Abstract	In article undertook attempt to asses the financial leverage and rate on equity (ROE) in two agriculture farms which differentiate with the level of cash and financing strategy. The elaboration deals with two types of investments: purchase of a cropland area and animals, which were supported by preferential credit from Agency of Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA). The conducted research indicated that the level of cash did not affected the level of obtain financial leverage, whereas it was necessary to take advantage from foreign capital used in farm activity. The survey confirmed that farmers should not postpone investments because it had negative influence on the level of possible losses

Abstract	The main aim of this paper was to assess the level of human capital in rural areas of Poland and to make its cross-regional comparison. There was proposed the human resource development index or human capital index having six essential elements (education, enterpreunarship, economic activity, employment, health, and migration). In 2007, the opolskie, slaskie and malopolskie provinces were characterised by the highest levels of the human capital in rural areas.The paper provides also the investigation of the link between rural human capital and economic development in Polish regions concluding that in the slaskie, mazowieckie and wielkopolskie provinces high level of rural human capital was accompanied by high level of regional economic development as measured by GDP per capita. The results of human capital study at the individual level (questionnaire study in the sample of 120 farm owners from Mazovia and Podlasie regions, 2009) show that the education is the main determinant of farmer’s human capital improvement.

Abstract	The develop of foreign direct investments (FDI) in Poland in 2000–2007 and their influence on creating the places of the work and enlargement productivity of labour are presented in this article. In the first part of the paper was presented analyze of dynamics level and structure FDI and their spacing location. Moreover, size and structure employment and productivity labour with part of foreign capital was presented. The main conclusion from this analyze is positive influence FDI on increase employment and level of efficiency and high regional diversification. The most number of work places was created in heavy economics (strong economically regions), mainly in voivodships: mazowieckie, wielkopolskie i dolnośląskie.

Title	The production factors substitution in the food industry sector in Poland

Abstract	The article presents the results of parameter estimation of production function in food industry in Poland. Author also calculated the marginal productivity of factors of production and used the marginal rate of substitution as a measure of substitution. It was stated that the output elasticity is higher with regard to labour input than to capital input. It means that exist way to obtain bigger growth in production in food industry by increasing labour input. Moreover, in some branches of food industry the value of marginal rate of substitution indicates that decrease of labour input by one unit requires significant increase of capital input in order to maintain the previous level of production.

Abstract	The aim of the paper is to define the size and differentiation of agricultural tax concerning farms participating in the system of accounting data collection system FADN in years 2004–2007. The agricultural farms were classified according to the area of productive land and by type of the farming. The highest agricultural taxation was found in the smallest farms areas and in types: „ field crops” and „mixed crops”. In these groups of farms low relation of the agricultural tax to the size of support from the government was observed. This relation showed the real decrease of agricultural taxation burdens what resulted in the decrease of market accommodation processes.

Abstract	This paper aims at presenting factors contributing to agricultural income level differentiation in the EU. Statistical data provided by the European Commission and French agricultural chambers was used. The importance issue of cost structure for agricultural profitability was discussed. Certain UE member states have a high share of land lease, bank loan interest payments or farm worker remuneration in their cost structures. The significance of the definitional difference between agricultural income and the income of farmers was emphasized. Taking into account income from non-agricultural sources leads to a lower differentiation of farmer income. One of the principal determinants of income differentiation is varying farm structures across member states. Finally, the impact of the construction of the agricultural support system on income differentiation should not be neglected

Abstract	In the last few years, a dynamic development of the service sector has been observed in Poland. An increase in the importance of services is a result of a civilisation development, and it is getting more and more meaningful due to an increasing number of employees and the value of provided services. The main aim of this study was to analyze the preferences of consumers from big cities (on the example of Warsaw) on choosing the place and the frequency of dining in restaurants. I have tried to find the relations between the chosen demographic indicators (age, sex, place of stay) and dining habits. It was noticed that dining in restaurants, for almost all taking part in the survey, is rather occasional than common. However, for some of the respondents, it is an everyday (or almost everyday) way of dining. It was also noticed that dining out is common for young people at the ages between 25 and 29.

Abstract	The research aimed at making an inventory of recent and ongoing fruit market and fruit product innovations and at assessing what new or improved features they offer, and whether consumers are able to identify and/or recognise them. The list of innovations obtained has been coded, categorised, sorted, and reduced in subsequent stages. First, the examples received were categorised according to the Oslo Manual definitions. Second, product and marketing innovations were selected, as they are the only ones that were likely to be recognised by consumers. Next, the analysis revealed that the novelties these innovations offered related to Convenience, Health, Differentiation, Target Group, Information, Sensory Characteristics, In Home and/or Out of Home and Quality. Some innovations offered only one novel aspect, whereas others offered multiple aspects. Interrelationships between novel aspects are discussed for those innovations that offered a combination of aspects.

Abstrakt	Opracowanie ukazuje wielkości i struktury przepływów materiałowych w sektorze rolno-żywnościowym w Polsce w świetle modelu przepływów międzygałęziowych. Analiza współzależności między poszczególnymi agregatami agrobiznesu wykazała, że w Polsce w dalszym ciągu w rolnictwie i przemyśle spożywczym dominujące znaczenie odgrywa produkcja surowców wewnątrz tych sektorów, czyli obrót wewnętrzny. Sektor rolno-żywnościowy w Polsce znajduje się we wczesnym stadium przeobrażeń w kierunku nowoczesności. W zaopatrzeniu materiałowym agrobiznesu przede wszystkim musi wzrosnąć rola sfery pierwszej, w tym głównie sektora usługowego. Głównym warunkiem przeprowadzenia zmian w tym zakresie w Polsce, jest przede wszystkim wzrost gospodarczy i objęcie polskiego sektora rolno-żywnościowego instrumentami WPR UE.
Abstract	The objective of the article was to analyze the volume and the structure of inputs-outputs in agrifood sector in Poland. The analysis of the interdependence of the agribusiness aggregates shows that in Polish agriculture and food industry the internal production is still of the highest importance. The agrifood sector in Poland is on the early step of development. In material supply of agribusiness the importance of the first sphere, especially services, ought to increase. The main condition to change the situation in Poland is to generate economic growth and be able to benefit from the CAP instruments.

Abstrakt	Wielkość pogłowia owiec zależy od polityki rolnej prowadzonej w zakresie produkcji owczarskiej. W okresach sprzyjających następował wzrost liczebności owiec. W szczególności taka sytuacja miała miejsce do 1986 r. Później produkty uzyskiwane z owiec straciły na ważności, nastąpił spadek pogłowia, z którym wiązały się zmiany w liczbie gospodarstw zajmujących się produkcją owczarską. Udział owiec utrzymywanych w sektorze prywatnym, w tym w gospodarstwach indywidualnych wzrósł do ponad 90%. Zmniejszeniu ulegało wsparcie krajowe dla gospodarstw, co powodowało spadek opłacalno .ci i mniejsze zainteresowanie produkcją owczarską. Na rynku pozostały gospodarstwa produkujące mięso jagnięce. Dla tych przedsiębiorstw bardzo ważne wydaje się stworzenie krajowego rynku mięsa jagnięcego.
Abstract	In the paper changes in sheep farms in Poland was presented. The research data used in the article were taken from GUS, IERiGŻ-PIB and farms in region Podlasie. Agricultural policy influence on sheep population and number of sheep farms. In 1986 year were around 5 million sheep. Economic situation on sheep producer were very good. Crisis has caused decrease price and demand of wool in Poland. Sheep population has decreased in 2001 year to 331 thousands. In XXI century in private sector were over 90% sheep population. The big influence of sheep farms have got profitability. Sheep meat promotion in Poland can cause growth economic results and number of sheep farms in Poland.

Abstract	In a research author has performed an analysis of the productivity of Polish agriculture in the years 1998-2006, using the Malmquist index of productivity. The results of the calculations have shown in which period productivity has increased or decreased, and what was a general trend in the considered period. The usage of decomposition of calculated indices led to the decision, what factors have an impact on changes of productivity. The presented results of the research included the synthetic results covering the whole period analyzed.

Abstrakt	Celem opracowania jest określenie stopnia koncentracji na polskim rynku nasiennym. Posłużono się wskaźnikami koncentracji CRn, HHI oraz Giniego. Analizą objęto okres 1994-2008. Stwierdzono, że konkurencja na rynku nasiennym wzrasta ze względu na rosnąca liczbę odmian w doborze, ale zmiany w koncentracji uwzględniające udziały odmian w rynku były małe. Poziom koncentracji polskiego rynku nasiennego według gatunków uwzględniający udziały poszczególnych hodowców także malał, ale w polskiej hodowli roślin zachodziły procesy koncentracji, które doprowadziły do dominacji pojedynczych firm w hodowli określonego gatunku. Wzrost konkurencji na rynku wiązał się więc z koncentracją i specjalizacją w polskiej hodowli roślin. Mimo to udział polskich firm w rynku malał ze względu na znaczne ograniczenie popytu na nasiona.
Abstract	This paper presents results of estimates of concentration changes on Polish seed market in 1994- 2008. Series of CR4, Herfindahl and Gini indices were employed to ascertain the level of concentration. The results gained shows that the concentration was significantly lower for important agricultural species such as wheat, barley and potato. For other crops concentration level do not decrease significantly in spite of that the number of varieties rose twice during last 15 years. The concentration of the breeders also lower significantly, but only in important agricultural species. In Polish breeding sector it was observed that it becoming be strongly concentrated in last years, with two dominating breeders groups. Though concentration in Polish breeding sector is much higher, the economic strength of the Polish breeders weakened because of limitation of certified seed use in Polish agriculture and competition of foreign breeders.

In the centre of the analysis are the programs´ focuses and most important measures. The analysis showed, that the examined programs show differences in the area of financing. They reveal both in the focuses as in the promotion of certain measures. In the two programs dominate different philosophies concerning the financing of concrete measures and main activities. They result from the disparities in economic development and the quality of local human capital

Abstrakt	W pracy podjęto próbę oceny roli ANR w powiększaniu i tworzeniu gospodarstw rolnych. Analizę przeprowadzono w oparciu o informacje pochodzące z raport ów z działalności Agencji, opracowań wewnętrznych i dostępnej literatury. Zaprezentowane wyniki świadczą o znacznym wkładzie ANR w kształtowanie struktury agrarnej, szczególnie tam, gdzie występowała koncentracja gruntów przejętych do Zasobu WRSP.
Abstract	This paper presents the analysis of Agricultural Property Agency’s (APAs) activity, conditions and factors which determine it and its impact on the improvement on the spatial structure of agricultural farms in Poland. It is estimated that agricultural farms extended their areas by 1.7 million ha due to the conclusions of more than 320 thousand sale and lease contracts, which gives c.a. 5.2 ha per one contract on average. As of the end of December 2008 the purchasers and leases of the large (exceeding 100 ha) arranged properties of the Stock used 1.9 million ha of land on the basis of 5.2 thousand contracts, which gives 363 ha per one contract on average. Changes in agrarian structure depend on many factors, not only on the supply of APA Stock land but on general situation in agriculture.
