Abstrakt
Abstract	The article offers a territorial analysis of funds acquired by Polish agricultural holdings in the years 2004-2006 via direct payments and through participation in measures of the Rural Development Programme and the Sectoral Operational Programme ‘Restructuring and Modernisation of the Food Sector and Rural Development’. The analysis was based on the data on subsidies obtained in individual spatial units (voivodeship, poviat) as expressed by two indices: PLN per farm and PLN per hectare of agricultural land. It was found that owing to the structure of payments with a predominance of area payments, those areas were preferred that had a favourable farm-size structure and a high, historically developed level of farming. Such an allocation of the EU subsidies had contributed very little to the levelling out of structural differences in Polish farming.

Abstrakt	W pracy przedstawiono uzasadnienie stosowania zasad dobrego rządzenia w polityce rozwoju obszarów wiejskich o niekorzystnych warunkach gospodarowania w rolnictwie (ONW). W celu usprawnienia i poprawy skuteczności zarządzania rozwojem obszarów ONW, które są postrzegane jako ,,wymagające” w sferze rozpoznawania i planowania rozwoju, zaproponowano wykorzystanie typologii systemów gospodarowania w rolnictwie. Takie podejście do zarządzania rozwojem ONW pozwala na elastyczne stosowanie i bardziej efektywne wykorzystanie instrumentów wsparcia kierowanych na te tereny. To może przyczynić się do możliwie skutecznego rozwiązywania zróżnicowanych problemów rozwojowych na ONW, jak również do wdrażania powszechnie akceptowanego europejskiego podejścia do rozwoju wsi i rolnictwa, jakim jest paradygmat zrównoważonego i wielofunkcyjnego rozwoju.
Abstract	A justification of using the good governance rule in the policy of less favoured areas (LFAs) development was presented. Using typology of farming systems for increasing efficiency of public governance in the LFAs development was discussed. This approach allows a flexible implementation of different measures applied in these very diverse areas. Then, public measures and instruments could be more effectively utilized and natural, social and economic problems occurring in LFAs can be solved in a shorter period of time. Also, the European paradigm of rural areas sustainable development involving multifunctionality and diversification of agriculture can be implemented more effectively

Autorka artykułu przeprowadziła w miesiącach sierpień – listopad 2009 r. badania pierwotne wśród właścicieli gospodarstw agroturystycznych województwa pomorskiego. Ich celem było uzyskanie informacji i opinii o działaniach instytucji i organizacji szczebla lokalnego i ogólnokrajowego na rzecz rozwoju agroturystyki. Ankietowani najwyżej ocenili współpracę z Polską Federacją Turystyki Wiejskiej „Gospodarstwa Gościnne” oraz Pomorskim Ośrodkiem Doradztwa Rolniczego w Gdańsku
Abstract	In rural areas with low agricultural potential, the agrotourism provides a financial stability for small and medium-sized farms. It is also a stimulator of the local economy, thus providing a revenue for municipal budgets. A positive action and cooperation in tourism development can be seen in many communities of the Pomeranian province. In the months August - November 2009 the author of this article carried a primary research among the owners of agrotourist farms in the Pomeranian province. The goal was to obtain information and opinions about the activities of local and national level institutions and organizations in the field of agrotourism development. Respondents rated highest the cooperation with the Polish Federation of Rural Tourism Hospitable Farms and the Pomeranian Agricultural Advisory Center in Gdansk.

Abstrakt	Wspólnoty gruntowe są jedną z form grupowego gospodarowania gruntami rolnymi, leśnymi oraz wodnymi. Ich istotą jest uprawnienie do korzystania ze wspólnego gruntu, służące mieszkańcom danego regionu tylko dlatego, że są jego mieszkańcami. Obowiązujące zasady funkcjonowania wspólnot gruntowych, które zostały uregulowane w latach 60ych, do tej pory nie zostały zmienione. Celem artykułu jest określenie sytuacji i zasadności istnienia wspólnot gruntowych we współczesnych warunkach gospodarczych. W szczególności chodzi o to, czy taka właśnie forma władania gruntami nadal ma z jednej strony zasadność istnienia, natomiast z drugiej czy wpisuje się we współczesne realia ekonomiczno-prawne. W pracy została zastosowana metoda dogmatycznej analizy aktów prawnych. Wykorzystano także literaturę przedmiotu oraz orzecznictwo. Ponadto materiał badawczy stanowiły opracowania i raporty pochodzące z MRiRW. Badania wykazały, że m.in. istnienie wspólnot gruntowych jest sprzeczne z założeniami gospodarki wolnorynkowej oraz z założeniem racjonalnego działania rolników oraz podmiotów gospodarczych.
Abstract	The land communities are one of the forms of group farming. They include agricultural, forest and water lands. Their nature lets the farmers make use of common land just because they live in a certain area. The current rules of their organization were established in the 60ies and since then have not been changed. The aim of this article is to determine the situation and the legitimacy of land communities in the present economic environment. Particularly, it conducts to an answer to the question if such forms should exist and if they respond to the present economic and legal real circumstances. The dogmatic analysis of legal acts methods were used, as well as the study of literature and jurisdiction. Besides, the reports of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development were examined. The research has proved that existence of land communities is against the free market and efficient farmers’ and the other parties’ activities

Analizie poddano przeciętne gospodarstwo rolne w 122 regionach, badając nakłady ziemi, pracy, wielkość i strukturę produkcji, koszty, strumienie dopłat i w końcu jego sytuację dochodową. Celem badania było porównanie alokacji i efektywności wspomnianych czynników produkcji w rolnictwie regionów UE. Autorka stawia pytanie, na ile regiony europejskie różnią się względem wykorzystania tychże czynników oraz czy można znaleźć podobieństwa przestrzenne. Doszukuje się także przyczyn owego zróżnicowania uwzględniając różnorakie czynniki
Abstract	The purpose of the article was comparing diverse resources of production factors in farming and displaying relations between them, as well as the effectiveness of their exploitation in agricultural regions of the European Union (EU-25). An average arable farm was analyzed in 122 regions, inspecting the inputs of land and labour, the size and structure of production, costs, subsidies flows, and in the end the income situation. The allocation and effectiveness of production factors in agricultural EU regions were compared. The author is putting up questions, to what extent the European regions differ with respect to the use of these factors as well as whether it is possible to find among them some spatial resemblances. She found also causes of their diversity taking different factors into account.

Abstract	The elaboration estimated relation between return on equity and current financial liquidity in agriculture farms, situated in lubelskie voivodeship. The utilization of equity capital in farms was viable. In general, in research appeared tendency of higher return on equity in farms together with growing level of financial liquidity. The highest increase of return on equity noticed in farms which did not possess any current liabilities. At the same time this group characterized by the lowest return on equity. The highest return on equity was ascertained in farms of “grazing livestock” agriculture type. Together with growing European Size Unit, farms enhanced their efficiency of equity capital utilization. It suggests that farms which, were the strongest from the economic point, enhanced their competitiveness in this area comparing to farms with low economic power.

Abstract	The paper presents an evaluation of assets’ and capital structure diversification in family farms depending on the level of their correlation with the environment. It is stated, that the assets’ structure of the farms under research changed together with the changes in their correlation with the environment. Farms with the strongest contacts with the environment were characterized by the higher ratio of fixed assets than the units with the lower index of correlation. In the external sources of finance of the farms medium and long-term liabilities prevailed. In farms with the strongest correlation with the environment the most rapid growth of short-term liabilities occurred, more than 100% during four years. In these farms the lower ratio of owned capital to fixed assets was noted. The ratio of short-term capital to current assets was higher. In general the low level of use of external sources of finance in farms was determined.

Abstract	This paper contains analysis of costs and benefits connected with trade credit granted by farmers, as factors influencing farms’ growth abilities (understood as ability to enlarge both income and cash stocks). The research was carried out in a farm specialising in large-scale milk production. The researcher proposed three possible solutions concerning trade credit. The analysis revealed that trade credit creates costs which have negative influence on the farm income level. However, resigning from this credit was followed by unfavourable effects. On the other hand, using this credit in cash-flows gave considerable benefits. As a result of the research it was concluded that trade credit is an instrument positively affecting economic results of the farm and, consequently, its growth

Abstract	This article aims to assess the financing of agricultural farms in Poland with leasing in the context of the global financial crisis, encouraging individual companies to use internal sources of funding to a greater extent than from external sources. Analysis and assessment of changes in the value of all leased assets and the value of leased machinery cover the period 2005–2009. The period of the worsening of the economic crisis (2008 – first quarter 2010) was supplemented with an indication of the dynamics of changes in the value of items in lease of statistical data of the Polish Association of Leasing. During the economic slowdown, companies have limited investment financing by leasing. However, the value of agricultural machinery leased was increasing throughout the period considered, which means that leasing is an attractive form of financing investment for farms.

Abstract	In the article the scale of financing of farms from the European Union Funds assigned for rural investments in 2003–2008 is determined, with a particular review of Silesian Voivodeship. The course of application and the level of payments’ realization according to the activities’ scope of each of the supporting funds such as SAPARD, SOP, RDP 2004–2006, RDP – 2007–2013 are described. Most of these activities were addressed to the farmers who fulfulled mentioned criteria, namely to large and developing farms. At the same time the number of the farms using these funds was relatively small. According to research, the majority of funds come from the area payments, and the scale of the farms using this form of support is the biggest one. Payments for non-profitable areas are also important, that can maintain farms if invested properly

Abstract	The elaboration presents the level of financial liquidity in agriculture farms depending on cropland area, agriculture type and European Size Unit. The researched farms has rained current, quick and cash financial liquidity ratios on similar level. The highest level of financial liquidity noticed in “field crops” and “mixed” agriculture type, while the lowest in “rother grazing livestock” type of farms. Low liquidity level recorded rather in bigger farms in the aspect of their economic power, whereas higher ratio described on the contrary small and medium farms. The highest financial liquidity ratio was an attribute of farms with small cropland area, and was a result of limited range of short-term credit utilization. The most efficient way of managing on the financial liquidity level by farmers ascertained in the largest area farms. In this group the liquidity was the lowest, however this level reflected appropriate relation between current assets and liabilities components.

Abstract	The article presents the results of measuring the technical efficiency of agriculture in Poland using two alternative methods of group analysis of the border (frontier analysis): method SFA (Stochastic Frontier Analysis) and DEA method (Data Envelopment Analysis). The main objective of this study was to determine what changes in the efficiency of agricultural activity took place after the Polish accession to the European Union. For this purpose, there were compared the effectiveness of the years 2005 and 2008. The results show that, depending on the econometric model may show the effectiveness of changes either increasing or decreasing trend in the case of the same province.

Abstract	The paper presents results of studies on costs and profitability of milk production in various diets of dairy cows. For the three farms specialized in milk production, were developed two variants of feeding cows on the basis of hay silage produced on the farm. One scenario assumes maintenance of current milk yield of dairy cows and use of concentrates. The second eliminated concentrates from the feed and assumes a reduction of milk yield of cows. Abstract	The article presents the results of researches based on interviews among farm with milk production about possibilities and barriers of this production in Malopolska region. Detailed analyzing were the barriers and opportunities, including: barriers of location and economic. The study shows also deficiencies that hinder the most milk production, and the opportunities that may be used by farmers to production. The article contains information about the changes that the respondents intended to introduce on their farms in the coming years. The findings were presented to the division of farms into groups depending on the number of dairy cows in the herd.

Abstract	The dairy market In the EU is regulated by the Common Market Organization for milk and milk products. This policy is influencing together with changes in the Common Agricultural Policy. Within the Health Check the European Commission proposed a milk quota abolition, which will come into force from the year 2015. This paper presents a scenario analysis of milk quota abolition and the influence on production, price and demand on farm gate milk, butter and skimmed milk powder. Analysis was divided on two groups EU-15 and ten countries whose accession to EU in the year 2004. Special case was made for Germany, France, Great Britain and Poland as the largest milk producers in the EU. Conclusions fl owing from analysis show decline of real milk farm gate price to the year 2020, about 20% in the comparison with the average from the period 2003–2005. The supply of milk will increase with simultaneous decline of butter production and skimmed milk powder. Unfortunately the majority of unfavorable changes will in the group of countries UE-10
