Abstrakt	W artykule przedstawiono mechanizm oddziaływania zmian w aktywności gospodarczej na wielkość i strukturę retransferów do sektora rolnego. Zwrócono uwagę na dwa czynniki: przekształcenia w dochodzie narodowym oraz sytuację na rynku pracy, wyrażoną za pośrednictwem stopy bezrobocia. Okres badawczy obejmował lata 1990-2009 a analizie poddano 21 krajów i jedno ugrupowanie integracyjne. Zastosowano metodologię OECD dla oszacowania przepływu nadwyżki ekonomicznej pomiędzy rolnictwem a pozostałymi sektorami gospodarki. Kraje zostały sklasyfikowane w trzech grupach o różnym poziomie rozwoju gospodarczego. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, iż w badanym obszarze powiązań pomiędzy czynnikami makroekonomicznymi a strukturą retransferów nie można wyrokować o ich uniwersalnym charakterze dla całej populacji. Specyfika poszczególnych rynków krajowych wymusza stosowanie odmiennej struktury i wielkości retransferów. Procesy globalizacji i liberalizacji nie doprowadziły do ujednolicenia reakcji w polityce rolnej w stosunku do wyróżnionych czynników.
Abstract	In the article the mechanism of the influence of changes in economic activity as a consequence of the size and the structure of retransfers to the agricultural sector, was presented. We paid attention to two factors: economic growth and situation of the labor market expressed in terms of the unemployment rate. The analytical period included years 1990-2009, and the analysis was based on 21 states and one integrative formation. OECD methodology was applied for the estimation of the flow of the economic surplus among agriculture sectors remaining and of the economy. States were classified into three groups with different levels of the economic development. The obtained results indicate, that in investigated area of connections between macroeconomic factors and the structure of retransfers one cannot indicate a universal tendency for the entire population. The specificity of individual internal markets extorts the application of the different structure and size of retransfers. Globalization processes and liberalization did not lead to a unified reaction in the agricultural policy in relation to favored macroeconomic a factors.

Abstrakt	Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie znaczenia polityki państwa w funkcjonowaniu rynku ziemi rolniczej w Polsce ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem takich działań, jak nacjonalizacja i prywatyzacja ziemi. Działania te zostały przedstawione na tle rynku ziemi rolniczej w Polsce. W ramach polityki kształtowania ustroju rolnego państwo wpływa na rozdysponowanie ziemi pomiędzy sektor prywatny i publiczny. Wspierany jest przepływ ziemi do przedsiębiorstw mających status gospodarstwa rodzinnego, co ogranicza rozwój innych jednostek gospodarczych. Jest to sprzeczne z racjonalnością ekonomiczną, gdyż w efekcie takiego modelowania rolnictwa blokowany jest przepływ ziemi do tych przedsiębiorstw, które wykazują największą zdolność do zaspakajania potrzeb konsumentów.
Abstract	This article presents the importance of state policy in the agricultural land market in Poland, with particular emphasis on measures such as nationalization and privatization of land. These activities are presented against the background of the agricultural land market in Poland. The policy on the agricultural system of the state affects the disposal of land between the private and public sectors. The flow of land to the farms with the status of family farms is supported, which limits the development of other economic units. This is contrary to economic rationality, as a result of such modeling is blocking the flow of agricultural land to those farms which show the greatest ability to satisfy consumer needs.

Abstrakt	Celem badań jest określenie specyfiki rynku gruntów rolnych oraz charakterystyka głównych determinantów podejmowania decyzji inwestycyjnych na tym rynku. Wyniki badań wykazały, że na rynku gruntów rolnych, w porównaniu z innymi segmentami rynku nieruchomości, niższy jest poziom stopy zwrotu mierzonej ilorazem rocznych dochodów z czynszów z tytułu dzierżawy do ceny gruntu. Pomimo tego, w ostatnich latach utrzymywał się popyt na grunty rolne oraz tendencja wzrostowa ich cen, czego nie notowano na rynkach innego rodzaju nieruchomości. Dowodzi to istnienia innych czynników niż uzyskiwanie dochodów z nieruchomości z tytułu dzierżawy, wpływających na podejmowanie decyzji inwestycyjnych na tym rynku.
Abstract	The aim of this study was an attempt to determine the specificity of the agricultural land market and the characteristics of the major determinants of investment decisions in this market. The obtained results showed that the agricultural land market is characterized by lower level of return on investment compared to other segments of the real estate market. Nevertheless, in recent years high demand for agricultural land and the upward trend in their prices have been continued, which was not recorded in the other real estate markets. This proves the existence of other factors, apart from getting income from real property under a lease, which affect investment decisions in this market.

Abstrakt	Celem opracowania jest rozpoznanie efektywności ekonomicznej gospodarstw z produkcją tytoniu w Polsce. W badaniach wykorzystano dane zgromadzone w systemie FADN (Farm Accountancy Data Network). Wyniki badań wykazały, że produkcja tytoniu jest prowadzona przez małe, wyspecjalizowane gospodarstwa, dla których ten kierunek produkcji jest podstawowym źródłem dochodów. Wyniki ekonomiczne badanych gospodarstw w znacznym stopniu zależały od pomocy państwa w postaci krajowych płatności uzupełniających dla plantatorów tytoniu. W kontekście zmian zachodzących we wspólnej polityce rolnej (WPR), a w szczególności tendencji do odłączania płatności od produkcji, uzależnienie to może znacznie utrudniać przystosowanie się do zmieniających się warunków funkcjonowania na wspólnotowym rynku.
Abstract	The paper aims to recognise the economical efficiency of tobacco producing farms. The research is based on data collected by FADN. Results of the research indicate that tobacco is being cultivated by small, specialized farms, for which such type of production constitutes the essential source of income. The paper argues that the state aid in the form of complementary national direct payments for tobacco farmers has an important effect on economical results of farms. This dependence could determine the significant difficulty in adaptation of tobacco farms to the new market situation, especially within the framework of the reformed CAP, especially with regard to the continuous trend in decoupling of direct payments.

Abstract	The paper examines strands related to speculation. Some of the common criticisms and benefits of speculation were discussed. Additionally, distinction between investments, speculation and gambling were drawn. For centuries, speculation has been criticized and found “morally questionable” since speculators neither produce things, nor improve them for sale, however they profit by losses of others. Legitimate speculation helps risk transfer, provides market liquidity and contributes to price uncovering, while manipulative speculation can exacerbate harmful price bubbles.

Abstract	The aim of this paper is to show how the responsibility lies with the company in fulfilling a social mission, what stakeholders expect, and how companies come up to these expectations. Expectations of stakeholders to companies were illustrated by the results of surveys conducted on a group of Polish and German respondents, in such areas as: workplace, environment, market and society. The results show some similarities but also differences in the feelings of respondents about the ethical behavior of Polish and German companies. The analysis conducted shows that the modern company can not shirk its social responsibility, and its activities should be based on the organizational culture that integrates all stakeholders around common goals.

Abstract	Process of integration of cooperative banks within the European banking system was associated with the need to raise their own capital and the consolidation of cooperative banking in early 2000. and increased competition, as well. Transfer of large amounts of EU funds to the banking accounts of farers and local governments contributed to the increase in the amount of deposits, and provided a cheap source of funding for banks. In this period banks were characterized by good profitability and efficiency. The scale of positive yield depended on the share of interest income in total income and the volume of lending. Additionally, for improvement in profitability contributed a higher proportion of deposits non-financial sector, as well as higher interest rates in the banking sector and decline in stock market indices, associated with higher interest rates and interest income.

Abstract	This article presents the problem of evolution of agri-business sector and its ability to function in the era of globalization and European integration. Describing the successive stages of development of Polish food the author wonders how they influenced the international cooperation of Polish enterprises and the opportunities arising from their positioning in the global economy. Special regard was given to privatization of enterprises in transition, subjected to the transformation and included in agri – food industry in the EU structures. The author argues that the mere inclusion of our country to the countries of market economy was a move to allow to join the globalized economic structures and legitimated active participation in international economic cooperation. It is considered that six years of operation in the EU structures changed our country both economically and politically. The EU membership has changed the structure of the economy and has continued transformation of privatization and modernization of most companies. Subsequent market-oriented transformation of corporate behavior forced the agribusiness sector and the high positioning of our economy to the international arena. Operation in the EU structures has opened a great opportunity for the Polish agri-business, for all its divisions, and only from wealth in the form of human and physical capital depends its development on a global scale

Abstract	After 15 years since beginning of the economic system transformation in 1989, substantial share of the polish sugar enterprises was characterised by domination of the state capital. In the research there were compared the strategies of operation in private sugar enterprises owned by chosen foreign investors and sugar processing companies grouped in the sugar holdings, possessed by the State. For that purpose operations of the research enterprises were decomposed into four function areas: production, human capital, marketing and finances. In result of undertaken analyses and comparisons of operation courses among groups of the sugar enterprises according to the above-mentioned areas, operation strategies realised by sugar enterprises grouped according to the differential ownership form were identified, described and evaluated.

Abstract	The dairy market In the EU is regulated by the Common Market Organization for milk and milk products. This policy is influencing together with changes in the Common Agricultural Policy. Within the Health Check the European Commission proposed a milk quota abolition, which will come into force from the year 2015. This paper presents a scenario analysis of milk quota abolition and the influence on production, price and demand on farm gate milk, butter and skimmed milk powder. Analysis was divided on two groups EU-15 and ten countries whose accession to EU in the year 2004. Special case was made for Germany, France, Great Britain and Poland as the largest milk producers in the EU. Conclusions fl owing from analysis show decline of real milk farm gate price to the year 2020, about 20% in the comparison with the average from the period 2003–2005. The supply of milk will increase with simultaneous decline of butter production and skimmed milk powder. Unfortunately the majority of unfavorable changes will in the group of countries UE-10

Abstract	The paper describes problems of low labor supply among women ages 50–67 years inhibiting rural areas. On the basis of “Social Diagnosis” Survey 2009 several reasons of women’ early labor market quitting ale reported by women. Main of them are: inability of finding a job for a long time, caring responsibilities, poor health and received social benefits (including pensions).

Title	Non-cash settlements of SMEs from the agri-business sector

Abstract	The aim of the paper is characteristics and assessment of financial behaviours of micro, small and medium sized enterprises in the agribusiness sector on the non-cash settlements market. As results from the investigations the analyzed enterprises are characterized by a high degree of non-cash settlement forms utilization. However, the discussed agribusiness enterprises use only the basic settlement instruments for handling payments with dominant transfer order. On average, each made 20 money transfers per month. Most of the realized transfers (60%) were electronic funds transfers. Pay cards are also an important settlement instrument (48%). The results of the investigations suggest that both the fact of possessing a business bank card by the entrepreneurs and the frequency of its use depend on the place where the entity operates and kind of bank in which the fi rm has its current account. Pay card is more popular in the client group of commercial banks and among the businessmen who operate in the urbanized areas. Apart from the funds transfer in paper or electronic form and cards, the other non-cash payment instruments (checks, letters of credit, and order to pay or collection) were not used by the analyzed group of enterprises owing to the fact that they were operating on domestic markets.
