| Abstract | Within plants grown by human being, in economical and agronomical point of view, cereals are the most important group of crops. Cereals, especially bread made of them, are major staple food in the world. For thousands years, from the moment of their domestication, ancient species of hulled wheats, like einkorn (Triticum monococcum) and emmer (Triticum dicoccum), were basic part of people diet. It was so until modern wheats (Triticum aestivum) became popular. In some world regions ancient wheats are cultivated nowadays. Adapting their farming techniques to modern agriculture and organic farming is related with increasing popularity of healthy eating. Results of organic farming techniques and cultivation research of einkorn and emmer are being presented in this article. Hulled wheats are tolerant to various biotic as well as abiotic stress conditions and can be grown in poor soil condition providing the farmer an advantage to take the crop. This also opens opportunities for manufacturers to seek the untapped market. |

| Słowa kluczowe | renewable energy, wood pellet stoves, raw material, imports, quality, rural household |
| Key words | renewable energy, wood pellet stoves, raw material, imports, quality, rural household |
| Abstrakt | Biomass is a major source of renewable energy in the EU and Poland, stimulating the growth of the wood pellet sector. Wood pellet demand is stimulated by a complex interaction of market forces and policies including EU climate, energy, and environmental regulations, Poland’s program to improve air quality, and subsidies for the replacement of inefficient stoves used by households. This article focuses on the growth of the wood pellet industry, imports and exports in Poland, and wood pellet quality and use by households. The main issues faced by the EU wood pellet sector between 2013 and 2016 are further considered in the context of opinions of Polish wood pellet manufacturers. Industry opinions were collected in response to an open-ended question that probed for the main issues faced by wood pellet producers during the survey implemented by the authors in 2019. Respondents identified difficulties in obtaining raw material for pellet production and poor pellet quality as major problems. Although the majority did not feel concerned about competition from imported wood pellets, a small number of respondents viewed such competition as a problem reflecting the reversal of decreasing imports in 2017. Overall, the domestic wood pellet industry can be expected to grow because of increasing pressure to expand the use of renewable energy and will be driven by the household sector switching to more efficient, wood burning stoves. Additionally, the expanding area of private Polish forests may become a source of much-needed raw material for wood pellet manufacturing. |

| Tytuł | IMPACT OF INTERNATIONALIZATION ON THE CAPITAL STRUCTURE OF COMMERCIAL COMPANIES |
| Title | |
| Słowa kluczowe | multinational companies, indebtedness, corporate finance, capital structure |
| Key words | |
| Abstrakt | International enterprises (in this paper, international companies are understood as companies that sell their products and services abroad) are precious for the national economy because, through their experience in international sales, they stimulate the development of other companies in the same industry and their subcontractors. The knowledge that these companies have gained on international markets through the spillover effect spreads on their suppliers, as well as through imitation or cooperation on their competitors. Also, international companies (in the meaning: domestic export companies) are often the first to use new technological solutions and product innovations, which contributes to the modernization of products in the entire business sector. Dynamic and robust international companies usually also build networks with entities from different countries in order to cooperate on development, negotiation, and sales, which also encourages similar activities of their competitors. For all these reasons, national governments should take action to help to export companies, or at least monitor the problems that such entities report. The purpose of the publication is to draw attention to the higher demand for the debt that exists in such enterprises and to discuss the reasons for this. In particular, the purpose of the publication was to verify 2 research hypotheses: H1: Internationalization increases indebtedness of a company measured with the debt to equity ratio, and H2: The scale of internationalization (measured with the share of foreign sales to total sales) is positively related to the level of indebtedness (measured with the debt to equity ratio). For both hypotheses we found no grounds to reject these hypotheses. In the opinion of the authors, the demand for debt from exporters should be monitored, especially in terms of the availability of this form of financing for exporters from the SME sector. The paper used the Arellano-Bond model and data downloaded from the Orbis database for years 2007 – 2017. |

| Abstrakt | The purpose of the article is to substantiate the emergence of new – and the development of existing – factors and segmentation criteria for meeting consumer needs and increasing the efficiency of marketing activities for Ukrainian enterprises under modern market conditions. The object of the research is to analyze the process of development and any increases in the effectiveness of marketing segmentation. The subject of research is the theoretical, methodical and practical provisions of the formation of targeted marketing segmentation for the markets of Ukrainian enterprises. The goal of the research is to evaluate the direction and type of market segmentation that determines future target segments for enterprises and their share of existing markets. We present the characteristics of enterprises that work on market relations for the production and sale of computer devices that provide network connections. Our method was to estimate the direction and type of market segmentation in order to determine the prospective segments for such enterprises and their share of the existing market. In order to evaluate the attractiveness of target segments for Ukrainian enterprises, a survey was conducted to validate customer reactions. The analyzed variables included: the length of time a person uses his/her computer device; the reasons for possible changes and important settings when choosing a computer device; the timeframe for buying a computer device. The results of the questionnaire are separated by gender, social and geographic factors, as well as by family composition and age of respondents, taking into account the stages of their life cycle, as well as their educational level and professions – for three enterprises. Particular attention was paid to the psychographic factors of occupation and social class. The questionnaire also contained a self-assessment section on the psychological qualities of the consumer and on their psychography, which we analyzed. The hypotheses presented by individual factors and the consumer segment, separated by the results of the survey, and the analysis of the respondents' answers, are presented. Confirmation of the hypotheses and isolation of the consumer segment are given. |

| Słowa kluczowe | influencer marketing, marka, influencer, wizerunek, ambasador marki |
| Key words | influencer marketing, brand, influencer, image, brand ambassador |
Przeprowadzono analizę literatury przedmiotu i materiałów źródłowych, wykorzystano metodę studium przypadku i sondażu diagnostycznego. |
| Abstract | The study aims to explore the phenomenon of influencer marketing and determine the influence of ambassadors and influencers on brand recognisability and creating a brand image. The paper defines the term influencer and investigates the use of Facebook and Instagram to propel a brand. The study uses the examples of 4 brands (Żywiec Zdrój, Huawei, Daniel Wellington and NA-KD) to describe the contribution of ambassadors and influencers to the brand image and product promotion. The study involved a questionnaire carried out to verify the research assumption regarding the impact of influencers on brand recognition and image, as well as consumers’ purchasing decisions. The brands Daniel Wellington and NA-KD were helpful in illustrating the potential existing in influencers with limited number of followers on social platforms while brands like Żywiec Zdrój and Huawei cooperated with widely recognized influencers who are also their ambassadors (Martyna Wojciechowska and Kuba Wojewódzki). The conducted research showed that brand ambassadors and influencers increase brand recognition and influence its image as perceived by consumers. The influencer's recommendation has a greater impact on purchasing decisions than brand ambassadors. The study involved the review of literature and source materials, the case study method and the diagnostic survey. |

| Abstrakt | This paper aims to provide preliminary evidence about the existence of horizontal integration between the rapeseed markets in Ukraine (UA) and the European Union (EU). To this end, both a trade analysis and a price analysis were carried out. In particular, the trade analysis was performed using yearly trade flows between the UA and EU, whereas price co-movement was assessed by means of linear vector error correction model (VECM) applied to weekly prices for rapeseed from 2008 to 2018. Our findings provide evidence of strong integration between the UA and EU markets in terms of the trade of rapeseeds, rape cake, and rape oil, as well as high horizontal rapeseed price transmission between the two economies. |

| Abstrakt | The aim of the study was to analyse innovations implemented in the milk and meat industries, and their impact on increasing competitiveness. The study showed that the 2010-12 period saw the most product and process innovations being introduced. On the other hand, innovations in marketing were found to be more popular in 2013. Three groups of similar innovations were distinguished. The milk industry stood out when it comes to the extent of innovations implemented. Fewer innovations were found in the poultry meat industry. Beef and pork meat processing was the least innovative. The innovativeness of enterprises is greater with larger numbers of employees and the increase in scope of their field of operation. The implementation of innovations resulted in: improvement of the quality of goods (services), increase in stock, productive capabilities and revenues from sales, emergence of new markets, increase in competitiveness and prestige of the firm. Those are confirmed by the very good performance of foreign trade and better competitiveness rates of Polish meat producers. |

| Abstrakt | The paper presents the definition of innovation, advancement and development of the Fintech sector on the global scale, with particular emphasis put on Poland. Fintechs, i.e. IT companies that provide increasingly more modern solutions for customers active on the financial markets are not fully described in the literature on the subject. The aim of the paper was to present a comprehensive definition of Fintech, show the scale of this type of ventures around the world and in Poland, and analyze the forms and potential of the cooperation of Fintech companies with financial services entities, in particular with the banks. The article uses a critical analysis of the literature of mainly English-language studies from the last 5 years, indicating the state of financial innovations and their importance on the global scale. The author analyzed statistical data from PWC Global Fintech Report, CitiGPS reports, Capgemini reports and KPMG, which enabled her to present the value of global investments in Fintech. The performed cause and effect analysis indicates that investments in the Fintech sector are becoming more and more popular, that this market will be growing due to cooperation, among others, with the banks which want to meet the requirements of their customers using more advanced technologies. |

| Abstrakt | As a result of concerns about the long-term sustainability of globalized retail trade and the stronger presence of health conscious consumer behaviour, governments and groups of conscious consumers worldwide are increasingly focusing on the promotion and development of local food systems and small-scale retail chains and the production of quality local food products to promote the market. In our paper, we would like to give an overview of community-led alternative types of local food systems, with particular attention to shopping community-type consumer and consumer communities. We also describe the main results of our primary research in the population and the shopping community. During the questionnaire we revealed general consumer behaviour and the demand and attitude of local food, the popularity of the customer communities in the settlement of the respondents. In the survey conducted among members of the consumer community, we looked at the analytical areas designated as a target in the population questionnaire for the purpose of comparability and our aim was to explore the sociometrics and lifestyles of communities as well as their community experiences and possible developments. Our hypothesis is that there is a close correlation between the respondents with higher education and income and the preferences of local food. Furthermore, it is assumed that there is a significant difference between the food consumption behaviors of the two samples examined. |

Furthermore, it is assumed that there is a significant difference between the food consumption behaviors of the two samples examined. |

| Abstrakt | The article concerns the effects of the Russian embargo on apple producers in Poland. Scientific literature is quite poor in this field, mainly information articles in industry literature and media information are available. The literature was reviewed in this respect and two studies (questionnaire and interview) were carried out. The information obtained allowed us to draw conclusions about the very large negative impact of the embargo on the apple market and to learn about its characteristics. New markets do not generate sufficient demand, in 2018 apple prices dropped below production costs, but this does not reflect in a drop in prices in stores, which means that price speculations take place, and the situation is used by realtors. It is necessary to quickly return to the Russian market, because soon it will be unrecoverable for Polish fruit farmers. It is also necessary to put pressure on the European Union's policy, because nowadays it is the Polish farmers who bear its effects to the greatest extent. |

Do analizy produkcji owoców wykorzystano dane pochodzące z bazy Faostat, a wielkości eksportu – dane z bazy Comtrade. |
| Abstract | The aim of the study was to examine the changes in production and export of raspberries and sour cherries, which are the domain of Polish production on the international markets, in the countries of Eastern and Southern Europe during the 2006-2017. There was used data from Faostat database for the analysis of fruit production, and from Comtrade database for the analysis of export volume. Study points to the development of production and an increase in the export of raspberries in countries with a smaller area of cultivation of this fruit crops and stability in countries with a large area of crops of raspberries. In the case of sour cherries, in most countries, both large and small area plantings, production potential, and volume of production of fruit of this species declined. The export of sour cherries increased particularly from countries with less potential in the production of sour cherries. The development of the production and export of raspberries from countries with lower production capacity may in the future be competition for Poland on the international markets. |

| Słowa kluczowe | mortgage crisis, banking sector, commercial banks, financial stability, Spain, Poland |
| Key words | mortgage crisis, banking sector, commercial banks, financial stability, Spain, Poland |
| Abstrakt | The aim of this article is to establish whether the symptoms of an emerging housing bubble can be observed on the Polish market. The concept of this study is based on a comparison between economic, financial and demographic conditions at the time of the mortgage crisis in Spain and the current situation on the housing market and on the market of housing loans granted to households in Poland. An analysis of two economic indicators, (i) housing loans to households-to-GDP expressed in growth rates and (ii) rates of house price growth, does not indicate that a speculative bubble occurs in Poland now. This, however, does not mean that the conclusions drawn from the Spanish crisis cannot and should not have a bearing on the Polish market, especially in terms of potential consequences the crisis may have for the banking sector. |

Umowa ta obejmuje m.in. kwestie dostępu do rynków rolnych obu Stron, zakładając liberalizację barier taryfowych i pozataryfowych. |
| Abstract | In 2018, the European Union and Japan concluded an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), which is one of the widest and most comprehensive trade agreements signed by the Parties to date. This Agreement covers issues related to access to agricultural markets of both Parties, assuming the liberalization of tariff and non-tariff barriers. Due to the greater importance of the agricultural sector in EU exports to Japan than vice versa, as well as the high level of protection of the Japanese market, the Agreement is of great importance for the EU, including Poland’s agri-food exporters. The aim of the paper is to determine the possible effects of EPA on the development of exports of agri-food products from EU countries, in particular from Poland to Japan. The study was based on EPA text analysis and the latest trade data. |

| Key words | European Union, oilseeds, vegetable oils, oilmeals, production, consumption, trade |
| Abstrakt | W artykule przedstawiono ocenę zmian jakie nastąpiły w produkcji, zużyciu i handlu nasionami oleistymi i produktami ich przerobu w Unii Europejskiej w latach 2000-2013. |
| Abstract | The article presents an assessment of changes that have occurred in the production, consumption and trade of oilseeds and their processing products in the European Union in the years 2000-2013. The analysis of changes was carried out for 28 EU countries, including the division into old and new Member States, based on available data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAOSTAT). Since the beginning of the 21st century, the production and consumption of oilseeds in the European Union has been dynamically increasing following the rapidly growing demand for vegetable oils in the industrial sector (in biofuel production), with small changes in the food sector and rapidly growing demand for oilmeals in the feed sector, due to the development of livestock production (mainly poultry production) and a change in animal feeding technology. Despite the dynamic development of oilseed production and processing (faster in the new Member States than the old), the European Union has low self-sufficiency in the field of oil products and remains a permanent importer of oilseeds (including especially oilmeals). |

| Słowa kluczowe | pogłowie trzody, produkcja wieprzowiny, eksport, import, ceny |
| Key words | pig population, pork production, exports, imports, price |
| Abstrakt | Przedstawiono zmiany w podaży wieprzowiny w Polsce w latach 2001-2017. Pogłowie trzody chlewnej charakteryzowało się tendencją spadkową we wszystkich grupach zwierząt. W latach 2001-2007 import żywca wzrastał rocznie o 71 tys. szt., a w latach 2008-2017 o 603,5 tys. szt. W średnim okresie tempo wzrostu cen w UE i w Polsce będzie niewielkie (0,8% rocznie), a Polska pozostanie nadal znacznym importerem żywych świń. |
| Abstract | Changes in pork supply in Poland in the years 2001-2017 were presented. The pig population was characterized by a downward trend in all groups of animals. In the years 2001-2007, livestock imports grew annually by 71 thousand pcs, and in the years 2008-2017 by 603.5 thousand pcs. The increasing scale of livestock import slowed the decline in meat production. Livestock export was characterized by high variability and was small. Meat imports were characterized by a growing scale and pace (almost 32% per annum in 2001-2008 and 3.1% in 2009-2017). Meat exports grew, and the growth rate since 2009 exceeded the scale of import growth, which improved the negative balance of meat trade. Exports of pork products were characterized by a rapid upward trend, and small imports. Pork prices in Poland "followed" average prices in EU countries. In the medium term, the growth rate of prices in the EU and in Poland will be small (0.8% per year). In the medium term Poland will remain a significant livestock importer. |

| Key words | sugar, sugar cane, sugar beets, world market, business cycle, price volatility |
| Abstract | In the economic history of the world, sugar is considered one of the first global products, and the supply-demand in the global market has had a major impact on the development of local markets. The Polish sugar sector has been under the influence of the world market for many years. The reform of the sugar market regulation system in the EU has made the EU and domestic markets increasingly dependent on the world market. The production potential of the domestic sugar industry is greater than the demand on the internal market and the excess supply is directed to exports. The global market is characterized by cyclical fluctuations, which are determined by the cyclical nature of sugar cane cultivation. The length of the business cycle has been reduced to 2-3 years. The world market prices affect domestic sales and export prices and the financial performance of the sugar industry. |

| Abstract | The aim of the paper is to present the main direction of change in global prices of farm and food products during 2000-2018, determination of the level of change and indication of the reasons for these phenomena. The main source for the data was average annual indices of food prices from the FAO. The analyses showed that in 2011 global food prices reached a level over two and a half times higher than in 2000, but during the period under investigation they increased by 85%. The greatest increase was in the price of vegetable oils due to the development of biofuels. The largest fluctuations in prices were noted in the sugar and dairy markets, and the smallest in the meat market. It was concluded that during longer periods demand had the greatest influence on global food prices, while during shorter periods it was drastic changes in supply. |

| Słowa kluczowe | Rosja, rynek wołowiny, samowystarczalność |
| Key words | Russia, beef market, self-sufficiency |
Do pomiaru dynamiki wykorzystano indeksy o stałej i zmiennej podstawie. |
| Abstract | The aim of the analysis is to identify the key changes that occurred on the Russian beef market in the years 1990-2017. The research covered all elements of the market. The basis for the assessment data were taken from the Russian Statistical Yearbooks and from the US Foreign Agricultural Service USDA. Dynamics were indexed on fixed and variable bases. The analysis allows to conclude that all elements of the market were reduced during the period under consideration. The beef population and production as well as its imports and consumption decreased. This happened despite the support from the state. This support (subsidies) is relatively small compared to the support of pig or poultry farming. However, it allowed to create the basis of beef cattle breeding and its development in the long term. |
