Abstract	In this article the level of fiscal burden in terms of threat of brewery enterprises bankruptcy was discussed. On the basis on chairmen of enterprises opinions the Author stated that too high fiscal duties (e.g. excise tax) are significant factor limited breweries development. Tax government policy has tremendous importance for the beer industry representatives. On the one hand, excessive fiscal impact could decreasing tax revenues, on the other hand, it can lead to production and sales effectiveness reduction, and therefore threat of enterprises bankruptcy.

Abstract	The aim of this papers is to assess the importance of innovation for permanent changes of the food-processing industry. The authors note that innovations determine the dynamic and directions of firm development and they are the factor of domestic and international competitiveness. Furthermore, the innovativeness leads to the increase of firm effi ciency and synergy between particular elements of the organization. Finally, the innovations shape the tastes and inclinations of consumers.The above evaluation was made on the basis of existing research outcomes for the firm innovativeness. In consequence, the authors also defined the list of potential research areas, which should be investigated in respect of changeability of the firm activity environment and consumer preferences. For this reason the authors have made the documentation study of publications, which were focused on innovativeness, modernization and economic situation of foodprocessing industry

Abstract	The elaboration presents chosen results of conducted research in dairy cooperatives in the 2000–2008 in aspect of efficiency of financial strategies. It evidenced the increased progression of improvements in cooperatives profitability. The strongest influence of these ratios was noticed in dairies which had had the highest equity and shareholders funds. Furthermore in these group noted also weaker relation between these funds and financial liquidity, whereas this financial indicator recorded stability and favorable level comparing to remain groups. The cooperative dairies which noticed higher profits and equity capital, decided to enlarge shareholders funds. It had resulted in secure of further development conducted activity. The application of net profit in cooperatives was useful in effectiveness’ of financial situation assessment

Abstract	Good governance principles are considered by the European Union to be a basic indicator serving in the assessment of the quality of the Community’s public management. Therefore, these principles should be treated as a reference point in the process of building all the necessary elements of the system of implementation of the EU tasks and activities. The same applies to the Common Agricultural Policy and to supporting within it the development of agriculture and rural areas. Following this the evaluation system should respect the good governance principles in most complex way that is possible and achievable. However, up to now, the development of the EU evaluation culture has not reached the level of comprehensive actual fulfillment of these principles and for the evaluation process to lead to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the CAP. Moreover, if the EU involvement in supporting the development of social responsibility of the agriculture is worth underlining it should be conducted via the introduction of different rules and regulations applicable in this sector, which combined with the competition typical of this part of the economy should lead to development of socially responsible agriculture.

Abstract	This article presents the problem of evolution of agri-business sector and its ability to function in the era of globalization and European integration. Describing the successive stages of development of Polish food the author wonders how they influenced the international cooperation of Polish enterprises and the opportunities arising from their positioning in the global economy. Special regard was given to privatization of enterprises in transition, subjected to the transformation and included in agri – food industry in the EU structures. The author argues that the mere inclusion of our country to the countries of market economy was a move to allow to join the globalized economic structures and legitimated active participation in international economic cooperation. It is considered that six years of operation in the EU structures changed our country both economically and politically. The EU membership has changed the structure of the economy and has continued transformation of privatization and modernization of most companies. Subsequent market-oriented transformation of corporate behavior forced the agribusiness sector and the high positioning of our economy to the international arena. Operation in the EU structures has opened a great opportunity for the Polish agri-business, for all its divisions, and only from wealth in the form of human and physical capital depends its development on a global scale

Abstract	The paper deals methods of solid biomass estimation for energy purposes. Several ways of estimations are available at present what causes discrepancy in the figures. In the article useful methods were described for local government units, and enterprises interested in using biomass for energy purposes. Estimation methods of wood, straw and energy crops were presented. Estimating of resources of renewable sources, especially biomass, could became a significant practical problem, which can be meet by local government representatives, entrepreneurs interested in renewable sources technology development. Methods of estimating have complex and diverse character what could be seen like an obstacle in define raw material sources in farms for instance. Farms have many specific characteristics within technical and logistic organization, are placed in specific localizations sometimes very hard to cultivate because of agro technical factors. Those conditions dot not exclude the possibility of biomass estimating in the scale of province, poviat, commune or even in single farm. The present estimating methods need to be adopted by preparing common measuring standards which allows to prepare reliable calculations of biomass for fuel and energy sector. Methods of estimating are improving during process of research and current updating.

Abstract	The aim of the paper was to estimate the support for investment process. The support started in 2002, in the frame of SAPARD actions, and then it has been continued in the frame of the two pillars of Common Rural Policy during 2004–2006 as two independent actions of a similar character. Nowadays the measure of modernisation of agricultural holdings has been very well valued by the beneficiaries (2007–2013). During the first call for proposals the beneficiaries handed in 18.3 thousands applications, the applied support was 2371.5 million PLN. In 2008 applications haven’t been collected. In 2009 there were many more submitted applications, 24.8 thousands of applications were accepted and the granted support reached the level of 3798.2 million PLN.

Title	Foreign trade with vegetables and their products in Poland and the European Union in the years 2002–2008

Abstract	Foreign trade pays an important role in the development of both world and Polish economy. In the years 2002–2008 Poland reported negative balance of foreign trade of all kinds of products, while since 2003 the balance of trade with agricultural products was positive. In the structure of Polish export of agricultural products in the year 2008, fruits and vegetables paid a dominant role (ca. 20% of total export). In the years 2002–2008 the European Union was the net importer of all kinds of vegetables and vegetable products. Since the year 2004 when 10 New Member States accessed to the UE, the enlarged Community was the net importer of fresh tomatos, onions, peppers, courgettes, legumes and sweet corn. As the processed vegetables are concerned the EU net imported frozen vegetables, canned and dry tomatos. The positive trade balance was reported for canned vegetables and tomato puree. As the trade between Poland and other Member States is concerned, Poland reports positive balance of both fresh and processed vegetables. In the years 2002–2008 in Poland dominated positive and growing foreign trade balance with fresh vegetables and their products. It was possible thanks to positive foreign trade balance of processed vegetables, because the balance of trade with fresh vegetables was negative. Main exporting countries of Polish vegetables and their products were Holland, Germany and United Kingdom. Poland imported such products mostly from the UE, especially from Spain and Holland.

Abstrakt	Analiza wdrażania PROW wykazała, że był to program, z którego beneficjenci chętnie korzystali. Wynika to poniekąd z jego specyfiki, bowiem został on ukierunkowany na wsparcie dużej liczby niewielkich kwotowo inwestycji. Ogólna liczba wniosków przyjętych do realizacji w regionie kujawsko-pomorskim w ramach analizowanych działań wyniosła 29,1 tys., co stanowiło 6,8% ogółu wniosków w skali kraju. Zestawiając liczbę wdrożonych wniosków z liczbą indywidualnych gospodarstw rolnych można stwierdzić, że 38,4% gospodarstw wzięło udział w którymś z działań PROW. Największe zainteresowanie towarzyszyło działaniu ukierunkowanemu na dostosowanie gospodarstw rolnych do standardów UE (45,4% ogółu wniosków). Łączna wielkość środków rozdysponowanych w ramach PROW przekroczyła 713 mln zł (10,7% ogólnej puli środków w kraju), co czyniło z tego programu równoważny instrument wsparcia rolnictwa obok równolegle wdrażanego SPO Rolnictwo. Analiza alokacji środków PROW podkreśliła dominującą rolę działania ukierunkowanego na dostosowanie gospodarstw do standardów UE (61,2% budżetu PROW).
Abstract	Analysis of the implementation of RDP has showed that it was a program which the beneficiaries profited willingly from. It was caused by its specificity, because it was aimed at supporting a large number of small investments. Total number of applications accepted for implementation in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region in the analysed operations was 29,1 thousand, representing 6.8% of the total number of applications at the national level. When comparing the number of accepted applications with the number of individual farms in the region we can see that 38.4% of farms took part in one of the activities of RDP. The greatest interest was noticed in actions connected with farm adaptation to the EU standards (45,4% of applications). The total amount of funds allocated through RDP exceeded 713 million PLN (10,7% of the total amount in the country), which makes this program equivalent to the parallel instrument of agricultural support implemented as Sector Operational Program Agriculture. The analysis of RDP funds allocation underlined the predominant role of activities targeted at adaptation to the EU standards (61,2% of RDP budget).
