Abstract | Development of market services in horticulture, both production and indirectly production type services depend on many factors. First of all these are economical factors like farm size, level of farm specialisation, labour availability and intensification of production. In connection with that there were made an attempt of development assessment as well as demand for production and indirectly production services for horticultural farms on the basis of farmers opinion pull. The survey shows relationship between the size of the horticultural farm and amount of services ordered by agricultural or horticultural holdings as well as between the size of the horticultural farm and types of requested services. Analysis of the market services in agricultural and horticultural sector for the period 2001–2006 in Poland also was presented in the article |

The purpose of the paper was an analysis of situation in the foodservice market of Poland at the beginning of XXI century. Nowadays many different factors affect eating out. The most important are: economic growth, demographic and cultural trends, structure of households and their incomes, changes of eating habits, and finally development of foodservice market. The appearance of different new trends and functions in foodservice sector is observed. It is hypothesized further development of foodservice market in Poland as an important segment of Polish economy. |

Abstract | In the article the problem of product innovations in the food sector was described. In the first part, based on the literature data, chosen definitions and classifications of new products were presented, particularly taken into consideration food products. In the second part, the results of the Central Statistical Offi ce (GUS) researches about product innovativeness in industrial enterprises manufacturing food products and beverages were presented. In the third chapter of the article, based on the results of the questionnaire research carried out on the sample of 149 enterprises, the main directions of product innovations on the food marked were presented. The results of both the desk and the field researches indicate that the low level of innovativeness is characteristic for food sector in Poland and that the main trends of food product changes are: changes in appearance of products and packages, improvement of health proprieties of food, changes of taste, and improvement of the comfort of products use. |

Abstract | The aim of this paper is to assess the significance of current liabilities in financing businesses in Poland. The proposed thesis assumed that it is variable and highly dependent on the specificity of the sector in which the business operates. The article is a part of a broader study concerned the short-term finuancing sources of businesses in Poland. It presents the empirical verification based on the data from the Polish Central Statistical Office in 1998–2007. The statistical data include financial results of businesses keeping accounting books, in which the number of employees exceeds 9. Current liabilities of the companies were presented according to the types of activities based on the Polish Statistical Classification of Economic Activities. |

Abstract | After Poland accession to the European Union the value of sold production in food industry has increased dynamically. After five years of functioning in the EU structure the value of sold production increased over half. The production revival in this branch industry was the direct reason of the improvement in economical and financial results of food producers. Their indexes grew 150% and had remained on this level by several years. This was a general phenomenon, taking a stand in majority food sectors. Not earlier than last year, the slight decline in the financial and economical results in the food industry has been observed, but still they have been better than before the integration into the EU. The increase of sale and profit generated by the food industry was a result of influence, equal extensive and intensive, of the qualified factors. The biggest effect on the increase of the turnover had the grown of wealth involved in the food branch, and a high grow of sale profitability enabled increase the amount of financial result of food producers. |

Abstract | In Poland, in the sequence of recent years, changes in financing SME activity took place. Entrepreneurs are diverging from internal source of finances more and more by devoting to others forms of raising possessed capital. It is caused by increasing competition which is forcing companies to taking higher risk. A competent choice of the financing source is a substantial problem. It should have a beneficial influence on the profitability in the enterprise, as well as keeping the financial risk at reasonable level. The main direct benefit was a possibility of using structural funds after the accession of Poland into the EU, especially for the SME business sector. The implementation of programs which are co-financed by the EU funds is bringing visible effects more and more. |

Abstract | The article analyses Japanese economic conditions and their consequences for financing real investment in the sector of non-financial corporations in the nineties of the 20th century. In order to identify sources of financing real investment, national accounts was used. Data to be taken into consideration while assessing real investment made by Japanese companies was obtained from two accounts: a capital and financial accounts. It is found out that the nineties witnessed considerable changes in financing real investment in the sector of Japanese nonfinancial corporations, which stems from two overlapping mechanisms: companies’ preference to finance real investment by means of internal funds and lower willingness of financial institutions to lend money. |

Abstract | The paper analyses the financial resources of business activity in SME sector in Świętokrzyskie region. In all groups of enterprises noticed increased value of liabilities, equity and debt capital calculated per employee. I was stated that together with growing number of employees (size of enterprise) recorded significant enhance of capital value per employee. The equity capital was the financial resource which dominance in small and medium enterprises activity, while in micro enterprises – debt capital, especially short-term. In all groups of companies the participation of long term debt capital noticed quite low level. In case of micro enterprises recorded decreasing share of short term loan capital, in relation to long term financing, which value increased in researched period. It confirmed that this source of capital was used in implementations of companies undertakes. To summaries, the micro enterprises require financial support, since their previous capital position was unfavorable in relation to small companies. |

Abstract | To rapid economic deterioration in the world economy affected the majority of developing countries by the crisis. It is felt globally by inhibiting investment, limiting access to credit, bankruptcy publishing companies, the increase in unemployment, the destruction of part of the banking sector, the slowdown of international exchange, reducing revenue to the budgets of rich countries, which may lead to a slowdown in the pace of development assistance to developing countries. The concept of economic crisis, it also serves to draw attention to the following fact: the economy depends to a large extent on the possibility of predicting phenomena, which depends to a large extent on the beliefs of people about the state of the economy, and their future. In contrast, the prospect of troubled times or negative expectations may lead to an economic crisis or the speed of its results. According to the researchers the crisis may be different from the previous financial crises for a number of reasons, namely: in the current global economy and lower inflation is better controlled and is an important factor in easing the crisis |

Abstract | The paper deals with the analysis of the relationship between efficiency and effectiveness of SME sector enterprises in respect to size of the employment and fixed assets value. The enterprises were characterized by fixed assets diversity and value of investments outlay. The micro enterprises used possessed fixed assets quite effective. Definitely the lowest participation of long term financing was recorded in enterprises which noticed small value of fixed assets. In enterprises which had the highest value of this assets noted profitable situation in aspect of financial liquidity, whereas the lowest was ascertained in group with an average value of this assets. The fixed assets turnover was higher in enterprises which characterized by the lowest level of fixed assets In these group noticed the highest effectiveness of equity capital utilization. Abstract | The article presents the results of parameter estimation of production function in food industry in Poland. Author also calculated the marginal productivity of factors of production and used the marginal rate of substitution as a measure of substitution. It was stated that the output elasticity is higher with regard to labour input than to capital input. It means that exist way to obtain bigger growth in production in food industry by increasing labour input. Moreover, in some branches of food industry the value of marginal rate of substitution indicates that decrease of labour input by one unit requires significant increase of capital input in order to maintain the previous level of production. |

Abstract | In the last few years, a dynamic development of the service sector has been observed in Poland. An increase in the importance of services is a result of a civilisation development, and it is getting more and more meaningful due to an increasing number of employees and the value of provided services. The main aim of this study was to analyze the preferences of consumers from big cities (on the example of Warsaw) on choosing the place and the frequency of dining in restaurants. I have tried to find the relations between the chosen demographic indicators (age, sex, place of stay) and dining habits. It was noticed that dining in restaurants, for almost all taking part in the survey, is rather occasional than common. Abstract | The aim of this article was to gauge importance of quality, including quality assuring systems in purchasing decisions making on gastronomic market. In the thesis primary and secondary methods of research were used. Within the framework of secondary research the following issues were presented: the very idea of quality, quality management in food sector as well as the characteristics of modern customer and the analysis of gastronomic market in Poland. Primary research was based on a survey among customers of food offered on gastronomic market. |

Abstract | Agroecotourism is becoming the most dynamical branch of the world tourist industry. The Republic of Belarus has inexhaustible potential for the development of agroecotourism. It promotes a steady development of rural regions, raises well-being of its inhabitants by attracting investments, creates modern social infrastructure and new work places, contributes to the achievement of social and cultural purposes. Agroecotourism is considered to be an important component of a successful realization of the ‘State Program for the Revival and Development of the Countryside in the Republic of Belarus for 2005-2010’. The problem is that the agrotouristic enterprises have not enough money to increase the scale of realization of basic concepts and models stipulated by the National Program. Maintaining and developing the natural and human potential of Belarus will require making the agroecotourism a profitable branch of the agrarian sector of economy. |

Abstract | Effects of the climate change appear in several fields of the economy and agriculture can be considered as one of the most affected among them. In a country, where almost 10% of the total GDP is produced by the agricultural sector and more than 30% of the total work force is employed in this field, these changes may have severe economic impacts. As in Romania almost 65% of the agricultural production is represented by vegetal production, we concentrate our investigations on this agricultural sector. Our aim is to present, basing on econometric modeling, how the climate changes will affect the Romanian crop production in the next 20 years, highlighting the territorial differences which appear between the Romanian NUTS2 development regions. This paper presents some of the first results of the FP6 research project “CLAVIER – Climate Change and Variability: Impact on Central and Eastern Europe”, contract no. 037013 (2006-2009). |
