Abstract	Saving, financing and (real and financial) investment in Poland from 2005 to 2007 are analysed in the article in the framework of annual financial and capital accounts. The Central Statistical Office publishes these accounts. Polish national accounts are compiled on the basis of ESA ’95. The ESA ’95 is broadly consistent with the System of National Accounts of the United Nations (SNA ’93) with regards to the definitions, accounting rules and classifications. It was affirmed, that households and rest of the world are the basic source of funding for domestic institutional sectors. However, the meaning of households diminishes, and the rest of the world grows. It means that, the level of real investments in the Polish economy is become addicted in the large degree from the inflow of the foreign capital. Financial institutions perform in the economy as the financial intermediary. Moreover, recent years have seen a substantial rebalancing between general government and non-financial corporations net borrowing positions

Abstract	Author accomplishes an analyse of the sources of financing of 14 public pension societies (PPSs) in Poland in the years 1999–2009 using the basic statistical tools. The inquiry indicates the own funds as the basic sources of financing of PPSs, which have been financed in last years by about 90% of assets. An average value of own funds in 2009 overdrew the level of 230 mln PLN and existing from 2000 soaring dynamic of this value indicates indirectly on great profitability of all sector. In the dynamic perspective it is also mentioned the progressive standardization in area of sources of financing in inquired population. The most common value of own funds kept in the bracket 0–50 mln PLN and the value of liabilities in the bracket of 0–20 mln PLN.

Abstract	What becomes a very considerable factor in the present period of raging global economic crisis is the risk, especially the one closely related to decisionmaking of various kinds. The aforementioned decisionmaking as such entails the risk. Being in need of such assessment in terms of company’s capacity to continue to operate, different institutions as well as individuals being interested in investing in enterprises employ diverse models that allow of probability estimation of business failure. Abstract	Good governance principles are considered by the European Union to be a basic indicator serving in the assessment of the quality of the Community’s public management. Therefore, these principles should be treated as a reference point in the process of building all the necessary elements of the system of implementation of the EU tasks and activities. The same applies to the Common Agricultural Policy and to supporting within it the development of agriculture and rural areas. Following this the evaluation system should respect the good governance principles in most complex way that is possible and achievable. However, up to now, the development of the EU evaluation culture has not reached the level of comprehensive actual fulfillment of these principles and for the evaluation process to lead to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the CAP. Moreover, if the EU involvement in supporting the development of social responsibility of the agriculture is worth underlining it should be conducted via the introduction of different rules and regulations applicable in this sector, which combined with the competition typical of this part of the economy should lead to development of socially responsible agriculture.

Abstract	Process of integration of cooperative banks within the European banking system was associated with the need to raise their own capital and the consolidation of cooperative banking in early 2000. and increased competition, as well. Transfer of large amounts of EU funds to the banking accounts of farers and local governments contributed to the increase in the amount of deposits, and provided a cheap source of funding for banks. In this period banks were characterized by good profitability and efficiency. The scale of positive yield depended on the share of interest income in total income and the volume of lending. Additionally, for improvement in profitability contributed a higher proportion of deposits non-financial sector, as well as higher interest rates in the banking sector and decline in stock market indices, associated with higher interest rates and interest income.

Abstract	This article presents the problem of evolution of agri-business sector and its ability to function in the era of globalization and European integration. Describing the successive stages of development of Polish food the author wonders how they influenced the international cooperation of Polish enterprises and the opportunities arising from their positioning in the global economy. Special regard was given to privatization of enterprises in transition, subjected to the transformation and included in agri – food industry in the EU structures. The author argues that the mere inclusion of our country to the countries of market economy was a move to allow to join the globalized economic structures and legitimated active participation in international economic cooperation. It is considered that six years of operation in the EU structures changed our country both economically and politically. The EU membership has changed the structure of the economy and has continued transformation of privatization and modernization of most companies. Subsequent market-oriented transformation of corporate behavior forced the agribusiness sector and the high positioning of our economy to the international arena. Operation in the EU structures has opened a great opportunity for the Polish agri-business, for all its divisions, and only from wealth in the form of human and physical capital depends its development on a global scale

Abstract	The dairy market In the EU is regulated by the Common Market Organization for milk and milk products. This policy is influencing together with changes in the Common Agricultural Policy. Within the Health Check the European Commission proposed a milk quota abolition, which will come into force from the year 2015. This paper presents a scenario analysis of milk quota abolition and the influence on production, price and demand on farm gate milk, butter and skimmed milk powder. Analysis was divided on two groups EU-15 and ten countries whose accession to EU in the year 2004. Special case was made for Germany, France, Great Britain and Poland as the largest milk producers in the EU. Conclusions fl owing from analysis show decline of real milk farm gate price to the year 2020, about 20% in the comparison with the average from the period 2003–2005. The supply of milk will increase with simultaneous decline of butter production and skimmed milk powder. Unfortunately the majority of unfavorable changes will in the group of countries UE-10

Abstract	The paper deals methods of solid biomass estimation for energy purposes. Several ways of estimations are available at present what causes discrepancy in the figures. In the article useful methods were described for local government units, and enterprises interested in using biomass for energy purposes. Estimation methods of wood, straw and energy crops were presented. Estimating of resources of renewable sources, especially biomass, could became a significant practical problem, which can be meet by local government representatives, entrepreneurs interested in renewable sources technology development. Methods of estimating have complex and diverse character what could be seen like an obstacle in define raw material sources in farms for instance. Farms have many specific characteristics within technical and logistic organization, are placed in specific localizations sometimes very hard to cultivate because of agro technical factors. Those conditions dot not exclude the possibility of biomass estimating in the scale of province, poviat, commune or even in single farm. The present estimating methods need to be adopted by preparing common measuring standards which allows to prepare reliable calculations of biomass for fuel and energy sector. Methods of estimating are improving during process of research and current updating.

Title	Non-cash settlements of SMEs from the agri-business sector

Abstract	The aim of the paper is characteristics and assessment of financial behaviours of micro, small and medium sized enterprises in the agribusiness sector on the non-cash settlements market. As results from the investigations the analyzed enterprises are characterized by a high degree of non-cash settlement forms utilization. However, the discussed agribusiness enterprises use only the basic settlement instruments for handling payments with dominant transfer order. On average, each made 20 money transfers per month. Most of the realized transfers (60%) were electronic funds transfers. Pay cards are also an important settlement instrument (48%). The results of the investigations suggest that both the fact of possessing a business bank card by the entrepreneurs and the frequency of its use depend on the place where the entity operates and kind of bank in which the fi rm has its current account. Pay card is more popular in the client group of commercial banks and among the businessmen who operate in the urbanized areas. Apart from the funds transfer in paper or electronic form and cards, the other non-cash payment instruments (checks, letters of credit, and order to pay or collection) were not used by the analyzed group of enterprises owing to the fact that they were operating on domestic markets.

Abstract	Stock exchange analysts as well as financial markets researchers have come to the conviction that assets prices are based not only on current economic indicators and data referring to markets but also on emotions, preferences and psychological condition of market participants. Thus, it is to assume that abilities of perceiving and analysing other people’s emotions are a highly desirable quality characterizing potential bankers and stock brokers. This ability plays a particularly relevant role when the sequence of actions initiated on financial markets is quite unpredictable and when many world economies enter a simultaneous recession. In critical situations financial markets should leave no room for risk-seekers who engage themselves in sophisticated stock exchange games. Reasonability, common sense and ability of controlling extreme emotional states – these are highly preferable values. In order to estimate risk-loving players the appropriate selection of human resources in a financial sector is of fundamental importance. The aim of this paper is to examine whether potential bankers – in this case represented by students of the Faculty of Finance and Banking at Warsaw University of Life Sciences – are able to effectively perceive as well as assess their own and other people’s emotional states. In order to fi nd out whether the above specified target group meet the aforementioned criteria, their emotional intelligence has been studied.
