Abstract	The organizational environment comprises a wide range of forces that can affect organizational performances. These forces differ between organizations according to the geographical location, industry and market served. Multinational firms face different situations from that of small local business. The forces affecting business organizations are different from those influencing non-profit organizations, the forces affecting the electronics industry are different from those influencing the food industry. Even within the same industry forces will vary. Organizations need to understand the forces that affect them do that can plan for the future. The various environmental forces exist at different levels. At the outer level is institutional environment, then organization’s external environment (macro environment). At this level there are a range of economic, technological, social, cultural, political and international factors that generally affect all organizations. Then there is the organization’s most immediate competitive environment, which is the specific environment comprising the organization’s customers, suppliers and competitors. Spanning both internal and external environments is a third set of forces exerted by various stakeholders. All environments forces can affect many areas of the organization, such as its strategy (for example its choice of geographical markets), its structure, or its production methods. For this reason it is vital for management to undertake environmental analysis to assess: how the environment has changed, how it is likely to change, what impacts these changes are likely to have on the organization, its customers and markets

Abstract	The aim of the paper is to check if one was able to gain excess profits at the Warsaw Commodity Exchange. For this purpose technical analysis tools are used. Gaining excess profits would be impossible if only the market was informationally efficient. On the informationally efficient market the most effective strategy is the passive strategy “buy and hold”. If technical analysis tools permitted to gain excess profits, the weak-form efficient market hypothesis would be rejected. The analysis is carried out on the basis of the data from Warsaw Commodity Exchange in the span of 5 years: 2001–2005.

Abstract	This paper summarizes perceptions of the performance of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture in delivering services to farmers being its key customer group. The research utilized the case study method involving document reviews, observation, survey and interviews. Data were collected using questionnaires completed by 20 farmers living in village of Lichty of Czemierniki commune, who have been service users of the agency’s district office in Radzyń Podlaski. The survey was conducted during February and March of 2008. Key objective that guided this research was to assess the opinions of the farmers regarding the importance and performance of received services as well as satisfaction with the agency’s staff. The sample farmers reported quite high levels of satisfaction with the agency’s overall performance (service delivery and human resources functional skills). The average satisfaction score weighted by the importance assigned to each performance attribute was 3.8 points. The analysis revealed also that the staff of the office (including its courtesy, friendliness, knowledge ability, professionalism) on average was assessed at 4 on a 5-points scale with 1 being the lowest score

Abstract	Inflation is one of main factors influencing economy development. This is the reason why monetary policy is aimed at holding down inflation at low level. In Poland in the years 2001–2007 the influence of nominal interest rates on the level of inflation was unmistakable but on the low level. Inflation reacted changes of interest rates the most strongly after 6–7 quarters. The most important demand factor in inflation analysis is domestic demand, especially demand gap. Demand gap was computed by subtracting proportional increase of domestic production from proportional increase of domestic demand. The impact of demand gap on the price level changes was significant, excluding data from the year 2001. Monetary authorities ought to observe demand gap intently, because it can become in future main threat for assumed level of inflation. An increase of final demand combined with the low growth GDP rate and increase of production costs will cause intense rise of price’s level.

Abstract	The article attempts to present situation and consumer’s opinion about traditional and regional food market in Poland. It describes past and future potential threats resulting from the initial phase of creation of niche food alimentation market in Poland. The article presents fragmentary results of research conducted within a grant-research project implemented with the financial support of Foundation Cooperation Fund, Agro-Smak 2 Programme concerning the opinions of consumers and their attitudes, i.e. inclinations to purchase traditional/regional products in Poland. The research was conducted with the technical help of PENTOR Research International S.A. This review was prepared based on the primary empirical material collected during two rounds of research – round 1 conducted between September 20–25, 2007 (research stage 1) and between October 4–9, 2007 (research stage 2). The research was based on a representative sample of 1028 and 1032 Polish nationals of at least 15 years of age. The researchers re159 lied on Omnibus type of research using direct interview technique (face-to-face interviews at respondents’ homes) aided by state-of-the art recording and data processing technique – computer record. The aim of the research was to determine the respondents’ level of declarative knowledge of Polish traditional/regional food products and to define a potential group of purchasers of these products, as well as to find out whether the products, which apply for official EU registration, are purchased by consumers, at least from time to time. Questions were grouped in thematic groups. The goal was to collect feedback from respondents concerning their awareness and frequency of purchase of traditional/regional food products as chosen from among the range of different products of the same category available in the market. The questionnaire was also expected to reveal the respondents’ determination to purchase the products in question in the future as well as to unveil possible assumptions behind not purchasing the products concerned and behind the consumers’ attempts to seek for information on the products under analysis.

Abstract	The aim of the article is to introduce the importance of individual forms of agricultural land turnover. The analysis covers land turnover defined in narrow scope, including only ownership changes of land possession. The research covers the span 1990–2006. The analysis shows, that in examined period the importance of market and non-market agricultural land turnover changed. In the year 1990 non-market transaction amounted to 71% of total agricultural land transactions, and next, starting from the mid-nineties the share of them stabilised at the level of 45–50%. The liberalization of the agricultural land turnover after 1990 had revived private land market. In 2006 82% of market transactions was reached between private individuals, and in 18% public sector participated.

Abstract	On the Warsaw Commodity Exchange there are quoted futures on agricultural goods and financial instruments. Futures can be used to hedge against unfavourable changes on the cash market. In the paper the model of hedging use in futures on euro was presented. Two scenarios of hedging use were worked out: pessimistic and optimistic. The analysis showed, that thanks to sale hedging, within both of the scenarios, a negative impact of foreign exchange risk on the financial result of wheat sale on the cash market was minimised. An investor was secured of profit from the transaction at the level of 260,000 zloty

Abstract	In the paper the synthetic analysis of changes in the economic activity structure was presented with classification into agricultural rural population and landless rural population. The measures of structure changes intensity and measures of average structure changes in the depiction of fixed base index and chain index were used. The use of synthetic measures of the structure dynamism is an essential supplementation of the traditional methodology in the scope of structure analysis. Not large changes in the structure of economic activity of agricultural and landless people were stated, what reflects stability in this scope, while insignificantly larger changes were observed in the group of landless population. The tendency resulting from higher mobility of that group of people because of land and lower attachment to the place of living was stated. Agricultural people were characterised by higher attachment to the place of living, so possible changes needs more time.

The level, dynamism and structure of foreign direct investment as well as the scale of employment and labour productivity in companies with the share of foreign capital were presented. The main thesis resulting from the analysis is a statement about positive impact of foreign direct investments on employment increase and labour productivity increase. That impact is significant in the regions of high level of foreign capital concentration, while it is less significant in the regions of high unemployment ratio

Title	Dividend as a factor influencing the profi tability of investing in shares

Abstract	The article aims at determining the dependence between the payment of dividend and the return rate of investment in the company’s shares. Furthermore, the author presents the legal conditions of the dividend payment and the importance of the dividend in shaping the market price of the share. The analysis shows that the return rate of the investments in the shares of the companies paying the dividend within the years 2003–2006 was in general higher than the average measured by the WIG index changes. In the analyzed period the number of companies paying the dividend increased. The average dividend rate ranged between 2,54% and 5,21%, what shows that the dividend isn’t the main source of income for the investors on Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Abstract	The purpose of this paper is to discuss all the possible problems which participants of the market may come across, as well as the analysis of how common is one of them, namely the one called a curse of the winner on the auctions on WGT SA. An attempt has also been made to explain why “psychological traps”, typical of acting in the situation of hazard, are not dangerous for such players as Warren Buffet, who was able to diminish the level of hazard connected with playing on the stock exchange, thanks to his experience and great skills. Uncertainty on the market occurs only when you have more than one possible outcome of your decision. The more possible outcomes you have, the higher is the level of uncertainly. The latter one is an inseparable part of taking different important decisions. It causes irrational reactions of the market participants, who are exposed to different impulses and easily get emotional after receiving some information. It’s very often the kind of behaviour typical of gamblers
