Abstrakt	Celem badań była ocena wyników ekonomicznych produkcji żywca wołowego oraz identyfikacja głównych czynników determinujących jej opłacalność. Wyniki produkcji żywca analizowano w trzech grupach gospodarstw, wydzielonych według kwartyli nadwyżki bezpośredniej, tj. w gospodarstwach najlepszych, średnich i najsłabszych. Analizie poddano średnie trzyletnie. Głównym czynnikiem różnicującym efekty ekonomiczne produkcji żywca wołowego były poniesione koszty, wpływ ceny sprzedaży był mniejszy. Decydujący wpływ miały koszty bezpośrednie, które w kolejnych grupach gospodarstw sukcesywnie rosły: w średnich gospodarstwach były wyższe niż w najlepszych o 40,2%, a w najsłabszych – o 82,0%. Wysokość kosztów bezpośrednich była determinowana głównie przez koszt wymiany stada, wpływ miał także koszt pasz. Produkcja żywca wołowego ekonomicznie efektywna była tylko w gospodarstwach najlepszych, wskaźnik opłacalności wynosił 111,9%, natomiast w średnich i najsłabszych koszty produkcji zostały pokryte częściowo, odpowiednio w 88,8 i 72,4%.
Abstract	The main objective of the study was to evaluate the economic performance and efficiency of bovine animals production and identify the main determinants of such production profitability. The results of the study were analyzed in three groups of farms divided by quartiles of gross margin, i.e. in the best, middle and weakest. The results were analyzed as average in three years. The main factor differentiating the economic effects from the production of beef cattle was the costs incurred, the impact of the sale price was lower. The decisive impact was direct costs, which in successive groups of farms increased, with regard to the best of farms in the medium ones were higher by 40.2% and the weakest ones – by 82.0%. The level of direct costs was determined mainly by the exchange cost of the herd and also by the cost of feed. Beef cattle production was economically effectiveness only in the best farms, the profitability index was 111.9%, while in the medium and weakest group of farms at 88.8 and 72.4% respectively.

Abstrakt	Celem głównym opracowania jest przedstawienie opinii rolników na temat finansowania działalności gospodarstw kapitałem obcym. W przeprowadzonych badaniach odniesiono się do celu zaangażowania finansowania obcego, wskazanych determinant jego wykorzystania oraz oceny korzyści z jego stosowania w opinii rolników. Badanie przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza wywiadu w grupie 100 rolników prowadzących indywidualne gospodarstwa rolnicze w województwie mazowieckim. Podmioty te prowadziły rachunkowość rolną w ramach systemu FADN. Kryterium podziału badanej populacji obejmowało siłę ekonomiczną gospodarstw wyrażoną w ESU, co pozwoliło na uwzględnienie poziomu dochodowości badanych podmiotów. Głównym problemem w zarządzaniu źródłami finansowania w opinii rolników było utrzymanie płynności finansowej na bezpiecznym poziomie. Rolnicy dostrzegali korzyści z tytułu zwiększenia zaangażowania finansowania kapitałem obcym w zakresie przeprowadzania szybszej modernizacji majątku gospodarstwa. Rolnicy decydują się na wybór konserwatywnej strategii finansowania, preferując długoterminowe źródła finansowania, dążyli do minimalizacji ryzyka finansowego. Wśród głównych determinant poziomu zadłużenia rolnicy wyróżnili wartość inwestycji, wymagany wkład własny oraz dopłat do odsetek kredytów preferencyjnych
Abstract	The aim of this paper is to present the opinions of farmers about financing agricultural holdings with borrowed capital. The research addressed the purpose of using borrowed capital, its determinants and the assessment of the benefits of its use in the opinions of farmers. The survey was conducted with the use of interview questionnaire in the group of 100 farmers running individual agricultural holdings in the Mazowieckie voivodeship. These entities applied agricultural accounting within FADN system. The criterion for the division of the surveyed units included the economic size expressed in ESU, which allowed taking into account the level of profitability of these entities. The main problem of the management of finance sources, according to the farmers, consisted in the maintenance of financial liquidity on the safe level. The farmers saw benefits of the increase of financing with borrowed capital for the faster modernization of agricultural assets. The farmers choose a conservative financing strategy; preferring long-term financing sources, they wanted to minimise financial risk. The farmers listed the following main determinants of the level of debt: the value of the investment, own contribution required and subsidies to interest on subsidised loans.

Abstrakt	Celem opracowania była ocena warunków transportu i dobrostanu tuczników oraz oszacowanie ekonomicznych strat transportowych w zależności od odległości transportu i wielkości rocznej skali produkcji tuczników. Badania przeprowadzono w latach 2014-2015 metodą ankiety bezpośredniej. Materiał badawczy stanowiły dane opisujące 120 operacji transportowych, w których trakcie do uboju przewieziono łącznie 4300 tuczników. Z badań własnych wynika, że zwierzęta były przewożone zarówno pojazdami specjalistycznymi, jak i adaptowanymi środkami transportowymi, głównie agregatami rolniczymi. Pojazdy specjalistyczne częściej wykorzystywano w transporcie na większe odległości i z gospodarstw o większej rocznej skali produkcji tuczników. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały liczne przypadki przekroczenia dopuszczalnych norm obsady tuczników w czasie transportu, głównie w transportach realizowanych od największych producentów. Najwyższe straty ekonomiczne wynikające z obniżenia dobrostanu tuczników w przeliczeniu na jedno transportowane zwierzę odnotowano w przewozach na najdłuższym dystansie oraz z gospodarstw o największej skali produkcji.
Abstract	The aim of the study was to evaluate the conditions of transport and the welfare of fatteners as well as to assess transport losses depending on the distance of transport and the annual production scale of fatteners. The material comprised data describing 120 transport operations during which 4300 fatteners were transported for slaughter. The study shows that animals were transported both by means of specialized vehicles as well as by adapted means of transport, mainly agricultural aggregates. Specialized vehicles were more often used in long-distance transport and from farms with a larger annual production scale. The research showed numerous cases of exceeding admissible norms of the number of fatteners during transport, mainly in the transport carried out by the largest producers. The study proved that the percentage of tired and injured animals rose as the distance of transport increased. The greatest economical losses resulting from the decrease in the welfare of the fatteners per one transported animal was observed in transport at the longest distance and from farms with the largest production scale.

Abstrakt	This article aims to evaluate the level of tourism potential for the communities located in the eastern border region of the Lubelskie Voivodeship in Poland. The analysis was based on a three-factor model consisting of separate interrelated components of tourism potential i.e. tourist attractiveness, tourist function and tourist traffic. Using a multidimensional comparative analysis, a Tourist Attractiveness Index, Tourist Function Index and Tourist Traffic Index were composed. This enabled to identify the territorial units for which rural tourism can become a real factor stimulating socio-economic development. It appears that rural tourism can be perceived as a chance for improving the local economy for the areas located in the northern part of the borderland, whereas for communities situated in the southern part, it is not a significant issue.

Abstrakt	Our world has gone through myriad forms of administrative and economic ideological eras, some of which helped positively and others contributed regressively. Recently, the rise of authoritarian populism as an alternative path to mainstream democracy stems from the failure of inclusiveness in the political and economic institutions especially in the rural world. Due to extractive capitalism, nowadays, rural areas are characterized by persistent poverty, deep inequalities, marginalization and exclusion, fractured identities and loss of self-esteem, which in turn engenders a regressive politics dubbed 'authoritarian populism'. It endangers our future unless we confront it and it has gained momentum by winning national elections in some countries. Alternatively, inclusive growth that would successfully share benefits to the rural people via inclusive political and economic institutions could be able to transform the rural poor. Endorsing and supporting this option with emancipatory rural politics, therefore, saves globalization from a looming collapse and ultimately culminates the world to a new level of civilization.

Abstrakt	In 1996 and 2016, respectively, the Independent Creative Group (ICG) conducted a comprehensive sociological study "Economic reform - the eye of the village." The aim of the project was to explore the evaluation of economic reform of rural populations in 5 areas: a) economic reform; b) quality of life and expectations; c) businesses; d) agricultural transformation; e) development of farming. The research was conducted in the form of "sociological fixation" expectations, estimates and other reactions to social challenges. The object of the study was a typical village of the Lviv region. The study confirmed the simultaneous increase of confidence in economic transformation and the growth of pessimism in the impact of reforms. The rural population understands the goals and objectives of reforms, and supports private property and the market economy. The standard of living has improved significantly, but it does not cover the real expectations of the population. Farmers understand the role and importance of entrepreneurship and accept new business entities. The study showed significant structural changes in the views and assessments of rural residents of the Lviv region. There is obvious public awareness of fundamental lifestyle changes in the countryside.

Abstrakt	The objective of the paper is to examine the changes in the level of diversification of the labour productivity in the European Union countries in the years 1998-2015, and then to determine whether there is any convergence of the labour productivity among these countries. The labour productivity has been calculated as a relation of the gross value added at constant prices per one full-time employee. The study used the Economic Accounts for Agriculture (EAA) and the Agricultural Labour Input (ALI). The study covered the European Union countries, broken down by the countries of the „old” EU (EU-15) and the countries admitted to the EU after 2004. In order to determine the changes occurring in these countries, sigma-convergence (σ) and beta-convergence (β) have been used. The study shows that after 2011 there was a process of convergence among the EU countries in terms of the labour productivity in agriculture.

Abstrakt	The aim of this paper was to determine whether the EU countries which vary in terms of their cost structure in agriculture, differ also with regard to the influence of capital-labour ratio and land supply per worker on labour profitability. It was assumed that data concerning the presence and character of those differences can contribute to better understanding of the nature of agricultural development in the EU countries. The main sources of data used in this paper were the Economic Accounts for Agriculture (Eurostat) and the FAOStat database. The study covered the period of 2004-2014. In the article it was shown that agriculture in the EU countries is varied in terms of cost structure, and in the cluster II, including mostly the countries of the so-called “new” EU, intermediate consumption is of relatively larger significance for their cost structure. In the countries of the “old” EU an important role is played by the depreciation of buildings and external services. Stronger influence of capital-labour ratio on the payment to the factor of labour was observed in the cluster II countries. In those countries, increasing capital expenditures was a more efficient strategy to increase income.

Abstrakt	The themes of the impact of foreign trade on economic growth has been repeatedly assumed by investigators and were most often related to various aspects: the openness of the economies, economic prosperity, competitiveness and diversification of export. The objective of the research was the evaluation of changes in economic development and the development of foreign trade in Poland comparing them with the EU and some EU countries. Particular attention was given to the issue of diversification and competitiveness of exports by putting the hypothesis that the greater product diversification of Polish export, the greater its competitiveness, which leads to economic growth. The work uses the following test methods: descriptive methods, statistical methods, the indexing methods of which Indicator of the Absolute Deviations and Revealed Comparative Advantages were calculated. Export diversification can lead to speeding up the pace of economic growth. By analyzing in detail the situations in Poland can conclude that it is advisable to diversify of the export structure.

Abstrakt	The article attempts to compare the importance of agriculture and the dynamics of its development in Ukraine and Poland. The most important constraints on the development of Ukrainian agriculture were identified, including the unregulated land market, lack of coherent support programs for agriculture and rural areas, poorly developed infrastructure of the agricultural environment and lack of capital for development. It was found that agriculture in Ukraine is characterized by a high growth rate of productivity and production. The observed output gap in relation to agriculture in Poland is about 10 years. The agricultural sector in Ukraine has about 10% share in generating GDP and as much as 40% share in exports. Such high importance can be maintained even in the conditions of economic development, as there are large reserves in the development of agribusiness. The most important development factors include the introduction of a coherent program for the development of the agribusiness sector, including production of goods with high added value and increasing the availability of capital for the development of agriculture. A great opportunity is the development of trade in the conditions of affiliation with the EU.

Abstrakt	There are the producers who takes the weakest position on the agricultural market. Their activity is especially exposed to the risk factors. Price volatility which stays behind the price risk is one of the most important threats for producers’ incomes. Economic stability is a base for investment and development. That is why the price volatility is worth to having a look at. There are two species examined in this paper: onion and carrot. Both have a significant share in Polish vegetable production. Onion crops are mostly exported but carrot is being sold on the domestic market. Apart from the sales market there was no significant difference in analyzed period between farm-gate price volatility for both species. The measured volatility was getting lower in consecutive years of analyzed period; only in years of unfavorable weather conditions there were some growth. The analyze was conducted with usage of descriptive statistic on the logarithmic rates of return.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The paper analyzes changes in risk of investment fund portfolios in different phases of the macroeconomic cycle. Twenty nine equity investment funds operating during the period of 2005–2015 were examined. The risk was assessed by the standard deviationof rates of return on funds and the β coefficient. The research indicates that the exposure of fund portfolios to risk changed in response to macroeconomic conditions and the situation on the capital market. Risk hit its highest level during the financial crisis years (2008–2011),followed by the dynamic macroeconomic growth years (2005–2007). The moderate growth years (2012–2015) exposed funds to the lowest risk. For the entire period the average and the median funds and the market were exposed to a similar amount of investment risk.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The paper examines the rates of return of three main types of investment funds in the period of from 2005 to June 2016. The analysis covers 120 equity, 55 bond and 60 mixed funds and is based on data taken from www.bossa.pl, www.analizy.pl and www.izfa.pl. The results of analysis indicate that macroeconomic conditions significantly shape fund returns, though the impact is diversified by fund type. Better stock market conditions benefit equity and mixed funds, and the periods of economic slowdown are favorable for safer funds, including bond and money market funds. For the entire period, equity funds achieved the highest returns, but with the highest risk. The opposite situation concerned bond funds. The average returns of every type of fund were higher than deposit rates – more than 50% of the funds outgained them.

Abstract	The aim of the article is to examine the theoretical foundations of diversification strategy and identify the characteristics of its application in agriculture. The relevance of diversification strategy research is that its implementation allows additional income to be made, ensures financial stability for enterprise when demand for basic products fluctuates, and strengthens the competitive position in chosen markets. The importance for enterprise of implementing growth strategy is discussed, as is the economic essence of “marketing strategy”. Dynamic changes in the market force producers to review their activity and seek a more optimum development strategy. Diversification can be the optimal strategy when market conditions are uncertain. The article analyzes the essence and types of diversification along with the benefits and disadvantages of diversification strategy. As a result of the research, features of diversification strategy for the agricultural sector were analysed, the essence of which may be found in the unification of agricultural products with other kinds of activity. This is done to decrease the risk arising from receding demand for main agricultural products. The study found that the most effective and least risky strategy is vertical diversification, which involves obtaining a synergistic effect and reducing transaction costs (through the use of a single production chain from field to consumer).

Abstrakt
Abstract	The aim of the paper is to improve theoretical foundations of the research of the population spatial mobility as an actual socio-economic concept and development of its three-dimensional model. Two basic concepts are used to understand spatial mobility – “mobility” and “space”. The population spatial mobility is suggested to consider its property, which reflects desire, willingness and opportunities to change a place of residence in specified space-time coordinates, which is accompanied by human potential capitalization during implementation processes. Immobility as the opposite property of mobility is identified. A three-dimensional model of the population spatial mobility is considered. The characteristics of the population spatial mobility are generalized. They include: subjectivity, level and scale display, tempology, transformation, goal orientation, potentiality, functionality, the ability to adjust and measurability. All the characteristics are described. The author points out that the methodology to determine the level of the population spatial mobility needs developing. The different types of the population spatial mobility are described in order to assess its level. This is active-mobile and passive-mobile population. The structure of the population spatial mobility is formed depending on the dominance of a particular personality type. The scale of spatial mobility as an important characteristic reflects desire, willingness and opportunities of movement for a specified distance. Functionality as the characteristic of spatial mobility reveals its ability to perform such functions as movement provision, stagnation resistance, balancing and alignment, variability, alternativeness, freedom, protection, development, self-responsibility and individualization. Goal orientation shows that the mobile property of a person allows them to more quickly meet the needs through the achievement of demanded goals compared to other members of society who are immobile. The actuality of the research of the population spatial mobility in the context of human development is proved in the conclusions.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The article focuses on improvements and related issues in the implementation of Ukrainian monetary policy. Over the past 20 years the Ukrainian government has conducted monetary policy that flouts generally accepted international goals. The article alsopresents an overview of the main economic factors that exert an influence on the exchange rate – inflation and the state of the account surplus of goods payment balance, which is determined by the competitiveness of the economy. The index of global competitiveness is used as an indicator of the national economy’s competitiveness, while the country’s current position and dynamics under the global competitiveness index (GCI) are examined. The article details the main factors that have led the country’s position to fall, including the factthat the problems are systemic and result from corruption. The impact of the negative factors can be minimized in Ukraine, and monetary policy improved.

Abstrakt
Abstract	The article evaluates the main parameters of human potential quality of Ukraine’s region. The assessment is based on the quantitative measurement of sustainable development. The Euclidean metric was used. The quality of human potential as a multi-structuralphenomenon characterizes the levels of human potential characteristics developed according to the environment of its formation, as well as public and personal needs. It is indicated that a structural approach should be used to study the quality of regional human potential. This necessitates the separation of certain levels of sociogenesis. Those levels include the human body, individuality and personality. Quality is formed at each of them. In this article, using qualimetry, a quantitative measure of quality was evaluated using the level of the human body. This was the basis for the premise that the quality of human potential is formed in a three-dimensional system of time, space and energy parameters, corresponding to the demographic, ecological and economic dimensions. Various indicators can be the characteristics of each of the parameters, depending on the research focus. Using the methods proposed, the quality of the human potential of Ukrainian regions was evaluated. Indicators of the degree of harmonization and the quantitative measure of the quality were calculated. It was established that analytical conclusions should be considered not only the grade of the quality achieved, but also the degree of harmonisation of internal and external factors.
