Abstract	In Central and Eastern Europe societies had problems in self-organising and creating civil virtues during transformation period. Polish citizens are still reluctant to join organisations, it is observed especially in rural areas. However it is people inhabiting rural areas who organize informally most often. This paper presents case studies of four villages in Podlasie region, in which citizens organized protests against closing their children’s primary schools. The analysis concerns group activeness before these protests, forms of the protests themselves, and activeness of the citizens after the decisions concerning the schools were taken by local authorities. It is concluded that willingness to associate and taking proper measures by citizens results among others from earlier experience in self-organising. Sometimes developing social activeness of local communities requires external help (such as mediation) or support of local authorities

Abstract	The paper presents differences between Polish balance law and the IAS/ /IFRS as well as their consequences for the financial situation evaluation of the Provimi-Rolimpex Capital Group. Several divergences between Polish balance law and the IAS/IFRS were found, especially in the fixed and current assets, the profit and loss statement as well as in the ratio analysis. These differences were caused by dissimilar valuation or obligation of reclassifying some assets’ positions to different categories or as a result of decrease or increase of some assets, capital or results. The fixed material assets had the greatest impact on the balance, which amounted 77% of the assets’ changes. The fixed material assets, by change the valuation into the fair value, caused increase of equity value by 75.528 thousand PLN. Employment of the IAS/IFRS resulted in implementation of new biology and fixed assets’ positions. The financial result calculated within the Accounting Act was lower by 1.222 thousand PLN than within the IAS/IFRS. Transformation of the financial declaration within the IAS/IFRS, initially made within the Accounting Act rules, resulted in increase of the sale profitability ratio, decrease of total indebtness and equity indebtness ratios. However, assets and equity profitability as well as the liquidity level decreases. There happened no essential changes regarding management effectiveness ratios

Abstract	In the paper the analysis of the dependence between an amount of working capital (WC) for the unit of net profit (NP) and financial standing of agricultural enterprises is presented. The lowest level of this relationship did not guarantee a stable level of profitability of property, own capital and land use. Too high level of that relationship contributed to the increase of efficiency in this scope, but on the level lower than in enterprises with average relationship WC/NP. Only in enterprises with the highest relationship WC/NP maintenance of quick and current liquidity ratio was stated. Enterprises of the lowest relationship WC/NP were endangered with loss of financial liquidity and were characterized with the highest debt. The vindication of dues was the most efficient in enterprises with the highest relationship WC/NP. The working capital is fundamental source of the current activity financing, while too high level of it could be inefficient. Therefore it is a necessity of search its optimum in relationship to the profit, what transfers to the efficiency of use of land, labour and capital.

Abstract	In the paper the analysis of changes in the structure of an economic activity of rural population, with division into agricultural rural population and rural people without land was presented. Changes in the age structure and education structure of rural population as one of factors differentiating economic activity were also analyzed. Increasing tendency in the share of village people without land and in the share of economically inactive population was observed. Landless population dominated in the structure of old aged people while in the group of agricultural rural population youngest people dominated. An increase of better educated people in the structure of rural population was stated. However the worst educated people dominate, particularly within agricultural population. Differences in professional activity between agricultural and landless rural people should be considered in creating agricultural politics towards rural areas, with differentiation applied instruments and direction of administrating financial support

Abstrakt	Zaprezentowano prognozy ruchu turystycznego do roku 2010 uwzględniając przyjazdy turystów do Polski, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem przyjazdów turystów z krajów Unii Europejskiej w latach 1994-2005. Przedstawiono także wpływy z tytułu przyjazdów cudzoziemców w tych latach wraz z prognozą do 2010 roku. Przeanalizowano wyjazdy zagraniczne Polaków. W artykule poddano też analizie dane pochodzące z badań prowadzonych w Instytucie Turystyki w 2005 roku. Przedstawiono również ogólne trendy w turystyce europejskiej i światowej.
Abstract	This article presents a prognosis of tourist traffic for 2010 with respect to tourist arrivals to Poland, basing on the traffic from the European Union in years 1994 through 2005. The paper presents also the factors influencing tourist traffic in years 1994 through 2005 and their prognosis up to 2010. Data published by Tourist Institute in 2005 are analysed. Principal trends in European and world tourism are shown.

Abstract	The paper presents an analysis of Polish foreign trade in cereals and cereal products in 2003 through the first quarter of 2006, including breakdown by product and geographical destination as well as trade conditions after the Polish accession to the European Union. In the years 2003 through 2005 cereals and cereal products amounted to 7.5% of the total agro-food export value, and 7.2% of imports. Value of cereal exports increased through time. Moreover, 70% of exports represented highly processed cereal products.

Abstrakt	Celem pracy było porównanie wybranych elementów rynku mięsa drobiowego w Polsce i w pozostałych krajach członkowskich Unii Europejskiej w latach 1961-2003. Zebrano dane statystyczne z FAOSTAT-u i obliczono podstawowe statystyki, a także wskaźniki uzależnienia od importu. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że zarówno w Polsce jak i w pozostałych krajach UE wzrastało spożycie mięsa drobiowego, w Polsce szczególnie na niekorzyść mięsa wołowego. Największym importerem drobiu jest Wielka Brytania, a eksporterem Holandia. Najmniej drobiu importuje i eksportuje Malta.
Abstract	The aim of the paper was to compare selected elements of poultry meat market in Poland and in the other European Union countries in years 1961 through 2003. The statistical data were collected from FAOSTAT. Basic trade statistics and the dependence on imports were calculated. It turned out that both in Poland and in the other EU countries the consumption of the chicken meat grew up, in Poland particularly replacing the consumption of beef meat. Great Britain is the largest importer of poultry and the largest exporter is the Netherlands. Malta imports and exports the least amounts of poultry.

Abstract	This article presents an assessment of the potential for introducing Polish regional products in the European Union’s Common Market. The main advantages of Polish regional product entry to this market are the low costs of labour, big land resources, favourable age structure of population, traditional methods of agricultural production, natural rural landscape, big biodiversity, cultural and historical wealth. The main obstacles are the Polish law system and the lack of experience among Polish producers. The author thinks that Poland may become an acknowledged producer of cheeses, meat and meat preserves, fruits and vegetables, grains and their preserves as well as beverages.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The Polish tax system for agriculture requires significant reforms, especially in the sphere of income tax. It is crucial to choose an appropriate structure of this tax which should be adjusted both to the needs of agriculture and the economy in general. On the whole, while looking for new solutions, those which already exist may also be useful, because being acquainted with them enables us to use appropriate structures for constructing new taxation system for agriculture and to eliminate previously made mistakes. The article presents special solutions used for the income tax imposed on farms in the EU, which, on the one hand lead to a decrease of fiscal burdens of agriculture, while on the other hand are a hidden form of its support. It also shows solutions used in Germany, France and Italy, as well as in Great Britain and Ireland, which according to the author, represent various types of agriculture and different tax rules. Therefore, they may constitute a relatively good representation of the so-called 15 regular EU states. The focus of the analysis is the personal income tax, which due to its structure relating to the area of taxation and the predominance of family farms, is one of the most important taxes on agriculture in the EU.

Abstrakt	W dwóch pierwszych latach przynależności do Unii Europejskiej Polska była netto beneficjentem przepływów z budżetu Unii w wysokości 2,69 mld euro. Oznacza to przepływ netto na głowę mieszkańca równy 70 euro. Suma przepływów ze strony Unii od momentu włączenia wyniosła 7,2 mld euro, z czego 27% było przeznaczone na finansowanie Wspólnej Polityki Rolnej. Komisja Europejska zaakceptowała rozliczenia polskich agencji płatniczych za lata 2004 i 2005 z wydatków na rzecz wsparcia rolnictwa finansowanych przez Sekcję Gwarancji EAGGF i za rok 2005 z wydatków na rzecz rozwoju obszarów wiejskich.
Abstract	In the first two years of membership Poland was a net beneficiary of flows from the EU budget. This translated into numbers means that Poland got from the EU 2.69 billion euro more than it paid. On a per capita basis, this means a net EU payment of 70 euro per person. EU-Poland accumulative financial flows since the first day of accession have reached a total of 7.2 billion euro of which 27% was spent on financing of the CAP. To ensure that Poland can absorb the EU funds effectively and manage them properly, a well-functioning administrative structure must be put in place. One of the key players in this structure is the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development which is responsible for programming and management of the funds allocated to agriculture and rural areas via two paying agencies: AMA and ARMA. The accounts of the paying agencies of Poland concerning expenditure financed by the EAGGF, Guarantee Section, with respect to the 2004 and 2005 financial years as well as expenditure on rural development with respect to 2005 were cleared by the European Commission
