Abstract	The scale and extent of activities of cooperative bank depends on the size of own funds. The level of own funds also affects the safety of bank operations, sizes of credit activities and development opportunities. Low capitalization is a dangerous phenomenon, because it limits lending activity and reduces the profitability of the bank. Cooperative banking sector in order to compete with commercial banks must continually increase their capital base and improve efficiency. The purpose of this article is determine the financial situation of the cooperative banks, depending on the level of own funds.

Abstract	In the years 2000–2010 Polish cooperative banking sector was characterized by a strong and stable economic situation. In particular, the period 2000–2006 indicated a huge potential for cooperative banks, which allowed them to systematically increase the market share. Fundamental changes in the cooperative arrangements aimed at Western Europe – the merger of two banks associations and the ability to issue bonds by the cooperative banks, while viability of the sector and its high potential point to the significant development opportunities, further strengthening the capital and the ability to make better use of economies of scale, allowing both reduce operating costs, as well as improve the effectiveness of cooperative banks and allow the dynamic development of new technologies.

Abstract	Cooperative banks are special local financial institutions responsible for financing of local development and supporting of regional economy. Their operations are usually limited to local governments, agricultural companies, small businesses and local individual clients due to a low level of assets and a lack of proper capital resources. In fact, since 2009 cooperative banks through special bond trading platforms Catalyst run by WSE may issue bonds to domestic and international investors. Thanks to such instruments small cooperative banks may develop their credit activity, restructure their financing structure, improve capital adequacy and get long-term stability of equity.

Abstract	The expression development for free cash flows to firm taking into account the flat-rate tax on special branches of agricultural production was necessary to use the target costing for the analysis of agricultural investment project. It made possible to present essential for this costing the appropriately changed formula for target minimum rate of return on sales therefore. The modified current unit cost for investment project was lower than the allowable cost. Discount criteria for acceptance of this project were fulfilled. The size of the safety margin and safety margin rate for current costs reached a level indicating a low risk of failure of the project.

Abstract	The aim of this study is to identify factors influencing the creation and development of tourist enterprises that provide accommodation and catering services in the Lubelskie Voivodship. It has been noted that the key determinants crucial to undertake businesses among the surveyed entrepreneurs are not only the need of self-realization and independence but also a willingness to have higher wages and better living standards. The vast majority of respondents positively evaluate the possibility of development of their businesses, despite the identification of institutional and systemic barriers. The most important barriers are the current policy of the state and local governments as well as currently functioning tax system.

Abstract	The article presents the legal and business recommendations concerning the allocation of costs to the business lines in the environment of a company providing financial services to the market. It presents the advantages of this method, which provides valuable business information to the board members. The process of achieving so called full “ABC” method is very complicated, and requires longer time. The “ABC” method complies approximately 80% of all processes (products) in the company. Until then, we can use a simplified method presented in the article, and basing on that, we can make conclusions and decisions aiming at the smooth development of the company. The presented model may be a good basis for further evolution and development of the concept of investments in the business lines.

Abstract	The paper presents a preliminary method of ICT value analysis. The aim of this paper was to identify all ICT value sources, areas within which the economic role of ICT increases. The author finds that the main areas of independent, holistic ICT value growth are institutions, technologies, implementation, accessibility, affordability, know-how and actual use of ICT’s. They constitute a system, which is called ICT ecosystem or ICT value growth chain. The development of the ICT ecosystem is complete and sustainable (balanced), when it is carried out simultaneously within all of its areas. Each area produces some value, but it is not, technically speaking, the added value, represented collectively by the equivalent of “market price” good in the classic production chain, but the absolute value assessed from the perspective of its role in the economy. The presented structure provides the basis for presentation and analysis of multidimensional development of ICTs and its role in the economic growth.

Abstrakt	Celem artykułu była próba oceny wpływu członkostwa Polski w Unii Europejskiej na kształt regulacji prawnych dotyczących funkcjonowania spółdzielni rolniczych i wskazania kierunków ich rozwoju. Przedstawiono problematykę spółdzielczych grup producentów rolnych, w szczególności ewolucję ustawodawstwa oraz problemy związane z korzystaniem ze środków unijnych. W dalszej kolejności rozważania koncentrują się wokół rolniczych spółdzielni produkcyjnych oraz spółdzielni mleczarskich. W uwagach podsumowujących podkreślono m.in., że na prowadzenie działalności przez spółdzielnie rolnicze i kierunki ich rozwoju coraz większy wpływ mają przepisy prawa unijnego oraz sytuacja na rynku europejskim
Abstract	The aim of this paper was to present an attempt to assess the impact of Polands membership in the European Union on legislation governing the operation and directions of development for agricultural co-operatives. It presents issues concerning co-operative agricultural producers groups, in particular the evolution of legislation and problems associated with the use of EU funds. Further investigations are focused on agricultural production co-operatives and dairy cooperatives. In closing remarks it is stressed, among other things, that the activities of agricultural cooperatives are increasingly determined by the EU law and the market situation in Europe

Abstrakt	W Polsce po 1993 roku obserwowano dynamiczny rozwój produkcji ogrodniczej pod osłonami. Równocześnie obawiano się o jej przyszłość po zniesieniu barier celnych w wyniku akcesji do Unii Europejskiej. W pracy podjęto próbę zweryfikowania tych obaw. Przeprowadzono badania zmian w powierzchni upraw ogrodniczych pod osłonami w Polsce w latach 2000-2009. Analizowano kierunek i dynamikę zmian całkowitego areału pod osłonami oraz areału upraw warzywniczych i kwiaciarskich, w tym kwiatów ciętych, a także strukturę upraw według grup roślin i typów osłon oraz zróżnicowanie regionalne. Badania wykazały, iż przystąpienie do Unii Europejskiej nie miało istotnego wpływu na naszą produkcję pod osłonami. Od 2003 roku powierzchnia upraw warzyw jest na stabilnym poziomie, a powierzchnia upraw kwiaciarskich wykazuje niewielką tendencję rosnącą. Odnotowano zmiany w strukturze produkcji w poszczególnych województwach.
Abstract	A high rate of development of horticultural production under cover was observed in Poland since 1993. However, economists were anxious about its future after our integration with the UE and the abolishment of tariff walls. The aim of the study was to verify those opinions. The changes in the horticultural acreage under cover in Poland during the years 2000-2009 have been investigated. The tendency and dynamics of changes in the area under cover and their structure according to group of plants, cover types and regions of Poland have been analysed. It was found that our integration with the UE had no influence on our greenhouse production sector. Since 2003, the acreage under vegetable cultivation is stable and that under floriculture production shows a gradual increase. Changes in the production structure in particular provinces were noticed

Abstrakt	Okres integracji Polski z Unią Europejską cechuje wzrost dochodów gospodarstw domowych rolników, ale także ich zróżnicowanie. Dochód rozporządzalny gospodarstw domowych rolników ogółem w grupie obszarowej 20 ha i więcej jest wyższy około 2,0 razy niż w grupie 1-5 ha, a dochód z gospodarstwa rolnego analogicznie około 2,7 razy. Natomiast w gospodarstwach małych dochody pozarolnicze są wyższe niż w dużych. Jedną z przyczyn są dopłaty obszarowe przyznawane do każdego hektara gruntów utrzymanych w dobrej kulturze. Z dopłat najmniej skorzystały gospodarstwa o małym obszarze. Gospodarstwa małe uzupełniają niskie dochody z rolnictwa dochodami z pracy pozarolniczej. Integracja z UE wzmocniła wpływ obszaru gospodarstwa na sytuację dochodową rodzin rolniczych oraz miała pozytywny wpływ na rozwój różnych form zarobkowania poza rolnictwem. Podstawowe znaczenie dla poprawy sytuacji ekonomicznej i społecznej rodzin rolniczych ma rozwój sektora małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw, spółdzielczości oraz grup producentów. Pozytywne efekty może mieć także wdrażanie programów odnowy wsi.
Abstract	The period since the Polish integration with the European Union has been characterized by an increase in household income of farmers and also by income diversity. The household disposable income of farmers in the area group of 20 hectares or more is about 2.0 times higher than in the 1-5 hectare group and the farm income is similarly about 2.7 times higher. However, non-farm incomes in small farms are higher than in bigger ones. One of the reasons are the area payments granted to each hectare of land in good cultivation. Small households benefited from the area payments the least. Small farms supplement low incomes from farming with income from work outside agriculture. Integration with the EU has reinforced the farm area impact on income situation of farming families and had a positive impact on the development of various forms of earnings outside agriculture. Essential for improving the social and economic situation of forming families is the development of small and medium enterprises, cooperatives and producer groups. Positive effects can also bring an implementation of rural renewal schemes

It describes the past and future potential dangers resulting from the initial phase of creation of a niche alimentation market.

Analizie poddano m.in. rodzaj realizowanej inwestycji oraz jego zgodność z celami działania Modernizacja gospodarstw rolnych, typ reorganizacji produkcji, koszty operacji oraz poziom współfinansowania przedsięwzięcia
Abstract	International competitive, consumer requirements, standards and legislation are one of the main factors which force Polish farmers to modernization of farms. Part of the investments associated with upgrading the farm may be co-financed funds Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 for the Modernisation of farms. The aim of the study was to evaluate the implementation of this activity in the Lubelskie province. The analysis included the type of investment and its compatibility with the objectives of Modernisation of farms, the type of reorganization of production, investmet costs and the level of co-financing.

Abstract	The phrase ‘rural areas’ mean not only the place for agricultural production and the living place of rural population, but also refer to all the traditions, landscape, environment and residents of these areas. Rural development is highly supported at the EU level and it helps to enhance the quality of life of rural residents and the economic performance of rural areas. According to some points of view, the excessive support should be cut down, but the primary objectives of the CAP should be maintained. The threats of the economic crisis appear more significantly in rural areas. What are the possible ways to increase the economic situation of these areas, where poverty is high, education level is low and the population is aging? Working facilities are mostly connected with agriculture, but the financial background and competitiveness of agricultural enterprises is rather low. The environment and landscape should be preserved. How can all these problems be solved at the same time? How can the environment be preserved in line with the development of the rural areas? The renewed CAP was outlined in November 2010. This paper tries to examine the visions of rural areas for the future

Abstract	In recent years, the internationalisation of firm activities has been a significant trend in the agribusiness sector. To a great degree, this development has been fuelled by trade liberalisations and the EU enlargement, but also by the strong economic growth in many transforming and developing economies. Against this background, this paper identifies the strategies and instruments that agribusiness companies currently use when internationalising their business. The paper presents the empirical results of a survey that was undertaken between April and August 2010 with the participation of 113 German agribusiness firms. The majority of respondents expect that the globalisation of agricultural markets will increase remarkably in the future. For developing international business activities, comparatively simple strategies, such as direct and indirect exports, are most widely used. Agribusiness firms face various challenges in international markets, including problems with quality control, corruption, tariff and non-tariff trade barriers, as well as low availability of qualified workers and managers and a lack of legal security. Despite these difficulties and challenges, three-fourths of those interviewed indicated that they had either reached or exceeded the goals set for their international expansion

Abstract	The present research aims to achieve a retrospective analysis of sustainable policies for the development of beekeeping in Romania, an important sector that contributes to the development of rural areas. Romanian’s objectives regarding the development of this sector are based on the adoption of a clear vision and on the support of state, materialised by the National Beekeeping Program. The assessment of the program implementation reveals the following aspect: in the analyzed period 2008-2010, an improvement of the access to funds can be observed, the level of absorption increasing from 16.8% in 2008 to 99.8% in 2010. The consequences following the funds accession are an increase of association forms and a restoration of beekeeping exploitations. Nevertheless, there are still problems in the North East regions of the country, due to lack of information regarding the accession to funds. These problems could be solved by creating a platform that should constantly reunite beekeepers, researchers and specialists of the sector that share their experience and skills, establishing a dialogue between all the actors in the beekeeping chain
