because they have financial liquidity is associated with a sense of financial security. Farmers control the level of liquidity primarily by monitoring cash inflows and outflows due to the time of settling liabilities and collection of receivables. It was also found that the main way to maintain financial liquidity on the farms is to reduce the expenditure of money. Farmers plan to maintain the financial liquidity of such by controlling the size of current liabilities and to maintain a safe level of cash.

Abstract	The paper presents an analysis of the process of shaping European Union legislation on GMO’s. Describes impact on the legislative process by the most important of the EU institutions: the Commission, the Council and the European Parliament as well as by various lobbing groups. The complexity and partial openness of the Union’s legislative process introduced in Lisbon Treaty was seen as an opportunity for consulting various Union’s social groups. As demonstrated in the work, existing system allows organized groups to delay substantially or even reject proposed changes in the EU legislation, important from the point of maintaining the global competitiveness of the European Union.

Abstract	Structural changes in agriculture concern both production sphere as well as economic and social ones. Transformation in Polish agriculture has been performing for many years, first under influence of system transformation, next as the result of integration and globalization processes. These changes are similar to the changes in “old 15” countries of EU. Above mentioned changes regard employment reduction in agriculture, increase of production factors productivity, as well as improvement of rural farms area structure. The dynamics of transformation is greater than in “old EU – 15” countries. But productivity of production factors, especially labor productivity is far more lower than in high developed countries. The instruments of Common Agriculture Policy as well as coherence policy and structural policy are the chance for accelerating of transformation in agriculture.

Abstract	The aim of the paper is to present food situation and assess the range of food security in the European Union countries. The analysis was conducted both at national and at the household level. It was proved that nationally, in all EU countries minimum daily energy requirement was met with a surplus, but at the microeconomic level, difficulties in ensuring food security appeared in almost 9% of households in the EU-27 and even 20% of households in the EU-12. The prevalence of food insecurity varied depending on the size of the household.

Abstract	The economic crisis resulted in attempts to speed up the process of consolidation of public finances in the European Union. The purpose of this article is to determine the scale and nature of changes in the level of national state aid allocated to agriculture in recent years by the EU member states. The main source of data used on the types and scale of domestic agriculture aid granted by Member States of the EU in the period 2005–2010 was the European Commission. In the first part of the article the principles of aid for agriculture in the EU are discussed. Then the scale of support for this sector is presented. In the last part of the paper changes in the amount of support recorded in recent year are described.

Abstract	As countries develop, agriculture becomes less important part of their economies. Low food demand is one of important barriers to the development of the agriculture. However, this barrier can be overcome by food processing, resulting in more diversified food offer on the market. Analyses presented in this paper reveal, that in the countries that accessed EU in 2004 one can observe decline of the importance of agriculture. However, hypothesis concerning rise of the importance of food processing cannot be confirmed.

Abstract	The study provides an assessment of profitability of strawberries, grown for direct consumption in the traditional time of harvest. The aim was to determine the economic impact of strawberries in Poland and in the world, determine the direction of the use of strawberries in Poland and to determine the profitability of production and the factors shaping it. Our study was carried out for the period 2006–2011 in deliberately chosen farm, where for more than 10 years are produced strawberries. It was found that the fundamental determinants of profitability was the level of yields, the price obtained and the level of direct costs incurred in the production process.
